Hello everyone, after reading several posts in the forums I'm still very confused.
This is the problem I got a new Galaxy GT-i9000t that came with version 2.1 update 1 with no root access.
I followed a guide to get root access and then another one to fix the 3 bottoms combo.
Before continuing let me add some info about me and my carrier. I live in Panama and I use CLARO which uses 1900 band, I have chekced several CLARO users and it says 1900.
When I finished the above(rooting and fixing the 3 bottom combo) steps I still had internet from my data plan. But after following a guide like this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1431596&page=2
I lost my ability to use my internet data plan , I can receive calls and make calls but I can’t surf the web .
I know my problem is the modem( that’s the only thing i have figure it out). Now my real question is what modem do I need to use. I’m looking at this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876391
But don’t have a single idea of which one should I use. Also checking this guide in case I decide to flash the modem: http://www.darkyrom.com/community/i...nstalling-a-new-modem-gingerbread-froyo.1960/
This are my current settings :
Firmware 2.3.6
Baseband Version I9000xxjvu
Kernel Version 2.6.35.7-i9000xxjvu-cl851880 se.infraei-22 #2
Build number gingerbread.xxjvu
Am I missing something?
p.d. sorry for typos english is not my nativa language

Your right, what a newbie I am in this things , I haven't updated the APN's. after doing it I got my internet back. But some how the "modem" I'm using is not so good.
You must check
Settings - Wireless - Mobile networks - Access Point Names
If blank: find settings at your carrier and add (menu - New apn)
If existing: tick to enable
Can also check your CSC: *#1234#
Alternatively:
MultiCSC OXA in your ROM is for Europe. Take a peek at samfirmware.com to find CSC for Panama, download and flash CSC using Odin/Heimdall.
Changing CSC WILL FACTORY RESET phone.
Smart to have backup of /efs (your IMEI) before flashing. Many guides to do this is available in XDA.

Hi all, im new to android and i recently purchased a samsung galaxy S. i come from htc windows mobile and i need help understanding the different components of ROM in the galaxy S/android.
right now i have
PDA: I9000XXJF3
Phone: I9000XXJF3
CSC: I9000XAJF3
basically, i dont really understand what are those things. Im assuming phone=modem/radio, and pda=ROM revision.
1.what is CSC?
when i downloaded a new ROM from samsung-firmware, there is only one file in it, which is PDA.
2.do i need all 3 components to ensure the phone is usable after flash?
3.can i mix and match any phone and csc file from different ROMs?
4.im trying to get my phone to work in china, is there any region specific PHONE or CSC file that i should use, or can i just use any Europian files and they will work automatically in china?
5.is there some kind of HSPL thing in android phones i need to take care of before flashing so i wont brick my phone?
i find them really complicated, in htc windows mobile phones, there are only 2 things to consider and they are straight forward. Radio ROM is what it is, Radio. and there is the ROM version, which is straight forward as well. and they can be mixed and matched as long as the phone model is the same. no region problems. can someone help me to understand this from a windows mobile user perspective please? thank you.
Hi
I'm newbee too - and it seems that we are on our own, since nobody here answers Q unless the Q is top dollar relevant :-(
I've f/w updated my Galaxy S Gt-i9000 twice.
I did it PRECISELY as described in the "how-to-doc" that U-ll find on Samsung-firmware. And YES; they say use PDA if there's only one file.
What I did, was looking carefully at the printed screens in the how-to-guide.
CSC: Language-something.
PDA: ...?
After fW update I "reset-to-factory". Don't know if thats needed. Maybe it resets original fw? Does it load settings/fw from ROOT.... Don't know; but would like to know if somebody would be so kind.
Kindly (but...)
I think the reason for no answers is that they have already been answered in the forum.
Frezore is right. Questions like that stay unanswered because they have been asked 100 times before. I'll make an faq thread tomorrow morning.
Basically:
CSC is country specific code. It's some app as well as settings for 3G network providers and things like that. However, as of now only russian and region independent CSCs are available with the newer ROMs. In order to get internet on your phone in china you'll have to enter the APN manually. Info like that varies per provider and its easily found using google.
The phone file is what you would call the radio rom.
The PDA is the ROM. The software/firmware. It include android and all the apps that get installed along with it like samsungs touchwiz and swype.
It is preferable to update all three at the same time, however, not always necessary. An outdated modem (phone) firmware might result in compatibility issues (although very unlikely) and old CSCs can cause problems if the apps are outdated or apn settings are wrong.
However, CSCs, phone and pda files ate always distributed in complete packages so there really isn't abig deal.
There is no such thing as HSPL. Firmwares on samsung phones are installed using Odin (samsung-firmwares.com).
If you factory reset (just like on the wimo phones) you'll revert to the original settings of the rom/firmware you currently have installed. To get your phone completely back to factory settings you'll have to flash the factory rom that came with your device.
FAQ thread tomorrow.

Terminal mode? It's a kind of Linux. Just download and install terminal software, there are plenty of them on Market.
Hello guys!
After getting this phone from a friend i have to return it to stock Froyo XXJPY, coming from MIUI.
I managed to get it back to XXJPY: PDA: I9000XXJPY
PHONE: I9000XXJPY
CSC: I9000XAJPY
Problem: I'm not getting any 3G signals!
And KIES isn't recognizing my phone as something i could flash to the next official update.
Can you guys help me out here? Im not a pro in flashing, though i can learn pretty quick.
<edit> i'm from the netherlands, on Vodafone. (if that matters)
Check your APN settings.
I live in the Netherlands and have a SGS from Vodafone to.
Do this:
"Instellingen -> draadloos en netwerken -> mobiele netwerken -> Namen toegangspunten"
Then press the menu key, en click "nieuwe apn"
You can find the settings here:
http://www.vodafone.nl/zakelijk/kla...n/Instellingen_per_toestel/?#settingslocation
Merk -> Samsung
Model -> i9000 Galaxy S (onderaan)
stel het toestel in voor: Internet op je mobiel
Then there is a small button at the bottom saying "Handmatig instellen? Toon mij de instellingen"
Click it, and there will be the settings you have to enter.
This worked for me too when i flashed using repartition.
Mathijs
PS: if you want to go to JS5 (XEN), here's the download link for ODIN & CWM:
http://www.androidworld.nl/forum/sa...-froyo-xwjs5-flashbaar-via-kies-odin-cwm.html
Okay, thanks!
But is was wondering... I used the EZrom to get back to a sort of stock rom to eventually flash jpy.. But i only did repartition with flashing EZROM... Not with XXJPY...
Is that where is has gone wrong?
Also...when connecting to kies, when i want to look if i have any updates, it tells me CSC: JPY (KOR)
I am not really familiar with this problem, and i haven't ever read or heard anything like this.
Okay, i followed your advise and flashed JS5.
Partial Succes!
I am getting a 3G signal, so that half of the problem is solved!
Now the KIES part:
KIES tells me I still can't update my phone to any future updates..(2.3??)
At Current firmware version it says:
PDA:JS5/ PHONE:JPY/ CSC:JS3 (KOR)
I believe that the CSC is the problem here...could it be?
When playing with roms, it sometimes happens that the productcode gets set to KOR.
I've had something like that ones, but my product code changed to XEE.
I just flashed a dutch firmware like you did, but i factory resetted, then my product code changed back.
So i would suggest you to do a factor reset.
However i'm not 100% sure if it will solve the problem.

I just did, no luck so far.
And it's only CSC on KIES that says; KOR
If anyone can shed some light on this matter?
PS:I want to give a HUGE shoutout to anyone here at XDA for providing the right tools to break free from the leash Samsung/HTC/SE etc. hold us on.

It is the CSC that Kies reads and knows whether to update or not. If you want to do it through kies you have to get the right CSC for your area.
You could try this
dial *#272*imei#*
put your imei in where it says imei. It can be found under the battery.
doing this will show your product code and may also give you the option to select a different one.

Flash one more time with Odin version of 2.3.5 XXJVS or JVT De-Odexed and it should work, don't worry its not gonna explode, these processes are always reversible!
I have seen more myriad cases that the installation was not a success the first time and they have to do it one more time over the first installation!
If this is helpful just hit the thanks button, alright?
Hello Andre
Congrats on the new phone!
You don't need to re-flash anything (Well... maybe 2.3.5 JVT anyway ). What you need to do is look up your mobile carrier's apn settings on the net. You will have to enter them manually and you will have your mobile data back.
Settings>Wireless & Network>Mobile networks>Access Point Names.
Follow that path, and that is where you will have to enter the carrier settings for internet and mms.

Dude,
I think you need configure your APN Settings for your GSM Provider
First you set date and time and country reboot phone.
or
You call your provide network say not working data they see you settings and help.
Does it work now? Have you checked you have the correct csc code. The easiest way maybe to download nitrality, and check which one you have and see if it is correct by looking it up either on google or on here. If you do need to change it, it will factory reset your phone (but its a new phone so that shouldn't be a problem )
You can also check your csc code by dialling this *#272*your imei number#

Maybe your APN is wrong.

To check APN
To check APN's you go to settings and goto wireless and networks then mobile networks and then access point names and your carrier should be setup in there if its not go here to find the settings http://ausdroid.net/apns/
A little help from a noob
Well, I've gotta start somewhere. Maybe someone can help push this out from here so more can see it, but I may have a fix that could help. I've have an Evo 4g Supersonic on CM7.2 that somehow lost its 3g data connectivity. Searching searching for APN settings, numerous calls and chats to Sprint (no help), it was finally a call to HTC that helped.
From CM7, I couldn't find a way to update my PRL and Profile. Essentially, those options are "Sense" and not on CM7, so I had to find a way to get to those settings.
Basically, I flashed a Stock ROM (5.07.651.1_Supersonic_Stock_Rooted_CPTB_v2.3-DEODEXED), updated PRL and Profile, then flashed back to my CM7 I backed up before I started this journey.
Works. All is well now. Hope this helps. I'll check back to answer questions if I can be of any more help.
Now, a disclaimer, I'm newish and/or limited in my understanding of how to toy with the Android system, so...as I've noted on many forums across the net, some people will push a "duh, why didn't you know that, noob" kind of approach. Well, go for it, but realize it's rare someone will get on a bike and know how to ride it. We all started somewhere. With that, please feel free to abbreviate, fix, and repost what I have here so this info gets out to the world. This is my FIRST post, so it's likely rife with mistakes. The intention is good.

well .... this is the same scenario with my GT-S5570i ...
Mobile data connection on my GT-S5570i with GB2.3.6 is working fine ...
but after upgraded to Jellyblast then MDC is not working ....
what I did was the change the CSC code ...
To change CSC code on your mobile ...
check your IMEI number by dial *#06# and write it down ...
(u can also check by go to setting > About phone > Status > IMEI )
after that dial *#272*YourIMEINumber# and you will see the multi CSC screen ... (if your ROM support multi CSC)
choose your country CSC and tap on install ....
phone will install and reboot itself ....
after that try your MDC again ....
hope that it should work ....
I rooted my phone yesterday and when my phone wouldn't boot up the rom I installed, I tried to reinstall the backup I had.
After that didn't work, I used odin to flash a stock ROMI downloaded on the internet and it is working now.
The stock rom I downloaded upgraded my phone from android 2.3.3 to 2.3.6. I don't know if that would make a difference.
So after this was all done, I realised I can't connect to 3g or any mobile network.
Why is this?
How can I fix it?
I live in Ireland so maybe it has something to do with the Stock ROM being from a different country?
Sorry, I am a noob at this kind of thing.
If anyone could help me, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

Hey,
The CSC (what country the rom is from) doesn't matter, I'm running a stock 2.3.6 rom from the UK even though I'm in New Zealand
Try first going into
Settings -> About Phone -> Status.
Scroll until you see IMEI. If this is odd (maybe XXs in the number code or its different), then that explains why your phone can't connect to any network. Maybe from a bad flash- there a tutorials on these forums on how to recover your IMEI.
Also in this menu check your signal status- whether it says "Connected" or "Disconnected" in Network Status or whatever.
Alternatively, go to
Settings -> Wireless and Network -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names.
In here are your APNs- the network "gateways" that your phone connects to for 3G and so on. Make sure these are configured correctly- if not, your provider's website should tell you how to set these up nicely.
Hope I helped
