There was an update and not it supports 2.2 so I went ahead and downloaded it. I am having nothing but issues with it. It plays really choppy. Basically unplayable and it kinda sucks cause it took 20 minutes to download the data so I cant even return it.
Anyone else having issues with this game? I'm running Vegan 5.11
i am having issues with this game too. choppy if it even runs at all, and that's when it's not causing my entire tablet to freeze up.
My advice: wait to download this one until they have fixed the massive amounts of bugs that are floating around in it.
I agree, right now I have waisted $10
Also choppy and crashing. Wouldn't recommend anyone buy this yet.
This makes me sad, I had high hopes for this.
Did any of you try restarting your tablet after downloading? I downloaded and tried to run it and it was very laggy and was no good so I restarted and it works perfectly. I play it all the time with not one issue.
Since the last update, i've had no more problems with this game.

I did exactly that. In fact, the crappy part is that you can only get it with the supplement for VegAn-TAB 5.11. Otherwise, it is not visible on the market or available through the Tegra App. However, the supplement kept killing my audio and making my device starting hissing out of the blue as if it were possessed.
I have a service emailinto the company to see if I can get a refund or if they can send me an apk.
It sucks. It was nice, but I had to sacrifice audio or video. It never played 100%.
I downloaded an updated version. And now its like butter. Game is ok. I prefer gun bros
Dear all,
I noticed my phone has an issue and I think this may not be rom / kernel related, so I would like to ask here.
My phone is running fine every time after booting up, however after running for a random period of times (say 2 - 7 days), it cannot play any media files. I can't play youtube (it said the video cannot be played), can't listen to mp3 (music player reported unsupported codec), ringtone disappeared (phone don't ring if i get call) and other apps failed in similar way. A reboot can solve the issue.
It is a bit annoying (especially when you when to play something and you suddenly identified that you need to wait for 5 min for a reboot), does any one experienced similar issue?
To clarify , I am running darky rom with darky kernel 1.0, however I had this issue for a few months, I was using super optimized kernel and had the same issue as well.
Same here. i'm running Darky's 9.4 but I don't know if it is related to this rom.
I don't remember that I had this problem before.

Another one running Darky rom with a problem .

I have this problem.
(dark kernel 1.4 and darky rom 9.5)
I get this occasionally and I'm on stock 2.2.1. It's a massive pain in the arse. I thought maybe it was something to do with my external micro sd card but I formatted it and waited hours to copy all my music to it again and I'm still having problems.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
So quite a few of people having this problem. Did anyone of us find out the root cause? And what's the reason that others do not suffer from this? This happened on Darky, Super Optimized Kernel, Speedmod, Stock Rom...
Some experts can help?
Also know this problem. Had it on stock and some custom roms too. Tried nearly every kernel ever available for our phone but didnt help. so it really maybe some strange Hardware issue...just speculating but when did you guys get your galaxy? cause mine was one of the `first generation` got it immediately when it was available here in germany in june/july 2010...perhaps this got fixed by Samsung later on

I've seen another thread were someone said it was called by the twitter client. They have updated the official twitter client recently, and I've not had the problem occur since. Although, it may be too soon to tell, it used to happen to me very regularly.
And just to followup, the problem hasn't gone away with the new version of twitter.
So, I'm not sure of what is the cause (or solution) to the issue.

Nope, i though you are talking the twitter update around 1 week ago. I just found that twitter have a new update today and never tried it if it fixed the problem. The change description do mention something similar, fixed a bug to skip music player while updating.. not sure if this is really the case.... need to test now...
good topic
I'm going to get rid of the twitter app then to see if it helps as updates don't seem to have done anything and I reformatted the sd card again and stuck everything back on there today and not only did it happen again, it's getting worse! Not only could I not play any music a minute ago, a load of my apps had vanished too! I assume ones that installed to SD by default rather than the phone storage.
If this sorts it out I'll be very happy. Twitter's crap anyway.
I've been having the same problem for a while now. I have just uninstalled Twitter and will see if that helps.
Basically all media stops working. Can't even record anything with the camcorder app. Nothing plays back. No youtube, no camcorder videos, no nothing. BUT arcmedia will open some videos sometime. HMMM weird, because other video player apps don't seem to be able to play them.
I'll give an update later today if it works. Videos normally stop working after only a few hours on my phone.

Do you guys have 8GB or 16GB models?
I've only come across this once and it was on a stock 16GB, one of the early ones, started about a week ago...upgraded to JVB seems to have solved it for now, time will tell.
16gb model, I've had 3 updates, and none have fixed the problem.

So after downloading a playing there seems to be a few issues.
Should be noted Im Running Vegan-G
Game works.
Looks very low res
The background does not render only active areas are rendered.
i.e. first level, the only thing i can see is a strip of grass and the rest of the UI. everything else is black
Game freezes after a few levels...
Pretty much on par with what everyone else is saying...
Game runs fine on my Nexus S, including the background...
i was honestly expecting more from a known dev like Popcap
After it crashed my tablet the first time I tried to play it, the game runs perfectly. I'm running Vegan 5.1.1 if anyone is curious. Now just if Popcap would bring tablet support to chuzzle.
Amazan dont supply my region where i live. maybe someone can post apk for Plants vs Zombies.
Thanks.
Been waiting for this one to hit android. Awesome that it is free for today.
I think because it is really a paid app, you are out of luck getting it posted here for download. Usually the mods frown on that sort of thing.

That would be against XDA's rules.
My whole family is addicted to this game. I have it on Mac and I installed Wine on my Ubuntu laptop just for this game. I was really looking forwards to it on my android devices.
Unfortunately, like some other thinks, actually getting it is not as good as the desire.
The app the make you download for the Android store is a pain. It's slow and clunky. Looks like they are using an internal flash or Java or something. The actual download was pretty slow too.
It runs on the G-Tablet, but it is not tablet optimized. It's just larger. Some effects are a little slow. Definitely not optimized for the G-Tablet's hardware.
Update: I'm running CM 7.03.
Worse than that, it seems to crash (freeze) after about 2 levels. I need to play more to see if it is just time, or a certain game event or action.
Edit: Since flash works, you can play the on-line version as long as you have 'net access, but it's only the first few levels. Just go to pop cap games.
It seems to just freeze a lot for me too. Sorta sad. Seems like popcap can do better.
Doesn't work for me
Unplayable for me--opens sometimes, but freezes or crashes before the actual game ever loads. I'm running Vegan 5.1 with Pershoot's kernel. So disappointed!
A good reason to play with different mods/kernels.
Force Closes and reboots tablet. Is anyone running CM7 playing this?
I'm running a cm7 nightly build from a few days ago. The game plays a bit for me but randomly freezes all the time (the music keeps playing), requiring a force close.
I pulled the .apk from my phone with the intent of copying it to my Dell Streak without having to infect the Streak with the Amazon Store.
Plants vs. Zombies checks for the Amazon App, and that the Amazon app has your Amazon user ID and password. If this check fails, it freezes with a black screen, and may be continuing to use battery. It also seems to need an internet connection to authenticate, at least initially.
If you do not want the Amazon app, or for some reason it becomes inoperable, apparently, all purchased Amazon apps will stop working.
I find this totally unacceptable, and IANAL, but this seems to me like at least pretty close to illegal "Tying".
Besides, at least so far, neither of the 2 tied apps seem to work very well. I recommend against installing either app at this time.
This is the worst (OK, not as bad as the Sony rootkit fiasco, but close) kind of DRM/Defective by Design
I hope somebody that can un-dex fixes this, but until then, as far as I am concerned, we don't really have PvZ for Android.
Unistalled the App and the Amazon Store App.

Same here. I can play one level fine. I go to the next level and it freezes before I beat that level.
Is there a fix? I was playing with my processor speed, but so far, I haven't found one that will play the game well. I don't know if processor speed matters that much, but I will keep messing with it.
Edit:
Processor speeds between 600mHz and 1200mHz don't help. The game crashes for me every time on level 1-9.
It's locking up for me too after a couple of levels in.
I'm running Vegan.
Running TNTLite 4.4.0. Game keeps randomly freezing, sometimes even before getting to the intro screen. Can't really play it.
Vegan 5.1.1 here, and same issues.
Freezes partway through a level, or right after finishing a level.
Works perfect on my Samsung GalaxyS though.

Wow. I just did the same thing. I re-installed the Amazon app store to get PvZ and it told me I had updates to the 3 angry birds I had previously installed through Amazon market in the first week it released. I installed pvz and updated the angry birds apps. Pvz crashes as soon as you try to click on options and after 5 tries to play I made it ababout 30 seconds into the second lvl it locks up. Uninstalled pvz and the Amazon market app. Then I went to check out the updates to my angry birds and it tells me I need to install the Amazon app.
This was not an issue before, the update that was done only made it so I can't play my games without having the Amazon app installed, which by the way always is running in the background.
F~ those guys dude. This skates on the border of illegal and is completely annoying. Way to ruin a good thing Amazon.
Thankfully I have my angry birds backed up with titanium.
works for me using bos 3.3.I will try to play more levels so far I have played 6 levels with no problem. First time i tried it frooze my tablet. had to turn it off then try again. works fine for now.
if only I could get around the bos 3.3 wifi error...
still having troubles with this game. everything else works so well on aosp.
Running Vegan Ginger and a couple freezes and FC's later, it seems to have smoothed out. Works just fine on G2x.
I have no issue with the Amazon AppStore being on here
No dice on BoS/HC 2.4. Installs fine, starts up fine, then freezes.
So I started noticing lag on games with a virtual pad. As in, jump works fine if im standing in game for example, but im running and I try to jump, either it doesnt do it at all, or it does it with some lag.
So I downloaded a multitouch tester and pretty much confirmed that there's an issue there.
If I just touch with one finger at a time, it works fine. If I press with two fingers and keep them there moving them around and whatnot, it also works fine.
BUT, if I keep pressing with one finger and use the other one to do a fast light tap, half of the time it doesnt register it.
Im using the ROM posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583871
wich im finding to be great, but I thought of originally posting my issue there since I gather it is more likely to be caused by software and not hardware.. right? considering simple touch works completely fine.
Any ideas?
Ace supports only 2 fingers at a time. But i did not find any types of lags while using 2 fingers. But it wont work if u use 3 or more fingers at once.
REPLY
Hey I got 100% same issue too. On original cm7 nightly.
But I found out sometimes it works and sometime it doesn't seems to work. I think it's similar to the rounding bug.
Maybe it's the kernel problem. Just don't overclock and it will work well. Or, reboot your phone and wait for a night without touching it, and the problem is gone. However, the bug will occur again after you install an app or launch an app. This multi-touch bug always occur on cm7. If you don't want this problem you can use stock roms. But if you say touch making it lags, it doesn't make our phone lags or the game you play using this phone is a bit slow. Just the second finger is responding slowly if the first finger is pressed/touched on the screen.
And I've tested this bug using the dev tools in the cm7 rom. dev tools/pointer location. All of the stock rom doesn't have this bug except cm7. CM7 will not have this problem on the first few weeks since the first boot. hope it helps
It's a Ace Hardware issue. Nothing to do about it.
King of the mashed potatoes©
Getting a faster device is the only solution
I got transformed into a potato while writing this post..
Hello, I hope I can post this here.. i tried, i searched... can't find any solution to my issue.
Model : SM-T810 , with Samsung 128GB UHS microSD. OS : stock Nougat from Samsung.
Here is the problem :
On the play store, if there are pending updates, they only install one at a time, and then it won't do more. Like if there is 5 pending updates, it will maybe do one, and then the other 4 stay pending. It might only do the download portion of the first one and not go to the install phase. If there's no pending updates, and i try to install an app, only the downloading portion of the process shows up, it stops after that, it doesn't go to installing. I have to close the store and go back in for it to install, but if there's a queue of downloads (updates or asked to install multiple apps), I have to close the store for the same amount of apps in the queue for them to install one by one. Now I noticed that every once and a while, 2 or 3 will have updated overnight but that's it!
I closed the process, I cleared the cache, I cleared the data, I cleared the download manager's data and cache, i rebooted, i forced a wrong date and time then set it to auto-date and time to retry, etc.... I uninstalled the Play Store updates, nothing worked!!!
The next step was to do a factory reset. I did not want to lose some progress on some games, AND I have an app to read PDF files and did not want to lose read/unread status of my files...
So I used Odin to flash TWRP, did a backup, rooted, used Titanium Backup to backup my apps.
Then I did factory reset. Store behaved normally again! Installed a few apps, waited a few hours, still good. Did a restore of my apps from titanium backup, everything seemed fine, then a few hours later, store still was not updating or installing the apps right...
Did another factory reset, store worked fine, only restored a couple of backed up apps (the critical ones that i wanted to keep the saves from), everything worked fine. Over the course of 24 hrs, i re-installed a bunch of my regular apps via the play store. Play store worked fine. I did to another Nandroid backup with TWRP just in case.
Then all of a sudden, it started to lag a bit between clicking install, to downloading, to installing. And then a few hours later, issue completely came back, store won't install without me closing it between the download finish and install.
Now one of the last steps I did before it started acting up again was moving ONE app to the SD card (not using any root features). I'm not sure if that caused the issue to come back.
I did notice that Android left a bunch of files on my SD card, some Android folder, with a bunch of subfolders.
I'm wondering if the SD card could be the culprit... I will do one last restore from my last working Nandroid backup and not move anything to the SD card.
If it comes up again, i think i will move the data that i have on my SD card that I dont want to loose (my PDF, pictures, etc.) on to my NAS, and do a factory reset without the SD card installed. Maybe even re-flash with Samsung Kies... and forget about my Titanium Backup saves...
It's my last resort so I was hoping anyone would have any idea on what else to try before doing that?
One last point : yes the stores kinda slows down at some point where the download process takes a few seconds to kick in, and then a few seconds to installing, up to the point where it never does. BUT the rest of my tablet still is really fast, no slow downs anywhere else... All apps launch fast
Thanks!

Auto updates of the apps? Or the OS?
Apps i can see... but still... If I turn that off, that solves the issue of the auto-updates. But then if I want to update a bunch, they will only do one by one, i have to close the store and open again after each updated app.
But even with app auto-updates, if i want to install one new app on my S2, it will only download, but not install, i have to close the store and open it again for it to install. Then the next time that I want to install an app, I have to do the same thing again, close and open. It's like the download manager doesn't tell the Play Store app to do the install (or tell whatever app or service to install the APK...)

Fair, let's recap: you do not use stock rom. You have root, twrp, flashed this and that and a morbid desire to have always the very lastest version of whatever the app. And now the Play store doesn't work properly anymore.. d
Do you see the pattern?
But, hey, maybe you need even more *lates updates* to fix your issue.
Updates = bad performance and new issues in general. Period.

Wooooh, DON'T jump to conclusions here.
I was running the STOCK out of the box Android for the S2, no root, no TWRP. The issue started after one year of usage, and not only included updating apps but installing FRESH NEW ONES TOO.
The "flash this and that" came AFTER i ran into issues.
I also have a Note 5 supplied from work and for that reason I'm still runing stock, not rooted, and never will root it. I have over 100 apps on there, 5 email accounts (2 professionnal, 3 personnal), multiple google calendars, multiple outlook calendars, auto-update is on, it's been over a year and a half, if not more, and never ran into this kind of issue, ever! It's synced with my CPAP, my smart watch, and my headphones. And it's still goes the same speed and gives me the same performance as when i took it out of the box.
My tab S2 is my second Android tablet, before I had a Tab 3 that never gave me issues like that either, and always had auto-updates on.
Sometimes you need updates. Some online services might not work right or at all if you don't have the app that matches the features, like evernote, facebook, onedrive, dropbox, etc...
Or you get new hardware that requires an update.
Yes sometimes they include bugs ... which are fixed in a later version.

I saw multiple posts of people having different phones running stock having this exact issue for a while with no solution in view. I think it has to do with Nougat too... But my Note 5 is on Nougat and no issue... it might be brought on with specific services or apps running while on Nougat.

Thanks for letting me know about the OTA update. Since i was rooted, i can't get OTA updates, would have needed to wait for the 7.1 Rom to flash...
I ended up taking screenshots of the stuff i didnt want to loose (read/unread status of my pdf files, nevermind the save games) and then i used Samsung Smart Switch to reflash the whole thing back to strictly stock, lastest firmware. So far so good, crossing fingers

Fair. So in this *year of usage* you never ever updated the OS?
And auto-update was of course *off*, right?
If that's the case, then clearly there must be some other issue with your s2.
Otherwise, you have merely confirmed what I have told in the very beginning: updates = bad performance and new issues in general. Period.

About your Note 5, maybe there weren't so many updates..

Yes in that year of usage I upgraded the OS from 5 to 6 to 7. Yes auto-update was on, for Android and for my apps. By stock rom i meant nothing flashed "this and that" like you said.
If you would read my other comments, you'd also realize that another member helped me more by letting me know there was an OTA update that helped him. I reflashed my S2 with Samsung Smart Switch and haven't had any issue with the Play Store since... that proves that updates do fix issues.
There's no OS versions, app versions, firmware versions on any devices that don't have any issues whatsoever. Updates might bring bugs but they also fix the ones from previous versions. If you think that anything stock out of the box never have any issues whatsoever, you're wrong.
Apps like evernote and facebook spy and track you? Really? And you're on a forum for Android based product and don't think that Google tracks what you do? If you dont sign in with your google account and only browse the web with your tablet, that's your business, but you can't go on forums and admonish people for doing otherwise.
Besides, this is a forum where a good part of the posts are about custom roms, flashing different boot/recovery loaders, different kernels, unlocking phones... and you're judging me because i do app updates, and flash "this and that" ?
Come on...
No judging here. Just pointed out the probem at hand.
You did update the OS at least twice.. see?
OEM updates = bad in general.
Sure, new updates fix what *previous updates* screwed up to begin with; sometimes.
I totally agree that there is no OS version that is 100% issue free, but -- why trying to fix something that seems to work?
You see, that is my whole point.
I told you about evernote and facebook because you mentioned to have them on your Note 5 which happens to be your professional work phone?!
Just be aware that Evernote steals content just like the FB messenger. And I mean literally. Your creative ideas become their property. You did agree to their terms! FB also records the mic(s) 24/7.
Certainly Google tracks and spies as well. Then again, you can deactivate or block (firewall) those services/apps.
Just remember, things that are *free* come with a price.
Niii4, I tried to subtely pass the message that I did not want any of your help when I said that SOMEONE ELSE helped me with their input and update.
I didn't say that I was using evernote and facebook on my Note 5 from work. Jumping to conclusions again.
You want to know what are the biggest secrets in my Evernote notes ??? RECIPES!!!!!
Oh no... they can read the oh so secret lemon crinkle cookies recipe that is available with a quick online search! Here's the link btw : http://www.laurenslatest.com/lemon-crinkle-cookies/
I came here after trying a lot of troubleshooting steps, when everything that I've tried failed. And someone else helped me.
All you brought to the table was misinformation about updates in general and spread paranoia on who is spying on who.
fonetyk asked you to stop that, and I asked you to stop that. So far my issue has been resolved and i'm thankful to the user Tabpro8.4 for his comment.
Please, please leave my thread.
First and foremost, this is a forum and thus other users that may encounter similar or the exact same problem(s) will seek to comprehend the whole issue at hand and not just one side of a problem.
Oh yeah, an OTA update seemed to have fixed it. Seemed.. for now.
Second, this is not exclusively about *helping you*. Apparently you are quite knowledge resistant, especially when facts are being stated that don't conform your general view.
True, you only have hundreds of apps on your work phone. But definitely not FB messenger or whatnot. Whatever. What's right is right, and what's fair is fair.
I suppose, you are probably right, the work you do must be of no interest for anybody in this world; at all. Same for your private life. Now, be a neat little sheep and go on chewing the green.. (while we are watching you).
Oh, and you stalking all my comments, telling people to ignore me is hilarious. Keep up the great whine. ?
