I got 25 paypal dollars for anyone willing to help me Fix My AT&T Thrill. I diddnt understand that changing the baseband would affect my ability to use data and make calls. I flashed the 21b lg920 baseband on my phone and can longer make calls or use data without a Force Close, I need to get my baseband back to stock or my ROM back to stock. I would like to stay on gingerbread as the ROM is stable and fast but If I can't so be it, I just need to be able to use my data and phone again.

I have an i9000M which is unlocked and is being used with Rogers. Previously I was on the JH2 firmware and had no issues sending/receiving MMS messages, however once I updated to JK3 I found I could no longer receive them. I assumed this was a quirk with JK3 as it was pre-release so I just waited until the next version came along. I updated to JK4 and I was still unable to receive MMS messages. They simply say "downloading" and never finish.
I checked my APN settings on both firmwares and they are the same as before when it was working, I got them from here:
http://thekidd.ca/blog/2009/05/rogers-apn-configuration-for-android-phones/
Has anybody else run into this?
When updating I used Odin for both jk3 and jk4, and on the upgrades I did not do a full wipe. Once on JK4 I found my phone to be highly unstable so I did a full wipe and downgraded to JK3 then restored my apps and settings using titanium backup. I tested MMS before doing the restore and it was non-functional.
Any help would be appreciated
Try this:
Name: Rogers
APN: rogers-core-appl1.apn

Go to Mobile network settings and go to SMSC Settings and put in +13123149810 click update. This number is for ATT US. Try looking up your SMSC Android settings on your carrier and putting it in andn hopefully it works. If not try restarting and see if it works then. Make sure u have all of your APN settings setup for your carrier 2.
I Have Radio 01.97.00R http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1128963
I upload my APN for AT&T, (Update) Should be able to send and receive pictures and video to and from people for At&t only!
Download ApnManager From Market.
Put ApnManager Folder in to the internal sdcard.
Open ApnManager and click resort APN. See if u can now send and receive, If not try restarting.
My old APN had Custom Tethering that messed up Picture Messaging! You can try deleting that if u can't send or receive pictures!2.
This doesn't work for me. My SMSC number was already the one you listed, and MMS doesn't work still...
so how many APN's are listed on your setting....i have 4 (AT&T US, AT&T HSDPA, AT&T US Tether, AT&T US MMS)
i get mms now, but i got a much slower speed. around 1MB download and upload speed.
also, which one are you generally suppose to be connected to? I'm connected to AT&T US
EDIT: Actually i just found out, after about 10 minutes, your phone should be fully logged into their server. I live in Las Vegas so the territory has VERY fluctuant connection, i had moments where id get 7.2MB and then jumps down to 0.8MB. Alright, so the apn worked perfectly.
i had to enter a mms apn for fido to get mms working, smsc number was already there for my carrier. here's the settings.
Fido mms
apn: mms.fido.ca
mmsc http://mms.fido.ca
mms proxy: 205.151.011.013
mcc: 302
mnc: 370
apn type: mms
Still having issues sending and receiving MMS, I had it working previously but don't know what has changed. I've got everything set correctly per the instructions. Does anyone have any other possible solutions... though I did find it a tad weird that it still says 4.1.83 for Systerm Version, but my build number correctly reflects that it's 2.3.4. Please help.
flashing the 1.97 radio and using the supplied apn's worked for me. After a reboot.

maybe trying doing a fresh install of 2.3.4, start by flashing back to 4.1.83. it doesnt sound right that it still says 4.1.83 after you install 2.3.4, might be a bad flash. my system version is 45.3.0.mb860.retail.en.05 after flashing 2.3.4.
I am also still having trouble with my mms...I did a clean flash to 2.3.4 and updated the radio, but I am still not able to view picture messages. My apn's appear to be set correctly...any ideas?
The instructions in the OP worked for me. I had a clean install of 2.3.4 HKTW, new radio, with the v1.8 update rollup fix, and mms would not work.
1. Download APN Manager
2. Copy the folder in the OPs zip file to your Internal SD
3. Open APN Manager and do a Restore
4. Reboot phone
My APN settings were the same before I did this, but it would not work until I followed these instructions.
Serendipity 6.4
Kernel: 2.6.32.9 - [email protected] #32
Baseband Version: I9000UGJK4
Firmware: 2.2.1
And I've also tried
Serendipity VII Build 3
Firmware: 2.3.3
Baseband: I9000TUBJV6
This phone was unlocked and it worked just fine in Taiwan.
I'm now in Baha Mexico, I have a Telcel SIM card, but it just does not work. And I absolutely must get this to work because checking email is critical for me. I don't know what to do. Do I need to update my modem? Which one do I need to update to?
1. My APN settings are all correct for Telcel:
Name: Internet
APN: internet.itelcel.com
Username: webgprs
Password: webgprs2002
MCC: 334
MNC: 020
Authentication Type: PAP
APN Type: Internet
2. I show signal on the signal bar, but no 3G or 1X. It says "Emergency Calls Only."
3. When I go dial the number to activate (*333) I get "Data Network Not Available"
4. When I search for the available Network Operators, Telcel pops up, but if I click on it I get "Unable to connect. Try again later." and "unable to select network. Select automatically." This happens over and over.
5. I called Telcel and it is confirmed that they are still waiting on me to dial in and activate my SIM card, using *333. The problem is, I can't dial in.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Hope I helped
Is your IMEI correct, ive seen that cause problems so make sure you dont have the generic one as that will allow you to connect to some networks but not all, also if you keep having problems i'd suggest odin back to stock (that for sure Works on Telcel's network and if your IMEI is missing it might even give it back)and then update back up SlimBean seams to work quite well for me. Hope i helped, would have answered earlier but just bearly stumbbled on to this thread

Sorry to say that this thread is nearly a year old, this guy probably doesn't need this info anymore
I was flashing [ROM][ICS][4.0.4][AOKP] Nostalgia 6.1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527861) from [ROM][ICS 4.0.4 with ROM control] FIX-NEW-EXTRAordinary_4.0.4_9.1_IMM76K(captivate)(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1657039) then I got a bootloop.
Then I went back to WEUI (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1411763) but then there's no signal on my phone. Tried to flash some other rom but the problem persists. ( I always did a full wipe before flashing those ICS rom, and everything worked fine when my phone was running Extraordinary and WEUI before that rom)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thankf for your reply.
I've already tried to change that APN setting based on some other post about APN in the forum but it did not work, I think. The default APN setting in my phone right now is
Name: ATT
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
Port: not set
Username:[email protected]
Password:not set
Server: not set
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
mms port - 80
mcc 310
mnc 410
authentication type : not set
apn type- default,supl,mms
APN protocol: IPv4
Bear: unspecified.
Are these settings correct?
They appear to be, at a quick glance. Have you tried flashing a new modem? Maybe that will help you out

Thanks a lot, I tried to flash a new one and it worked.
Hi I have the ATT Galaxy Tab Model SGH-i987 That I just flashed with Overcome 4.0.0 exactly per the instructions provided by Alterbridge86 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1881981 I checked and double checked each step before proceeding and even installing the "AT&T JK3 Modem.bin file in Odin as instructed.
Everything went smooth and everything seems to work including WiFi except, I have no AT&T data service at all. No Edge, no 3G, no H, nothing... :crying:
Thanks,
Tom
I also noticed that all my AT&T apps and widgets are gone even though I did a backup with Titaniun Backup as instructed.
well, if you backup, you need to restore.
But be aware that Overcome is GB based, your AT&T stuff is Froyo based.
You may not get it restored and working properly.
Now, do you have WiFi? As in not AT&T cellular. the 802.11g thing.
Can you make call and send sms?
what does it say under baseband in the phone info?

Thanks for the reply... I restored what the overcome instructions told me to back up however, none of the AT&T apps or widgets where among them. My impression based on the instructions for the Overcome Flash was that my AT&T AT&T data plan would work. Out of the instructions I quote " The Overcome ROM/Kernel is intended for GSM-based Samsung GAlaxy Tabs Only! (GT-P1000/T-Mobile*/AT&T*/Telstra* Tabs Only) * Please use the appropriate modems when flashing!
Later it says to flash with the JK3 Modem.bin file which I did. Like I said, I followed the instructions exactly checking each step before proceeding. I had NO errors or hang ups in the installation and everything PASSED and is working fine except that I have no AT&T data service.
WiFi works on my home network. Here is the info requested:
Model Number now says: GT-P1000 before upgrade it was SGH-i987
Baseband Version is now: I9000UGK3 before upgrade it was I987UCK1
Kernel version is now: 2.6.357 Overcome-v4.0.0 #40 before upgrade it was 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1
Build Number is now: Overcome 7 Series v4.1.0 before upgrade it was FROYO.UCJK1
This is the other info I have now:
Phone number: Same as before upgrade
Network: AT&T
Signal Strength: -92 dBm 9asu
Mobile Network Type: HSDPA
Service State: In Service
Roaming: Not Roaming
Mobile Network State: Disconnected
IMEI: Same as before Upgrade
IMEI SV: 05 this was 02 before upgrade
Network Mode is GSM/WCDMA
I also tried manually setting network operators. When searching two AT&T come up. When I select one of the two AT&T manually it says "your SIM does not allow a connection on this network." It registers to the other just fine however. When I "Select Automatically" It also seems to work.
I tried removing the SIM but all that does is want the Tab to go into initial reboot. when I reinserted the SIM and rebooted nothing had changed.
I can not make calls. An AT&T voice prompt comes up and says "The call you are trying to place is not allowed from this line."
I can also not send or receive SMS messages although I receive no errors. This however may be due to the fact that I previously called AT&T months ago and told them I did not want to receive SMS messages because I was getting all kinds of Spam messages every day and getting charged for them.
I am hoping that maybe phdeez can also chime in here since he says he has the Tab with AT&T. Here is my initial post to XDA that convinced me to update. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982476
Thanks,
Tom
you can try these:
1) go to the modem thread in dev section
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1069727
first post has something called AT&T stock modem.
I am not sure if it is the same as Overcome JK3
Actually I would expect JK3 modem to have a "JK3" in the baseband, doesn't it?
Use CWM to flash that one from modem thread and see what the baseband said
(it better say I987UCK1 because it is stock...)
2. make sure you have AT&T APN correctly set.
about not able to make phone call, I think AT&T maintain a list of IMEI and know that you have a tablet. It is too bad that you can't make call, but the modem thing hopefully solve the 3G.
One note to you just as extra knowledge (not needed now), the CWM flashable modem only works for stock (so called BML partition) ROM, like Overcome.
When you move on to CM9 or CM10 (MTD partition rom), you only need to use root explorer to copy the modem.bin to /radio/modem.bin

I agree with what priyana has stated above.
I believe ATT maintains a list of IMEIs to block calling, however there might be a workaround with a different SIM - calling did NOT work before the upgrade, right?
Possible Modem issue, however since you see networks, you're probably good
APN Settings are likely blocking internet
See here for APN settings for ATT link, however I would combine the settings into one APN since you're not using the phone function. So, the APN should look like:
Code:
Name: ATT
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
Port: 80
Username: -
Password: -
Server: -
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com/
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication Type: -
APN Type: mms,supl,default,internet
APN Protocol: ipv4
I wish I could speak from experience on using my Tab with ATT Data (or with Overcome ROM), however as soon as I received it I disabled my plan and took the SIM out. I never actually ran data with ATT's network, and just recently attempted to use my ATT Tab on Tmo. For the longest time my Tab was a wifi-only Tab...
I am sooooo frustrated right now. I've tried several modems and checked and double checked the APN settings. I am beginning to wonder if maybe its not working because I no longer have the AT&T apps or widget? I don't know why they didn't get backup-ed and restored by Titanium Backup. I guess I just didn't have that option checked.
Where can I get the AT&T stock apps and widget?
Any additional help is appreciated...
Oh... Should I maybe try starting all over with the Overcome Flash from the beginning? I am so afraid of bricking my Tab.
Thanks,
Tom
is there at any stage you have baseband I987UCK1 in Overcome ?
keep that modem, and fix other things.

Ok... THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! :highfive: The above finally worked. I am using the stock AT&T Modem and on baseband ( i987UCJK1 ). Most importantly!!! Create a New APN... And fill out the APN just like it says in the quote by Priyana above and in the article. LEAVE EVERYTHING ELSE BLANK!!! No Proxy, no Port, No MMSC, No MMS info nothing. Working like a charm now.
Now if I could only get the phone to work as a side benefit then that would be sweet... I didn't have it before in froyo so that would be new.
Thanks again guys and especially Priyana.
