What are the differences in rooting, roms, etc.? Can all directions be followed for the O2x to root the G2x and install custom ROMs?
The root should work fine, CWM needs to be updated, so don't use that

As said, rooting works as on the O2X. CWM Recovery shouldnt be flashed now, since the partition layout is different and Paul has to sort that out.
Installing O2X custom roms shouldnt work correctly since the G2X and O2X have different basebands. The custom rom has to support the used baseband by using the correct RIL. In time G2X custom roms will be released .

in a subforum i hope :S
Im sure ive read somewhere that they are going to make the partition layout the same or something, so there wont be any need for seperate roms

They probably do need a seperate rom, because of the different baseband and most likely ril.

Cheers for correcting me! good point read that the roms need to support the baseband also! perhaps a rom could support multiple basebands?
I think O2x and g2x can share roms. The devs will just have to tweak a little to make it work on the other. Am i right or wrong?
Do you guys expect the vanilla Android rom from G2x to be released for the O2x as well?
Between G2X and O2X, which one have higher benchmark on stock rom??

If you would post benchmark results of O2X, I will post G2X results after I get it today or tomorrow (quadrant and linpack).
I get 2614 Quadrant score on completely stock rom
Please at the stock ROM, try to run second test immediately after first. I think you should take better results.

I got best at 2650 (some were slightly lower) with G2X.
Linpack really sucked - could not break 40 (had done better then that - into the upper 50's with MT4G - overclocked of course).
I got 2680 for my O2X on stock rom. Best record.

The G2X seems much faster than the O2X.
Hi to all, well a friend of mine gave me a LG Optimus 2X with the Stock rom on it (10d). The phone is very slow at everything. While listening mp3 for example and try to read at the same time my tweets or my mails or trying to open the browser the phone becomes unresponsive for a while. The same goes while on browsing the market! The phone performs worst than any android phone i have ever had!
Any workround? Please help.
Thanks in advance

So there is nothing wrong with the Phone (with the hardware)? It is Just the stock ROM in it?
Yeah, stock ROM is pretty bad really. You should notice a marked improvement by leaving it.

Agreed. The stock roms for the optimus 2x aren't that great. Try experimenting with rooting and different roms (I recommend topogogi's rom and kernel since those are the most stable at the moment). If you don't know how to do it then ask, there are a lot of people in this forum willing to help the people who are new to this kind of stuff

Yes that's exactly what i did! But for starters i installed modaco's FR19. It seems pretty good and stable so far. Now the phone is really fast! Are Topogigi or CM better than the one i installed?
Use a custom rom now!!

Hi everyone!
Just got the optimus 2x from my brother. Its still in stock rom. May i know from you what's the fastest and most stable custom rom for the phone so that i could give it a try?
Im using miui 2.3.16 + etana kernel with lite battery mod. No issues found.

I vote for this.
but if you don't use any video recording, CM9-Kang by owain already can be used for daily.
it's fast & stable enough if using default config.
I'm pretty happy with what I have in my sig.
However, I would test drive the phone for a couple of weeks if I were you. There have been users reporting very bad battery life that returned the phone and got a much better one.
So personally I would test-drive every functionality of the phone: 3G, wi-fi, bluetooth, GPS, etc and make sure everything is working fine before going for "warranty voiding activities"

Thats also what i'm using right now, also with ironkrnL (80 uv-log-su-rld), Chainfire3D and my own sd-fix. But in cause of the missing hw acc, i posted the cm7 variant
+1 for cm7 kang by temasek (with stock kernel).
I dont see anyone talking about one of the best ROMs with all custom like features with excellent smoothness and best performance....Django ROM with Stefan's or Spica's Kernel....it virtually flies...
try it man....you will know

watch the flag system!
You have to change the filename before flashing, i recommend to NOT use "jrnl"!
And never flash it with touch-cwm, it would kill your system/data partitions.

To me hei1125 does an awesome work with ICS (CM9). His rom is called Nova HD Plus.

i never used etana kernel yet, so i can't tell.
i just know that "setiron" (the dev of ironkrnL) defo knows what he does.
I use MIUI, perfect look and very fast ROM, but you loose your FM-radio.
Good support- every Weekend a new update.
1st choice!

I guess question was about fastest and most stable ROM, not about "stable and fast enough". ICS on P990 is highly unstable for now. I'm using ICS for daily use and i don't complain, but there's always something that isn't working as it suppouse to. So at this moment CM7 isn't only more stable then ICS, it's faster too. Android 4.0 doeasn't even have hw acceleration yet.

Agreed, at this moment CM7 is much more stable and also faster, i tried CM9 but some apps didn't work and sometimes the phone was getting slow all of the sudden not to mention the browser was always crashing, im using CM7 now and its so fast and stable
You can use CM7 and see it flying, but without some of the phone features, like video call (I'm not talking about Skype or viber, just the native one), smart share, divx, hdmi video resize... Or you can try one of stock roms with the great kernels from here and have a full phone.

Thanks for all the replies. Will try out soon. Also, I have noticed that the battery life for the optimus 2x is so bad! With stock froyo last night, after just about 2hrs of some wifi and games, the battery has already gone down to 15%!!! That's how bad it is!
Is this normal? Should I return the phone to the store?
Also, will the gingerbread update and/or custom rom flashing bring about better life for the battery?

DjangoManouche 1.1 is highly recommended with V20q baseband and HP SR3R2 Kernel. After trying out many stock variants, Modaco ROMS, Thanatos and CM ROMS, I finally settled on this one as it has resolved all the issues I had with the phone and gives good battery and network performance.
i am running rooted stock KTN 2.3.6. they phone lags alot, i have 56.7mb free on my internal memory. i have 8gb memory card. there are only 28 apps installed. my launcher, i have set it to only one screen with only dock icons.
the problem is my phone takes too long to start and freezes alot.
i wanted to downgrade to FROYO?
Need to know whether it will be a good idea or not? Will i see any difference?

Well, you can always go back to froyo.. the problem is app compatibility.. e.g. equalizer apps won' t work in froyo and a lot other's.. but someone here is comfortable using froyo so you might wanna give it a shot..
Why not flash custom roms?

As far as I understood, gingerbread has better performance
not recommended to go back but you can just download the firmware which have all the files like arm11boot, data.rfs, system.rfs, cache.rfs etc.
Try Andro-ID 3.3.1 / Emanon V6.
not recommended. gingerbread has better memory management and battery... flash to another baseband if u want..or why not try a custom rom. ? andro-id 3.3.1 is gud...

I cant use any other than stock because i use my phone to the maximum. i use alot of navigation due to my job and if my gps fails then i am doomed.
custom roms have always let me down. the only custom rom that was stable for me for a while was Chocobread 2.2. after awhile it started playing up,

Hey guys - I'm about to give my i9001 away having just got a Nexus 4. In the meantime I've been having stability issues with this rom (ivendor cm10.1) - regular shutdowns that require removing and replacing the battery to fix, and various freezing issues.
So I'm looking for a very stable, very polished, simple ROM to put on before I give it away to someone who's a pretty good friend. Something CM based would be grand, and GB based is fine if those are the most stable (and she's used to GB). Any ideas?
After that I guess I'll be signing out of this area - you've all been a great help and I'm sure I would have dumped the phone long ago without you!

Oh, ok . Sorry, wasn't thinking straight, still can't. Sick . But yea, he can also try broodROM GB or ICS if he wants. FOr me JB is stable. but I guess it's diffrent for everybody, I don't use my phone that much now because I'm very busy with school and whatnot. But in the end it's up to him. I would recomend GB anyway, cuz she is use to it, and it is blazing fast.
