Hi. I was running CM7 fine and then flashed MIUI last night and now i can't change the kernel or modem no matter how many times i try and flash in clockwork or clear caches or factory reset. I've lost cell network completely. Wifi works interestingly. Any ideas?
Anyone got any ideas how to fix this so I can actually flash new modems and krnels? They show as successfully flashing in CWM but About Phone doesnt change!
Would love to avoid going to sto ck via Odin if I can.

what modem and kernel are you trying to flash. you need the update .zip to be designed for gingerbread, different scripting for gb. so the kernel shouldn't be a problem unless you are trying to revert to 2.2.
im not sure if gingerbread is weird but maybe you can extract the zimage and modem.bin you are trying to flash and archive them in .tar files and odin flash. as long as you are not flashing anything with boot.bin or sbl.bin it shouldn't break the ability to odin back to stock.
A word of caution: If u get on GB kernel, and go to recovery, and try to use these kernel zips to flash back, they won't work. I realized this the hard way last night.

if you read any cm7 or other gingerbread thread they say you need 3 button recovery/download. this is one reason why! i think there should be a generic froyo kernel in the proper type of update file to revert. but maybe they are trying to scare away newbs till they complete cm7 or atleast have a release candidate.
Sorted in the end.
I just formatted every partition in Mounts and Storage first before a reflash.

I have a i9000 phone here that i decided to flash a new kernal to. I flashed speedmod to it. It was originally completely stock 2.2 except that it had root. Anyways i flashed new kernel in odin. The kernel flashed and the it looked to be right, except it wont power on. the only thing i can do is get into download mode. any ideas.
find stock ROM and flash it with odin! its not bricked. connect it to odin and flash whole ROM the same way as u did with kernel.
use the search option to find the stock flashable with odin mate.
GL
Try and flash again friend. Im sure it will work out
If that doesn't work then download the file again and flash the phone
Good Luck
P.S. PM me if u can't get it
What Odin/One click package should i download to get root with GB bootloaders with CWM and flash zip file roms only? So i can flash roms like Fasty III and others? Which one is suggested for great battery life? Experts please
First off you don't need root to flash a rom. as for bootloaders use either a leak 2.3.5 i897 rom with bootloader or just the bootloader package. They are stickied in Dev section.
Can you please send me a link im new at all this but im learning i have Odin 3 v 1.81 and Odin v 1.81 ATT GB bootloaders extracted. I just want to be able to use download mode jig and plug in USB and go.
I have UCK H3 one click is that good enough to get started? Could i flash a rom in rom manager like fasty III im looking for fast and grt battery life.
KH3 1 click should be good. Don't use Rom Manager. Here you can find everything you will need. Just flash KH3 or any other GB leak, let it boot up normally, flash (with ODIN or SGS kernel flasher(app)) the boog's kernel that has CWM, let it boot up normally. Boot up in recovery and flash the rom.
Yea ive seen this which one should i pick and with or w/o bootloaders. 2.3 or 2.4.5 not sure? Just want the best one for speed and battery life and i like launcher pro.
I don't use launcher pro so can't say. But IMO KH3 or KJ3 would be my best (I still use KH3 modem). You need bootloaders so you can flash one with bootloaders.

SGS kernel flasher requires root. Which rooting involves a kernel swap with Odin anyway, so for this purpose its pretty useless.
I just flashed UCK H3 and while in process i checked flash bootloaders now im soft bricked. Will the download mode jig help? I have one i dont know what to do. It doesnt work. What can i do am i screwed? I have the soft brick symbols on my phone now.
Reboot pc, swap usb Ports (make sure its one on the back of the PC), right click Odin and ruin as admin, put .tar in pda slot, Pull battery, replace, use jig, ignore screen that appears, connect to PC if Odin recognizes it hit start.
Grt thanks ok i got the fish now what do i reboot or what and add kernel next? I still have Odin opened and USB plugged in
Disconnect, close Odin. Pull battery, replace, use jig, flash boog's kernel the same edu you flashed the fugu kernel.
Im getting a screen that looks like a TV screen all lines what the heck is that? Its boots to ATT logo then TV screen all colors and lines. I did the kernel it passed but not sure whats going on now. It keeps rebooting ATT screen and TV looking screen
... That sounds like you didn't flash correct bootloaders. Correct me if Im wrong. On a side note ya Studa I had a brain fart on SGS kernel flasher.
I can still get in download mod with jig. Cant i try a diffrent package in Odin?
Did you use KH3 with bootloaders?
Not sure what to do im trying the AIO toolbar and im enabled for root phone but seems like nothing is happeneing im still in download mode
that is froyo boots on a gingerbread ROM.
op flash this package
That will flash the gingerbread bootloaders which will get rid of those lines and make it possible to boot into recovery.
DO NOT USE AIO TOOLBOX AFTER THIS PACKAGE IT WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE. might as well just delete that for safe measure.
Ok i was in recovery in rebooted phone now im at ATT screen logo no lines now. What do i do now is there a rom to flash or am i even rooted? Can i go into download mode and flash a kernel
Im staying at recovery till i hear back from someone lol. Where do i go from here?
This is the first time I've had this happen - see many others in similar situation but now it's me :-(
I was rocking the most stable, smooth and battery- life- loving setup of ICS ever on my i9000 after trying almost all of the Roms and kernels out there.
In the end the Elite7.1Beta worked amazingly for me and I set it all up just nice and really had no reason to start messing with it.
....So I messed with it (to get even better battery life) and flashed the B6 ICY Glitch kernel and then - bootloop.
So I need an ICS/CM9 tar kernel file (any with CWM recovery will do) that I can use to reflash the original Devil 15.1 kernel.
Believe me, I've searched and serched and simply cannot find a tar version of any of the main ICS kernels out there (glitch, semaphone, devil etc). Why are there no more tar files anymore? Am I missing something?
I've even tried extracting the kernel from boot.img using cygwin and a tutorial I found on the net - but being an untran00b I did something horribly wrong and now thank goodness I can still get Download mode.
So:
Can someone please let me know where I can find a .tar kernel for ICS/CM9 that I can flash with Odin? Or how to make one from a kernel .zip or boot.img file?
OR: Can I just flash a boot.img in Odin (doesn't look like it but just wondering?) I'v not tried that because I've messed this up enough already.
Any help greatly appreciated

well i was in the same situation and i didnt have ssdd48 to help me ..
try his method i have read that it works .. if not i believe there is a speedmod kernel which has a tar file google that
for me eventually nothing worked so i had to flash a gingerbread rom thru odin and start over .. good luck
Thanks for the replies guys. Managed to fix it in the end using Darkcore kernel which gave me working recovery (even though Gingerbread based) but really appreciate you linking me the recovery file ssdd48.
Cheers!
I have the same problem with B6!! But I use the ssdd48 way, and it works perfectly (really thanks), after that y flashed again B6 via CWM and it works fine.
I might be wrong but doesn't Heimdall support flashing boot.img?

hey mate, when you flash a kernel you dont lose any data right? I only need to get into CWM because I get bootloops and then I will reflash semaphore kernel
should "auto reboot" in odin be enabled?

Interesting.
I just re-flashed the ROM via CWM.
It includes a kernel.
If that didn't work, I'd use the kernel cleaning script, and the re-flash the ROM.
Hi,
I tried to flash the datafix for CM9 but it got me into a bootloop (using semaphore 1.0.1s kernel).
I flashed this file to fix the recovery but from here things aren't going so well...
I tried to restore my nandroid backup - didn't work (tried to restore only /system though, but saw it failed).
then I tried to reflash CM9 (19.4 nightly) - failed.
then I tried to reflash the semaphore kernel - succeeded but now my phone is stuck on the "galaxy S gt-1900 screen" (I can get into the recovery though, the one included in the fix).
What can I do now? I can't even get my phone to boot...
Thanks!

Anyone?
Yes!
I was having the same problem, for 2 times now actually. The first time I had to go all the way back to gingerbread. Now it happened to me a second time, I searched again and found a solution.
I think the rescue .tar doesn't have the right CWM in it to install the ICS rom. I've found a Odin installable kernel with the right CWM, its here:

I hope this helps more people in this situation!

My question: I have a SGN infected with the eMMC bug, and I want to upgrade it to the latest stock ROM. I know very little about flashing, and I know there are some risks when doing some things. I would like to know if the first link is safe for me, and which ROM I should use of the ones listed there (I live in The Netherlands). Do you guys have any tips or some guides made for the noobs among us?
that 1st link is the safest and best.
download the rom of. your choice. It. doesn't need to be of. your region. although you can check the latest firmware on www.samfirmware.com....
Once downloaded, use pc odin with the downloaded rom tar.md5 file selected in the pda tab. The connect the phone to pc in download mode and press start.
If you are upgrading to ics, then do not do any wipes, first flash a safe kernel...

Thanks for replying. Good to know that that thread is safe, but what do you mean by flashing a safe kernel? Those terms mean nothing to me.
theres two way to flash ROM. 1 is using PC ODIN and the other one is CWM
Flashing Via PC ODIN .. you need to have two thing.. The Rom You Want to flash and the PC-ODIN software
Flashing Via CWM.. you need two things. You need to root your phone and you need to install CWM.
every rom comes with modem, kernel (the file that govern how to handle your phone cpu), csc... the kernel inside ics is known to have brickbug
theres no need to flash kernel if you are flashing Rom via PC ODIN... Flashing kernel is when you are using CWM....

So, I can just flash any ROM using ODIN, and there will be no risk bricking my device?
If I flash a ROM, will I have a fresh install, and will my kernel also change so that I don't have the brickbug anymore?

yes you can flash any ROM using ODIN safely without bricking your device.
yes you will have a fresh install. your kernel will change too. as for the brickbug....
If you flash via PC ODIN then everything is stock to what you flashed.the kernel the firmware the csc the modem..all as stock provided....
1.If you flash ICS via PC-ODIN then your kernel also would be stock ics kernel that has brickbug..
Warning :
Don't wipe anything from stock ICS recovery
Don't factory reset/Hard reset on stock ICS.
Don't flash any Wipe version of ICS ROM
let say you want to flash Latest JB Rom but you are on ICS stock.
first thing you need to do is root your device ...install CWM.. Flash safe kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
let say ive rooted... installed CWM with safe kernel...
what i always do is everytime i want to flash new rom whatever rom it is...i flash Speedmod 3-15 (safe kernel) and go to Advance>reboot recovery and flash any rom i want so that im on the safe side without worrying what kernel im on.
2.If you flash GB than your kernel will be GB kernel which is safe to wipe..
if you want to flash custom rom from gb then you root your device and installed CWM and Flash since GB kernel is safe.
but.. let say u flashed ICS and wanted to go back to GB. then you are not safe anymore,,, that is why i always flashed Speedmod kernel 3-15 (safe kernel) and reboot recovery (by going to advance>rebootrecovery) and flashed any rom... that way im always sure that im in safe kernel when flashing Rom

You can download any stock rom you want from searching it on the forum then you can flash it through ODIN using your computer
