I have to admit I'm a little bummed that the Bionic got recovery and cvpcs has already successfully booted CM7 on it... where's our devs at?
They're going elsewhere because they're tired of hearing everyone whining and complaining that they aren't doing enough

I'm not complaining. I understand that it is largely a payless and thankless job. I'm just saying it sucks that a phone that has only been out for 9 days already has more development for it then one that has been out almost 3 months when the hardware is essentially the same. I mean, the Bionic got Fastboot Recovery in like 5 days when it took us 2 months. I'm aware that we will get everything the Bionic does, it just seems like we'll always be second in line. In the long run it doesn't matter, both phones will have 2nd-init and ICS/CM8 in the future.

Lol...not complaining. Was just curious.
I do not like the demanding attitude some people seem to have, so I'm not sure it's even worth to reply in this thread ... anyway ...
Keep in mind it took a lot of time to have D3 even rooted, while Bionic users and devs just benefitted from the D3 root exploit.
I too am honestly a bit pissed that the bionic got more attention given it is riding the dev wave of d3.
Oh well.

A couple have guys have been working side by side with cvpcs to get it up and running. They're making sure that there aren't any bugs before they release it.
The last thing we want is ruining a bunch of D3's because we released it early. They said a release today is probably a good bet.

Who's demanding? I was just curious. I didn't think this thread was gonna turn into a crapstorm.
I bet part of the reason the bionic is getting all this attention is the fact that its been out for months in the form of the atrix. Plus the amount of hype it has had over the last several months. Recovery is coming along nicely for our D3's

Yeah, I'm not worried about being passed up for the Bionic. I know we will get all the same releases. Just sucks being second best I suppose.

Yeah, I get no data in the school I work in (hurricane shelter) and no 4G coverage at my house.
I have heard that a 3G phone on WiFi is as fast as 4G. That said the 4G/3G is really a non issue. With my D1 it rocked, CM7 nightlies #175, jdlfg 1266mhz @1100, Koush-Any-Kernel-b0e8859, Superuser 3.0 beta 4 efgh, Quardant Standard 1741. D3 will be out front always. I am satisfied to be in the mix. Bionic can do its lap dance, I'll watch. We're all winning, thats whats so great about this. All glory to the DEvs.
Hey guys!
It has been a while since I have stopped over here to the DROID 3 community and peeped a "Hello" in so I thought I would say Hi and get ya up to speed on where I've been.
So I last posted around uhhh maybe 3 weeks ago here and as some of you know I recently bought a Droid 4. I have been in the Droid 4 community for all this time, and a lot of people from the D3 community moved to the D4 like me.
Most went D3 > D4, but I went D3 > Bionic > D4, but nonetheless I got a Droid 4.
If I have to say anything the Droid 3 development community was the NICEST community I've ever had the privilege to have an experience with. I know I didn't have my Droid 3 that long, but in the short 4 months I had one active, I had my best experiences. I developed, I leaked updates, I never got b**ched at for asking a simple question (P.S. Droid Incredible 2 community) and EVERYBODY was nice. Still is nice.
I miss coming here. I seriously do. I reached out to this community for prayers for a personal problem, and I almost NEVER post anything about something as serious as that was when that happened with my nephew and his grandmother. I almost NEVER post something that serious but I had grown so fond of all of you I knew I could trust you guys by posting it. I was right. I will most likely never meet a community as nice as you guys are.
Even though I had bad luck with the Droid 3, I loved my Droid 3. If anybody wants a new phone, a Droid 4 is a great option. I love mine!
I wanted to stop by and say that I will try to come around here more as I know more about the Droid 3 and Droid 4 then just about any other phone out there.
I'd also like to know how everybody has been doing. Just to say, my family is fine and recovered from our bump in the road back in early May (or Late April; I have a hard time remembering the time period) and nothing serious has happened since then.
So I thought I'd post this and let you know about my whereabouts and say Hi.
Don't hesitate to respond!
--Sam
Things have definitely slowed down here.
I wanted the Droid 4 (don't think I can get it here in Canada) but what's with the back cover removal tool? Kills me.
I hope more keyboard Androids come out... I'm ready to move on.
Thanks for the update! And im glad your family is doing ok :] best wishes for your future endeavors, and thanks for everything you contributed to the droid3

I got my D4 from here for a good deal... so far it's been treating me well on Rogers!
You should probably do the same... Although the new swype is pretty awesome, maybe you could find a deal on the RAZR. I am frequenting the RAZR and D4 forums now also...
Goin with the HTC Raider! Should be here tomorrow. Woohooo!
Ill still be pokin my nose in the D3 forum because i have an archive of useful files (mostly for the xt860) and as we all know, the download links get broken fairly quickly

Maybe off ebay and then unlocked it, which is what I was planning on doing since they released that update which unlocked the GSM functionality.
LaZiODROID,
I bought mine off of here, on XDA in the marketplace. Then I loaded up the latest leak at the time, no unlock required! It just comes up and says unknown SIM when it boots up... Not a huge deal. So far it's way better, and it gives me better bettery life. I think the Bell XT860 really liked being on 3G, but this one doesn't mind going onto EDGE when 3G signal is bad (which is most of the day for me in the office)

I am waiting to WP8 to launch before I switch to WP, how do you like the raider? I suggested my friend to get one and loves it.
im saying goodbye to the droid 3 community. It has always been friendly and has really gotten me into android. I am going to miss this community BUT i may be back just to give you GB lovers a nice little surprise ;] im not going to say what it is yet [no its not a ROM lol] but im sure youll love it. also not saying becuase there are no promises, this is sort of a summer project for me between college but if i get caught up in the nexus i may not complete it. But i hoping i dont get too caught up, you guys deserve the best. Thanks hashcode, jonpry, sparkyman and all others for their continued suppor tiwht our device. Ill have this device for the next (5days max) but after i will be onto the Galaxy Nexus.
For these next five days i will be working extensivley isntead of being my usual lazy self to provide you guys with your little mini surprise. If i get alot done, i will release an alpha of it, by alpha i mean even half of what it brings wont be done
I'm right there with you. The droid 3 community is stellar. I also frequent the Galaxy Tab 2 community as well as a few others and to be honest, everywhere else is just full of assholes. I will be buying some unlocked galaxy s2 phone on Amazon as my upgrade is not until August 2013 and I need a phone for <300, haven't decided which one yet though. I am currently weening myself off my keyboard, but it's tough haha.
Anyways, good luck with your future endeavors!

Gee, this is tougher that I expected. I made the mistake of reading the other posts. Boohoo. Sooo, My first "smartphone" was the Verizon XV6700 with Windows OS. I hated it so much. I went to an LG with the phycial keys and was happy. It had the little dinky screen. Good for txt which is why I got it. Then the D1 hit !! it was everything+ that I wanted the XV6700 to be. By this time I'm "on" nightlies. Then D2 nah, D X nah, nah, nah. D3 ! Yeah!! I thought it would be the second coming. HashCode and all the D3 dev made it so promising. I have 80 GB of memory on it. I am (was) prepared for the future! I didn't know it then, but it kinda all ended with HC's post of the true bleakness of this phone, the D3. I have hung on since reading that post. I am ready to move on. 3 days ago I opened another line so I could get the GNex. I missed the days when I had a 1250 kernel on my D1 and it would be zipping along so fast it would trip over itself..I missed putting roms on my phone developed by devs with a passion to get it right. So, I will check back and see if GB for the D3 is perfected, or, just check in to see hows it going.
In closing I'd like to say that Hard work works, “The three great essentials to achieve anything worthwhile are, first, hard work; second, stick-to-itiveness; third, common sense.”

OK I have a birthday tomorrow and as a present I am moving on to the Galaxy SII (yes, it's FINALLY my turn to say that!). $199 was too good to refuse, especially with 4 flexpays of $50. Two years of battling the Exhibit are enough, wouldn't you say? Anyway I will miss the forum around here a bit, even though we've had a number of departures over the past year. If it wasn't for the good folks in this community the Exhibit would have been retired LONG ago for me. Frankly without a custom ROM/kernel it is a POS device. No other way to put it! At least we have one or two new guys on the block to carry on for those who still have this phone or just got it. I wish them luck. As for myself I can't wait to try all the things that are available on XDA for this device. Hope I don't flash more ROMs than I did for the Exhibit or I will have no life left, LOL.
Anyway for those who are interested, go here for the deal: http://www.hsn.com/products/samsung-galaxy-sii-no-contract-smartphone-t-mobile/7334966
A couple months they ran out and just now got these phones back in stock. At that price I bet they don't have them for long.

Thanks man. Unfortunately HSN just raised the price back up to $249, same as they have it on Amazon. Man glad I didn't procrastinate anymore like I always do. Funny thing is I watched the video presentation they did on TV and I'm thinking how many more they could sell if they promoted the fact you can root & get the latest ROMs out there. Of course if they did that people would know they can get rid of that bloatware! Just think of the poor sheep who will just keep stock ICS on it.

I think that rooting is beyond the scope of most people's interest. As it also voids any warranty, the manufacturer would be slightly against HSN promoting the practice, is my guess.

Oh yeah, sure that's part of it too. Sadly you're right, most people probably wouldn't want to make effort to make their phone better than it is. Too much thinking involved!

They said 4.0 on the commercial and on the website. A friend of mine has one and it has ICS on it. No matter because it will be rooted and updated when I get it. Question will be whether or not to go with a 4.2.2 rom or KitKat. So many apps need to catch up to ART and the whole 4.4 OS system.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Exhibit running AOIP.
Yes. There still needs to be some development before I move to 4.0. I'm very interested, once the system had been around a bit. I don't usually get the x.0 version of any software. To many issues.

BTW if I forgot somebody it wasn't on purpose. Now on to the hard work of rooting and finding a ROM for the new phone. Hopefully I will settle on one or two but if my experience with the Exhibit showed anything it was a penchant for being a fairweather ROM user! I may stop by here every now and then too, afterall I haven't given the Exhibit away to anybody yet.
Lastly if it was one thing I got out of using this phone, it was to appreciate a really good phone once I got it.

hah hah! Congrats sir on the new phone.
I went ahead and plunked some coin for a Nexus 5. It has some sound bugs (some sound is fine with some apps and not others) and the vibration isn't as strong on key presses (but in other areas is fine and a tester app I found shows the vibration motor is fine). Meh, the speed just kicks butt! Also, having 2G of RAM is ..... awesome. The quad core ... anyway .. you get the idea.
I am still thinking of which ROM to put on ... I had cyanogenmod on my other phone and I loved it ... but they're not quite ready.
Take care and thanks for writing man!

Just wanna introduce myself. I'm Matt, and I just picked up my G-Flex yesterday at T-Mobile. This is my first LG but not my first android. I've been rooting, unlocking, modding, theming, bricking, and recovering androids since the DROID 2 days. I'm not claiming to be a dev, but I do know my way around android/ Linux. I am a crack flashing android whore. I was on the RAZR maxx when it came with Gingerbread 2.3.4 and stuck with it through JB 4.1. Moved on to the RAZR HD MAXX on ICS 4.0.4 and followed a couple of the best devs Hashcode and Dan Rosenberg. Was one of the first to profit from Dan's RAZR HD MAXX bootloader exploit. Big props to the first ever to crack a Motorola bootloader.
Shortly after I moved on to the Samsung Galaxy S4 SGH-I337. I can't count the soft bricks I recovered from before Loki and Odin files where released. Bad thing was my phone being rooted was able to be my hot spot, so when bricked I had no way to look up or ask questions. But I some how through trial and error recovered.
I now have the G-Flex on T-Mobile and within a few hours of purchase I'm rooted thanks to the IoRoot method. Thanks to the cat that posted the thread on here for that one in this same General Forum section. And needless to say I've already bricked it twice tonight. Just recovered it and got booted back up and set up.
With all that said, I'm not afraid of testing or helping with any development. I'm not afraid of brick, cuz I'm sure with all the talented devs on xda and myself, I will recover.
Luckily I made a back up of my build-props, system, and recovery so I was able to restore and push thru adb. Also wiped cache, dalvik, and system via adb. And reboot back to stock out of the box. But still a little puzzled how I kept root. Not complaining just puzzled.
If there is anyone working on a TWRP or CWM and Loki please message me and let me know what I can do to help. Like I said I'm not a dev and not claiming to be at all. I'm just brave. And mainly don't know where to start with porting a recovery much less Loki. But I can test and I take instruction well.
Hope I can help excited with the potential of the G-Flex....

nice post man:good:
I think we are pretty close to a recovery here, as a few folks are working on it.
Just like any new phone, it takes awhile for it to "catch on"; especially when all the "reviewers" have been slamming this phone for various reasons.
That makes people slow down jumping on it, but this phone is really fantastic, EPIC battery, great display, fastest phone out right now, and, the more that people ignore the idiot reviewers, and grab this thing, the sooner the development will take off.
The "problem" is that it's so awesum stock out of the box, that there isnt a sense of urgency to mod it! :victory:

I'm loving it too. I'm rooted still and have installed XPOSED installer with "App Settings", "Xtheme engine beta 5"( with HUE theme) , and "Xblast" I've got the same inverted MMS. And I used APP Settings mod to changed the system UI, stock browser, and MMS ppi to 260. And used HUE theme for that AOSP blue feel. Used xblast for nav bar color change. I like the blue / Vanilla look. I guess that's cuz I'm a product of ICS and motoblur. I'm user android tweaker to speed things up a bit and to smooth out scrolling. And Android Tuner Pro to trim on boot and manage things a little. Snap dragon's Battery guru has always made a substantial difference in battery life, but its still in initial learning so I can't give a review on it for the G-Flex. But can't wait to get custom recovery for it and feel lot more comfortable diving into the modding/theming a good bit more.
I've noticed the stock launcher and settings, well really most the stock lg apps are very similar to Touchwiz. I've already tried out the Google Now launcher and "OK Google" does work from the home screen. You don't have to hit or exe any part of Google to be able to take advantage of the hot word command.

I I'm using an app called WIFI TETHER Beta 3.3. It seems to be working just fine. Doesn't ask or check account for subscription.

Nice post @Matt. You probably seen me over @droidrzr.com , I ran the site for the first two years. I picked up the Gflex for ATT a few days ago.
TBH i love this phone. Yeah, its not running the latest version of Android and it has a few quirks however, the reviews from all over the net are killing this device imo.
Tethering, have you tried the good ole SQL hack just to see?
Sent from my LG-D950 using Tapatalk
fortunately, many of the smarter folks out there, that use XDA, dont pay alot of attention to what a bunch of DB reviewers think about phones..I had a one maxx b4 this, and it too was a great phone, slammed by most reviewers.
this phone is tons of fun, and we're pretty close to custom recovery, and a flood of roms.
Yes I have. The hack with SQL by going to settings storage/settings/ then change the authorization line (forgot exactly what it was called. I would know it if I saw it) from a 1 to a 0? Yeah I went looking for it. The way I understand it is they have figured out how to make that one obsolete. Seems as if its a little deeper into the their end of the monitoring rather than the phone just check account subscription. But I using the good ole "WIFI Tether beta 5" apk from a couple years ago and it seems to work. Hasn't added any more data to my WiFi tether usage. And yeah man I remember you. And droidrzr.com. those were the days when I was a crack flasher and barely knew my way around a RAZR. Don't know how many of those I bricked by not reading you couldn't install custom recovery except safe strap unless you had dev edition. Lmao. The RAZR forums always had cool devs willing to help and teach. I went to the GS4 and wow it was like a an ego fueled pissing contest between the biggest smart a$$e$ on the web. No one seemed to want to help just wanted to argue or try to point out that you don't know crap and they know it all. Glad to be out of their forums. And glad to see all these cats on the g flex forums have all been super cool and helpful.
They way it should be.

Yeah @Matt if your not a complete moron and ask the same question over and over again peeps around here are cool.
Yeah, the razrs where the good ole days lol. I went to the note family about 2 years ago and have a note 3 too. I like the Gflex . The pure fact that we have fastboot access is a good sign. I've been talking to hashcode and a few others to see what van be done.
Also, most of the Gpro xposed stuff work on the Gflex if anyone was wondering.
