superoneclick, clockworkmod... etc - LG Thrill 4G

ok so i've got my phone rooted with superoneclick, i can boot into recovery mode but have no clue what to do when i get in there. I already installed the doomed rom onto my external memory card but i don't know what to do with it from there. Also what do i use the terminal emulator for?
heres what i have on my phone at this moment, ROM manager, Chainfire3D, Terminal Emulator and SuperUser.
Thanks

seems like no one knows the answer to my problems or i'm just not asking them right... Can someone explain how to get the ROM zip file from the external card to actually be on the phone?

Ok go into cwm recover then go to install from sd card then it brings another menu pick which sd card you havbit on internal or external then select it then find the foder its in select it then select the file then select yes wait for it to flash then reboot device. Prior to that you wanna slect wipe data factory reset then yes and wipe cache partition then yes then advanced wipe dalvik and yes then proceed with above
Thrill 4g on O3D

thanks man, i'm trying to figure out how to scroll through the options in recovery now... doesn't seem like any buttons are working...
Edit: Nevermind found it, hoping this works!

...and now i've lost all my contacts and apps...

ok... retrieved most of my contacts from facebook, did like you said in the CWM but when it said "rebooting into CWM Recovery" it just rebooted to my home screen

Did youchve your acct sync with google you may be able to recover them that way
Thrill 4g on O3D

Losing your apps is normal if you read around in diff dev topics here you will see people are backing up apps with titanium backup and apps like that you just gotta ask diff questions now im sure since i didnt tell u to make a rom back up you didnt do that in cwm that way if you didnt like the rom you switched to you could have went back but you can install thrill stock rom and have it back to that again
Thrill 4g on O3D

I clicked "backup existing rom" but when I did the reset it deleted ROM Manager and I believe the backup also... superuser was still there but no apps were in it. Thanks for helping, sorry its going to be a lot of help...lol

No problem its a lot to learn but its not to hard to learn
Thrill 4g on O3D

ok so why is it i'm not rebooting into recovery mode to continue installation? it's just rebooting normally

You have cwm installed right? Power phone off hold 3d button& vol down press and hold power till lg boot animation shows then let go of all buttons. Cwm should boot in that go to backup restore and do a backup then go back to main menu factory reset wipe data then wipe cache partition then advanced wipe dalvik cache and battery stats then go back to main menu then install zip from sd card then install from sd card find folder its in then select it hit yes wait for it to install reboot and enjoy
Thrill 4g on O3D

ok when i go into recovery these are the only options i have.. i've clicked all of them and thats how i lost my contacts and what not but thats all it's done was delete stuff.

Thrill 4g on O3D

well that explains everything then! thanks, now i'm going to search through and see where i went wrong. I think it's something to do with the recovery.img but someone said i didn't need to do that cause i used superoneclick...

Look in dev section there is a 1 click method to install cwm use that then fallow the steps i had explained earlier remember to back up also before you do anything download titanium backup and back up ur apps and go into contacts and make a backup to sd card that way you can import them back to your next rom
Thrill 4g on O3D

Is it me or is shortfuse website down?? I've tried to root my phone using viperMOD and it failed to set the UID and GID to 0. I've been trying to download the latest superoneclick, but cannot get to the site. Any thoughts?? Currently running V21B if that helps.

You cant root v21b yet
Thrill 4g on O3D

ok i'm back to a new phone... i did everything you said but i guess my ROM zip was in the wrong location so i couldn't load it and had to shut it down before that step.

Ok so now you have cwm recovery? Use root explorer or es file manager to move the .zip to whatever folder you wanna use then flash it up

WANT TO RUN HERO? READ THIS FIRST
I understand that new people dont really know much about hero, and that is alright. They will learn to search and figure things out on their own, but i am a little frustrated with seeing this constantly in the hero ROM threads. " i am stuck in a bootloop, my phone stays on the htc screen"
THIS IS NOT A BOOTLOOP! A bootloop is when you see the hero with the little green android and then the HTC "flashing" logo. I will post a video of a bootloop in little bit, but in the meantime here are a few ways to fix a bootloop.
For a video of what a bootloop is, click on THIS IS A BOOTLOOP RIGHT BELOW THISTHIS IS A BOOTLOOP
1) wipe phone and wipe ext and reflash.
to wipe the phone boot into recovery and press alt+w or if running CMRecovery 1.3 or 1.4 you should be able to use the trackball and select the option that way. To wipe ext use these commands in either adb shell or recovery console... NOT IN TERMINAL!!!
This is how I installed without any problems:
: rename to update.zip (if you are running cm1.4 recovery you can just place the zip in the root of sd)
: place in the root of sd card
: shut off device
: boot into recovery
: wipe
: go to console and hit enter (you can also use adb shell)
(enter)
# mount -o rw /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /system/sd
# cd /system/sd
# rm -rf /system/sd/*
# reboot recovery
: now wipe again
: repair ext system
: flash
Enjoy!!

2) check to make sure you are running a PVT board. Cant remember right now if it is the three finger salute or power+camera. To do the three finger salute, boot holding the green button, menu, and the red button. At the top of the screen that shows up it will either say PVT or DVT.
3) redownload the .zip file for the rom you are trying to flash. Sometimes you may get a corrupt download or the transfer from computer to sd may go bad. A fresh download may help.
4) reformat your sd and recreate all partiitions usingparted in cyanogens 1.4 recovery image. It is one of the easiest ways to do things if you are not running linux.
5) and last but not least, if all else fails just go back to a stable cyan build or jf build.
Hope this helps everyone and cuts down on the questions junking up threads. I will bump this every now and then unless it gets stickied. Also expect edits to this for other questions that get asked. Before junking up threads try these options and SEARCH!!!

not all updates, always read the changelog for a ROM. if you are simply UPDATING to a NEWER version of the SAME ROM, you MIGHT NOT have to do all this. this is mostly for when you get a bootloop. if you are changing hero roms, i would say yes, do everything you can, wipe, wipe ext, and what not. this will help about the bootloop.
I use Hero-V1.5 by Drizzy and it does not state in change-log.

ok so what are you trying to do? go to a different Hero rom? if yes, then you need to wipe phone and ext, if updating from drizzy 1.4, i would say not to wipe, but if you get a bootloop wipe phone and try again.
please make this a sticky!!!! this a good info. hopefully if people search,it will help them out . great write up polosjr

Tell me what happens when you press home + power then alt + l when the screen comes up. .. and when that screen comes up does the g1 screen come up first? Cuz I think otherwise it might be a guaranteed brick :/
okay i gott itt to go to the menu. but i try to apply the v4.2.1 and it always aborts it =/
Try the Q&A forum next time.
I go to the menu. flash the 1.6 recovery image. Change Cyanogen to update. Try to flash it but it gets aborted
don't know about cy updates but it sounds like your may have a bad file. Have you installed this update before using the "same file"? if not you may try just redownloading the update.
really neeed helpp with this. Tried installing the v4.1.9999 and it still aborts
bummer. I'm not sure what all the prerequisites are for cy mods.. Hopefully someone else can jump in here to help ya :/
Think he may have aborted installation during the radio flash portion of the HTC archive.

That's not exactly the way it went for me the 2X I've done this, so maybe this is what happened...IDK?
I've had to reboot manually (Home+back) out of recovery following phase 1 of the flash to initiate the start the Radio flash portion. This may confuse some as it's not listed as a step.
Just to be sure, place fresh copies of dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721.zip and cm4.2.1 in /sdcard prior to doing this. Use an external card reader if necessary.
1. Get into recovery
2. Wipe (optional but recommended, problems=include step 2)
3. Flash dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721.zip
4. If phone does not reboot automatically, reboot manually (Home+back) out of recovery and release buttons immediately
5. Let Radio flash (you see the image of the box with the arrow and the eprom chip)
6. Wait for screen to go completely black then hold "Home" button until it reboots back to recovery console.
7. Flash CM4.2.1
I noticed 4.2.1 took an unusually long time to load on initial boot, so be patient.
If this has nothing to do with your issue, sorry for wasting your time. Hopefully this helps somebody eventually.

There are 2 things you could do, use cyans file, and make sure you flash the HTC image first, as his update file is a partial update without the google experience (read apps)
This is taken from Cyans OP in his thread and edited for you, please follow the instructions properly.
Note: You need cyanogens recovery image 1.4 or better for this process, as it lets you chose files named other than update.zip
Install instructions for an HTC Dream/ADP1/G1:
1- Perform a Backup......nandroid, etc (ignore since i don't suppose you have anything to backup at this moment)
2- Download: http://developer.htc.com/adp.html#s3 Android 1.6 Recovery Image. This isn't the type of recovery image we know. It's HTCs version of an update.zip
3- Download cyanogens ROM. http://n0rp.chemlab.org/android/update-cm-4.2.1-signed.zip
4- Mount your phone and place BOTH 1.6 Image and cyanogens ROM on your SD Card.
5- Reboot into recovery mode *Home+Power*
6- WIPE!!!! This will allow google apps to function, correctly.
7- Apply sdcard:choose zip *PICK dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721.zip* from the list
ALLOW IT TO INSTALL FIRST.....you will see the "unbox" image.........then it will automatically reboot HOLD HOME button while it reboots.
(ITS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU HOLD THE HOME BUTTON, BECAUSE IF IT THE HTC ROM BOOTS, YOU WILL HAVE TO RE-ROOT YOUR PHONE)
8- Apply sdcard:choose zip *Pick cm-4.2.1-signed.zip* from the list.
9- Reboot!
OR
download daveid's full update from http://www.megaupload.com/?d=80FXE36J or http://www.mediafire.com/?dnljdtndwnv
and just flash normally.
Oh and to mount your sd card to transfer the rom images to it from your computer when in recovery (Alt-X), use this command (in recovery, on your phone)
echo /dev/block/mmcblk0 > /sys/devices/platform/usb_mass_storage/lun0/file
Finally, as someone else mentioned, please post in the right section.
how did u get ur phone to go back to the menu because the same thing happened to me
Sorry for may bad english !
I have the same problem. After flash rom OTA 1.6 of HTC, now i lose the recovery cm-1.4.

When boot in recovery, it look like before hack root, we can't update the other file, exception "update.zip".
When i type "su" in terminal, it return "permission denied".
-I tried to update another rom but i didn't run.
-I tried to flash another recovery by Fastboot but not success.
-I tried to flash another SPL but not success.
-The last hope, i tried to re-hack root by DREAIMG.nbh but not success too.
Okay I had the same problem and know how to fix it.
1. Download 1.5 Cupcake here
2. Copy the file to the root of your SD and name it Update.zip
3. Boot recovery and press Alt + S to install Cupcake
4. Now that you`ve got Cupcake download Flashrec here
5. Make sure that you allow installing non market programs on your phone.
6. Open Flashrec after installing it and click backup recovery!! VERY IMPORTANT, didn`t do it the first time and it didn`t work.
7. After backup is finished you download the recovery given by the program
8. When the download is complete you select flash recovery.
9. Reboot, and flash your Custom Firmware again.
IMPORTANT!: All of the 1 click rooting procedures are putting the Flashrec.apk file and a recovery image on the SD card, installing Flashrec and then using it to flash the new recovery image. You WILL NOT have internal root access after this procedure (it only allows us external root access from recovery)
10. I installed the full version of 4.2.1 which was linked on the previous page of this thread, and it installed the right radio, spl and hboot.
So everything is normal again, thank god. Ow after i installed the full version of 4.2.1 it didn`t work but i had the recovery back and root so i installed the oldskool 4.1.1.1 and it works.
Good luck and this took me 5 hours to find out!

[Q] Bricked - Samsung Logo Repeat, Can't Fix by Stock Rom

Hi all,
My i9000 cannot boot successfully, it repeats the samasung logo again and again.
And when I try to re-flash the stock rom - 20110531_ZSJV5_2.3.3_ROOT_STOCK by ODIN
After reboot, it shows following Error:
E:failed to mount /data (File exists)
E:delete_data_files:Can't mount /data
your storage not prepared yet. please use UI menu for format and reboot action.
Media files copy failed
Click to collapse
Then it keeps repeating the samasung logo again and again.
Please help!!!!
Can you access the download screen (volume down + home + start) or CWM screen (volume up + home + start)?
If you can access the download screen, use Odin and download the stock Gingerbread from online (do google search), make sure you also have a PIT file like PIT 512 or something, and have the re-partition ticked, try that and see if it fixes the problem.
If you access CWM, maybe voodoo lag fix is on and didn't properly format the partitions.
Thanks
I have tried using ODIN 1.8 and I9000ZSJV6
But the problem still retain
The screen shoot :

You need to get a .pit file (512) and use repartition in Odin when you are flashing the original rom.
Yeah~I have used PIT512 and selected Re-partition, but problem still remain........
Damn ... it looks bad.
I have a suggestion.
Push a speedmod kernel with odin.
Enter recovery mode.
Convert the partitions to RFS (even if they are reported as such).
Redo the flashing of the original rom.
O...situation goes really bad
After I have flashed SPEEDMOD, I enter CWM
and try to convert to RFS, it said:
Can't mount /mnt/sdcard
Backup failed!
Then quit.
And I try to mount internal SD,
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblo0)
(No such file or directory)
Error mounting SDCARD:!
It looks like you have issues with the nand memory. I'm not sure 100% about it but it sounds like this.
In case your nand flash is dead, I really don't know what can you do ... there are few topics related to this issue. Check them out and see maybe is a solution somewhere.
don't use JV6, try flashing using JVQ, and don't use rooted versions, use a pure stock, try using Odin 1.7. It if can't mount, maybe there's a corrupt internal SD.
You may want to look at the stock rom vs an odin custom rom (like darkys resurection edition) and see if everything that that the custom has (minus the mods) is in there. I would get a mounting error for db_data from my stock rom (drove me nuts) because the stock roms did not update that and there for with a re partition it was missing.
I finally found another post on the CM7 forums that mentioned it so it could be an issue for your rom too?
If you determine which file it might be you can pull it from an earlier stock rom (one of them should have it).
You might even try flashing darky's. if it works then you know its a file issue and the phone is likely fine.
G
I flashed over 10 different roms with re-partition but nothing change...........
but luckily warranty should still cover, it is now in factory.....
Thanks All~
Similar problem: Phone stuck in boot up loop
Okay so about 2 months ago rooted and put a new rom on my vibrant. Last night I decided I wanted to go back to the original stock rom by restore my phone back to its original factory settings (at the time it made sense to me). I did this by turning the phone off, holding the volume buttons and power button until a menu came up where I selected wipe to factory setting. In doing this I cleared the rom I had on my phone and am now stuck in a loop where my phone keeps trying to turn itself on but has nothing to boot up. I am able to get to the menu that enables me to wipe my phone to factory setting etc but that hasnt helped all too much. I'm unable to mount my phone now on my mac in order to put a new rom on the sd and Oden does not seem to work for macs and I do not want to put a virtual machine on my computer but will if thats the only solution. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!
That doesn't wipe to factory settings if you had a custom rom. It just wipes the user areas so IF you had a stock rom it would be back like day 1 but with a custom rom its like day 1 of the custom rom.
Though something else happened here too.

Don't use a mac use Odin and do it on windows, download the stock jvq rom again except in windows and use the 512 pit file aswell. See if that works.

Also forgot to mention when using Odin in windows make sure you have the windows drivers by downloading Samsung kies. From the Samsung website.

How is old data still on the phone after wiping with TWRP & install of ROM?

Hi Everyone,
I recently installed the Elegancia ROM onto my bosses HTC Velocity 4G (please see [Q] Best way to flash the HTC Velocity 4G (Telstra) for the approach that I took to the task).
Before settling on the Blitz version of Elegancia I installed the Pegasus version, and when I booted into the phone for the first time (after installing Pegasus) there was no old data on it.
However I was surprised to learn, after installing Blitz ROM that my bosses data was all still on the phone; everything from his account settings, to his apps, to the picture of his wife on the front screen!
When installing both instances of the Elegancia ROM (e.g.: Pegasus and then Blitz) I did choose to install without wiping, however prior to loading Elegancia (on both occassions) I did perform a full wipe through TWRP which deleted the cache, etc...and supposedly returned the phone to 'factory defaults'.
How can my bosses old data still be on the phone along with the new Elegancia ROM? I have confirmed that the ROM installed by going into settings 'About Phone'!
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Davo

I just had the same problem with a Galaxy Note and TWRP. After a full wipe of system. cache, dalvik and data, all apps and settings were still on the phone. The number of pictures in the gallery was displayed, the pictures however were missing. Very strange behaviour.
Did somebody find out mote about that since the first post?
cheers,

As far as I know, a system wipe wipes the android system files, not documents. A "full wipe" would be manually erasing the entire internal SD card by enabling USB on your recovery and deleting everything you see through your file manager.

Unable to mount internal storage
Hi All,
I have since tried to wipe the phone again, and I think that I have now identified the issue -
Here is the procedure that I follow;
1). Boot into recovery
2). Start Team Win Recovery Project (v2.6.3.0)
3). Select Wipe
4). Select Advanced Wipe
Once the wipe proceeds I see the following message displayed, at the bottom (last lines):
E: Unable to mount '/emmc'
E: Unable to mount internal storage.
It seems like everything except the internal memory was wiped first time around!

Hi rignfool,
Thank you very much for this most helpful advice. Ironically I tried these instructions yesterday and Windows gave me the message 'Windows was unable to format...', however when I tried again today it worked! The only change that I can see is that I clicked on the button 'Restore Device Defaults' within the 'Format Removable Disk' dialog.
Here is a photo of the dialog before clicking on 'Restore Device Defaults'

[GUIDE] SIM-unlock your i9305

Hello guys (and girls) and welcome to (probably) my first guide
!! Be aware, I have tried the following procedure and am using S5 Elite Lite ROM by MaHo_66 !!
To start the unlocking procedure, first see if your device is actually sim-locked by inserting another sim-card from another provider and see if it asks for a code. If it asks, press on dismiss. Now, the actual steps:
Take a note of your CSC and MODEM with the help of Phone INFO.
Download from my GDrive I9305XXALI5_I9305EVRALI5.zip and copy it to either an USB OTG drive or to a MicroSD card (if you have one).
Make sure you have a custom recovery installed. Boot into it with the VOL UP+HOME+POWER button combination and make a nandroid backup of your current ROM. Make sure to do it on the MicroSD if you have one.
Go and do an advanced wipe and only wipe the following partitions: Cache, Dalvik Cache, Data and System.
Now install the zip file you previously copied on either an external USB OTG drive or on the MicroSD card.
While the rom is booting, search around on XDA for the aforementioned CSC code and a suitable modem for your BACKED UP rom.(The ZIP file I provided you will have changed the modem and CSC, so make sure you noted the CSC and modem before)
After the rom is done booting, skip the set-up wizard and the network lock screen. Now, go to the dialer and type *#197328640#
Here, go this way: [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > [3]Perso SHA256 OFF > and wait for around 30 seconds. If you see at the Network Lock screen 4 options, you are good to go.
Press on the menu button (device) and tap on Back. Then, choose [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ. After about 30 seconds, you should see PERSO_NV_INIT is SUCCESSFUL. From this point , you are unlocked. You can use any sim card in the device. If you have a third carrier sim card, test it out.
Reboot the phone and enjoy your unlocked phone. NOT SO FAST.
Reboot back to recovery and do an advanced wipe (the following partitions: Cache, Dalvik Cache, Data and System). Restore your nandroid backup now. Don't reboot the device to system, but go and flash the MODEM and CSC. Now, you are ready to reboot back to system and enjoy your KitKat or Lollipop ROM.

12.
Go to UMTS-COMMON-NV REBUILD and then tap Erase only Backup, then after it is done head back and tap on Make Back-up. You are all set now in case you restore the NV again by mistake, the simlock status will remain OFF.
The sim-unlocked devices do not really exist, they are just unlocked from the factory after a NV backup. If you restore the default NV, it simlocks it.

That's it. Now you are SIM UNLOCKED, have your device the way it was before and with a backed up NV in case something goes horribly wrong. Special thanks to @LucasBass for his thread, to RCS&RDS for their internet, and to Enel Energie Muntenia for not failing on me.
P.S. I didn't find the zip somewhere, so credits to @lamahgra for lamahgra-rom.v1.4-lite. All i did was download I9305XXALI5_I9305EVRA5_EVR.zip and extract&replace the system folder, the baseband.bin, boot.img and hidden.img and edit CSCVersion.txt and SW_Configuration.xml.
Must try that..
How can I do step 12 after I've restored my lollipop rom?
@Vvaheed, @singhdhirendra28, @Geofftey, @ZoranAncev, @newstead01, @senpdy:
Ladies & gentlemen, please be aware that this thread is for the Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE (aka GT-i9305). If you posted due to post #4 please be aware that the account of the user who posted that is already disabled.
I don't intend to ask why you need the codes or ouvertly publish IMEI's.
Thread cleaned!
Be aware that if you share your IMEI this can be used by other users and your device turns into a ded piece of hardware.
NEVER SHOW YOUR IMEI!
did not work for me
i just tried this now, it did not work for me
