[Q] FM Radio for Onecosmic's RC3 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi all..
the release notes mention using spirit FM from the market, but it doesnt seem to work for me.
the gingerbread stock FM radio app used to work fine..is thr a way to install that into this version of ICS..or any other suggestions for FM radio app..
FM is one of my quite frequently used apps as i travel a lot..if this works..RC3 would be the perfect rom for me!!
thanks.

quick update..I managed to find the FM radio apk from gingerbread, pushed it to system/app folder using root explorer..but it still doesn't show up in the installed apps list..
can someone guide me on the usage of system/apps folder..do i have to do nething more after copying the app apk to that folder?
appreciate someone's help on this.
Thanks.

no clue to anyone?? :-(

you have to change permission using root explorer to:
Owner : Read & write
Group : Read
Others: Read
And in the spirit FM you have to change this:
setings --> Audio ---> method -> GalaxyS ALSA

thx..i'll try changing permissions. Also, i read warnings about using spirit FM on galaxy S leading to permanent speaker damage? is tht true for onecosmic's RC3 too?
thx again.

I used it without problems, but to be on the safe side I prefer to use it bye headset.

Hi
Thanks for the update.. Have been using spirit FM "at my own risk" ;-) no issues so far.
Thanks for all the help.

Did it work?
App loads loads, tells you that you need headphones plugged in....plugged some in....and nothing.....I'll leave this one to the DEV's to figure out...someone mentioned that the radio's in the T-Mobile G2X and optimus 2X are slightly different, so it may either be that the G2X radio doesnt have the FM tuner, or we just dont have the right drivers / mapping in the framework (my guess)
I got force close on Atrix

I installed the apps, but I don't hear any radio on my G2x.
Installed all three APKs on my T-mobile G2X then ran DDMS to see what was happening in the background, here is the link to the pastebin:

Greetings,
Quick question for you guys...
I just installed Cyanogenmod Nightly for LG 2x and it does not come with the FM Radion app.
I have managed to install 2 of the 3 files
FMRadioWidget.apk refuses to install and gives the following error each time "Application not Installed"
Each time I try to launch the FM app it crashes.
I have the phone rooted and root explorer has root access.
Also tried to use Astro...
Anyone has any ideas?

I started a thread today about this at the g2x forum here. FYI, the app Anycut shows a hidden menu function that includes an FM test. It has two empty fields...one for frequency, one for volume.
Hope this helps.
better try this one
I believe that FM radio has to be enabled on the kernel level, not just by pushing an apk.
Anyone with an update on this? Will lg gingerbread update enable fm radio?

Questions about CyanogenMod 9 for Samsung Galaxy S

I'm new. I was looking about one thread to put questions about this Mod, and I don't find it. So I want to suggest to put all question about it here.
I have a few questions:
1. What can I do to connect my phone by USB to Samsung Kies app on my PC? In gingerbread was option in settings to chose between storage, player and Kies. No I can find it and I can connect to Kies app.
2. I don't have radio FM application on my phone. Can I install it in some way?
3. When I work on gingerbread (without flashing) I also have "Think office" app. Can I install it? (I now there are other apps in Play market, but I want this )
Model Number: GT-I9000
Android version: 4.0.4
Baseband version: I9000XXJVT
Kernel version: 3.0.8-23354-gff64146
CyanogenMod version: 9-20120415-NIGHTLY-galaxysmtd
P.S. Thanks a lot for this mod for people how was create it.
1.No,because it's not Samsung's firmware.
2.Spirit FM from market
3. Think office is only Samsung's bundle, I think
Hope I helped!=)

No, ThinkOffice is not Touchwizz (it's Polaris Office), and it works on CM9.

Actually i read there's a problem with spirit fm and it might damage your speaker so you should check it out before using
I have restored ThinkOffice from backup and it works. Probbaly from market will work too. It is available. Now for the radio i also wonder if it will work.

For GB based roms you need tools you can get from playmarket.
ICS/JB roms need special tools to do this afaik.
could you plz tell me ? which special tools ?
Thread moved to Q & A, post in the relevant section next time.

Help me - USB Tethering
Someone help me !!!
I am using Jusada Original ICS Final on Samsung Galaxy Ace. I need USB tethering.
Can someone suggest me a way to added the functionality in this rom ??
plz don't suggest me apps such as PDANET or Clockworkmod tether.
I have searched the entire forum bt couldn't find a permanent solution. Any help is highly appreciated.
simple solution is just move back to stock rom......there are no....other options available....i tried many roms...but none of them work...its better to have stock rom and update kernel for memory hack/battery extender...
Try the rom on the link on the previous page. USB tethering works. I'm sure it can make your breakfast too but I haven't found that option in the settings!

Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538245 its stock rom Modded original os + Adrenaline and may great features. Everything works fine wifi tethering + wifi hotspot tethering + usb tethering. And if on some computer usb tethering wont work...you can always try to create a Dial up internet connection using your phone modem.

And i will give a try to Adrenaline rom mentioned above.
I have few quick question, plz help me on these.
1) Is there a way to add USB Tethering as a update/patch which can be flashed using recovery ?
2) Hw to remove scripts added to the rom ?
3) Hw to move/remove system apps in Stocklite 7.1 ?
Plz help with answers or links. And do warn me if i am posting these ques in a wrong forum.

1) I don't think it's as simple as that. If it was easy all roms would have working usb tethering.
2) search for the script. They usually have their own threads. If you can find it and find a flashable zip file for the script then unzip it and see where the changes are, for example in init.d folder(/system/etc/init.d). Then you can delete those files from your phone and reboot. If you are unsure about this, tell me the script you mean and I will look it up for you. Make a backup first!
3. As the name suggests, stock lite is built to have as few system apps as possible. Make a backup first because some system apps you think are bloatware might actually be vital. If you mess up your phone by deleting important apps then just restore your last good backup in recovery.
So to remove system apps, use titanium backup or similar app manager to remove it, if you don't have titanium then delete them from /system/app folder on your phone. If you want to be safe then freeze the app first to see if it makes any difference to your phones operation. If the ROM is odexed you will need to delete it's corresponding odex file in the same folder.
If you want to add system apps then paste into this folder (deodex ROM only) and change permissions to (rw-r--r--).
To move system apps (I assume you mean to a user app?) depends on a few things. If you have a good app manager like titanium backup use that. If the app is on the play store then remove it from system and reinstall from the play store and it will be a user app. If not then move it from /system/app to /data/app (depending on your preferred method of getting around the limited internal space on the ace, like link2sd, cronmod, etc. your user apps could be somewhere else) and ensure the permissions stay the same. (rw-r--r--)
I hope this helps and I'm sure that if this answer to your questions can be improved or corrected, someone will do that!
Best of luck!

Please suggest an FM radio app

Hi,
I have recently rooted my HTC Incredible S and installed PACman-v19.3-VIVO-BLINDNDUMB. I have also installed the google apps required. But I do not have an FM Radio app (not an internet streaming app, need a good old FM Radio Tuner App). I have searched for apps and found out Spirit FM does it but it is not free. Can anyone please suggest a FM Radio Tuner App?

Hey,for those guys have installed custom ROM in your beloved Vivo and have problem to install Spirit FM...
I'm have a suggestion to solve this problem..
1)You have to install SU and update it(I'm using SuperSU 1.69 by Chainfire) by using APK file, not flashable the file
2)When it finish,it will ask you to update the binary and you have to update it
3)When the process finish, install the Spirit FM(need headset as antenna)
4)DONE,now you can test the radio,if it doesn't work turn on speaker mode and set up the setting to automatic
Spirit FM Setting:
Menu>Settings>
-Band(world 100KHz)
-Audio(method automatic,channels blend auto)
-IU(RDS on)
-AF(AF mode RDS+region, the rest leave it..)
-Digital(don't change it)
-Debug(don't change it)
It's work on my phone, hope you like it...

What could be the problem here ?

Hmm...Got root access on your phone??? Open your 'Terminal Emulator' and type "su"",then press enter...You should get "#" at the end of the prompt like the attachment picture...
If not,you should reinstall the superuser...
