Hey,
I've asked myself if it's possible to flash any Gingerbread rom,Cyanogenmod, or the official one (from the 3G Version) to the Wifi-only G-Tab P1010?
Has anybody already done it and if what are your experiences?
Greetings
Sorry for spelling mistakes.
My guess is no...
Wifi Tab has down-graded hardware which is not competible with 3G Tabs.
I know, but shouldn't this problem mainly effects drivers, because even with the downgraded CPU/GPU it is still more powerful than a Nook Color, for example and Cyanogen is running on this one.
No. Its definitely impossible to sucessfully flash roms for P1000 on P1010 period. Of course in the future we will have custom roms for Wifi version but not now.

Thanks Nabu,
but do you or anybody else know something about an official release of Gingerbread to the Wifi-Version, I'm mean Samsung just annouced these updates for Galaxy Tab, does this mean both ones or only the p1000?
If anybodys knows something or has a link, post it.
Hello, I also have a Galaxy Tab Wifi Only and would like to know if anyone is working on a rom or any other kind of upgrade from the original 2.2.1 to a 2.3.x firmware.
Another thing is that I have installed KIES in my PC but it doesn't recognize my Tab and can't find the drivers anywhere.
I'm assuming this Tab in not upgradeable to 3.x right?
If anyone has any info its really appreciated.
Thanks

Ok do not.... DO NOT try to flash your GT-P1010 wifi only tab with anything else other than what a Dev says so, and I would wait a few more weeks as there is a honeycomb rom in the works at the moment but its not official yet and nothing ready even to try, but it will if it is possible (which think will not be too much of an issue) be posted in the Android Development threads, so keep an eye out there.
but let me stress right now, you can only root your device and over clock it.. thats just about it for now PLEASE DO NOT TRY anything else for now.
Hello xda-developers,
I am a noob once again in desperate need on guidence on my new device...
i have had iPhones since the very First ever iPhone so recently when i decided to sell my iPhone 4S and my iPad 2 to buy 1 device the Samsung Galaxy Note i was making a huge risk as i have never used anything other than ios but i made the risk and couldnt be happyier,
Now onto the more serious part on why i have created this thead...i need assistance on how to go about rooting my device
It's a Brand New Samsung Galaxy Note White Euro model, i wanted uk but couldnt find it in stock anywhere and had to order online, i think it came from germany as when i checked the tracking thats were it was dispatched from,
I have been doing alot of reading on these forums and others around the internet and i think i have it right but because my model might be a germany handset but dontknow for sure from what i can tell it has
baseband version N7000XXLA4
kernal version N7000XXLA6
from what i can sorta understand because its on N7000XXLA6 it cannot be rooted direcly and needs to be downgraded to a lower firmware? also is the kernal version the firmware version?
sorry for the noobish talk i wanna get this right as i dont wanna damaged my new device...do i need to downgrade my firmware to be able to root my device?
my plan is to once offical ics comes out to have offical ics installed then root the device then remove all the bloatware from it and make it original pure clean ics kinda like the nexus no samsung crap on it but have root access for extra features like gamepad support like ps3 controllers and other features.
i have tryed to work out the best thing to do so far i am stuck with thinking my device cant be directly rooted and i dont wanna jump in a fiquire out the hard way as iknow rooting isnt as easy and jailbreaking.
i can't wait to hear feedback and help tips and tricks from the community and also very big thanks in advance for taking te time to read this

Your Rom is too new to be rooted directly, you got that right. Go to this thread and download any Rom older than N7000DXKL3 (I prefer N7000XXKK9, it's easily rooted using zergrush method, but it's your choice, of course). Then you can proceed with flashing your downloaded Rom via PC Odin (detailed instructions with pictures in the said thread).
Then visit this thread for instructions on rooting your Rom (find 'Method 2: Root + CWM recovery' and follow it to the letter).
Once you're rooted, you can either upgrade to the latest stock Rom and keep your root, or flash any of the custom Roms available in the Dev section.
Good luck.
u can also go to youtube n refer ashwin tutorial how to root...it will help u a lot coz u can see n know what u doing...follow exactly teh instruction n u will not face any problem..happy rooting...
i give the link to help u save time..

Hello.
I recently got an Orange branded Galaxy S I9000 (baseband I9000BVJV3 and Android 2.3.5). I am wanting to get CM9 installed on it but first I obviously require a root. A lot of the roots I have seen around are for different baseband versions to this phone, though I don't know if this makes any difference. If anyone know a way I could root this phone I would be grateful if you could help me out a little and post it
Thanks!

Mate, if you go onto the android dev forum for this handset you can get a full write up on how to root, backup your efs/nv data, and then how to flash a new rom (eg pandoriam, ripper, rxtreme, wanam etc) if you can't find something then search the forum for the answer. It should all be thsre , good luck!!

But can u at least answer this for me is the GT 19305T the same as I9305? If so i already have toolkit but the first thing asks me for my build which could be 11,12,13,14. idk which one cant find the last letters in system info
Yes the "T" in the name is just the Telstra branding, if you follow ausdims rooting thread you will be fine

Thank you
The 'T' in the model number isn't branding. The phone is actually slightly different.
I have a friend who works for Telecom here in NZ and they also sell the I9305T.
He said it is optimised for use on Telecom's network (and obviously Telstra's too) it uses different modems and the antenna is different inside the phone.
They do however use the same ROMs and firmware. Anything intended for the I9305 will also work the same on the I9305T, except modems.

Hi all,
I have a question about rooting, i followed the ausdim rooting guide and installed triangleaway but system still shows modified. Anyway, Is there a ways not to use CWM recovery and use stock recovery? how can i flash stock recovery and keep root? and if i want to update to 4.1.2, can i do OTA without losing root? Thanking you in advance

Hello everyone!
New to this forum and new to Android phone. I have searched the whole forum and read through the dev-sections. Also did searches on multiple sites and through searchengines to find out what device model to use in the ToolKit...didn't find any confirming answer to my question.
As I have no posts from before, I couldn't write this in the dev-section, so I chose the thread that was closest to what I was looking for.
Question: What is the correct device model to choose in the ToolKit (I have version 7.0.0).
Information from my "about section"...
Phone: Samsung Galaxy SIII 4G
Model: GT-I9305
Android-version: 4.1.1
Build: JRO03C.I9305XXALK5
Operator: Telenor (Norway)
The options I lean towards since the only choice showing 4G, is number 21 (International 4G).
Problem is that it says it's GT-I9305N and not GT-I9305. It also says (Build JRO03C ALIA) and that does not match to my build either.
Then I look at the (International LTE), which says (GT-I9305)...which is ok.
And then number 14, which says (Build JRO03C ALK5), which is the same as mine...but it doesn't say 4G, which I have.
It might sound silly, but I really dont want to make the wrong choice here and end up having a phone that either "does not work at all"
or "does not work as it should". And before anyone says that I then should just leave it alone, my only intention at this point is to let
my anti-virus get root-access, so that the firewall works and the anti-theft works.
Hope anyone can be of help and thanks in advance.

Ok, so I rooted my device yesterday after reading through like 10 more threads...just took a chance, thought to myself "guts and glory" and went for it..went well =) I chose option 14 the build was the same as mine and it worked like a charm.
I am still left with a few quesitons though...might not be relevant to the thread anymore...
Does the rooting share the same build-match requirement as the flashing of a new operatingsystem?
How do I uninstall apps that were preinstalled on an operatorlocked phone?
Anders - Norway
I think you should look for app in app store, Root App delete or something like that. Then search for you operator apps/files and remove.

1. Bootloader is allready unlocked
2.For how to root look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2255190&highlight=how+to+root
3. Flash custom recovery, would advice this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxZf39vI0Lc. Download the .tar.md5 and flash with Odin in PDA.
4. Go to the CM thread and download the latest nightly and Gapps (Google apps) and place on the sdcard.
5. Go in recovery and wipe cache, dalvik cache, format system and data factory reset and then flash the CM rom and Gapps right after another without rebooting, reboot and you`re done.
hi
hello does it matter that it's a different usb cable, its of htc because the one i got with the phone doesnt seem recognise my phone on the pc
thanks
Is it better to update (to current) android version?
Or is there ANY practical sense to ROOT at lower level android v. Then apply OS mainframe.. YDVTY
So there is threads where it shows cf auto root works for all g800f but the build number is different. if im afraid that ill brick my phone trying to root it. Im newbie for this things so if something goes wrong i dont know what to do. Im from bulgaria and my phones warranty expired this month so i decided to root it mostly to use lucky patcher. If someone can make it clear if its ok to do that when build numbers are not matching ill be happy waiting for someone to enlighten me and thanks for the help i appreciate that
Well my experience says that the build number does not matter. You have to choose only the right android version thats it.
I understand you but there is explainings how to root g800f with 4.4.2 and I saw a thread about rooting g800m with 5.1.1 there is not for g800f...
