Hey everyone,
well since you all heard about the new devices of MWC '12,
would you buy one of these? (android phones.. not wp lol)
Many of them were Tegra 3 based and we all know that tegra 2 had a really bad support..
Would you maybe even buy another LG phone?
well nvidia+LG sucked really bad thats true..
but the hardware for the low price was a great point on the o2x..
maybe if nvidia is going to release their drivers (blahblahblah dreaming), LG wouldnt be a bad choice.
So.. again im asking, would you guys buy one of the new Tegra 3 devices?
Thanks in advance
Definitely no. Never Nvidia again.
Inviato dal mio LG-P990 usando Tapatalk
You know what... I said that I wouldn't a few days ago, and my next phone would be an OMAP based device, but I reckon I would get a Tegra 3. They are a pain in the arse for not helping developers, but to be honest, I have found the stock based ROM's just fine for my usage in general.
My decision will likely be based on price/performance though, and if I can even afford a £400-600+ phone at the time (it's a bloody lot for a phone in my view).
Enough with LG.. the worst ever in smartphone.. we should have a 2.3.7 GB, instead V20q 2.3.4.. will buy Samsung Smartphone after this.. "the 1st worse dual core smartphone"
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
With respect, just because it's not the very latest release doesn't make it a bad phone. It's a very capable phone at present.
On the plus side, at least it got more support than the Optimus 3D *crazy*
But anyway.. it's off-topic, the question was about Tegra 3.
Mmhmhmm......NO!
i had too problem by july until a month ago with this stupid phone...
next phone will be an HTC,like my previus nexus one and htc magic(no problem and very good support for community),samsung use cheap and poor materials for their phones
After weeks of trying different ROMs just to get at least a good balance on battery duration, definately not. My new gadget now is the Galaxy Note
Sent from my Optimus 2X using XDA App
definitely no, i will stick with o2x for a while and buy ps vita for games. honestly wtf we need quad core and uber gpu in a phone beside few boring but graphic wise good games? it reminds me mpx hunt in the compact cameras market.
I don't think so. Tegra 2 is fast enough for me right now and probably years to come O2X is just awesome. Lots of ROMs to choose, that's super fine for me.
Tegra 3 is cool for games! Well, I'm not a mobile-phone-based gamer though
I dont think so. I will try to avoid LG and Nvidia, especially combined.
Nvidia again? No way! They don't help the community very well, and so i wont help them getting my money.
I'm not jumping on the hate bandwagon like everyone else, so yes I would buy one. ICS isn't out yet? Boohoo..
big O...
nOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I won't mind getting a tegra 3 device as long as this time it will be usable without rooting and flashing. The p990 has great hardware and subpar software, without CM7 I'd have tossed that thing out of a window already.
That being said I really hope nvidia comes to senses with their open-ness
OP, Y U NO put a poll?

And I mean, no nVidia *period*. I already got disappointed with computer hardware made by them, now it's AMD/ATi all the way
Never again if they are still so closed
For me there is no speaking of 'buying another LG' because I got this O2X as a gift.
I will buy the best smartphone that is out by september 2012 ('cause that is when my carrier subscription will end)

Hi Mungulz, what you call a hate bandwagon, others would call a consensus of opinion. XDA is primarily a site for devs, and users who like to go beyond stock, and make technology fit their needs, and not the other way round. So its not surprising that that bandwagon would like access to the hardware. In future I will avoid NVIDIA. Simply a matter of needs, not hate.
Have fun. Anil.
PS. There is no need to cry, the ICS bandwagon is out and already too far in the distance for you to see. Stay where you are, and in a few months the LG ICS bandwagon will arrive.
Definitely not. Who'd need a high-end phone anyway, unless you'll run office apps and compile a program on your phone, O2X is enough.
Not a chance, i wouldnt even keep it if given one id sell it and buy that new galaxy s3 i think its being called also quad core.
Someone could create support for these two options in the Galaxy Tab P5110
Enviado desde mi GT-I9100 usando Tapatalk 2
It will be great to see Multi-windows option on our Galaxy Tab 2.
Maybe Samsung will make it for us. Unfortunately, I think, Samsung can't do this, because Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 is no longer top model of Galaxy Tabs. Now Samsung Galaxy Note II is newsest, and it is Samsung's eye in head
Waiting for modders, who's can make it for us ...
Samsung is a shame that as soon leave this tab, but I guess if you can create multi-window support. In the S2 have introduced multi-window support, ripple effect and ink. What is required is that some developer support us will try to get help to bring these improvements to our tablet
Enviado desde mi GT-I9100 usando Tapatalk 2
It will not to be easy.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 is commercial tablet. There's no much difference between Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 ...
One thing making Samsung politics is buissnes. That's all. Samsung want a lot of money and they are not interesting in older devices which makes less of money now. Sad but true.
I thinks it is possible because note 1 n7000 don't have multi windows et ripple effect et alliance team make this
I am small dev I make rom for note 1 and note 2 but not release in xda for my reason...
If you want we work in integrated this goodies?
Because section tab 2 is dead pffff
Pm me if you want and sorry for my English very bad looool
Yes it could be done, if someone will port the mods from the threads below to work with some of our ROMs once we get JB 4.1.2 from Samsung.

What a ridiculous comment. Samsung does a good job of software updates for older devices. Better than most. Remember they make no money from updating your old device and the reason to be in business is to make a profit, not to cater to every whim of power users. Most people that own these tablets wouldn't even know what a software update is and could care less. They just want it to work and be reliable. So think the fact that Samsung churns out dozens of updated for a multitude of devices in variety of languages is pretty cool.
I once purchased a HTC Flyer, cool device , great hardware, pretty damn expensive. It never received one single software update and HTC dropped support for it after 4 months.
Samsung just put out a JB 4.1.1 update for your tablet this month. You expectations are unrealistic. Do you expect Samsung to assign a personal developer to you to support your every whine on a daily basis?
Want This sooo bad

It would be great to have it, but as I can see there is not one single custom ROM based on stock JB for the P5110
I wanted to try doing it myself, but I wasn't even able to make cygwin work on my PC...

is it possible to hv multiscreen?
just want it so badly....
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
of course it is possible on the part of devs, to a certain extent.
you need special kernels besides hardware support. Note 1 got a few leaks from samsung and got many other features of Note 2 going like airview, multi-windows, ink effect
xperiacle and nanomet have ported features from the tab to make certain features to work on Note 1 like floating multiwindows that can be minimised, multitasking
my knowledge is surface knowledge. without sammy support in the form of leaks it wouldnt have been possible for Note. otherwise Cyanogen would also give these features even though they are releasing 421 now.

But anyway, yes its possible using the same methods the SII uses.
yes, but there are a lot of developers in the S2 threads, I just hope there is at least a developer having the samsung galaxy tab 2 that will know how to do it and then share it with the rest of us

I'm debating between the 128 GB versions of both phones (comparison table) and don't see why the OnePlus 3T should cost that much more. The only disadvantages I see in the Zuk are the lack of NFC (don't need) and having only one (multi-purpose) button instead of three. Anything else I'm missing?
OnePlus is officially updated by several custom rom developers while Zuk Z2 Pro is mostly dependent on few voluntary developers. Oxygen OS is more customisable than ZUI OS.
Thanks, but is there any reason to go for the OnePlus if I intend to stay with the stock ROM?
Do you want custom roms? Do you want a phone from dead company?
Enviado desde mi ZUK Z2121 mediante Tapatalk
Not interested in custom roms.
As for dead company, I'm currently in China for a few days and want to buy a phone. In any case I won't be able to use the warranty if something goes wrong - be it Zuk or OnePlus. Also , it seems there's a shortage of OnePlus 3T 128 GB, so that pretty much makes the decision for me. Zuk it is (unless there's something really bad about this phone that I need to be aware of).
Coming from Oneplus 3 & 3T I can't see the justification of paying the extra £200 more for them.
With Lineage CM13 using the same apps on the Z2 pro I don't notice any difference in performance. The lack of development could be an issue but in my case if a ROM works why change it?
If the next Oneplus uses a better display & Xposed for Nought comes out I might consider another Oneplus.
Is there any disadvantage to installing CM13? Coming from a Note Edge, I'm not impressed with ZUI, at least not after having the phone for a few hours.

The problem with most roms is the lack of source code available. Maybe that rom is good or maybe is plenty of malware... Who knows. Furthermore, no publishing the source code violates the GPL, but who cares, right? ?

I didn't know manufacturers were obliged to release source codes.
As regards malware I use Xprivacy and apart from contacts I do not have any other personal information on the device. Also I was under the impression CM based ROMs with the latest security patch which is currently 1 April 2017 was safer then stock.
Its up to you what to do or don't with your phone, but check rom threads from 3t or zuk z1 for example. What is the point of hidding the source?
If you check GPL rules you will know what code must be publish by manufacturers or anyone and which parts don't.

I don't know what the decision of this friend will be but as a ZUK Z2 Pro user, my next phone will be Xiaomi Mi6. That is pretty sure, consider it.
Hello All!
Well like everyone, I want a nice phone, but of course being the Geek that I am, I love to hack and tinker on phones.
I've been really researching and reading around online, still in search of that Modders Dream phone, and will all the choices out there, it's just not easy figuring out, at least I'm still looking. Problem is, all the latest cool phones that have recently come out in 2018, like anything, development will take time.
So I'm trying to figure out which phone(s) might be a good choice to go with. As some may of read, OnePlus donated some 6 phones for free to XDA developers, that certainly made that phone look promising for the future, but the cost of the 6 is a little over my budget.
So, with all this said, I currently have a Mi A1, and the development seems like it's been really good on that phone, which makes me think that Xiaomi phones seem to be popular with development, at least I hope the Mi 8 will have just as much development going on as the Mi A1, or better.
What does the future hold for this phone, any thoughts on this?
Hmm
Thanks

I'm patient, that's not the problem, I guess it's to early to tell how the development will be. I assumed if the Mi A1 was as good as it is, then this should be better, but that's a cheaper phone, easier for people to get, therefore more development, more expensive phone, less people can afford, less development...
hmm

Honestly, I think the best "tinker" phone right now is the Oneplus 5t. Solid hardware and a very big selection of roms and mods. Xiaomi phones tends to be good also, but you need to wait a year or two before it really picks up.
I have an Mi A1 and it's great, so it made me think to get another Xiaomi, but then I really had my eyes on the OnePlus....
To many bloody choices... LOL

there was an instant of Mi8SE kernel source was released for 2 months+, but there wasn't any development for custom ROM so far.
Of coz it might really means the establishment for this phone wasn't wide enough and the population wasn't there, due to the price. These contributed to late or lack of ROM development.
It also could due to there are many new development in the android world such as Android Treble and Android Pie which is more fun and trendy for the moment.
So, the wait will really had to be a bit longer then usual.
But what is the usual?
That will be the primary question now.

Yes. I'm aware we are talking about Mi 8 which running on SD 845.
What I referencing is Mi8SE had not had any development even they had the kernel source released 2 months before.
However, I wish I'm wrong on this and had custom ROM development as soon as the kernel source released.
Time will tell...

I wanted one essential phone for a long time, but I need dual sim and don't really want to bother with bluetooth adapters so skipped that one. Have a OP6 and MI8 now. Like the MI8 more but a bit bummed I can't get custom recovery to work flashed so have to fastboot the recovery each time there is an update.
We have to wait for the kernel source from the Mi8 to get the best experience out of custom roms.
We got treble, but not everything is working well with Treble roms.
Hope Xiaomi will release the source shortly
