For the life of me, I can not find this app. Google search is letting me down, for once.
I want to be able to force an app to run at a lower resolution, mainly for performance reasons since some apps aren't very fast at the 2560x1600 resolution of this tablet.
Also curious if the app can help with apps that don't scale to full-screen, like Let's Golf 3 that is stuck in a little 800x480 section of the screen.

You can use wm in a terminal. Search for that.
Will this actually improve performance? Or will it make no difference because the physical number of pixels that need to be shifted around is the same?

It will be down-scaling the image, while it does improve render performance, its not the same as running is nativley at a lower reolution. Same as what ms is doing to the xbox one...
Hey Guys,

Thanks buddy
nice review mate, any chance of comparing screen brightness with s5 and note 3? bith auto brightness and manual 100 percent brightness
really a great review...this do confirm that the battery is really good...and the phone is really amazing....the question now is "white vs black" what you think?
Man,,i so want an exynos version..

Unlike the previous Ex chips that did not make much of a difference, the 5433 is far superior over the 805, especially CPU calculations. The Ex chip would be great for emulators like higher end MAME games and PSP.

Manual brightess is 300nit as usual, 480 nit in auto-mode under sunlight with full white image displayed, about 700 nit with a tiny white image measured.

Yeah i can almost see the difference in performance between exynos and SD even in the reviews...if we can spot that in a review then in real life it ll be more obvious..
Sucks for me..this is the first time my country is getting a snapdragon edition..guess i ll have to look forward to importing one here.
For those of you that already have your handsets, how has your experience been with the performance of 3D games and more intensive emulators? Have there been any games that have shown noticeable choppiness or sluggishness?
Edit: I read in another thread that Real Racing is giving Snapdragon owners problems. Also - I'm a bit curious as to how PPSSPP is treating people.
I have no issues running epsxe with open gl and all setting at maximum. Playing ff9 atm. Emulators shouldn't be an issue.
I just play Asphalt 8 on my Note 4 Exynos and it gets around 60fps at max settings.
I try few 3D games in my Exynos N910C include Real Racing 3 and Death Trigger 2. So far so great. No issue.

Could you post gamebench prints of the performance on some games?
Another gamebench video (exynos)
My device is finally here and it performs great (Exynos - C version)! But it gets warm (just warm no hot) fast and the throttle is very strong!! My Antutu after playing minion rush for 10 minutes was 35k and after a lot of gaming my GFX T-rex on-screen was 8 and off screen was 16. With the phone unused I got 25 and 37 fps for each of them. It is hot here (28C = 82F) but this throttle is too powerful! I'd rather have the phone getting hotter with better performance. Don't know if that would be possible.
The Galaxy Note 4 has a terrible 3d performance, i imagine it is because it is rendering at 1440, my HTC One M7 did far better at 1080. A few games that are jittery messes are anything GTA and also Gangstar, not impressed at all. Perhaps somebody will hack it so that it renders at a lower resolution, because really the snapdragon 805 is not up to intense 3d games at native resolution.
I have better gaming experience in Asphalt 8 with the Note 4 Exynos+1440p than with my Note 3 Qualcomm+1080p.

Yes same for me too. I really impressed with exynos gaming performance asphalt 8 is just 60 fps all the time it was like 30 or something on my quallcom note 3

I'm using NOMone Resolution Changer to set display to 1080p to play games. When you change the resolution everything looks wrong (big icons and etc) but the games are actually perfect but less pixels to push so better performance. If you are rooted and mind gaming performance, this is a must have.
Just curious - since this is the one thing that might make me change my mind about not rooting my phone - Does NOMone Resolution Changer know to automatically change the resolution only when a game is specifically opened? Or do you need to change the resolution first - and then start the game?
For the guy saying that GTA is stuttery.. its nothing to do with the resolution. Its all to do with heat and the Samsung DVFS voltage and frequency control.
With DVFS enabled after a few mins of GTA it slows down a little bit and starts to get stuttery because it throttles too easy and underclocks the CPU and GPU by about half.
If your rooted and disable DVFS you get the full GPU and CPU speed in games like GTA vice city and its extremely fluid.

Second option unfortunately. If you find an application that does that, please tell me. I didn't look for it though as NOMone is working great and I'm a bit afraid of messing with the resolution too much.
Just got myself an exynos note 4. Very nice phone but aside from a little touchwiz stutter, games such as real racing 3 and clash of clans stutter. My nexus 4 ran them fine. Did a quick antutu benchmark to see whats up and this is what i got without flight mode on. What do you think? Benchmarks say my phone should handle them with ease but thats not the case. Anyone with a solution?

Probably some rogue app you got running. Reset like he said or restart. No stutter on this old games so no fix required. Emulators have been good tho getting over 30fps in a few n64 games mupen64 that have tried, dolphin still not the best speed. DraStic was made for the note line. Runs awesome with each game I have.
Has to be coc related. I read a few reviews on the play store from note 4 users who have seen this as well. Much more demanding games are running great so ill just wait on an update.

Hello, i come from Indonesia [emoji1]
May I ask a question, I know that xperia z has adreno 320 GPU, that clocked max 400 mhz, it seems this GPU is one of the best..
I use official 5.1.1, and I have used from 4.1 to 5.1, why game line let's get rich is seems bit laggy, especially when a little hot?
Any one can improve the graphics?
My brother uses on android one that use mediatek, it's fine to play this game [emoji25] ..

Didn't encounter such problems. There are occasional lags here and there, but its mostly because of game is self(crappy coding, lack of optimization, or use loots of totally useless light/shadow effects to hide bad models and textures).
But on my XZ I have no real problem with that, I tried most of games, Real Racing 3 load few years and after that it lag here and there, but its playable.
Even if I dont like PC Minecraft, MC pocked edition is my only paid game that bought and with everything on high its work really nice.
Did you tried changing GPU/CPU settings i Programmer Options in settings? (Graphi Acceleration/force GPU etc)
And yes, its gonna be hot as hell, my record is 78*C after that its FC most of apps, and when it reach more it restart phone... On summer in Spain I could play games maybe for 20min because I literally could not hold my own phone in hands xD
Yeah, maybe software optimization, but I think it's still cpu or gpu problem, I stated that android one that has mediatek with same clock gpu 400 mhz, can run this games so smooth ?..

But it if I know good Android One devices don't have FHD display. If you want better perfomance change resolution to 1280x720 and DPI to 320.
I recommend 360-380, after almost 5 years of playing with DPI on every device, 360 looks best on XZ, not that big as stock 480 and still not that small to squeeze face to screen to read something.
But to be honest changing DPI dont give anything in terms of performance, unlike resolution...
For changing resoultion I recommend this app(root of course is must have):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nomone.resolution_changer&hl
Didnt had any bootloop with it.
But be warned that changing res can mess your app. Its best to use after fresh installation OR after reseting apps/games settings.
Also its can mess soft keys(bottom nav buttons) and Stock Launcher. So its better to use custom one(I recommend Aviate launcher. clean, fast and with nice category tab).
I will try change resolution n DPI, let's see what it goes..
Thanks for your answer ?

I bought this phone in the amazon deal a month ago and went directly to marshmallow in the first day.
The problem is I've noticed a lot of stutter from the get go in games like asphalt 8 and dead trigger 2 with no apps opened in the background, I even wipe the cache partition and factory reset the phone to not avail. My brothers nexus 5 runs asphalt 8 flawlessly and its on marshmallow so, whats wrong?.

honestly with no kernel mods the phone looks absolutely pitiful when it comes to graphics, animations, etc as for those games idk maybe try lowering settings I don't really have much experience in the way of phone gaming. Though the N6 is pushing more pixels with 1440x2560 vs 1080x1920 of the N5. N6 you have could also be thermal throttling. The kernel also underclocks as the battery gets lower down to a measly 1.5ghz 2 cores only and 300mhz graphics at 15% battery, down from 2.6ghz x4 cores and 600mhz graphics. Some things to think about until someone else comes back with some first hand feedback.

The resolution is a strange thing on the N6. My website is displaying the innerWiidth and -Height as 600 x 891. And that with a dpi of 384. When I change the dpi to Google's default, it is worse.
I think android and apps do not support the full resolution 1440 x 2560.

The stutter is right at the beginning of gaming not after gaming sessions.
It is pushing more pixel but, it has a more powerful gpu, check the review of this phone on gsmarena, go to the oncreen gpu benchmark, the performance against the xperia z3 (adreno 330) is very similar.
Lets say the adreno 420 gpu is not capable of pushing those many pixel, even then, my problem is heavy stuttering not average low fps.
Edit: Just reduced the settings in asphalt 8 from high to very low, same stuttering issue now with really low graphics.

lack of game optimization or thermal throttle might be the culprit, try to use gamebench and see the gpu utilization.
change the governor/scheduler to ondemand/deadline, you'll see an improvement

oh.. yea, you need root to be able to adjust governor/scheduler. but, its too bad, as other stock users report the same thing with certain games.

About 390. That's why I am using 384, because 384 dpi sets the N6 in tablet mode.
(N6 screen 2560 x 1440 pixels or 4.90 x 2.76 inches.)

Well, I thought the stutter in games happen because for some reason the OS, the API, or whatever refuses to use the resources available when heavy apps (3d games) are running, then I expected the same results when another kind of similar heavy lifting was needed (3d benchmarks) , I was wrong.

I find that I can get rid of stuttering by changing the way the CPU works. I actually have never seen it stutter at all, considering that I change how the CPU works every single boot up. it just takes some time playing with the different governors and schedulers available. I use ondemand/deadline for example. anyways, yea, benchmarks don't really show stuttering
When i had the phone on lolipop i never had stutter issues just bad battery life. It might be marshmallow related .
