Hi there! I have some questions regarding the performance on Xperia X8 because I'm feeling I'm not getting 100% out of it... I know there are many posts out there which explain a lot of stuff about performance, but I couldn't find any clear/"easy-understandable" answer for this
I want to have the smoothest performance possible to play games (mostly from Gameloft - I'm already using modified cache/apk) and to browse the internet / navigate the menus / use stupid apps. This is what I've got for now:
-FroyoBread v023b Final
- GO Launcher
- a 16GB Sandisk Class 4 microSD card WITHOUT any partition.. there is just the main partition

- I'm not using any kernel
My questions:
- Should I use another rom?
- Should I use another launcher or the launcher doesn't affect the performance?
- Should I create another partition? If yes, which type? ext2, ext3, ext4? How many MBs should I separate for it?
- Should I use any kernel or any app (chainfire 3d / swapper) to increase performance?
I'm sorry as it may sound like dumb questions, but really, I've searched and I couldn't find any clear answer for them...
Thanks in advance!
i tried all roms, kernel and configuration and the best combination for playing is gingerdx 21,alfs kernel v06 with swap partition using swapper 2,ram manager pro,s97 ram script,sd booster, overclock at 768 mhz and eliminate all unused apps and i play lot of hd games without any lag.my score in quadrant standard is between 1200 and 1300 max and on antutu benchmark is 2000+/-.
i use adw ex,i have 512 mb ext 4 partition.

Answer to your questions:
-If you want performance, stick to your current ROM. People say Froyo have better performance,Gingerbread more features.
-I recommend you use Launcher Pro for best performance. Go Launcher really eats memory.
-For partitions,I'm not sure.
-If you unlocked your bootloader and used a custom kernel, swapper is a must for gaming. Chainfire 3D is a must too. Use plugin Nvidia, reduce texture, size in Chainfire.
Good Luck...
Hit the THANKS button if I helped!!

So, considering both answers, I should:
- stay with FroyoBread, for more stability/performance;
- Create 1 EXT4 partition in my sd card (so, it will have 2 partitions: 1 FAT32 Partition with 15,5GB and 1 EXT4 partition with 512MB);
- Unlock my bootloader and use alfs kernel v06;
- Use another launcher.
Anything else?
EXT4 is not Swap EXT4 is for some App2Sd apps
Use Swapper from android market
Just sharing: Now I'm using Ginger DX + Alfs v6 with 748mhz (OC) and my AnTuTu score rose up from 1500 to 1750~1850 and my Neocore score rose from 47fps to 55~56 fps..
I'm not using Swap nor any ext partition, just the main one formatted as FAT32
I just think that my SD CARD score is too low... is it normal for a class 4 card?
Hi. Just wanted to ask. My SD card is a class 4 16GB Kingston. However on antutu, its score is like 0.3mb/s(write) and 1.5mb/s(read). I do not use swap. Also, most games are installed on the sd card and run very smoothly. What is the problem?

consiglio di flashare anche il kernel neoblaze 280911 che trovate qui sotto:

My screen after first boot just install only antutu and go task manager widget. Thanks boostermbkking.
Edit:add more picture of all apps from this rom (except Antutu, GPS status, LG 2X, Morelocale, Root Explorer, Sygic and XDA)
Thanks
Keep it up.....
thanks for the screenshot, install the neoblazed kernel at the end of first post and do a benchmark!!!
fantastic work, the rom is very fast and apparently solid, no errors are detected at the moment, thank you very much for being the first version, we note that much has been done.
for my taste the most complete roms rom based on the officer, who by the way, do not believe either of them.
thanks so much

Cm7 is an ext4 rom. This one has original kernel in ext3.
you have to convert to ext3 or use neoblaze kernel in 1st post.

Im new in these ext3/ext4 so, how to convert back to ext3 ? Whats the main difference between ext3 and ext4 ? Flashing a ROM with different ext then I now have can do something bad ? (I think no, when I can flash back CM7 without any problems)
Thanks

Tool for converting partitions can be found here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021549
This are Linux filesystem. If you are normal user, no need to worry about it (at least I don`t ). If you wanna know more, google is here .
But, you must to know what file system have your current rom and the rom that you wanna go, to make that even before flashing new rom (it puts you in boot loop if not same).
So, download toll provided by Paul, flash it via cwm, then flash this rom and it should work.
And what if I want to flash an ext4 ROM ? ext4 ROM "overwrites" ext3, so that tool I need to use only when I go from ext4 to ext3, correct ?
I think that that is correct.

Pretty pretty good so far bro! no issues at the moment
Thank you very much for your work!
Downloading right now. 1 small question to begin with. Opening post tells me LG apps removed. But screenshots from a user shows LG crapware. What is removed?

Well, the camera doesnt run very well (freezes, cant take any photo, cant switch to camcoder, cant exit app etc.)
works for me properly, but it works perfectly AndiCp patch
After flashing Neoblaze kernel the camera problems are still there, also there is no lockscreen, the home button is not working etc.
i would like to try this rom , but filesonic is too slow
please give a mirror link
Hello.
Why my internal memory is low (56 mb) but all my aps is linked to SD on a ext4 partition with Link2Sd ?
Where is the problem?
I cleaned and relinked everything and memory still low
Till yasterday my memory was ~110 mb. Maybe Juice defender ultimate is the problem? Is my last installed app.

I encountered this problem once and switched using "INT2EXT4+" instead, you don't have to manually move stuff with that script and I havent noticed any problem with it.
Use titanium backup to backup all your apps if you're not already using it.

ok
how to use INT2EXT4+ ?
I don't have an app like Link2SD.
Try going to data/local with a root explorer and delete .apk files in there. Link2sd sometimes makes a copy when linking apps and they end up in there, just taking up internal space.

The tutorial is in the link. It makes the phone have more "internal" storage (using the space from the SD card) so all you gotto do is to install apps and they will work as they usually do. You have to partition your SD-card, just search "partition SD card xda" on google and ull find a tutorial for that.
Used amarulz script dude it can make our internal memory higher with make our sdext become internal i have 1.5GB for internal but u must deleted other script with similar function to avoid bootloop..

yeah because some ROM already have script sdext u must remove it before using amarulz script..
use rootexplorer go to system>etc>init.d
When you link apps to sd-ext, the data from all those applications still stay on internal memory. Those consumes a lot of space. Better try moving movable applications to sd card.
Even I also faced the same problem on an earlier ROM. Didn't find a solution though.
Hello Guys,
I am using samsung galaxy ace installed with 2.3.5.
This phone has all the default settings and now it is out of warranty too.
The phone has problem with internal memory and also there are few games that cannot be played due to 800MHz clock cpu.
Can someone provide me the action items that can help my phone to perform better in terms of Memory, CPU clock. I have seen videos and read forums but confused with the steps that needs to be taken.
I am expecting steps(In Detail) that will make me feel better when I use this phone after this.
Your help is very much appreciated.

Hi,
Welcome to the World of CUSTOM ROMs..
I guess the below steps might help you...
1. Install CWM recovery on your phone as described below...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465599
2. Download and install the zip from the below forum.. I am using this one and its just Awesome... If you want some stock ROM or any other versions you can always search for it...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2011671
3. Put the zip in you SD card... Reboot in recovery and then install from zip... (wipe cache n others to reset your data)
Please let know in case of any issues...
You can always hit the Thanks button if I have helped you...
---------- Post added at 12:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:08 PM ----------
One slight change.. Installing CM 10.1 might not improve your performance and all...
Follow step 1. Then try installing light stable ROMS like...
Droid Ace
3. Now try out scripts and tweaks like Adrenaline Engine, Project Silk etc,,
Project Silk
This might be helpful...
R: [Q] Need to Improve my samsung galaxy ace
I think you should do this steps:
1) root the phone
2) install CWM recovery and backup everything
3) use Pimp My Rom app from market to apply tweaks to the stock rom (build.prop mods, add init.d folder to system in order to install scripts, add governor to stock kernel and so on) wich is best in terms of stability and battery recovery
4) install Seedere Entropy Generator
5) remove system app you don't use to free space on internal memory (I mean Samsung Store, Social Hub, MTV app or stuff like that)
5) install script if you want
6) maybe if you need to use a lot of apps create an EXT4 partition on SD card and link app to SD
BE CAREFUL WHILE DOING THIS THINGS AND THE FIRST TWO STEPS HAVE TO BE FOLLOWED IN THE INDICATED ORDER AND HAVE TO BE DONE. I'M NOT RESPONSABLE FOR ANY DEMAGE TO YOUR DEVICE!
Good luck

if u create ext4 part usin cwm, yes. u ll lose all data on sd. so u need backup. but with gparted or for windows users, minitool partition tool, u can keep them. any case, u should backup.
Also after flash the script, probably u have to wipe data/factory reset.

i haven't used swapper, but if you're going to use a swap file, you don't need a swap partition.
The message shows ext partition is supported & you don't have ext partition ...
About swap, if you're noob use other apps to create swap file(instead of partition)(apps like ram expander {not sure about the name}
Creating swap file with Swapper needs a lot of hard work, so forget it
#set swappiness to 40 or 60 for gaming otherwise 10 - 20 is enough
