My galaxy note is not even lasting a day with 1 or 2 call and mostly online via wifi. On checking battery usage stats i find the screen consuming most of the power.
Is this mormal for note?

Since Galaxy Note has a huge screen, it is pretty normal. In fact, with normal usage, it is usually NOT normal for anything else to take more power than the screen.
With normal usage, the battery life usually really dependent on how long the screen is on. I also suggest you turn off wifi when not in range, since searching for wifi connection while none are available drains quite a lot of power.
44% is normal, but lasting only a day with a couple of calls is not.
Firstly you could turn auto-updating of apps off, as 9% is quite a lot for Market to use.
Secondly, do you need media sharing on? That's using 11%.
I have wi-fi and GPS on at all times and have no problems lasting 2 days with moderate usage.

I think what the OP means is that he has had a couple of calls and has been browsing the net a lot (also judging by the Opera Mobile consumption), so, depending on the amount of time spent browsing the web (with screen-on), the battery time could be OK.
Nevertheless, the tips are good.
Ah, I see. Yeah, unfortunately web browsing is a killer. Makes you really appreciate sites with a dark theme / lights off option
It is almost impossible to get more than 5 hours of screen on time. Check that.

I think it strongly depends on what you're doing.
Playing a 1.5 hour video only used 18% battery for me, giving a projected video playback of over 8 hours. But it was a video of standup which is mainly dark greys / blacks.

Depends on how bright your screen is, and what colors you are viewing.
You can web browse like crazy, especially opera mobile, if you go to 'green on black' mode i.e. forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1326434
My screen brightness is really low with the screen Filter application. But still I get about 16 to 20 hours.

Yup its very true...... Watching Ring 1 (almost dark all time) for 2 hrs drained battery from 100 to 81 % only. On the other hand, whatsapp (uses full white screen)continuously for 45 mins drains almost 20 %
So it really depends on for what time screen is displaying white (or brighter colours) on how much part of the screen.
Hence now i m using custom whatsapp in dark mode with black background, it helped in a lot.

Hey,
It's been 2 weeks since I got my Black 32Gig Nexus 5, I was a little bit afraid about the battery backup of N5 from reviews, every reviewer pointed out that N5 battery is downright bad but after getting my device I found out that N5 battery is NOT that bad but actually offers good backup :fingers-crossed: , the funny thing is when I charged first time and used my N5 it went down after just 5 hours with SOT of 2 hours !! but what makes me wonder is that after my first charging backup starts to increase !! I don't know why is this happening but battery backup actually increased noticeably day after day, I just don't know how this is happening may be battery is taking time to set up, I know first days we use our device with everything turned on thereby draining battery more than after getting used to but I can confirm that's not the case, backup is actually increasing. I have attached images of my current backup+settings.
Battery Status
Total time on battery : 20 Hours
Screen on time : 5 hours
Settings
Not Rooted.
Brightness: 20%(Approx.), Auto was too bright.
Location : On all the time with Battery saving mode.
WIFI: On all the time
Data: On all the time(HSPDA)
Bluetooth/NFC: Off all the time(I didn't had a chance to use it)
Google Now/ Location reporting : On
Vibration on typing(Key touch): Off (prolly most don't care about this but a big battery drainer)
Usage
30 mins of phone call
30-40 mins of web browsing with Chrome
30 mins of gaming (Temple run and NFS)
20 mins of music
Couple of photos taken
Couple of apps downloaded with playstore etc
I know battery is NOT a pro side of N5 but 20 hours is all I expect from a quad core smartphone !! also backup is really not a dealbreaker for Nexus 5.
My humble small review
Cons (That would go first)
Speaker - This is the biggest problem and a "can be deal breaker" con of N5, I never expected BOOMSOUND from this phone but current ouput is downright bad.
Camera App - Sucks big time, lot of time to focus etc but don't take me wrong image quality is NICE.
A bigger battery would have been better (Not saying current backup is bad)
Button rattling, negligible but shows production carelessness.
IR Blaster would have been nice, It's kinda asking a lot for $350 device it would have been a bigger plus since Kitkat is natively supporting it.
Pros
Everything else than cons about the phone are huge pros

While I haven't seen any crazy battery life from this phone I have been getting 4½ hours screen time with 20+ hours on a charge consistently. After I figured after that touch sounds were causing a bad wakelock I was having the first couple days.
So I'm perfectly happy with battery life, its an improvement over my G'Nex and that's on LTE the entire time.

Hi all,
I am new to this forum...just quickly asking if there is any Lt25i user on this forum having the same issue with the battery. I've been using it for about 8 months with a stock rom (4.1.2, all updated). It is good device in generally apart from the battery which drain itself in about 8 hours or 9 hours of normal office worker use (you know, reply 20 or 30ish msgs or a couple calls total 30 mins tops, play around during lunch time, on a HSPA+ network, not LTE, about 20 apps installed on the device and no games at all).. and sometimes you can see the battery percentage drops down by one or two percent when you have been whatsapping continuously for about 10 mins..That's so much quicker than the other phone that I have (Galaxy S4). any one experiencing the same issue? what would you recommend? I am planning to flash the rom but not entirely sure which to choose. Your response is appreciated.
Ray
Youre not alone buddy. Although to many causes frustrations, if I'm just texting (whatsapp) I just leave it on Edge, or disable mobile data when im not using the phone. It's when I'm surfing the net that I'll leave it on HSPA+.

A lil battery optimization even on this 'tiny' battery by 2014 standards could have gone a long way.

To be quite honest, 5.5 hours of screen on is pretty darn awesome for any Android phone except behemoths like RAZR MAXX or Galaxy Note models.

However, with HSPA+ always on I can only get around 3.5-4 hours SOT at 15 plus hours on battery. The OP should install BBS and check what eats his battery on the background. 8 hours is pathetic.

Hi Everyone,
Quick question on battery life implications ( if any ) when using themes developed for Watch Styler - is there an expected battery life implication, little, moderate or high (perhaps dependent on the complexity of the theme)? Or nothing at all?
I ask as I have noticed a battery life degradation recently, and I cannot seem to pin down any specific usage differential aside from recently starting to use themes for Watch Styler. Don't want to jump to any definitive conclusions.
Check this thread ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2659023
With stock faces I get 3 days of battery life. Using watchstyler I get 1 to 1.5 days worth of battery using the motion feature to wake the watch. If you set the gear not to wake up on motion, battery life can be as good as the stock face.

I would generally agree with your estimates, based on my experience.
The only thing is that i get worse battery life with watchstyler in use with or without motion. obviously motion zaps the battery badly but for me, watchstyler also kills it too.
Around noon, with watchstyler on, I have 75% left, normally without, i would have 90%. Its very noticeable.

Anecdotally I seem to notice better battery life when using themes rather than watch faces created from the watch styler app. wondering if anyone else has noticed this

i didn't really use my watch much but my stats were: 16 hrs usage, drain was 100 % to 68% , so 32% battery drain in 16hours, i think i had my BT on all the time and connected to bt tethering with my nexus 5
screen ontime was like 25mins i think according to GSAM pro battery app
is that good?

Yes. For being BT PAN tethered all that time, thats good.
The question is: Did you have Watchstyler on? I would guess so, since your posting in this thread but I think it needs to be asked...
I beleive the background color of the pictures used also affects the battery. I've tested two themes and when using darker theme, the battery last longer.

Ive had the note since a day before launch and i havent been able to get more than three hours screen time out of it on auto brightness and simply texting or web browsing. It also has a lot of performance issues i cant figure out. Like severe animation lag when sending a hangout message, or huge keyboard typing delays.
Ive factory reset several times, and there arent any wakelocls. Standby time is great actually.

Simply saying you have a bad battery life without itentifying if you are rooted or not, without providing any information about your battery, without showing your wakelock is rather...not a good way to acquire help.
P.S simply rooting and installing xpose will not give you battery life

That's actually what i ended up doing. Too early to tell, but I'm at an hour screen time (mostly hangouts, web browsing, email) and at 72% battery. Hasn't seemed to help performance much. I have 5 pages of apps including all the stock stuff. I lost 10% battery listening to an audible book for an hour too which seems high.
My issue is charging via pc USB port. with stock rim it would charge fine full charge as normal and the same with note 3 I had custom rom and with stock no issue. But with custom rom same thing running same apps and only playing Google music on the background the battery doesn't charge as well as it did. Not sure if there is any tips out there about that but as mentioned the only difference is that this is a note 4 the others note 3 and even on this for stock rom battery charges well with USB pc output. This is normally at work while sitting down on my desk and connected to my pc. While listening to music on headphones.
Sent from my SM-N910T using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Mine did the same, it actually lost more power than it could charge, it went away, I'm not sure what I did, but now it's just as good as my note 3
Thanks for the input I don't want to go back to stock since these roms are just to smooth running on skyfall now. I'll likely wait and test it out for a few more days. But mine currently does trickle charge but so slow. My worry is long trips. But overall battery life is good.

Yesterday I got 4 hours screen time with 10% left. Android OS taking up the vast amount of the battery. That is decent, but I was really expecting more in the 5-6 hour area, especially considering my light usage model. I dont play games, or watch videos on it.
I m getting around 4-4.5 hours screen on time , Aod off , Edge off , Just wifi is on at home and its off when i go out and mobile data is on . Usage - browsing , netflix , web . Power saving mode is disabled , Brightness is around medium and resolution is FHD+ , Its been 2 weeks + since i got it.
What should i do , I see people getting way more along with way more usage than mine .
same, its hard for me to get over 5 hours.

What service provider do you have ?
Are you using a dark theme? Darker colors are easier on the battery to produce on an AMOLED screen.
What are you doing during screen-on time? If you are doing resource intensive activities like using Navigation, that will absolutely kill battery. Someone having 5+ hours of screen-on time, may be doing something passive with their screens on. It's really difficult to go apples to apples in these cases.
User sewe used 1659 mAh on screen during his 7h+ run. How much is your stating is due to screen in mAh?
same here, exynos, running in performance mode, wifi & mobile data on, 6.45 on battery and 4.40 screen on time, 56% left on battery, I do turn screen brightness down a bit as I don't need it full whack when in doors
The only other factor is gonna be wakelocks , or Signal strength.

So, it sounds like you have the Exynos version. I have been hearing some stuff about shorter battery times on different variants. I think they might be Exynos related.
Are most of you using WQHD? I had an S8 Plus and then got the Note 8 and I can say from using both phones the Note 8 doesn't have as good battery life. I run my screen on WQHD and I get through most of the day. Battery life is average in my view, but battery life isn't a big issue since the Note 8 has fast wireless charging and fast wired charging and I have a portable battery so I always have something to charge the phone. I mean worse battery life was expected compared to the S8 Plus, bigger display and all with a smaller battery...
