[Q] name-day in calendar - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
How does one remove name day in the s-planner (calendar) app?
Thanks
Humphster

How did you get them there in the first place? That's not a standard feature?
Sent from my superior GT-N7000 using Tapatalk

I didn't. I have reason to suspect Google did.
Actually, I found the answer. S-planner - menu - settings - calendars* - XXXXXX.gmail.com
Calendars really doesn't look like a menu and that's the reason I didn't find it at first.
it's just a matter of unchecking the name day files.
Thanks for your reply. I hope this will help someone else, too.

Something Similar to tcalendar?

Does anyone know of a good widget calender app that will show the date? There is tcalendar, which is exactly what I'm looking for, but doesn't seem to work on the Hero.
If anyone knows of anything similar, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks..
Marc
check pure calendar widget. one of my favorites

Thanks for the reply, but I'm looking for one that just today's date and once you tap on it, it takes you to your calendar.
Thanks..
I downloaded tCalendar as well because of the day/date display. That bit works but it does not launch the calendar app. I left a comment in the Android Market to that effect and hopefully it will get fixed.
Yeah, I got the same thing. It's exactly what I'm looking for, if it just launched the calendar app.

Might be missing the point here, but...
The HTC widget shows the date (both the small and large versions) and when you tap the date it opens the Calendar app.
Thanks..that is helpful, yes. But, was hoping there was just a small icon.
Thanks..

Easy Question - New Emails = Vibrate

I just when from Vanilla to SuperD newest version today.
Formerly when I received new email my phone would make no sound, only vibrate. Now I no longer seem to have that option, from what I can tell.
Any advice on this one?
What do you mean? On EMail or GMail? Did you check the Settings? Details plz?
Yeah... seems like a lot apks in android have their own settings and don't play nice with default settings. Go into an app (either Gmail or Email, whichever one gives you trouble), go into settings of that app and adjust as you please.
Good luck.
I only recently discovered this too. As said above you need to go into setting individually. You can do it for SMS/MMS too and set different tones for them.
thanks, i'm some sort of moron for not figuring this out on my own. doh.

Solved?
Report the thread to a mod so that it can be closed (red triangle next to #1) and maybe go edit, advanced and edit the title so that it says "SOLVED" or "FIXED" so that everyone knows.
Thanks!

[Q] [PATCH REQUEST] Add ADD "SENDING NETWORK TIMESTAMP" OPTION to received SMS

[Q] [PATCH REQUEST] Add ADD "SENDING NETWORK TIMESTAMP" OPTION to received SMS
Dear all,
the problem is simple...as is possible to notice, when sms arrive the displayed time is the received and not the sent one...
this fact is valid for all the new generation smartphones, iPhone included..
=> I really hate this fact because sometimes happens that my phone is off or it has not signal and, after the signal is back again, I receive tons of SMS with the same time....and perhaps some of them all already "expired" since they are referred to a past event...
old phones like Nokias, ecc. displayed ALWAYS the "sent time" and not the "received one"...
I've seen that has been already opened an issue on the Android Dev Code : http ://code. google. com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2989
what is more interesting to observe is that seems the base SMS application (but also Handcent SMS) uses the local handset time for the date called thru System.currentTimeMillis()...(http ://code. google .com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2989#c40)
and, as I've seen ([http ://code. google .com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2989#c39) it is possible to set the "network time" using the Android.Telephony.smsMessage.getTimestampMills()
now..could someone look into this issue and try to write a patch for our Galaxy S (but also for other phones should be the same..)? because I've not so much time and I'm not very familiar with Android code..
thank you very much,
Alessandro
up
please...could someone consider this? don't you think it's an interesting feature?
I would like this feature .
I for one would welcome this change.
I'll try to write some code today and see if I can read the timestamp.

I would like to see this in action too. I'm fed up of Android not supporting some of the most basic cell phone features .

many thanks
and I think it will also useful for all the Android community!!
oh... i used to view the properties of the msg to read the sent time with nokix, already forgot that it should be sent time but not rec time
Where is possible to find the sources of the native Android SMS application?
Could anyone post them (or something similar?)..then I'll try to hack the code
If i remember correct, the HTC Desire did not have this issue with default sms client.
Hope someone will find a fix for this annoying issue soon.
Possible fix
I know it's a little late but I found an app called SMS Timestamper Fix that seems to be working so far and it's free. Hope this helps.

Bump. I once had a mms.apk that had the sent timestamp instead of received timestamp. Now no developer knows how to recreate it.

[Q] Serous Problem in S-MEMO

hey guys i am on non rooted phone
and there is a serious security issues in s-memo
i have afolder in s-memo which is password protected which contains my imp data
now when in s memo if anyone goes into search and types a file name he can easily see all my imp data without password
guys are you facing the same
plz help
thanks
Can you explain exactly how your searching for the file? Are you just clicking on the smemo app and once opened you type imp or .imp into the search or are you doing something else. If you explain I'll check for you right now, if you're still here.
thanks in advance for your help
i have created a folder names "imp msg" which is locked with password
there are 5 memos in the folder
Now when i search (option available after pressing menu button when in s-memo app) with any word which is in memo in the imp msg folder the memo appears directly which can be seen and on selection we can open that memo without entering password
hey except me no one has tried this out or is it that i am the only one facing this problem??

I have just tried it and can confirm that you are correct in your findings. There is a work around if you want to keep specific notes private, if you password protect individual files/s notes, they do not appear in the search results.
I know that it is not ideal but is a temporary fix.
You have to lock the Notes individually.

Dave

I pw locked 3 notes individually and was able to see them all by going to My Files>Application>SMemo>cache...all of them were right there, no pw needed.

[Q] using agenda on android wear

I have a LG G watch R since yesterday. I have been trying out all te functions and different apps but I can't seem to get it to make an appointment in my google agenda. I have tried saying different things using google Now but the only thing i get it to do is to view my agenda for today. Is there a way to make entry's in my agenda using the smartwatch?
I'm still trying to find out how everything works.
Use an app like "CalenGoo" and you can add calendar event and also Task.
Thank you for your reply. So at the moment the watch can't do this by itself? It needs an app for that? That sounds strange to my but i guess i will look into that suggested app. Thanks.

Try saying "Agenda for March" - it showed up next weeks appointments (test entries) for me - otherwise if you just say "Agenda" you get today only. If you say "Agenda for month" you get full size calendar page on the screen which you cant see - and a warning that it takes a long time to display.
Jeff
Yes you can display your event but not add event without specific app
