I have discovered an issue with my note here in the UK.
Ive been struggling a week or so trying to update to different roms, rocket 19, Criskelo, etc etc, all roms that are base on LA1 to LA4, and without success, just get bootloops no matter how i install it.
Today i decided to install LA4 stock, with the thought of installing the cfroot for it and then trying to install a custom rom via cwm, and it failed, BOOTLOOP, no matter what, i didnt even get the stock LA4 to boot to the main screen.
So im stuck, dont know where to go with it, for some reason my Note will not accept these roms, stock or custom, and i wondered if anyone else had encountered this or if anyone knows if there is a way around it, any ideas or help would be gratefully accepted.
Pleeeaaaassssseeeee, its doing ma nut in..
Try This, Flashing Stock ROM
1. Download LA3 Update. Extract Zip using 7z, you get 3 files (PDA, PHONE, CSC)
2. Download Odin PC
3. Open Odin and attach 3 files (i think you know how to attach files)
4. Untick Re Partition, leave others ticked.
5. Turn off your Device. Put in Download mode by holding Volume Down + Home + Power
6. Confirm Downloading mode by pressing Volume up
7. Connect Data Cable to both PC and Device
8. you can see Device connected and Yellow block on Odin
9. Press Start and wait for complete boot
(Flashing will hardly take 10 mins)
Thats it.. you are in LA3.

Hi Folks
I am trying to solve the problem of my Note going into a bootloop after a Rocket Rom install. Not sure what caused it, perhaps i didnt freeze the WiFi well enough?
So here is the scenario:
Rooted and working Galaxy note with CWM installed. Current rom was backed up. Zip of Rocket Rom was placed in the sdcard folder on the phone and the phone was then rebooted into CWM Recovery mode. The "install zip from SD card" is selected and the process ran and completed with no errors.
Now, as the Note restarts, it goes into the bootloop at the Rocket Rom loading screen.
I searched for possible answers on this forum as well as other Android forums but could not find a relevant solution for the note. Other phones solutions did not work...
So now i am trying to restore the phone back to stock from backup or another rom by holding Vol+Power+Home buttons. However, this does not get me to the regular CWM scroll screen with options! It takes me to ODIN Mode big green android logo with "Downloading... Do not turn off target" under it instead... So i cant re-flash it via CWM?
Using ODIN on my PC - dont know what files to select for BOOTLOADER, PDA, PHONE, CSC... Not sure if this is the best solution either.
How can i recover my device? Thank you in advance!
I was in the same condition because installed 19_1 without 19. I flashed an older rootable stock rom with odin via PC, rooted it and installed CWM, then installed 19 and 19_1 afterwards.
Select PDA and then the .tar file. It would do. Here is a tutorial, it is the same for SGN:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEjTaFg_2Ks
Thank you i am going to try that! I actually went with v19, didnt do 19.1
Keep in mind CWM recovery is VOL UP,MENU,POWER NOT VOL DOWN.
Got me out of the same situation last night where it would only go into ODIN mode and nearly gave me a heart attack
Thank you!! I actually just figured that out a few minutes ago myself, after pressing the buttons and rebooting a bunch of times all of a sudden i booted into the CWM menu... Must have pressed the Volume UP by accident I tagged this post - might be a good tip for someone running into the same issue and doing a search on here. Such as simple solution, but if you dont know it - can be very frustrating
So the issue is solved - was able to wipe all and re-flash with Rocket v19. Now on to sync all accounts and restore all apps with Titanium back up Pro. Thanks again folks good of you to jump in and help me out.

just on that...do you reboot the phone inbetween the 19 and 19.1 or do you just choose to install 19.1 zip straight after installing 19 without rebooting the phone

From viny2cool:
1. remove the usb cable, battery, sdcard, SIM.
2. wait 10 seconds, then insert the USB cable.
3. press and hold the 3 button combo while you insert the battery
4. continue to hold until phone's screen goes black twice and release power button.
5. timing is critical, it may not work the first time. Keep going until you see the COM port is connected properly.
I flash using Odin and my Note back to Life x_x
Rocket v21
Flashed couple of times exactly the way Rocket install procedure, Note goes into bootloop. Finally have to do Stock flash. Its the worst ROM I have come across for all those Android phones I used with.
This WAS the situation before the problems:
Rooted Gingerbread rom, all working fine. Decided to unroot and install the full version of the official German ICS rom by using PC Odin. All went fine and used my Note for over two days. Because of the lags en slow responses I decided to reflash the ICS rom. From that moment on I messed it up. I've been reading and searching hundreds of posts for almost a day but didn't find a solution.
This IS the current situation:
I can get into download mode
I can get in recovery mode
However, in recovery mode I can not install a rom, every flash (CWM, both ICS and GB - even using chainfire's rom needed for rooting) stops on a random moment...but never gets it to the end, even if I wait several hours. Installing is very...very....very slow.
In recovery mode i can not restore a Nandroid backup, both ICS and GB. Every backup stops when /system has te be installed. errormessage.
In download mode I can connect my Note to PC Odin. I can select a rom and start flashing. However, after appr. 80% installation halts during "nand write start", no error message. The flashing does not finish, even after hours.
Funny is, i can install a kernel like Abyss.
So, I can't restore, i can't flash using cwm in recovery and I can't flash using PC Odin. My device seems not fully bricked. The max I get when rebooting (knowing that the process has not finished) is the triangle screen.
Any advise is appreciated.
Do not flash thru CWM... Flash a good GB kernel like "franco.Kernel" but thru PC Odin then u can flash whatever u want from franco's CWM... Good luck
Don't need help anymore
Note is officially bricked. After several attempts to recover from a softbrick the screen of my Note didn't turn on anymore. No button or button combination works, no recovery and no download mode, just a black screen.

Flat battery? It's also possible that it's just the screen that's not working. Try entering download mode "blind". So hold power+home+vol down for ~10 seconds, then press vol up. Hook it up via usb and see if Odin can recognize it.
Thanks, didn't think of that. But unfortunately no response from the device.
So now that it looks like your phone is officially bricked, I think you should just take it to Samsung and make up a story. Like you were updating your software with Kies and something happened and the phone is just not booting up.
I am sorry you bricked your note though..
try AMORA Filemanager.. flash via recovery and you have a file manager,,, take a look on your partitions
just my idea, you got nothing to lose

I would like to but it's very hard when you can't see anything on the screen...
Maybe it's just the battery, try to charge it externally and try a JIG also
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
Just a quick, final, update.
My Note was superbricked. Had to send it to a Samsung Service Center. No additional questions were asked. Samsung replaced the mainboard. Didn't have to pay anything.
Great service!!!
try this out buddy, do it on your own risk!!! anyways you have messed it up.

i was not a member when i commited this mistake. but then big thanks to this community it helped me back from softbrick.
first you do is install a stock kernel of ics on your note go into recovery and just clear cache partition, thats it no wipe/data factory reset.
then,
install the pit file from this thread, also read it completely before proceeding. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1667886 , hoping yours is 16gb version and also read this thread for additional info but its quite complicated for me so im just telling you the direct method and hopefully itll get your note back to work. so once you download the 16gb pit file unzip it and in the unzip folder you will find a separately lying pit of 16gb stating patched-standard thats the one you want.
then,
goto samfirmware and download the latest ics firmware(i downloaded the indian one as it is in file .tar),
unzip it till you get .tar file.
open odin- click pit-select 16gb patched standard pit- check wether repartion is ticked- click pda-select the .tar file you extracted connect your phone and start. this time i wont stop at factory.fs.....
NOTE THAT AFTER THIS PROCEDURE IS COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY YOUR INTERNAL STORAGE WOULD BE ONLY 8GB INSTEAD OF 11 GB STOCK WHICH YOU WERE GETTING.
I REVIVED MY NOTE THROUGH THIS PROCEDURE. PROCEES AT YOUR OWN RISK.
one your phone is working you'll be able to reset the counter with a jig and get your phone under warranty and get your motherboard changed by teliing at the Samsung Service that you are getting only 8gb instead of 11gb you used to get earlier(warranty only if you had any).
hope this helps mate.
BEST OF LUCK!!
A BIG HUGE THANKS TO hg42.....

what have you tried to do to fix this already?
ICS Bad Idea!!!
I wouldnt recommned updating to ICS especially through kies i had my phone stuck at "firmware upgrade encountered an issue please select recovery mode in kies and try again" for 2 days It was a disaster. So i came across a website called http://androidromupdate.com/2012/09...-firmware-upgrade-official-kiesota-stock-rom/
I then downloaded the the I927UCLH2 ICS 4.0.4 Original Stock ROM using ODIN... FOLLOW DIRECTIONS THROUGH THE SITE NOT KIES!! BUT THE ORIGINAL STOCK ROM!
***After you have successfully completed the stock rom with ODIN***
Get a rom from http://forum.jakar.co/android-hack/1345758298/ Choose the ROM called Bio360 its almost the same Replica of Gingerbread its Version 2.3.5
VERY IMPORTANT!! Make sure you put the ZIP FILE (ROM) in your INTERNAL STORAGE NOT THE EXTERNAL!!! (SD CARD SLOT) BIG MISTAKE!!
Go to google and type in "CWM captivate glide new" click the first link beggining with www.theandroidsoul.com........ FOLLOW DIRECTIONS THROUGH THE SITE!
After you have downloaded the Rom (ZIP FILE) and CWM put your phone into Recovery mode by powering off the device. hold power button and the volume down button until you see clockwork recovery, from here you are going to look for install from sd card and look for the zip file/Rom Bio360 and you should be set!
*******THE Bio360 Rom is also Rooted so there is no need to do an extra step************
*** I HOPE THSI HELPS ANY PROBLEMS FEEL FREE TO INBOX ME ANY QUESTIONS*** I WILL TRY MY BEST TO HELP......
Sorry guys wrong post this is for Samsung captivate glide! , my mistake..

This is for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (Sprint SPH-L900) Is the website for the stock rom
rwilco12.com
stock rom: [ROM][ODIN][TAR]SPH-L900 MA7 (MA7 Modem/Kernel/ROM - Stock
Odin 3 v 1.85 (You Can Google and find it)
ok sweet so I have done this successfully. i really believe you should put this on ur first post so people dont have to do searching and can feel at ease.
1. Start ODIN 3v1.85
2. Enter Download Mode
a. Power the phone off.
b. Plug the usb cable into the computer (not the phone)
c. Hold both sides of the volume rocker down (vol up + vol down)
d. While holding those buttons down, insert the usb cable into your phone.
It may take a second or two for the screen to display with a warning. Press the Volume UP key to download a custom ROM.
3. In ODIN, click PDA and select the PDA.tar file you extracted
4. DO NOT check re-partition, Flash Lock, Phone EFS Clear, Phone bootloader update
5. CHECK Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time
6. Click Start
At the end of the process ODIN's first block will show up as YELLOW with the words PASS and your phone will reboot.
Unplug USB from your phone after first boot.
It worked for me perfectly you don't have to F.Reset
Perhaps you should try the Note 2 forums for a more informative response?
I have the same problem with my tmobile galaxy s ii, T989
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again
and whenever I start installing a stock room using Odin 1.85 it force close and the phone stays in the same page saying
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again
Please help!
Tried everything I know and still not working
I tried two computers and everytime I start odin it forces stop
The screen is still in Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again
and I guess this is the download mode because I restarted it with volume up and down and pluged the usb and it turns to this screen
I downloaded odin again to make sure it runs ok and also tried it in my wifes phone and it runs with no problem
It is one of two cases, ether the phone is completely dead or the files I am using to be installed are not the correct ones
I tried the files on this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1414341
Please tell me what to do
I really need the phone...
Ok so I was on the Vodafone release of the JB update, the phone became real laggy etc so I decided to see if there were any more releases of the JB update, I found Australia's LT6 so I switched off my phone.
I connected to ODIN on my laptop and put the MD5 file into the PDA and clicked start, It failed, so I tried again from scratch and it failed once more, Since then I have tried flashing A copy of the old Gingerbread stock rom. Still no avail.
I can access Download mode and when I enter recovery mode I get firmware upgrade encountered an issue please select recovery mode in Kies.
Kies does not register the device yet my laptop makes the sound when I connect it.
What do I do to save my phone!
Info; My phone is not rooted or on a custom ROM All stock.

Flash the CM9 safe kernel in download mode using ODIN PC : here http://www.mediafire.com/?uhiges9y3zhs8oi and here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1068597&d=1337343150
Then, you will be able to boot into recovery by pressing Vol Up + Home + Power.
Recovery will give you access to USB mode, put a stock ROM or Small Pristine XXLT5 on your SD Card (internal or external).
Do a factory reset, wipe /system/, flash the ROM, and you will be good to go ! :good:

Why do I need to use a CM9 Kernal?
I don't want to have root.
Where do I put the Kernal in Odin?
First of all you should tell as exactly what error you got when installing XXLT5 in PC Odin.
Maybe make a snapshot of PC Odin window with the error.
Not start more actions with other ways to install a Rom before it's clear what happened. If you do not know it might get even uglier.
Hello, been a while since I unlocked and installed custom ROMs. Recently I bought a cheap Note 9 and since it is already out of warranty, might as well get a custom ROM to get rid of Bixby.
I used Odin to flash TWRP as per the instructions and now my phone refuses to get out of it. It reboots in to Download mode no matter what button combination I use. Vol down + Power key gets me back in to download mode, if i press all the buttons, same thing. No matter what combo of buttons I use, it just keeps rebooting in to Download mode.
I cannot even turn the phone off... lolwut
The first time it booted in to TWRP, i flashed my ROM and I wanted to reboot to start it but it just keeps coming back to Download mode.
Any ideas?

Ok i somehow fixed it.
When I tried to flash the stock firmware, it gave me Device 4 Binary 3. Googled it and apparently I flashed a BL that's a higher version.
So I fixed it with this genius post from the S6 Edge+ forums by Samuwelle.
---
RE: sw rev check fail device 4 binary 3 error
For all of you who get a similar error while downgrading:
1. download your firmware
2. download 7-Zip
3. download Odin
4. download tar tool
5. READ the guide to the tar tool
6. create the tar.md5 for boot.img, system.img and modem.bin ONE at a time and always cut the created files into a second folder. (I dont know if you need the .back files but just to be shure put them in, too
7. put your phone into download mode
8. start Odin (make shure phone is connected)
9. navigate to the boot.tar.md5 for "BL", the system.tar.md5 for "AP" and modem.tar.md5 for "CP"
10. press "Start" => DONE
This works for me and might not work for you.
I do not take responsibility for any damage YOU did to your phone.
Feel free to ask questions.
Hope this saves someone's day.

I downloaded the stock beta android 10 ROM, did the above, flashed it with Odin, did it 4 times because the progress bar did not move at all. Finally, the last attempt I just let it run while I played some games, after about 20mins, it still hasn't moved, gave up, pulled out the cable and immediately got an "Error updating, please use Smart Switch Emergency Recovery". SS did not work, did not detect.
Tried the above method again, no dice. I could not get out of the error mode now, so I just opened Reiboot Android and clicked the little button to exit download mode, and for some reason it started booting! LOLOL
I guess it flashed successfully, just that the progress bar for Odin didn't move. Either way, I ain't touching **** now. On Android 10, One UI 2.0, gonna use this til the official thing comes out.
