launcher 360 and sslauncher both really nice - LG Optimus Black

here is the latest 360launcher and sslauncher apps. 360launcher is modded in english (not by me) and it has to be the fastest launcher (most beautifull too) i have ever used. It allows folders even inside app drawer, automatically puts your media in tabs inside app drawer etc. It haz a memory optimizer that really works and an auto power manager with 2 profiles (more options available if you upgrade the power saver for free from within the app). Overall it is bugless other than that the built in weather widget (which is really nice) recognises only chinese cities. sslauncher on the other hand makes your phone look like a magazine cover which is really cool. it has many pages on the main screen with the main page (or more if user specifies) being like a cover with highly customisable styles and the rest being pages with apps contacts(no screenshot for obvious reasons) internet favourites and so on. Both apps are free and some screenshots included. Enjoy.
edit:first 4 pics are launcher360. Rest are sslauncher some greek on it but i forgot o change language
edit2: launcher 360 includes a themechooser app with 30ish themes to download plus an unlocker app with really cool unlock styles (got to see tetris unlock screen)

I used 360 since it's pre-release and it's light and fast, but a bit laggy on drawer. Fewer options than Go Launcher but the stack transition animation make you feel like MIUI Now 1.5.1 is much smoother.
you can find custom themes by xda members right here:

Yeah it's much like miui but i don't like the app icons are all over your homescreen haha. I used that before, also qq & zeam but i turn back to 360
Gabwerkz also kanged miui launcher with some addition, i don't know if it still ongoing or abandoned.
Thanks

Well in actual MIUI there is no app drawer so the icons are all over your screen as well....

I know, i use miui 1.12 on N1 and also NS MIUI 4 before i switched it to AOSP+ ICS since there is not much themes yet for ics version.
Also make miui themes are a lot easier than CM. Mtz doesn't require signing or compiling. Just zip your file

Adw launcher or launcherpro beta? Whats your take?

I just cant decide which one is the best. I prefer the pinch preview feature that launcher pro has. Works almost like sense ui's, but I like everything else on adw. Mainly the docks and functionality tweaks in the preferences menu. Launcher pro is a bit more snappy, but the pinch preview has gotten me hooked. But the sense ui scroll bouncing is way way better on adw. It gels mute like sense when I scroll. which do you prefer?

I like them both alot .....been using ADW for quite sometime,,,,back when you had to flash it before it was in market ....but now that Launcher Pro allows you to modify the app launchers I am starting to like it more .....
but now i just keep them both installed
I been using adw since it was a flashable zip as well. I remember emailing anderweb about putting it on the market. Still a great app, but launcher pro has upped the ante on better functionality.

I really like launcher pro....I tried Adw but thought laucher pro was visually nicer and faster.
They are both great launchers, I have both installed but currently using ADW. I think, at this point, the scales are tipped toward ADW for me. But you really can't go wrong either way, both great devs and they work in cooperation with each other helping with each others work to make it better. How awesome is that?
Using ADW and haven't tried LP yet.

Well if that's the case, then they need to combine their apps and create the ultimate masterpiece. their pretty much very similar in many ways. The two seem like fragments of what the apps are supposed to be. They just need to bring the two together and form like voltron!! they'll take over the market together.

The developer has acknowledged some kind of problem with the market. You can download the apk from his website. I cannot post links but it is

Awesome! Thanks dude!
launcher pro!!!
it even has the option to make it look like AWD launcher!!
hahaah.. pwnage
Im on the launcher pro bandwagon. Its much better performancE wise. The main thing I like about adw is that 6 icon retractable dock and the way it scrolls. Feels just like sense when you configure it properly. It lags a lil tho. Lp is a lil more reliable, although it had its lags in some areas as well.

Can't use LauncherPro b/c it requires Android 2.1 but ADW Launcher is great, and the latest version has the pinch-preview desktop switching now too.
Adw and launcher pro are now tied in my book.

I say GO. I made the jump from LPP and love GO. I also use GOSMS and GOContacts. That team makes a great product!!!
I do wish they'd do a little more work on their widgets. This is something I'd pay for to get.
Launcher PRO PLUS is a must im using a older version which works great plus way to many features to list can resize widgets custom docks etc and I still can use Scrollable Widgets so i say Launcher PRO PLUS is YES.
I've used them all. GO has been my favorite as far as features, appearance, and customization options. Can't really say I noticed any difference as far as stability or battery usage.
However I've recently switched to a Windows Phone 7 style layout because I like to use Folder Organizer to group my apps and then create my own custom icons using Desktop Visualizer. Unfortunately Go currently doesn't support hiding the dock bar and auto sizing widgets, so I'm back to ADW.
Aside from that, if you're using the standard Android layout, here's how I rank them and why.
1) Go Launcher
- I like the dockbar icons, they're cleaner than the rest IMO.
- I like the ability to hide apps in the drawer - don't believe you can do this in ADW, not sure about LPP. Alternatively if you're rooted you have other options to remove bloatware.
- I like the tabbed drawer view: All Apps, Recent Apps, Running Apps. You can kill apps from the Running Apps view if you're into that.
- I really really like the ability to uninstall apps from the drawer by long-pressing and then selecting the red-X to uninstall
2) LPP
- I like the HTC Sense style widgets.
3) ADW
- I like the ability to hide my dock.
- Doesn't seem to be as customizable as the others.
I have used all and here is what I find.
#1 is ADW in terms of stability
#2 is the stock Launcher
#3 is Go Launcher
#4 is Launcher Pro.
Let me say that I LOOOOOVVVVE Go Launcher, without question it is my favorite but it is not the best! It has every feature of Launcher pro plus, custom backgrounds, the only one that can have nine homescreens, controllable animations, and more options for the app list management. But IMO it gets really laggy sometimes just like Launcher pro. ADW never seems to lag for me but the drop down shortcut bar sucks to me and their options aren't that extensive. They should adopt the scrolling shorcut bar like the other and then i may use it more often.
Go Launcher
-Motorola Droid
-Motorola Droid X²
-Motorola Droid Bionic
Well for me that I'm using a older version of Launcher Pro Plus cause I wanna keep scrollable widgets on my homescreen if I upgrade as the Dev said I'll loose it.
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
I like ADW EX with the large osx style dock.
For some reason I don't trust go. They make a lot of apps that require a lot of permissions and they're all free. Why? Maybe I'm just being paranoid.
I use both LPP and ADW ex. LPP was the best IMO but the dev seems to have stopped updating it. There was supposed to be a major rewrite earlier this year that never happened. I'm slowly transitioning to ADW ex fully.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk
Launcher Pro here.
I am using Launcher Pro. I was using ADW for a while but it felt laggy. When I went to Launcher Pro that was all resolved.
I have used a lot of launchers, I own SPB Shell 3D and Launcher Pro. I tried ADW on Cyanogen and also GO.
Go is nice because of the themes, there is a bunch of themes and some really good ones, plenty of free ones too. Nice widgets. The folder system is also useful. I will say that the transition effects on GO are slower then Launcher Pro. Go does have an extra transition setting when you get out of the app drawer you can make it do different things, like a spinning effect to the home screen etc.
Now as far as speed, Launcher Pro wins hands down, the transitions are super fast, app drawer is also really clean and smooth. I also noticed a significant speed increase on my droid 2 with launcher pro as well, it just has some really good programming for transitions.
They both have the sliding dockbar on the bottom which is customizable and I like that feature.
Also for the record, the Droid Bionic owns SPB shell 3D, pretty darn fast compared to my Droid 2.

Android Home/UI replacement

Hi guys,
Hope all of you are well.
So I'm back after a two year break from iOs to Android.
As I was browsing through the internet and try to look if there are any new alternatives to sweeter home I really couldn't get wiser out of all the information. So before I will start building themes again I was wondering if anyone knows what the top theme alternative apps for the moment are (2012-2013) and would like to share that with me.
In the past I have made some themes on sweeter home like these:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOIopL7bbi4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QOCowHO65c
But that was in the very beginning of the mobile Android platform and there were not many options to customizing your home screen.
So hereby my humble request to some information in the right direction.
With kind regards,
DizzyDix

Wow guys,
This is wonderful, thank you all for the input.
I think you have helped me a long way now with all this info.
I was really stunned by the uccw app, because of its possibilities.
But I will surely check out all apps.
I was kind of disappointed yesterday when I found out my S3 has no scrolling wallpaper function, so they force me again to make my own UI.
And because I dont like using ROM's I rather work with a launcher app/home screen replacement.
While browsing I have seen many good functional and good looking themes, so it is really a challenge for me to bring something out.
First I will play around with android and hopefully start theme'ing after a while.
Wish you all a good day.
Cheers
Dizzy

Launcher/ Home replacement
Hi all,
There has been some mix up, I think because of me.
I get a lot of input from you guys and that is totally cool, never expected that but your info is by far great nice to see the xda community being so helpful.
The mixup:
I don't think I am looking for a "launcher app".
I'm looking for a skin app which lets me change every aspect of the android UI, in this case TouchWiz.
So let's say we have Touchwiz with bottom bar where the apps icon always is outlined on the right and we have the home screen with the status bar etc.
What I want to do is: replace all elements of the TouchWiz. So for example that my homescreen will look like the Mac Os Lion interface on a mac or like the Windows 8 interface on a laptop.
The only app which lets me do that (that I know of) is SweeterHome, but I can't find sweeterhome in the market anymore and Beta 2.0 has bugs.
So then I was informed about:
UCCW
Apex
Nova
Home
iHome
aHome
SPB
LIghting launcher with uccw (that is totally not what I am looking for as I am designing my own theme so I dont want to use someones theme as a consumer but use an app that lets me build a new UI on the android OS.)
Ss launcher
holo launcher
zooper widget (not looking for a widget shell, but thanks for the input)
So, the most important question:
Is there an app that can do the same as SweeterHome?
Im looking forward to hearing from you guys,
Regards,
Dizzy

Hey Bud, thanks for your reply.. but I dont think you understood my message..
I am not looking for someone's theme.
I make themes.
Thanks though..
Unless I'm mistaken it sounds like you're looking for something that would completely change the visual aspects of android ui such as the status bar, menus pop ups and things of that nature afaik the only thing similar to that requires you to be rooted and running custom roms, which has the theme manager and allows you to theme to entire system and framework of android, if your looking for only third party apps available in the market that are themeable I believe super status bar comes with a theme engine as well as omega status bar (for the status bar) however they don't perform very well, and many custom launchers such as apex and nova allows for custom icons and icon packs as well as docks etc... However most themeing will require root as well as a custom roms like CM or PA (paranoid android) or aokp which all have the theme engine included.
Just a side note the theme engine included in these roms are based off the tmobile theme engine and cannot be used as a standalone app

Sorry for the double post, just wanted to let you know there are third party apps that you can use in place of rooting however none will be as effective or theme as thoroughly as using the theme engine. Here's a list of some apps that might do what you need
Widget locker (for lock screen)
Super Status Bar (for status bar)
Go Launcher Pro (for home screen and launcher) not much experience with this but it seems pretty thorough in its themeing capabilities
Hopefully these can be viable alternatives for you ill add more if I think of any or of you have any other questions lemme know

+1 to what he said ^^^^ very detailed. But here is my shorter version, look into how to make a "Theme Choser" (or Theme Engine) theme, that is the most complete way to change how your phone look. Another alternative would be MIUI ROM, which is extremely customizable and dynamic when it comes to theming capability. Hope it helps

Yesss!!!
Kagedin, thank you you've just answered more questions than I needed.
I was not sure if I needed to root but this confirms it. I got very noob at the moment because of the breakaway of 2 years from android so sorry for the complex questions.
But your answer confirms that I need root. And I also came to know that if you want to make an Apex theme... these days its done on your desktop through Python or etc.
Things has changed a lot since the beginning of Android, back then it was root into your phone, take aspects of the UI, redesign them on your desktop and place them back into their original folder on the phone and you where good to go.
I will go with Widget locker, Super Status Bar, Go Launcher Pro and Apex for the moment but first of all root.
BIG THANK YOU!

I am a fan of Apex and Nova, the pro/prime keys are worth it if you can afford it
You can customize with gestures and themes without the pro keys but more gestures and transitions are available with a $4.00 purchase. Most themes work with ADW/Apex/Nova and sometimes GO.
I don't like GO though because it is a memory/resource hog.
This thread should probably have been posted in Themes and Apps.

Changing icons individually or as a pack, multiple docks, transition effects, size of icons can be changed, swipe action for individual icons, folders can be changed, several add ons suchs as unread counts, now comes the final question - did you use the pay or the free version. A lot of the really cool stuff is only available in a paid version and trust me it is lightning fast compared to touchwiz.
I'm using nova prime. I'm still learning, this is the first time I've ever used anything other than what was baked into whatever Rom I was using. My last phone was the s3 and Darth stalker had the Xperia launcher I think... I've been using touchwiz was the last month, I just didn't like the menu (app draw) key on the right side.

Well it looks like nova has been great for you. Even answered your question in the other thread for what you wanted. Say NOVA IS GREAT. SAY IT. LOL
BAD ASS NOTE 4
I tried it a few times. I'm with op can't see any real.benefits.
Only launcher that I used for more than 1 hour was the Aviate one.

Nova restore option is anoother HUGE plus
I love the back-up restore option with Nova prime that I can use to quickly restore all my short cuts and widgets. Even between devices. I would use for this alone.

So I'm trying nova launcher instead of Touchwiz. I honestly do not see what the fuss is. The only thing I like is the ability to move the app drawer button to the center of the dock. After that, I see no speed difference or awesome features.
I know most people seem to like it, but I just dont see it. Am I missing something?

OP you may want to try "Go Launcher EX" its more user friendly in my opinion. I love it because the them options and whatnot with it are endless.
I seriously love Nova launcher it's always been my go to and I've tried quite a few. I wish it was possible to pin action memos as a widget though. It's not enough to get me to stop using Nova, but damn that would be perfect if it was possible.
