Do you know what "off topic" mean?
Sent from my GT540 using XDA App

I'm not a dev, but I can post here. It isn't and shouldn't be as exclusive a forum as karthiknayak94 makes it out to be - the place would be rather deserted, if only devs posted here, and there wouldn't be much sense for them as well. Though I agree that this topic should've been in the General section. To answer the question: there's no way to boost the microphone, not that I know of anyway. If you have trouble, try using Speaker, I suppose that should give a bit of a boost, though your conversations will become rather public. Also, consider disassembling and cleaning your phone, as there might be a buildup of dust, hairs, etc. inside the microphone hole. That seems rather unlikely, but if you work in an environment, where fine dust is common(e.g. from cutting metal), that might be your problem. Buona fortuna.

Boosting Handset Volume.

Hello everyone...
Was just curious if anyone knew of a way to boost the volume coming from the ear piece on this phone? I have the I9000M.....
I have some hearing loss and find that the volume is a tad too low and I am constantly having to ask people to repeat themselves.... before you say it... yesssss, I have used the volume button...
I was reading the thread on the using the service mode app to change the ear phone audio... thought there might be something in there...
Thanks for your help in advance.
Maybe try posting this in the general questions forum instead of the developers forum?

jaybob or kush deck aosp

Which of these roms will make my old heroc that my gf is currently using quicker to the touch with more battery life. she is currently running aospcm 234.
Seriously how much more aosp can you get.... I used my heroc for a whole year either running cm or something by the dev aosp. now I have jaybob, evervolv, kush deck, etc.... Can someone who has used these roms individually from a non biased standpoint tell me which to use and why? (refrain from fanboy banter)
In the meantime I'm going to put kush deck with jaybobs kernel on there.

Depending on the patience level of your girlfriend, you might want to refrain from Jaybob's kernal. The camera is sometimes intermittent.
If she just wants everything to work, you should consider AOSPs froyo, everything is rock solid stable.
I'm currently trying out Deck, I've used all of them and the only quirk that bothers me is sometimes the GPS signal gets lost. I've actually lowered the max cpu settings and it hasn't happened since...but I'm sure it will.

Although I have not yet tried deck, I have tried aosp's , cm7 (not the latest rc, tho), evervolv, and jaybob's. I would say that out out those, jaybob's was the most hassle-free. Just make sure to flash the .29 kernel so to avoid camera issues (which the .35 tends to have ).
Gin & Salsa
Btw, this should be posted in the q&a section.....
Gin & Salsa
I have been on both. Although I used deck longer both Jaybob's and deck were both equally smooth and hassle free. I recently moved to the most recent CM7 release (not nightly) and love it. It's my new daily driver.
Good luck!

How, would anyone in general or q&a section be able to properly answer that question? And not to mention as promptly as you all just did.
at this point my question has been
answered already thanks a lot guys the heroc community is my favorite.
Just a side note. How do I get rid of the post since its bothering a few people. I think op should be able to delete all somehow right?

Your post in the dev section didn't bother me at all, I just told you it was in the wrong section (as an afterthought...) because there had been quite a bit of hoopla going on lately over that subject (non-dev related posts in the dev section) ... Not so much in the hero c threads, but still. as for getting answered, a lot of knowledgeable people read the q&a section simply because they like helping. You would definitely get answered, maybe not quite as promptly, but definitely.
You can ask a mod to delete the post if you like.
Gin & Salsa
we are here to help thats what xda is for as long as u dont post questions in development your fine if u have a specific question about a rom post it in that roms thread and youll get help alot faster and if it has to do with a bug it helps developers fix the rom to make it better. so please just dont start new threads in development asking questions.

99% of the people in here have tried most ROMs. And on top of all those still here, many of us still check these threads that finally moved on to bigger, better phones.

Cool..cool.. anywho I hear ya on the bigger and badder phones. I'm on evo shift now and love it. When I was on heroc still the best rom imo was aosps froyo. Might very well be still. But gf has heroc now and I want to make sure her phone can keep up with mine. honestly the hero gets better cell service then my shift does. anyways back to the point at hand.. The heroc scene blew back up and I'm excited about it. these deck roms have one hell of a reputation from what I'm gathering. But jaybobs sort of specializing in this phone vs the mass produced roms of kush. I wish I could grab some more opinions from you guys if you have the time.

For your GF, I'd ruu her back to stock unless she's a techie , then let her decide.. I spend my time trying all these roms for the heroc and I've yet to find one that doesn't have one problem or the other on my particular phone.. Right now I'm on omfgb and its pretty cool, but it has its own set of problems..
did we seriously just do a full 360 on this dude just an fyi the same people that post in development look around in q/a to help out and same goes for general its the exact same comunity. and not as maney people posted afterwords because you already had answers so why would someone reapeat what someone else has already said bottom line is read the forum rules and post in the correct section!

if we make a thread inside the dev section for answering questions it would defeat the purpose of THIS q&a section, wouldn't it.......one way to find out which rom is the most popular would be to scan the number of posts in each rom's thread. For instance, look at the amount of activity in the aospcmod gb thread. Easily the most popular rom.

[Q] Walkman widget. But with different background.

With all the tech genius on the forum I was wondering if anyone could change the stock Walkman widget a little. Basically it's a bit out of place on my home screen with its dark background as all my widgets have no background.
Could it be changed to clear? Before its mentioned, no I don't want to use a different widget for it. I like the Walkman one.
I'm running Xperia Launcher 2.0.5b found on the forum. I can't find the link to the thread again though. I'm on a C6603, 4.1.2, locked bootloader.
I'm using the launcher as I like the extra little bit of customisation over the stock home. But would go back if needed
I hope someone can help.
Thanks

OP, this is not what XDA is about, please read this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16682226&postcount=2441
Let me quote certain points about what you are minsunderstanding about XDA developers:
XDA is and always will be about the developers.
XDA is not a place to come and make your phone cool.
XDA IS a place to come to learn and share your knowledge. If you are not here for those reasons then you are here for the wrong ones.
I have watched XDA become a place where every dumbass in the world has a smartphone and comes here thinking they have the right to anything. Well guess what? You dont have the right to ****. We share it because we want to and we dont if we dont feel like it. Are the Developers or the Mods required to make you happy? Nope not in the least. Wanna leave. Go ahead. I beg you, please do. The less people that are asking dumb question cause they dont know what they are doing (this is understood when your new, but at least look) or are too lazy to look for it the better.

If no one responds your request, that does not mean they lack the knowledge in doing it. Demanding things will get you nowhere. If no developer wants to do what you request, then move on. Xda is not about doing what people want developers to do.

Even though I was talking in general about your suggestion that everyone should need to be told how to behave properly (they already are, by the way, in the forum rules, read them), is that a proper way to behave when you're asking for help from people that work for free? Or even the proper way to behave in public? I think not.
As for everyone being a noob to begin with; that does not entitle anyone to behave inappropriately and ***** and moan if they don't get what they demand.

In my opinion first a proper bug-free rom would be reasonable instead of countless buggy ports we currently have. No offence to anyone and I hope no one will take it so, but the truth is, since cute_prince' hard work, no proper and genuine development has been done on this forum. Think about that.

I thought about that. And to be honest I don't think you have the right to say that to anyone. Since this is a free community, everyone does what they like, when they desire. No offense to you but no one is your personal slave, neither do you supervise the work done here, therefore if you want to do something you should consult more experienced developers and get stuff fixed yourself.

I have made like 19 source builds including updates since cute's work, as well optimizing ports and adding mods, if you don't like it, you can either use stock CM10 or go back to stock/revo because they were the only Roms available. Besides, i was going to portthis till i discovered the Rom was 1gb in size, then you'd have to resize everything because it's xhdpi i think.. But, skype me later and we can work collaborately on the port Markey boiii

In general, it would be nice to see quality instead of quantity. Just 1 bug-free CM or AOSP based ROM.

People here should be able to do its own searches by themselves. In fact everybody is encouraged to do that before posting, therefore, no much help in that.
Attaching to a post an app that should be bought is distributing something that you do not own.
No matter what you call it. It is against the rules, and that must suffice.

if you've really read my first post, you would've gotten the help i intended to give, as i previously said, early versions of this app do not work with
CM 10.2, and as a conclusion, whoever wants to get FM radio on their CM 10.2 should get the new version CAUSE IT WORKS !
as for the attache app, its name contained the first working version of the app..
I understood that its against the rules,
hence am not providing any excuses for my action, thank you for your note, its most appreciated.
