.901 fixed the bionic! - Motorola Droid Bionic

Im so glad I updated my phone to this version! 5.5.893 did not fix anything and I was so disappointed .... but .901 makes my bionic a bad ass phone... 3 days running with zero data lost. Battery life is a lot better too. If u are in the same situation I was don't think about it and update your phone to this version.

I just did this like 10 mins ago and now running eclipse 2.1. So far so good. Coming from .893 and KIN3TiX

You shouldn't have a problem updating if you flash 901 and leave it stock. They pushed it ota to som bionics, so they should support it for future ota updates. Even if they don't support it for some reason, you can use P3droid's one click to revert back and take the update.

New 5.5.891 update (root users do not update)

I've had a few people I know get this update. Its supposed to be updated in november. Guess they are rolling out early.

Is this the one that fixes everything?!

This is not an Ota update right? I am enjoying [R3]BLURR3D V1.8 way to much to loose root.
P3droid released a mod to keep root on any updates.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk
and I hope that works, I did the exact same thing..
So, I am fearless.. Where can we get the update?
Have they actually gotten the update with a stock Bionic or did they find it online and decide to install it?
As far as I've seen, the current leaked OTA is 5.5.893....5.5.892 was being tested by the Motorola Field Testers and today a small update to 5.5.893 was released so I assume the Motorola Field Testers are now testing 5.5.893.
I wouldn't install anything till we at least have confirmation that it is the actual OTA...otherwise you might not be able to get future updates.

Has anyone updated to 891-893 after applying the "forever root" technique? If so experience?
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
Well i tried and. . . I still have root. 5.5.893 with root
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
I did the forever root along with the update and everything turned out fine.
Glad it worked

Both lol

Data drops

So I've seen all over here and DROID fourms that people are dropping data and I just started have an issue im on. 902 are people on custom roms having these issue or is it mostly with stock builds
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
Both

When your data drops, when is it doing it? Is it just a random thing.
Sent from the Evil Empire
Its mostly when I leave my house I have wiring at home but when I leave I got to reboot to get data back on and it doesn't always do it either I was trying to root it to rum cm9 but can't get it rooted either but that kinda off topic
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
Does toggling airplane mode do anything?
You don't happen to have a power saver on your phone?
Sent from the Evil Empire
My data drops more than ever on 902. They are random. I lost data three times yesterday. Restart connections from the market sometimes works. I factory reset and tried roms. On 901 I hardly got any drops. On 886 I had a bunch. 893 fewer. 902 is just as bad as 886 for me. Data saver is off. Luckily data doesn't go out for long.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk
No airplane modes doesnt' do anything and yeah 901 was great never had a problem but now on 902 i am having issues again. If i go back to 901 can you do it without losing personal data and if so can you go back to 893 so i can root and then goto 901??
Im on 902 and I havent noticed a single power drop. Im stock build, but rooted.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
+1 on the 902 drops. Seems more frequent than any other version..
I was on. 893 and had maybe 2 data drops over a month. Simce updating to .902 my data drops nearly every ten minutes without fail.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
On .893 stock rooted and Eclipse i had very few problems with data. Seemed like more of just a minute or two hang ups. Now on .902 stock rooted I seem to just randomly lose data from anywhere from 30 seconds to 10 mins. Haven't tried any "quick fixes" yet because it generally returns some what quickly. Just frustrating to have an update magnify what was once a barely noticeable annoyance.
Now are any of u guys have the issue where it shows u have data but the 3g is white and nuttin works the progress ring just sits there and spins but nuttin downloads or nuttin happens?? This again is on 902 unrooted
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
Yup that happens all the time to me.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
Do u have problems with sending picture msgs
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
.893 Kinetx FTW!!
Sent from my Iced Bionic
Yep. Generally goes white 4g white 3g then either nothing or my 4g picks back up. Use wifi when I can but I have unlimited data n 4g is generaly at least twice as fast as my wifi.
So I thought I'd give an update that might help some others I rolled back to 901 and rooted and now I have no problems expect a weird bug with not being able to send pic msgs no matter what update or ROM I'm on
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
I am on my 6th Droid Bionic from Verizon?? Honestly both Verizon & Motorola's updates have in my opinion done nothing to improve the data dropping problems, and I to have had more 3g & 4g data drops since the .902 update and completely random?

ZV8 update

Just got a notification to update to ZV8 on my GVolted revo. Anyone else seen this or know what is updating? I cancelled it until I found out more about it. Verizon's Revolution support site only mentions zv7.

Yup, just got the notice. Am on GV2.0 also.

I was tempted to let the update go through to see what it did, but I'm currently driving from San Francisco to yuma, AZ and need my phone for navigation/music purposes and didn't want to kill my phone for the rest of my trip if something went wrong.
I am curious to know what it does though, if anyone's brave enough to risk losing root, or updates by accident

LG revo update
Found this:

any way to stop besides deferring?
Don't update unless you put stock recovery back on other wise it will fail then you are going to see if you can get root again hopefully, one of the newer exploits for the esteem/spectrum might help with this.

Wifes phone updated and radio, kernal, build #, and sw version changed. It just said phone enhancements so im not sure what yet...lol. Tried mine for the hell of it and downloaded fine but wouldnt install due to clockwork, so i just rebooted and all is same as it was. Will switch recoveries later and try again.

Edit: kernal did not change but it is android 2.3.6 now

HA.. that is creepy. I am sure MT will find a way to block that on next GingerVolt.
Cant seem to get stock recovery back on here. I followed steps and it said it was good to go but when update tries to install it goes back to clockwork. Any help would be cool. Thanks

Best choice for backups?

I haven't been keeping up on the development of the bionic as much add i did with my Dinc. I'm asking for facts and opinions as to the best way to back up a ROM, and compatibility as far as going from one version to another. i.e. if you save a back up on the 6.7.2233 leak, what if any will work once official update comes out
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
Titanium backup has never let me down for back up.
Now as for compatibility for upgrading. There's a script from SamuriHL i believe that will allow you to upgrade and retain all data. I have not used said script but a search I'm the forum should be able to point you to the right track.

Data issues 3rd Bionic.

Just received my 3rd Bionic last Friday and last night data issues started again. I thought it was the ROM I was using. Nope, went back to stock and still dropping. My husband's Bionic has never had one issue.
Should I demand something besides the Bionic? This is BS. Never had this issue with my other phones.

You try any of the ICS leaks? Data is usually solid.
Sure did, Been on .232 since it was leaked. I've tried several different ROMs. Was on the JB ROM(AOKP not CM10) until last night when the drops started.
I just have crap luck anyway.
Last drop took 10 minutes to get Data back. I almost threw it out onto the highway, I need it to be dependable for work.

Yes that's what I was using.
As for the SIM, I think I'm going to ask when I call(going into a physical location does not a damn thing) here in a few minutes. It would make more sense than, every Bionic I get sent being bad.

I took my Bionic into a Verizon store for a new SIM card in early September. I had previously received one replacement Bionic. Since the new SIM card didn't help, I called Verizon tech support again and asked for a different model. They shipped a Droid Razr under my warranty. I'm very happy with it.
