[Q] ES File explorer root acess Failed - HTC Sensation XL

SXL boot Unlocked
Clockwork mod by Paul O'Brien
Rooted
Stock rom was permanently rooted and has no problems acessing ROOT
Flashed with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1430794
BinDroid_Stock_EU_1.05.401.4_R2_2.3.5_SXL
Superuser says "ES File Explorer has been granted Superuser permissions" and after 1 seccond : " Sorry test filed. This feature cannot run on your phone''
Flashed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420841&page=13
and it says the same. When i reinstall ES File explorer i can access ROOT but when i reboot phone and enter again ES File Explorer and try access ROOT it says the same "ES File Explorer has been granted Superuser permissions" and after 1 seccond : " Sorry test filed. This feature cannot run on your phone''
So every time when i want access ROOT after phone reboot i have to reinstall EX file Explorer
Funny thing is that on My Incredible S with Bindroid ROM is exactly the same. I am confused what is wrong in Bindroid releases or whats wrong with latest ES File Explorer included in Bindroid releases... because this problem don't persist with another builds..

I had this problem too but using RCMix3D ROM, oddly enough it sorted once I installed root explorer and used that. Then I just tried using ES file explorer out of curiosity and now it works.

I figured it out now some way.
In bindroid ROMs the ES File Explorer is included in Flash, it is system app. When u install ES File Explorer from market or from backup (like me) everything works fine till u restart your phone. The ES File Explorer included in system app is back, and ROOT does not work anymore. So i installed older ES File Manager version. get root acess and locate /system/app/ folder and delete "com.estrongs.android.pop.apk" from there. So now i got only mine user installed app not system.
Works fine now.

Glad to hear, although it seems like a pain. I guess you will need to remove it every time you flash!

It should not be like that, but at least it works. Intresting, problem is in latest ES File Explorer or in Bindroid ROMs.
p.s. I'm not flashing my phone every day And installing ES File Explorer from market or backup and remove system flashed takes max 1 minute. Yea but pain anyway

Report in the corresponding thread might get a bugfix on this, instead of creating a new thread for it.

Thank You for reply! Thank You for your ROMs. I'm trying to search corresponding threads. In DEV section i can not post because i'm new in this forum, and yes DEV section is more for developing not for people like me. Only if in BinDroid site.

If you did read my thread, you could have found my forum on xda.bindroid.com
That is for al general questions about my Rom.
So no need for the dev forums

[Q] howto change boot screen with ES explorer...

can some on tell me, if i use es file explorer that i got from revolution android rom app and installed it on my normal DHD, i go tosystem and i see bootanimation and sound. if i replace them with another file with custom bootscreen will it work or simply crash! what will happen,
or if i change boot sound replace and rename it to same format and name, will it work! can some one try and tell,if it will, thiss will be the easiest and the best way ever to customize boot sound and bootscreen!!
i use ESFileExplorer1.4.8.7 i got it from
Android Revolution HD 2.0.5 there
Android Revolution HD 2.0.5\data\app and find ESFileExplorer1.4.8.7.
can i use this app to customize bootscreen safely! View attachment 492067
Install RootExplorer and simple replace the bootanimation.zip, located in /Data/Local/
Make sure you allows superuser access and mount r/w.

(Install RootExplorer and simple replace the bootanimation.zip, located in /Data/Local/

what means R/W. i dont understand. and if it allows me to replace it to another bootscreen zip if it will does that mean that i have success! does it_
i dont have rooted phone or anything, i just bought it from store my DHD. and its 1.32 version something with froyo.
R/W means Read / Write Access - Which is basically the ability to make changes.
You will need to root your phone to change the boot animation though.
Check the Desire HD Development section for some great guides on how it's done. Luckily you have 1.32 so you won't need to downgrade 1st. Just be sure to read everything 2 or 3 times so it's clear in your mind
I used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841076
Ask any questions about it in that thread to keep everything together.
if i use root explorer, do i have to root my phone? to change bootscreen?
heres the program to try it with! rootexplorer 2.10.apk
i do not have rooted phone, but is it possible via this program to change da bootscreen by simply replacing da file
Warez ? RootExplorer is a paid app, and u are sharing it!
You can install pretty much any app on your phone, but if it requires root access then the task you want it to perform will fail when the app requests root permissions. So Root Explorer might install and open ok, but you wont be able to do anything with.
Just go ahead root it, then you're free to do whatever you want. I just rooted a friends DHD today and it only took around 15-20 minutes, and most of that was waiting for it to back-up or reboot.
Also, you might want to remove the RootExplorer attachment, might get you into trouble from the mods

[Q] Change HOSTS file possible?

Just got my phone today and have the bootloader unlocked and CWM & Superuser installed. With ES file explorer I'm unable to change the current HOSTS file. (ES has been granted root)
I'm assuming this is because of the /system write protection mentioned in this development thread but I just want to make sure I'm not missing something since this mod has been found not to work. (Note: I would have posted in the original thread but I don' t have enough previous posts :crying: )
Just looking for a way to have a custom HOSTS file that I've used on my last couple of phones that I'd like to keep using.

Can't Change File Permissions...

I've tried ES File Explorer, File Explorer (with Root Add-on), and Root Browser and none of them allow me to change permissions. Root Browser brings up the permissions menu, but no matter where the file is located, whether it's System/App or the Internal SD Card or Download or wherever, it continually tells me Operation Failed. I'm simply trying to set 644 permissions for a custom Boot Animation so I can place it in system/media, but I can't even copy it there. Before you ask, I am rooted, with the bootloader unlocked, and running Chroma with the Franco Kernel, and I have run Root Checker to verify I am fully rooted. I have even gone into SuperSU to verify those applications have Super User access, and I have even gone as far as to force user "Root" and "System" for them to see if that would allow it. No joy. What can I do to fix this?
i bet you havent tried root explorer. and when dropping a bootanimation.zip into /system/media/ using root explorer, you dont even have to change permissions.

I just bought it and gave it a try and I think I may have answered my question through your recommendation. None of the other explorers were mounted as R/W. I don't know how to mount them that way either. Just the Root Explorer you said to try, because it made an easy access button for me to press ... Regardless, thank you very much!

Yes why I stick with Root Explorer. It doesn't have every single bell and whistle but it does what needs to get done.
