[Q] Hardware problems of CM7/CM9 - TouchPad Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It has mentioned that most of the hardware problems from CM7 still exist in the CM9 alpha build. but when i using the CM9 i cant notice any hardware problems except microphone and camera. so, i want to know what the hardware problem is. Sorry if it's a stupid question.

Hd video doesn't work, can't think of anything else useful.

sometimes the touchscreen wont work, i need to turn off the screen then turn it on, after that works, sometimes for hours sometimes for seconds after that i need to repeat the on/off step again and again and ....

FIXED: [Q] Cyanogenmod bluetooth

Hi All,
Sorry if this has been covered anywhere else but I can't find the same issue.
I have cyanogen 7 stable on my NC now and it works fantastically (even with overclock to 1GHz) There is an option to enable bluetooth but it just says "enabling bluetooth" for a few seconds and then goes back to being disabled.. I know some people have bt working with CM7 on the NC so what can the problem be?
/mrintegrity
Same problem with mine.
I fixed it, holding down power button untill it does a hard shutdown (instead of just a soft reboot) and then the next boot i was able to enable it. This has worked for other people too.

He means the Nightly is running stable, not that there is a Stable version.
The hard reboot has worked for me as well. On one update flash, I also had to run the Fix Permissions process in ROM Manager and then do a hard reboot. After that, bluetooth was working as advertised.
Just remember this is STILL a work in progress, BT range ij the majority of cases is restricted to a foot or less and reading the various threads still a bit picky about what it will pair and connect with.

[Q] black screen problem

Please I need help
I have nexus one I already install Cyanogen Mod 7.0.3 (2.3.3)
I have problem that on incoming and outgoing call screen become black and phone will not respond for any thing I have to remove battery and reboot it to coming back also Camera is not working
FYI, I tried many rom after that but the same problem and I already wipe it and download nightly mod but the problem still not solved so please if any one have solution provide me by it.
Thanks and Regards,
Try making a full wipe and clean install.
If that doesn't work try a different kernel.
I tried that but no change
Did you try a different kernel or even a different ROM that way at least we could tell if it's software or not.
Try cm7.1 or even a newer nightly.
Lots of update been added.
Sounds like this is related to the wonk and/or pmem issue. Both of these have been resolved in 7.1 RC1 or later. I would also recommend upgrading.
Possibly your light sensor has gone bad. I had this happen on another device once. When I made a call the screen would not turn on unless I shone a flashlight on the light sensor. Try this and if it wakes the screen then the light sensor has gone tits up. It is a component on the motherboard and very difficult to replace.

Soft button lights problem fixed in ROM?

Is there a fix for the problem with the soft button lights yet? They always turned off on the stock ROM and also on Zeus ROM. I am now using CM7 and the lights work, but the rest of the ROM is crap. I need a reliable phone that I can also use in the dark. Thanks!
the lights issue is a gb issue until now there is no real fix for it (unless till lg releases a patch or sth)
for the time being you could try this app i tried it and sometimes it works sometimes it dosent..... =P
but i dont think its a big problem anyway.... its just 4 buttons at the bottom... =)
it is not an issue or bug... it is a feature of gb for saving battery implemend by lg... It's been the same with o3d and I think with 2x as well(not sure about the 2x though). Now the fact that some people don't like it doesn't make it a bug, does it?
It is a bug, since the support already confessed, it is. If you buy a phone with a function, like lights always on and that feature gets lost after an update, what do you call it? Feature (like LG) or bug? I would call it a bug, but I think we could keep on discussing a whole week or even longer. I at least would like to have a choice, whether to enable it or not. That's all I can say to this. And since they already work on a bugfix, they either really implemented a bug, or a "feature" hardly anyone wants to have.

That would be a feaure, what we have is a bug.

[Q] Touchscreen problems while plugged in

First of all, apologies if this question was already asked, I did not find anything...
Whilst trying out and comparing several ICS ROMs, I always encountered a problem:
Regardless of which ICS ROM or which kernel I run, when the phone is plugged into my computer, the touchscreen does weird things. It seems as if one touched the screen on several spots simultaniously, which is quite annoying, especially when typing...
On some ROMs/kernels, this problem seems to be less apparent, but it is always there.
Currently I am running ICS333 with mnics-LR kernel (23.05) but as I already mentioned, it does not really matter.
Can anyone confirm this problem and - more importantly - is there any way to fix this?
Was it working when u were in GB? Once i also had the same problem when in gb

Nothing alike on Gingerbread... Could it be connected to heat? My phone gets rather hot while charging and tethering at the same time...

Usually those kind of problems are connected with bad quality DC power from USB. Bad filtration. Please connect your device to some other PC/laptop and check is it the same. If it is not then your computer is fault. To make sure connect your charger and check is it ok. Stock charger. If it weird too your mobile is damaged.
Of course this may be only one of reasons.
There is some problems with touchscreen when plugged.try calibrate your accelerometer.sometimes it helps sometimes it don't or try touchscreen booster from play store
I once had this problem. Then I changed a cable and it was fixed.
thank you all for your suggestions I'll try them when I get the chance...
for now I'll stick with ICS333 and semaphore kernel, it seems that with this combination, the problem is minimised to "nearly non-existent"

[Q] Need to wait a while for the screen to turn on

Hey,
So my dad isnt exactly satisfied with the custom ROM I flashed on his device, he needs to wait about 4 - 5 seconds (!) when theres an incoming call for the screen to turn on. The ringtone will keep on going off during that few seconds, but the screen will be black.
So I tested it on my Nexus 4, and no such issue has been spotted by me. Although, on his device, no matter how many times I tried, the issue was never gone and I had to wait a couple of seconds for the screen to turn on so I could see who's calling.
I'm not sure whether it is a kitkat issue or not, I tried 2 different roms, first BeanStalk, and now CyanFox, both had the same issue.
I also tried to flash CM10.1, but the keyboard kept on crashing after a fresh flash, wipes didnt help (maybe someone could give me a hand here?).
Another question is, where can I find some good call recording app? the ones from the play store aren't good, they only record one side of the call, never both
tl;dr:
is there some setting that I should change for the screen to turn on quicker when theres an incoming call on kitkat?
what to do if I want to downgrade from kitkat to jellybean?
is there some GOOD call recorder app around?
thank you

If you still on cm10.1 then download keyboard from market and you are good to go Also stock 4.1.2 has this lag issue when incoming call its pretty annoying really

hey, thanks for your reply
actually no, STOCK 4.1.2 didnt have this issue, it started to show when I flashed 4.4.2 on it, is there some sort of fix for this or do I have to downgrade to JB? I'd rather stick to KK as I prefer it more.
on the other hand my dad hated google hangouts and he wants the stock messaging app back, I guess I can only go with CM
also I cant install a keyboard from the market, because I cant even log in to my google account, I cant get through the setup without a few things crashing over and over again, every second or so. the keyboard doesnt even show up
delete the latinIme.apk from the zip file you are trying to flash and substitute it with one from the other roms you tried flashing.
I know how to control the delay with which the ringer starts but not screen :s
These commands I think only help when call ends but it doesn't hurt to try, add them (or check the values if already present)
to build.prop in zipfile before you flash it
Code:
ro.lge.proximity.delay=5
mot.proximity.delay=5
I am on kitkat right now and have no lag issue...have you tried changing kernel?

hey, thanks for your reply
I flashed Nameless ROM and surprisingly the lag issue is gone, and due to stripped gapps I flashed, I got the old messaging app back, which is quite the perfect combo, now the only thing I am missing is a good call recording app, is there a chance you can suggest one to me?
thanks again!

well I tried it out, the rom is nice and all, but my phone is extremely slow, the lag issue with phone calls is back, sometimes turning the screen off is impossible, or takes up to 2 minutes (!). turning it back on isnt much better either, I dont know what the problem is, the same thing happened on the BeanStalk ROM so I assume it isnt a software issue, but a hardware one, do you have any ideas what could be the problem and how can I solve it?
I want to tell you my experience about custom roms.
I don't know if you tried this combo: CM11 + kicos kernel (modified iodak's kernel) + minimal PA gapps
I works for me very well.

yeah, but shouldnt all the 4.4.2 ROMs be quite snappy? doesn't kitkat reduce the hardware requirements? why would JB work fine (or so I think, I'll go back to stock in a few mins and see) and KK be laggy as hell?
I've got a theory, I'm not a hardware guy and I dont know if I'm right or not, but:
could be that one of the cores is damaged and the system tries to switch some tasks to the damaged core (if android handles different cores the way I think) and that core doesnt really work the way it should, causing the entire system to work like a granny?

This is probably some wake/lock problem with software. Also on my o2x i've noticed strange lag when i press the power key it has lag until the screen comes on buttons below the screen light and after a couple of seconds the screen. It has 4.3 CM rom there if your father is using this phone i would suggest you some stock based rom with custom kernel. They should not have problems like these.

That still the best sollution for him - optimized kernel with stable ROM. He probably isn't techno freak?

could be, however, it isnt only for the power button, when the screen is off and a call is coming, it needs a few seconds for the screen to turn on, after the call is done, the system is all choppy and laggy. Turning the screen off after that is also nearly impossible, due to power button malfunction. I went back to stock for now and I'll see if the lag is gone, if it isnt, then its probably a hardware issue.
edit:
yeah, I'm on stock 4.1.2 and the issue isnt gone.
crap.
sounds like a problem in the timing the processor uses for scaling frequencies...
hav no idea what could be causing it unless you have some kernel tweak app and set wrong values
Have you tried clean flashing the Roms you installed? Have you Factory-Reset, Cleared cache, cleared Dalvik cache, and maybe did a system partition format before flashing?
