[Q] Anybody even started to think about a cm9 port? - LG Optimus Black

Did anybody start to think about porting a cm9 build for OB?
Porting a build meant for the samsung galaxy SL I9003 should be quick as both of these phones have almost exact similar specs.
Anyone???

perhaps you already know it, but CM team is on it, especially Ricardo for our OB... (and on all LG androphones btw)so there is no need of porting

Don't expect any soon.... because not all hardware is functioning like camera prob.

MIUI is now open-sourced...

Hello,
So.. Yeah! MIUI is now open-source. The TeamCooper already has an Alpha released on their FB page. All the news about MIUI opensource : http://androidcommunity.com/chinese-oem-xiaomi-publishes-miui-open-source-code-20120203/ .
Have a nice day!
Now only if some dev starts working on a port for mini
I like MIUI's simplicity. If we get a port I won't be upgrading my phone anytime soon lol!
Nice news Hope someone will make a MIUI for Galaxy Mini
this is good news. hope other developers will make one for our MINI.
too much for cm7 hahahahaha MUI FTW!!!!!!!!
I can't wait.......><

Wow... How supportive you guys are.... Still this is fun no matter what you say.... I still research myself. And so you know probably in two days i'm gonna release a guide how to run debian + lxde on our mini without losing android . And btw - most of the guys release just news too.... But you don't say anything to them... Either way what you said got on my mind and i will keep that. But it won't change something major in me
So will be avaible a MIUI rom for our device ?
first of all wrong section
second: developers already know that
3.when squadzone finishes cm9 he will probebly make miui v4 (my opinion cause his awesome xD)
I don't think it's a wrong sections. Since it development related news....

Someone correct me,
as said here (in 2nd post) :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1478558&highlight=miui
They just tell u how to port it and it's not the complete source code.
They threw in the source for a few apps...that's all.
Because MIUI is based on CM, we just take CM9, integrate MIUI source (apps, framework) in CM9 source and compile.

Correct.
Miui guys just took CM and modified it and kept it as closed source for quite a time.
But I think first we needa have stable CM9.

[q] honeycomb roms?

any 1 know of honeycomb based roms i found one on another website is there any development of honeycomb for mini that anyone knows of??
honeycomb?
i think honeycomb was designed to run on tablets only. im not sure if it can be ported properly to work on mini but chances are, it might not work due to our device's specs
Source code for honeycomb was never released to public, so there's no honeycomb roms, and that's also why there's no cyanogenmod 8. And the one you linked is just themed cm7.
We don't need honeycomb it even lags on dual and quad core devices, so on our mini it would be a disaster. And it's only for tablets

Honeycomb's source code was released when ICS's was released. But as 4.0 was out, nobody saw the point in developing a 3.0 ROM.

If your camera works then why not share to FOP. Camera from ICS isn't different to JB. Atleast people here can have an almost fully functional ICS.
Tell you what, if you want the credits (as your sig implies), release an ICS ROM with a working camera. That's it!
As i said before if you need help i´m here Are you compiling from source ?
Amazing!
Looking foward to your release!

What do you mean by "Camera Working" ?
Fully working or some functions are working ?
I still doubt it is CM10, but if you proof me different, I ll accept it. Still screenshots show nothing different but ICS. And where is the big difference between ICS and Jelly? I dont see it, sorry...

HW Accelerated ICS Roms

Anyone know an ICS Rom that has HW acceleration? I've tried Nova and Hellfire Sandwich but neither has that. Suggestions. Currently runnign stable CM 7.2.
The ISC drivers that are needed for acceleration are available, but are useless until LG releases some sort of Kernel to work with the drivers to my understanding. They are obligated to release the kernel and other stuff needed for developers to build a Complete and stable rom, but no one knows when. It should be soon tho, my guess 1week-1month maybe even sooner.
Here is the website, not sure if its official or not. As you can see, the kernel currently on the site is for v20(Gingerbread I think) we need v30 which is for ICS
http://code.google.com/p/openstar2x/
Since we don't have the drivers, we can't have hw accelerated roms.. so you'd better wait for lg official update..

@Dimension 2035 Thanks for the explanation. Is it safe to assume that when official ICS for p990 drops (its out for su660) then the dev team will have the kernel they need to work with?
@Byteater Definitely won't ever do an official LG update. When I tried upgrading to official Gingerbread my phone got bricked past recovery, luckily the guys i bought it from sent me a new one and so instead I just flashed CM 7 the next time and it works great... prolly better than official LG ICS when that comes out.

There is only one place I know that may bring ICS to the P990 and that is LG Singapore. If they do it will be Perfect!
Here is a discussion thread about it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1851702

you don't need to upgrade the phone to official ICS. But the official release (with source codes) will help devs to extract drivers and to insert them in cm 10 roms

NO!
we have to wait for the sources otherwize we wont know what to do with the binaries, also, 4.0.4 to 4.1.1 didnt suffer such drastic changes as its made obvious by the very small difference from 1 to the other, theyr both 4. something, so theyr almost the same except for some optimizations in jb if i didnt understand wrong. bottom line is, as soon as we get the sources well have a fully working cm10 rom in very little time, drivers are all thats missing since only camera doesnt work properly now... (at least in the cm10 rom im using(tony. p's hackfest)
I'll be waiting patiently for the developers to work their magic I guess!

Hi.
I'm using Nova HD rebuild ICS CM9 ROM on my Optimus 2x and i'm very happy with it but I'm missing HW support. It was said that the devs couldn't do anything until LG releses update for ICS. This is what I found on internet:
"Android 4.0 now available for LG Optimus 2X... in South Korea, anyway" (sorry I can't post a link...it's on engadget.com)
so would this help or are we still just hopping nont to be stuck on GB.
Tnx for answer.

Am I alone in wanting ICS/CM9?

The Jelly Bean ROM's are great, but for me there's just too many bugs.
We have the ICS source now and I'd love a stable CM9 build. Unfortunately it looks like attn1 may have moved on, and all the other devs seem to be just working on JB.
Dude your not alone...count me in for that...if i knw step by step guide to at least to compile an AOSP kernel I would do it now
i ll waiting too but however stable cm9 or cm 10 doesnt exisit by now
Be patient
No I'm waiting for CM9 o CM10 too for a valid porting of MIUI
Everyone is waiting for CM9 but we need a kernel to get everything working propably! Our devs are working on it but they have a life, too. Don't expect sb to do a one-man Jesus show here;D Be patient, we will get fully working CM9 when kernel boots up
And in the future you can post stuff like this in our famous OFF-Topic-thread Keeps the G-Sec clean

It doesn't really matter much which ROM to make - ICS based or JB based CM. Because to make a proper and stable ROM, all you need is to make a stable AOSP\AOKP compatible kernel (and we still don't have one).
PS: AFAIK CM team wont add CM9 support for any more devices, i.e. if they will make a CM for our IncS it will be JB based CM10 and not CM9.
I thought that once we had sources, the kernel would be pretty easy, but then I don't know much about it. Who is working on the kernel?
I also thought that CM would only support a phone if source was available. Since we only have ICS source right now, that would rule out CM10 wouldn't it?

Many of the CM10 ROMs don't have manufacturer source for JB (only ICS) therefore it is safe to assume that our ICS kernel can be used with CM10.
If we want official support we need a maintainer
The maintainer for the 7x30 HTC devices like ours, dhd, desire s etc
Our maintainer, Kali- moved on to Sony devices iirc
If we ask nexx and nk111 (cm devs from desire s) nicely maybe they might build for us
