ive recently tried to install a couple of applications on my galaxy mini only to discover that according to the google market 'words with friends', 'box.com' and 'tumblr' are not compatible with 'this phone'. now ive used tumbler before on my old x10 mini pro and had no issues there so why would the market think the phone is not compatible with that particular app and the other 2 ive mentioned. any ideas guys. i am still running on a rooted stock room 2.3.4 that came on the phone.
Every phone has a different specifications and hardware and these are classified by android market
by this way the apps for every phone are differentiated by market, thats why u don't get the apps u have mentioned above
if u really want those apps try to download them from other sources or websites
Whenever I get that error, I just google the apk and install. Though I wouldn't recommend this on HD games or the likes because it will not run. Try experimenting what works or not. It's not that harmful really.
Thanks, got all the apps i used to use and all working fine, even got bbc iplayer which workd great

So, now that gingerbread has been released and the fact that it was "geared towards gaming", have we even seen ANY games released specifically for it? I've tried googling, looking in market, etc, etc, etc. but anything I search on google returns nothing but news about the release of gingerbread and anything i search on market returns...nothing.
I'm deployed overseas right now and some new games would be pretty awesome to tinker around with.
I haven't noticed any new for gb games, but I have noticed that a few games that I couldn't play on my aria/froyo due to fc issues now run flawlessly on cm7.

are you able to play "gun bros" i cant firgure out why its not playin ..i think its time for a new phone
.
Aria is not the best gaming platform as many of the good games uses ARMv7 instructions while our beloved Aria has just a ARMv6 cpu :/
One thing I have noticed is that I cannot run Need For Speed Shift on CM7. I could run it with no problems on CM6 but it shows the splash screen and then shuts down. I tried reinstalling it several time, and nothing. Has anyone else tried any graphics intensive games on CM7? NFS is the only one I have.
Every other game runs just fine. Robo Defense Full ran just fine on CM6 and just as good on CM7 for me.
Even though It works on TP, it said 'not supported device' and can't play video. Anybody has an idea how to fix it?

There is a hacked hulu apk out there, that works on almost all android devices. Google it and you'll find it pretty easily. Mind you it is the phone version so you need to rotate to portrait to browse.

You can edit build.prop to emulate a supported device.

So far these don't work for me on 4.1.1:
HBOgo
WatchESPN
TWC TV
SiriusXM Internet
For a device that's supposedly optimized for Google Play, these are pretty major apps to not have working. Although, I'm sure it's just a matter of time before they do, but I'd like to have them working before I upgrade to the next nextgen tablet.
Any others?
Has nothing to do with Google or your purchase. The makers of the apps need to update them. Contact them to make sure they are aware.

When they say optimized for Google play I think they're talking about their content, not ESPN HBO etc...

Been trying for about two days to get this working, was really annoying me that when i got the nexus 7, i could not use i player.
So here it is for the others that are having problems with it.
Install the two apk's attached.
If you have been trying to get it working with other versions of iplayer and flash, please go into app manager and clear the cache and data of these apps before opening them.
go to apps and launch i player and enjoy.
No need to use other browsers now.
just installed those files, working well. thanks.
Nice one cheers

I have installed BBC iPlayer and flash player and cleared the data like you said but when I open BBC iplayer chrome opens up and says I ned to update flash. What should I do thank you
Simple indeed but The picture quality is a bit crud with this method _ if u install flash and Firefox or dolphin mini and set to desktop user agent you can just go to the iPlayer website and select and the stream adjusts to your bandwidth and you can view the HD streams too! You have to put up with the flakiness of flash in a browser but you can still watch in glorious techno vision.

Works great, but couldn't get dolphin to work with flash and Firefox isn't compatible,so I'm really grateful for this until we get an official app.

Fantastic all working.

Edited: I meant to say use the Firefox beta from play and then set request desktop - then go to normal iPlayer website.
So far is most stable way to get high quality viewing and HD options. HD stuff looks awesome - other versions just look poo in comparison.
If u want to show someone iPlayer on N7 then the above is the easiest and best imo

Funny thing that, im no expert here, but when i wiped the Nexus and re installed the i player and flash as i said above, i got the same thing. Perhaps someone with more knowledge could explain. But also i Rooted the device and set the dpi to 160 for tabley mode before i installed. Maybe that has something to do with it.

I installed Firefox Beta from the play store, it works if before going to the iplayer site you set it to Desktop mode.
Nice one, works a treat!

I was born in England, and as such I really like all the tv programmes ect, but the app says it only works in the UK.

That's because here in the UK we pay a hefty licence fee for the privilege.
I was using firefox beta + sideloaded flash, but will give this a go. Thanks OP.
Hey all,
I've got my Xperia Z for a few days now and I'm really enjoying it, except for the fact that there are a lot of apps I'd really like to install, but can't.
When I search for these apps in the Play store, I simply can't find them - they are not showing up. When I search them on Google and open the Play store in Chrome, I get a notification saying these apps aren't compatible.
An example of an app I can't find and download is Doodle Jump. What's the reason that I can't install these apps? And will they be compatible soon or is this a hardware issue? Like everyone else, I'm using Android 4.1.2.
Thanks in advance
Its because the developer hasn't uodated the app for 1080p screens
If your rooted and dont want to wait google modoco and look at his website. Hes created a version of play store thay will work
