I've downloaded and tried SuperOneClick 2.2 and 2.3. I'm really wanting to root my Lg Thrill but it just isn't cooperating.
I have my phone on usb debugging and unknown sources is checked! I've tried starting up SuperOneClick before and after plugging in my phone. Each and every time I get the same error:
"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application"
I read in another thread that this could be caused by registry errors so I did what I could to fix any that I had. This has not worked either. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...
EDIT: I finally got it to root... mods please delete this post. Thanks.
Can you post how you figured out the problem?
I may start soon, would like to prepare for any possible predicament.
Thanks
The way I got it to work was installing the latest microsoft .net framework for my computer. I'm using an older laptop and it had recently been wiped clean so that I could do a fresh install. I forgot about about reinstalling all the microsoft garbage onto this computer Once I installed the new .NET framework, the superoneclick worked like a charm. Finally got all the bloatware off and even without a ROM this phone runs MUCH MUCH better than it did before.

Hi,
I have spent the last 6 hours trying to downgrade my 2.05 phone to 1.31.
Gold card, hack for legend, etc all works and went by smoothly. The major bump is getting the damn 1.31 to install. I keep getting error 171 and 170 saying there is a USB error; connect cable. I am running 32bit Windows 7.
- I have downloaded the RUU twice, it is the right size and works.
- I have tried the unplug/replug/no unplug and executing the RUU but it fails and gives the 170/171 error again.
- I have downloaded the whole SDK/Eclipse/USB driver and tried using them instead for ADB
- I have tried updating through HBOOT but getting error 170 again
- I have (this is getting repetitive) tried the unRevoked universal HBOOT usb driver but no success
- I tried installing HTCSync drivers but fail once again
- I have done countless reboots of both the computer and phone between drivers, correctly uninstalled them with device manager, etc
I don't know what else to do and noticed a ton of people had the same issue but solved it using with the above steps. None works for me.
Any ideas? I'll donate beer money at some future date if this can be sorted out. I need to root and get Froyo cos its just too slow right now.
Believe it or not, it is upgrading now! To whoever has the same problem, just follow the above steps, spend six hours scratching your head, keep the phone over 30%, and there you go. No idea why it worked! Case closed.
i had to go through similar experience! usb is recognized without any trouble when the rooting is done through linux / mac
Yeah it's weird, doesn't seem to be any logic to it. I got it all working now anyways and running froyo with 767 MHz overclock. After figuring out how yo use rom manager, clockwork flash and getting gapps on there I am never returning to sense. Stock android is just so much more streamlined, fast, and no-frills. I even like the keyboard better. Yay.
Hi, i cannot use Galaxy S I9000 One-Click Root program. Always getting this error. i already install net framework:
Im also getting same error while running one root...can anybody help me or suggest an alternative?
I used SuperOneClick root...I'm not sure if this is what you're referring to, or if they're the same, but one thing some don't know is that to root you must
- Enabled USB debugging
- Connect USB Cable, but DO NOT MOUNT SD CARD
Hopefully, one of those do the trick. If not, you may want to try something like Z4root.
Porblem solved, was clicking on the wrong file. Clicked on root.bat and everything ok. I tried using superoneclick but it keeps on looping. Any idead why it does that?
Hey guys, trying to root my optimus 2x but super one click is coming up with an error: "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application and root." and i've ran z4root, it rebooted, thought it had worked but had no conformation, downloaded root tools, tried to run block ads but it tells me it's unable to mount, read / write.. I've put the phone is usb debugging mode e.t.c.
Can anyone help? :'(
Cheers guys,

Cheers guys,

Bump.
Anyone?
Tried to disable AV on the computers ? As you get exception failure in the app, theres surely something on the computer that is causing this (?)
First of all, just wanted to say that this is a fantastic forum and resource!
I've got a Captivate with 2.2 Froyo (build FROYO.UCKB1) on AT&T, and so far I haven't been able to root. I've followed the wiki and new users guide without having much success. It seems like Samsung or AT&T have introduced some extra barriers to rooting(?)
I initially tried dropping an update.zip tool into my /sdcard folder and rebooting. The error I received was "E:signature verification failed"
After that I tried using ADB to replace the /system/recovery file, but no luck.
So I also tried the SuperOneClick application, using VirtualBox to load a Windows XP guest (I'm running OS X Lion). Unfortunately, the phone is disabled in the list of USB devices. I tried adding it to a filter in Preferences->Ports->USB. SuperOneClick freezes on the "Waiting for device" part.
Has anyone had the same issues?
Hi there, I'm new here. Did alot of reading on rooting etc. Very helpfull.
I basically downloaded the latest version of Samsung Kies today (for future updates), but the program will not startup. I uninstalled/reinstalled a couple of times but after I double click on the icon, windows (7) loads for a couple of seconds and then nothing happens.
After like 2 minutes or so something like a start screen appears out of the blue and disappears after another 2 minutes. Nothing happens after that.
In the task manager Kies and KiesTrayAgent appear in the processes list (not in the application list) though.
I tried to run them both (and even the ConnectionManager that pops up on it's own after I try to open Kies) as admin AND in compatibility (hope I spelled that right) mode but that doesn't work. When I select the ConnectionManager to run as admin only and then try to open Kies, the following appears:
http ://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y107/Ismarovic/error.jpg (can't post images yet, remove gap after the http in the link and paste)
I tried searching everywhere, but I just can not find a solution anywhere.
Can anyone help?
Sorry for the bad English.
Cheers!
edit: I do have a Note btw, that's why I posted here.
Anyone please?
Thanks!
What version of Kies are you using?? Try another version(Maybe one step down to latest).
Try opening the software without connecting the phone...

SAMSUNG Kies v2.2.0.12014_18_8 is the latest version. I tried installing previous versions and then I get a Runtime Error display or something.
I never tried opening Kies with my Note connected to the computer.

Then give it a shot with your note connected!! (That wont make much of a difference as Kies in not initializing properly, but you never know )
Just wanted to know has it ever worked for you on this computer??
It can be an OS issue as well, can you try on a different machine??
Cause once I was getting issues with Kies on my Dell Inspiron, so tried it on another machine and the same installation file worked perfectly for me.
I did an OSRI on my Dell Inspiron and the same installer worked for me on Inspiron as well.
So in that case it was Windows OS to be blamed, so first try to install the same latest installer on another win7 machine and see if it works!!
Then take it from there!!
Click Thanks if it Helped!!

Didn't work with the Note connected.
And I want to use Kies for the first time so I never tried it before on my pc. And I'm pretty sure Kies works on other systems because there are alot of people using it without a problem hehe. Unfortunately I don't have a laptop or something.
I mean I could download and install in on another system that's not mine, but the whole point is that I want to use it on my own pc. I know there has to be a way to fix it.
Thanks anyway .
Delete KIES, both program as install file. Run Ccleaner (or any other registry cleaner). Download KIES again (maybe you just had a flawed download). Reinstall and try again.

I did everything you said, but no luck . Thanks anyway!!
I guess OSRI should help cause you are getting some runtime errors as well, even some missing dll's.....that can work!!

Yeah I guess that would do the job. I installed KIES on my parents laptop and it works fine, so I guess I'll stick to that, only thing is I have to travel like an hour or so lol. I don't think it's worth to do a full OSRI just for KIES or maybe I'm just lazy, but at least I have access to the program.
Thanks for your help!!
