My friend got a LG Thrill 4G right before Christmas. He (John) or I(Ryan) have never owned an Android device, how ever I stalk XDA and we have a mutual friend(Simon) who is knowledgeable on the subject. I had him root it with super 1 click and he used 1 click CWMR. I had him flash Cyanogenmod 7 nightly 9 and everything was ok. Latter I flashed nightly 14 using the same method and now it boots up when you put the battery in. I gave it to our mutual friend and apparently /system is gone. I have a nandroid backup of the stock ROM + root but cannot get into recovery. The knowledgeable friend tried the unbrick method and it fails halfway. Can it be replaced under warranty and if so what story should I tell them.
Thanks,
Ryan

You could try bin flashing the thrill stock rom using lgflashtool
Thrill 4g on O3D
Did you try reflashing again?

/system being empty shouldn't be a problem, other than you'll have to reflash. I usually format /system before I flash a new ROM anyway so it shouldn't be bricked because of that.

I think I found my issue, I have lately been trying to 'Flash Current ROM'.
It had seemed that my Thrill 4G didn't save a backup in the ClockworkMod folder.
I had done some research and found out this might be my problem for not paying attention.
So is there a way I can flash ClockworkMod for Thrill 4G without having to use an LGE Optimus V version?
Did you look in the development section? There's a huge thread on clockworkmod recovery and flashing.
You can't use the Clockworkmod app.

There is currently no cwm for the Thrill. We only have a partially ported version. Which works well enough on its own for flashing directly from recovery. It still has a lot of quirks but its enough for the basics.

Cool. Could I maybe get this? Or could you assist me?
I tried the Clockwork Mod thing in Android Development LG Thrill.
I'm an older adb user and am familiar with it. But that was WAY difficult.
Could you give me a link or an easy way to use CWM for Thrill?

I have no clue how to work ADB. The last time I used it was when HTC Hero came out.
I'd appreciate so much and could try and assist you in any way.

You need cwm to use rom manager. They're a pair. If you pm me your msn I can help you get cwm installed.
Once you have cwm Power off the phone. Then hold these three buttons simultaneously: VOLUME DOWN+3D+POWER. As soon as the phone starts to power on release the POWER button only. Hold the volume down+3D buttons until cwm boots up. From there backing up/restoring and flashing zips is fairly straight forward. Most rom threads have cwm instructions for flashing.

Guys,
Tried to install the GB on THrill and it was installed successfully and only was getting 3G speeds. In the process of installing GB, there is a part where we need to update the baseband to something and since I didn't like it, I reverted back, But I am getting only Edge where ever I am going. Earlier I get H and H+ on AT&T. Anyone knows where I can get the baseband file for LG Thrill so that I can install.
Any advice is appreciated as well.
Guys one of our guys found the baseband for LG Thrill. Please check the post

Great Thanks to him..
Try installing thriller only thing I can suggest, I have gave my warning and said wait for dev supported gb. When I had the Atrix installing the leaked gb caused some bricks and unforseen complications, like not being able to revert back.

No luck, ended up just flashing the tot file

Alright, for some reason I can't get lgnpst to install on my pc, so I'm stuck at the moment. If someone would be so kind as to get a stock rooted zv8 nandroid I could flash that would be absolutely wonderful. Please someone?
I am generally new (noob) if you will to dev for androids. I am rooted, over clocked, add free and other thing but what I haven't tried yet is getting new roms, kernels, etc. I would like to learn these functions so I can upgrade my phone. Does anyone have and material, websites, etc. on flashing or installing different roms that I.can look over to learn about the process and how to do it exactly? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I can't imagine how your over clocked if u haven't flashed a different kernel. Anyways look around the general section, you may have to dig alittle but all the info your looking for is here.

You can use stock kernel and overclock at the same time.
I finally tried it last night but I.got stuck in a loop I believe.. I tried flashing thriller.. lucky I installed cwm recovery and had backed up my last phone. When I flash a.new Rom do I have to return the phone to factory settings? The tutorial I was using was for the old version on cwm recovery and didn't translate to the new one so I basically had to make an educated guess.
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda app-developers app
This is exactly what I did. I installed cwm recovery. I.backed up my phone. I downloaded the thriller zip. Connected my.phone to computer and cut and pasted the thriller zip folder onto my SD card. I booted in cwm recovery. And clicked install from SD I found the thriller Rom and downloaded it. Once it was done I clicked re booted normally and when I did this it only showed a bunch of colors coming.g together into and x and did that for 10 minutes until I booted into cwm recovery again and restored from my latest back up. Anything I did wrong or didn't do? Any help would be appreciated.

Extremely unnecessary wipes.
Factory reset does these three things.
Wipes /data
Wipes /cache
Wiping dalvik-cache is useless in a factory reset as "dalvik-cache" is stored in "/data".
OK so from your experience am I doing it right except for the factory wipe? Or are the wipes unnecessary? Thanks for the print responses too!
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda app-developers app
Its important to know what version software your running. I believe the thriller rom only works on android software version 2.2 aka froyo. If your phone is running 2.3 gingerbread that would be the reason why the rom didn't work. Check in settings>aboutthisphone>androidversion to see which software you've got. I'm relatively new to all this also but I hope I helped

I'd suggest always doing a wipe when going from ROM to ROM.
This is how I do my wipes.
NANDROID current ROM
Flash new ROM
If I even see one force close, I factory reset.
@lestat.. but when I do wipe it.. doesn't it wipe the SD card too? Like when I hit factory settings does it clear SD as well?

I'm not sure on that as I always use ClockworkMod to factory reset.
It doesn't touch your SDcard.

You'll have to try the ROMs for yourself. I can't say for myself as a dev.
I personally like thrill seeker. The original developer had to give up on it because he's been busy, but another dev (Bdadd34) has picked it up and is continuing to work on it. I like it because its stable and very simple to flash and I don't have to flash to a different baseband (which I've never tried). Also from reading on here for a while I know lestat's acidhazard rom is a favorite among most not only for the thrill here in the US, but also for a lot O3D users. His is a rom kitchen so you pretty much build the rom with features you want. its still a little over my head but lestat has a great reputation on here for being super helpful. I'm sure he'd explain it much better or just check out his website which I'm sure a link is in the post for his rom.
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda premium
I'm using Dark's acidhazard rom with acura's beast 1.3 extreme low voltage kernel. I have no complaints and the support from dark is incredible. I'm on v20p too and I haven't experienced any ghost calls yet. *knocks on wood* I would definitely recommend acid hazard..
