[Q] System sounds overrides (i.e. kills) other media sounds - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

(Sorry if this already has been posted somewhere else)
When I listen to music, an audio book or some other media, that media is muted while a notification sound (e-mail, etc) sounds. This is - of course - very annoying since the movie, audio book is interrupted (but not stopped).
On my HTC Desire the music kept playing also when a notification sound was playing.
Is there some way to make the notification sounds play at the same time as other audio streams?

Hi there,
I use PowerAMP, and this issue didn't appeared to me yet.
When I receive a message or something, I just hear the ringtone softly through my music.

Seems like the sound issue is based on how each app uses the notification sounds.
Some apps does use the same "audio-channel" as my music player, and that interrupts/pauses the music. Other apps uses some other audio-channel and notifications though those apps executes their softly through my music.
It doesn't mather what ROM etc you are using.
I just have to live with this.

[Q] Hide custom notification sounds from music player?

Right, first of all I know about the .nomedia trick; moving on.
Recently got the Galaxy S, I like it a lot after coming from the omnia and windows mobile, haven't really been having any lag problems (although i voodoo'd myself up anyway) but one thing is bothering me.
I like having a custom sound for my SMS notification as the stock ones included are all a bit effeminate for my tastes, so I went out and I downloaded the power up sound from Super Mario Bros 3 and it makes a fine SMS notification sound.
However, it appears in the music player too and it is rather jarring to jump from some sweet heavy metal to the sound of mario getting a mushroom. I gave the .nomedia thing a try and then my sms notifications went silent and I realised it was being hidden from the notification ringtones list too.
So does anyone know if there is any way to hide an item from the music player but still have it selectable as a notifications ringtone?
Cheers
Try to use a different music player instead, winamp is already on andriod altho it beta but its works great!

[Q] How to stop mic button from starting media player?

I did several searches, but was unable to find an answer to this. I hope one of you can enlighten me
I recently installed the "Listen" app to listen to podcasts. When i plug in the stock headphones that come with the Captivate and then click the mic button on it, it will bring up & control the media player playback instead of Listen. Is there a way to configure the behavior of this button? Is there a way to keep it from bringing up the Media Player app and instead control the Listen app?
Thanks!
I've been having the same issue. I installed winamp, but I get the same thing.
I installed doubleTwist, and it looks like it properly takes over button so that the stock music player app is no longer launched. Does this mean Listen is not doing it right?

[Q] Music and notifications

Couldn't find this elsewhere so, if I'm listening to music (either via Walkman app or Google Music) through my headphones and get a text, it will lower the music and play the notification tone. I wouldn't mind but if I put the phone in silent/vibrate so I can listen to my music without interruption it simply lowers the audio AND not play the notification sound which is pointless.
So basically is there anyway to stop notifications interfering with my music volume? The only suggestions I could find were silent/vibrate but like I say, doesn't seem to help. Stupid thing is if it's on loudspeaker and I have it on silent it doesn't interfere.

I don't think the Walkman app has that setting.

Is there a way to prevent music from pausing during navigation?

I was surprised that rather than attenuating music playback the One pauses music when Waze or Google Navy is announcing an upcoming turn.

Not sure on that one, it might be app specific. For instance, last time I was listening to Pandora and navigating, the phone simply turned down the volume on the music while the navigator was talking. In the HTC Music app, it muted the music but it kept playing(annoying, since I was listening to an audio book...) and in Google Play Music, it would pause it.
unremarked is correct. I use PowerAmp and theres an option to pause the music or play the notification along with the music and thats what i use. I prefer the way iOS handles it though. The music goes lower while the notification sound plays. But i haven't found a way to make it work that way.

So this morning I got into the car and continued to stream music to my device via Google Music. I needed to make an unplanned detour so I fired up Waze to calculate a quick route avoiding traffic. Much to my delight the music I was streaming attenuated when Waze spoke, just like it used to do on my iPhone. I was so jazzed and my kids were probably wondering why. So at the next light I switched to the HTC player and no dice. Same behavior as before, muting/pausing music whenever Waze spoke directions. Finally I decided to try Pandora (which I haven't been able to stream to my car in the week I've had the One) and not only did Pandora play through the car speakers, it too attenuated when Waze spoke. I haven't tried this with Google Nav.
So what's changed since yesterday? Well I booted into Safe Mode (per HTC rep's suggestion) to troubleshoot a bluetooth volume issue and that didn't do anything other than remove some of my folders on one of my home panels. That bluetooth volume issue is a separate issue and it was not resolved through Safe Booting the device. Also, it appears there was an update to Google Music so that may have resolved the music pausing issue. Either way, I'm not sure what I did or what happened to the device to fix this behavior but I'm very happy to experience this expected behavior between music (except for the HTC native player) and nav.

Question Bluetooth sound pauses

Theres an issue I am facing that when playing a media for example in whatsapp listening to voice message if a message is received the sound stops in Bluetooth earbuds for a second while voice message keeps playing. Is there a way to fix this issue ? Same happens in youtube when you receive message.
I bellive you're talking about a feature not a bug. If so it's not an issue, it's a setting. Go to settings>sound and vibration>sound assistant and toggle Multipple sound sources on. Keep in mind that I just tried to translate the settings' names so they might not be exact. Look for something similiar.

No it didn't worked still getting sound pauses.
Anyone know how to fix this ?
It's about music player.
Spotify didn't pause music but lower volume for hearing notification sound.
Onkyo pause music and continue after notification sound.
