[Q] Remove App Market Link *fixed* - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been trying to unlink my Power Amp music app from my market recently since the latest version has a problem with Hero roms it seems. The older 1.4 version works flawlessly and I keep a backup of it with Titanium.
Titanium can detach the app from the market, but that never sticks for some reason. Power Amp shows back up in my update list again. Any clues on how to stop this?
~Edit~
It appears the reason the market link would magically reappear is some mis-configured settings in Titanium. Fixed those to where it side loads all apps when restoring them from backup and I haven't had any trouble so far.

how do I have to configure it that this damn link does not appear again?

Apps not working with Donut? Post here.

Since it seems impossible to read anything on cyanogens experimental thread without page after page of complaints that apps are not working. This has nothing to do with his ROM (for the most part), and should not be clogging up that thread. My suggestion is if there is an app issue, post it here for others to discuss, or just stay off of experimental builds.
I will begin with Bluex not working. The new framework will not allow root access to bluex. I have contacted the dev, but no response. The devs blog has not been touched in a few months, and I worry it has been abandoned.
Well I will keep this list up to date.
Power Manager: some icons to desable certain functions don't work (GPS)
T-Mobile My Account: Quick Tools tab causes FC
dg alert classic
I've had a problem with dg alert classic, I've uninstalled and reinstalled all to no avail, and this is the best app for managing ringtones and alerts
these havent worked for me:
Bluex - Bluetooth Fileshare: can send but not recieve (with root) as error appears when enabling server.
Toggle Settings: app force closes
Taskiller: widget doesnt update as it should (rest of the app works fine)
will update if i find more
Weather Channel and Weatherbug Elite: A 8x8 portion of the map wont update.
Youtube downloader: When trying to open a video it reboots the phone entirely. Fixed Permisions and running fine now. Im dumb =P
Amazon Mobile: Cannot Press the I accept button. ( I got around this by just copying the datastore.xml file from my wife's G1.)
Gameboid: Im not 100% sure this is a donut issue but nothing will play for me.
wysinc plus doesnt work for me
power manager 1.6 force closes before starting
MixZing - Cant access settings.
Alarming! - I made a post about in in a separate thread, but the alarm volume just is horrible!! Wouldn't wake up a baby even with V7 audio mod.

If you wiped data and then upgraded to donut you need to reinstall the apk/program. I had that problem with force closes as soon as I clicked on the program before. A simple reinstall will do the trick and no its not a CM or Donut issue, thats just the way that is lol.
ToggleSettings and Useful switcher dont work. Most likely because the donut framework is all different

Verified Weather app with the 8x8 block in the lower left not updating. (Weather Channel app in my test).
Havent tried Youtube app yet. I remember cyan fixing something with this a couple revisions back. Are you running the latest (4.1.10.1 or 4.1.11.1?)
Can also verify on the Weather Channel 8x8 block not updating. This problem came up a while ago..On one of Cyan's recent experimental ROM's. probably 4.1.4. I am using his most recent, 4.1.11.1, and the problem still exists. Tried reinstalling, doesn't work. the 8x8 block seems to appear on apps other than google maps, that use the map function. Places Directory is another app that has that 8x8 block.

I need to edit the post on that one, Youtube downloader only crashes my phone when opening a video from inside that app. I can use SUFBS and open the videos just fine once they are downloaded. Im running 11.1.....UPDATE lol as I was typing this I though hey I should fix permissions and see if that helps. It works fine now =P
Yaboiaj THanks for the tip on Gameboid!

Not only, but settings gives FC.
Also,
Budgetroid - Forceclose when opening. Gives same logcat error as Alarming FC.
Ustream won't work and Pandora seems to cause my phone to reboot. a couple of times but not all.
app manager pro ive noticed doesnt work.....
Donut issues
I have found that somthing has changed with the way SQL works.
What i have noticed if u have an app that was previously installed that needed to create a table it works fine on donut but if you happened to wipe or delete your tables when going to donut alot of apps fail trying to create a new table. I am not saying this is the case for all apps.. but 3 of my own i had to recode to use tables a little differently and a few other apps im seeing identicle error logs as my apps were giving
Moxier Mail doesn't seem to work with Donut. You can setup your account sync, but after the setup is complete and it tries to switch to the main mail list screen, FC.

[Q] Problems with Market..

Hi everyone!
I have searched,,, and not found an answer..
I am trying to update Titanium Back and Beautiful Widgets but the downloading status bar on my Nexus One does not change.
My Nexus One is rooted and runs a Modaco Rom which I only updated last week..
I deleted Titanium Backup and thought I would re-boot and then download again, but when I access the Market, the two apps are still trying to download.
I try force close but nothing resolves the problem.
Any advice much appreciated!

I think the market (on Google's end) was having problems earlier. I decided to do a clean wipe of my phone last night and couldn't get the market to work at all, download unsuccessful, download paused, stuck at starting download. Found lots of threads on Google Support Forums, and a long one in the Galaxy S forum here on XDA. People were suggesting everything from clearing cache to removing and reinserting sim cards.
Bottom line, it seems to be working perfectly now, haven't had a failed download in the last couple hours. Don't know if Google is having market issues or not but it doesn't seem to be phone/rom dependent.
Thanks!
I still have the same problem.
I downloaded Titanium Back via a website and not the Market. It is the latest version, and I also paid, via the Market for the Pro licence.
But I still get the same problem with the Market continually trying to download both Titanium Backup and Beautiful Widgets.
edit - tried deleting data for the Market App, and on the third try, with re-boot, problem has resolved.
Unfortunately, icons in some of my GDE screens have disappeared.

NYTimes Issues

Starting yesterday, the NYTimes app for tablet crashed on me every time I opened it. Tried uninstalling with Titanium Backup, soft reset, restore (app only), but to no avail: it crashes every time after opening, whenever I try to scroll.
What's odder still is that when I locate the app in the web market (which I couldn't do directly yesterday, for some reason) and attempt to install it, all of my devices, including the Xoom, are greyed out.
If I search for the app from the market on my Xoom, it doesn't even show up (although the phone app does. At one point, briefly, I was getting a message about my download being cancelled due to incompatibility. Now, however, once I can get to the app's page in the market, when I try to install, I get "The requested item could not be found.")
Finally, if I manage to get to a web from which I can click a link that will take me directly to the NYTimes tablet app page in the market, after I click "install" I get: "purchase cancelled - your device is not compatible with this item."
The only thing I can think of that I've changed on my end is having upgraded from 3.0 to 3.1 recently, but I did not notice whether the NYT app quit working immediately after the upgrade or later.
I would really appreciate any help with this one. Thanks
when I upgraded to 3.1, almost any app I restored from Titanium Backup would FC immediately when run. Didn't matter whether I restored the app only or app+data.
Clearly there's an incompatibility between Titanium Backup and the way apps are installed or stored in 3.1.

I've had some weird Ti Backup issues as well, but this also seems to involve the market.
Can anyone else comment as to whether they're able to see the nytimes tablet app in the market, or install it on a xoom running 3.1? Thanks
In my searches, I came across at least one user with a verizon xoom running 3.1, and he claimed to be able to download and use this app from the market.
The app has been updated since my original post from 1.01 to 1.03, and a look at the reviews indicates that the upgrade may have fixed the issue, but unfortunately, I cannot get the app.
I would be hugely grateful if anyone, especially someone with a verizon xoom, could take a look to see whether they are able to download this app (and if they can, is there some way for me to get it?). Thanks
I'm on a Verizon Xoom.
It's not showing for me anymore, either. Only the phone app is.

Finally figured out how to remove "facebook for lg" app

Ok so after months of trying to figure out how to get facebook and twitter for lg off of this phone, I figured it out. My revo is rooted and I have cwm with the decrapped rom from thecubed. The actual apk file is called sns.apk (short for social networking service). I backed it up, then froze the app using titanium backup. Voila! No more facebook or twitter for lg. I don't know if anyone else has figured this out, but I thought I would share
SWEETTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Most Excellent find. This should go in the list of useful apps to freeze. Great!!
Any non-rooted solutions??

I really doubt it, but is there a way to remove or freeze apps if your phone isn't rooted? Also, can't you just uninstall the apps instead freezing them? Or does that cause a problem somehow?
Thanks! I was wondering what SNS was...frozen now!

You can uninstall them.. but freezing to me is better.. if we do get the gingerbread update and you are still pretty stock with some frozen apps, you can un freeze and then do the update and you should be fine.. much easier than uninstalling the app and then having to reinstall them.
I noticed after reflashing decrapped 1.1 the facebook for lg icon came back and it also showed up as an option for sharing a pic. I looked in titanium backup and it said it was still frozen, when I hit unfreeze it said apk file not found, so I hit uninstall. That was successful, then I flashed mtmichaelsons revolt rom and since he hasnt gotten bluetooth working on it I reflashed again back to decrap 1.1. The icons came back and I went to tibu again. I hit restore and it said it was successful, but then the icons disappeared. I don't really care if this program is deleted permanently from the phone, but I am wondering why it keeps popping up like that and why it's acting like that in tibu. Not a major issue for me, just odd

now that we have root, what should/shouldn't we kill

would it be wise to compile a list of the bloatware that we should and should not kill, now that we have root? Also, perhaps the best method to deal with it (Freeze, rename, or outright delete)
Here's what I've successfully removed without any problems so far:
Apps 1.02.16
Backup Assistant 2.3.4
Backup Assistant Client 1.0
Blockbuster 0.8
Citrix Receiver 2.1.1059
Ctiy ID 1.1.7

What type of updates? I made backups of everything first so I can go back and restore everything and freeze it instead... I don't know if I want to though as everything seems good so far.

i see no one has listed DLNA as a safe to freeze. I know it is constantly running on my D3 and am wondering if its safe to freeze or not.
Even after freezing DLNA, like a couple other apps like Task Manager and Voice Commands, it still seemed to stay resident. After doing an actual uninstall and reboot, I was good. (I did get an infinite force close loop, thus requiring the reboot. I seemed to be able to hold the power button and tap the force close then the shutdown item fast enough to avoid needing a battery pull.)
I agree we shouldn't have multiple threads for the same topic. I think we should take further discussion over to the more trafficked one:

Agreed... we should move this over to the other thread.... can one of the mods close this down?
Can anyone upload backups for these files for those of us (ahem) who went a little gung-ho on deleting apps instead of freezing? (meh bad).
