hey my screen on my I9001 got a black border now.. I think that happened after i watched some videos which had strange dimensions, or like 16 to 9 or 16 to 10 I dunno what dimensions the phone has, never looked up for it, but I guess it happened after i switched to fullscreen... i used the default video player from:
GT-I9001_BRI_I9001ZSKP6_I9001OZSKP6_I9001ZSKP6 2.3.6 Asian ROM
I watched a .flv video, and some videos on youtube afterwards, few minutes later i noticed this border (like few pixels) So i dunno what caused it...
I am very sorry to start a new thread for this but i culdnt find anything similar which could have helped me...
Any clues ?
Have you tried a reboot already?
Yep i rebooted.. Still there...

No, really no idea how this might have happened. Are you absolutely sure that is has not been like that before? The only way to find that out IMO would be a complete factory reset which deletes all of your data.
heya, im pretty sure about the border, because now theres black space between the edge of the screen...
that sucks so hard..... I wanted to test other roms, so i guess thats a good opportunity to get rid of the prob aswell :>
Most probably, you just didn't notice those borders before.

Has anyone experienced any sort of tear or glitch on the screen once in a while? It doesn't happen a lot and is barely noticeable. Comes once in a while. Is this a hardware problem of some sort?

Havent noticed what you describe, but while watching a streaming video in the stock browser i noticed a white dot in lower right corner of screen and upper left. Looks like lcd is going out. But if i move the window, it fills in. But it comes back randomly.
Its like driver isnt communicatung with the screen correctly or something. . . . . .
Idk.
I flashed back to stock. Problem gone. Go back to gingerbread. Its back.
I believe i read somewhere that its an sgs driver and not even for the tab. Did i imagine reading that or could this be the problem at the base of all our gingerbread issues? It has happened on stock, with and without cf root, overcome beta 1 and 2.
Seems to me that this new gingerbread is a lemon. I mean just look at all the problems people are having with it.

Thanks for the reply. It just really bothered me.

I have been noticing a weird thing with my Droid 3. I love the phone. I haven't had any issues. I do get this annoying green screen effect during transitions. It only seems to happen if I have Netflix or Youtube running in the background. I can fix the problem by going into my settings and turning off my screen animations. I am in the process of getting it exchanged. I will let you know if it is just a fluke or maybe a possible issue with the phone software.
Is this happening to anyone out there with a Droid 3?
video coming soon. Still uploading
I have the same problem between screen changes

My wifes did that too, but she was using just texts. I turned off animations and to save battery, and noticed it hadn't come back yet. Thought maybe I was only one
Edit: she says it still does it...hmmm dunno...hope it gets fixed in next update

tried to replicate the problem on mine, but didn't have any issues. Hmm.
Green is usually an overlay color when drawing from a framebuffer. This just means something is forcing screen output before the frame is fully drawn. It's an out-of-sync drawing issue somewhere in the software or driver and isn't a hardware problem. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless it happens so often that it annoys you. It's not hurting anything.
I've seen this as well with youtube...I've also seen it show a partial view of my homescreen while transitioning between menus....not a big deal, but hopefully it'll get fixed soon

Happened to my wifes and my phone today. Kept going to green screen when trying to open the camara app. Had to reboot to make it go away. Im also on my third droid 3 phone. First one scratched the paint finish next to the keyboard when sliding open. The second droid 3 the speaker sounded like it was shorting out when calling or talking to someone.

I had this problem, it went away after a reboot. Haven't seen it since.

Have you tried rebooting the phone, instead of getting it replaced? A reboot can work wonders.

wife's phone did this while in camera mode. looked lik she was peering into the matrix. rebuffer or not, it's an obvious software glitch. i factory reset her phone so that vzw would log the activation.

Yeah, a stuck app that is unable to redraw will do the same thing but instead of a flash it's a permanent green-screen until the app is force closed or the phone is rebooted. I've had the camera do this to me a few times and Motorola has already come forward saying the camera app has problems, including this one, that they're working on.
i could live with an occasional software glitch if everythign wasn't so dammed slow. i've yet to see this phone actually perform a function faster than my D2. the software overhead is unbelievable.

Well we could be in luck, it looks like root on the D3 could very likely happen sometime this week. 2.3.4 has been successfully rooted with the phone already on 2.3.4 and the bootloader still locked. We have P3 all over it now, too.

I have the same problem, i get the screen flicker going between handecent and my homescreen running prolauncher. i've had my droid 3 for a couple weeks and after rooting and freezing all that junk, I'm quite happy with the phone. other than this weird green pixel matrix screen... thing..
Not a huge issue, just a lil annoying.

Hello guys,
I've noticed something, that to me, seems strange about the display in the 4x HD.
Usually in black backgrounds. What i see is some kind of "static", as if there were little waves moving when i focus on the black background. I can see that on some dark grey backgrounds too. Anyway, another easy way for me to see it is to open the notification bar. It's easy to see on the transparent part with a black background behind it.
Is this normal? I tried to look for those things in my old xperia arc, but i couldn't find it.
Neither did i find any topics on this.
This would be a bad thing for me, since i've just gotten a new 4x (the first one i got had those "particles' of dust in the screen). And it was really hard to make them give me a new one. Now it would be pretty much impossible.
I don't really think it's a big deal, i guess, but you know, just to be sure.
Thank You!

Its not a normal behavior, I already had that once or twice but, maybe because I don't care a lot with the phone, sometimes I seat on it... or it falls... I care but not like if it was made of glass...
Try to squeeze it gently when that happends, maybe some kind of bad contact of the display, if doesn't disappear take it to the service center (unless if you live in Poland of course...).
To the OP: that actually happened to mine once. All I did was a simple reboot and everything was back to normal. It was kinda weird.
I don't know if you experienced the same thing that i did. They don't seem to go away. They are always there. After reboot too. I'll update firmware cause i haven't done that yet. Then i'll post back.
Thank You!

I have them alltime too, but i tried with different versions (v10d, v10f, now v10g) and still.
hello, i am coming from the nexus 4.
Finally i got my Htc one and i love it, but im having some lags, while im scrolling through the screens. Its like a little stottering.
Now im asking myself if it is normal, cause i just have three screens in use and just two widgets (original from sense) in use.
It's just not as fluid as i wished it would be. I reseted the phone, and als already wiped everything.
i would really apreciate any help or tip, or if somebody could post his experience.
thanks

Hello thats strange i even have a heavy live wall paper and absolutly no lag.....
0 lag here, on anything that I've done on this phone,
Bit of a pain but you could try a wipe? I have had no lag at all when moving through home screens.
Don't expect it to be lag free out of the box until a few OTA's. HTC one x had more than five ota updates and ever since JB which came after 6 months it's been super fluid.

No homescreen lag for me, either, and I have plenty of widgets as well as the built-in Weather Live Wallpaper. I've seen the occasional in-app lag, but Sense has been surprisingly fluid.
So your n4 had less lag?
If anything after you flash a custom ROM I'd put money on these little issues being resolved

Yeah, the nexus 4 was less laggy ist not that its always laggy but some times the screens react a lttle to late.
But can it be an hardware issue? Cause everything else just works fine and its hard to get one.
Heres a short vid so you can imagine what i mean.
Had this phone for more than 2 months now and never had any lag

Could anyone post a short vid to compare, cause i really think about returning it to amazon..
This phone has no lag ..... Been using it since April 20th.

Already wiped the device twice, but didn't help, still laggy while swiping through the screens.Sometimes more sometimes less. I dont even use the Batterysafe mode.
I see your phone was searching for network, this may caused your "lag"

There will be some minor lags here and there.. this isn't a light aosp Rom that's 250mb or less. Sense is over a gig in size. Far from light. Be patient and 4.2.2 aosp will come eventually.

its even like this in airplane mode, i really dont know if to wait for the next Ota or to send it back, cause the scrolling through the screens reminds me if the galaxy s3 times.

No lag at all, did you copy all your data directly from your nexus to your one? Could be that something that's either been restored from there or titanium is playing merry havoc with your shiney new phone. Try cleaning up your internal memory and try to avoid restoring anything and see if the problem persists, then restore things one thing at a time til you find the culprit.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
first of all i want to thank you all for your quick answers, im really thankfull for that.
I havent restored anything from my nexus, a i wrote above the device was even wiped twice and i have just installed maybe ten applications from the store. im just worried cause everybody writes that there is absolutly no lag, but i defenetly feel one.
And one more question, is your gallery app also so lagy while scrolling through the pics?
And there where some images. and songs from Htc before i wiped everything, can anybody tell me how to restore them?
t-mobile stock everthing here. (1.27)
i noticed it too.
Especially when scrolling around tapatalk, htc one is noticeably laggier than nexus 4. disappointing.
I have a problem where i run a few apps, and the pics (that are downloaded to be view) are clear while im on wifi. but when im on mobile, even LTE, the pics are blurry, like they are pixelated.
Did i trip an option to compress data, to save on data, when on a mobile connection?
what gives?
please help
Well since i didnt get any replies, i did some more research. I went to the sprint store and tried the stock phone on display, SAME thing happens. So its not my phone thats the problem. For kicks though, I went to the Note 3 and ran the same app, and it WAS pixelated as well, totally different phone!
So i dug some more, and I see many people are experiencing the problem:
https://community.sprint.com/baw/message/751345#751345
None of yall are experiencing this?
Sounds like your connection is slower than your wifi to fully render the picture.
Try this on Google images give it a few to see if a picture is fully rendered
Sent from my LG-D950 using Tapatalk
Eh..... Did you read the link?
Everything else on a page or in an app renders, would be strange to be just images not. Don't know what you mean by Google images

Just search for an image any image.
When I did it took longer for it to render completely than my wifi. It all has to do with your connection.
Some images need a little more time on a network to render. Happen to every phone I had, but I'm on att and I'm throttled a week into my bill which is my problem.
Sent from my LG-D950 using Tapatalk
The problem is... The images NEVER fully render. Throttle means slow to render fully, not don't render fully at all
It's got to be your networking unless it's that app. Since you also tried with a note 3 and it was the same.
Can you post the app I'll try it and see if anything changes.
