Hi all,
Here's a odd little issue I was wondering whether anyone else was experiencing. I'm running MIUI 1.12.30 and I recently bought a new Micro SDCard for my IncS. Thing is, since installing the SDCard, the phone has been slow to wake from standby - you press the power button to switch the screen on and it takes a few seconds (sometimes up to ten) for the phone to return to its normal responsiveness. Until that point, the phone lags noticeably. This can vary, sometimes you can leave the phone for 1/2 hour and it's fine, other times you leave it for a few minutes and it's laggy.
Anyone else have this issue?
I know miui is fast rom but it is weekly updated n buggy..use niks 3.0 rom..smooth like a g6!

I had no problems with the ROM prior to installing the new SDCard, and I've been using it for a while now.
What class sd card is it? If it has a low read write speed that would be your culprit as certain apps installed to sd card might be lagging you out.

Class 4. Not sure how fast that is, really...?
Out of curiosity why would installing an app to the SDCard cause the phone to lag when unlocked? Wouldn't it lag all the time, or is that not how it works?
Well class 4 and 6 have a read write at about 4mbs while the class 10 that came with your phone is running at approx 10mbs. Roms use system folders undr the android directory on your sd card to log information and most of your google apps are located there as well. I'm not exactly sure all that is stored on your sd card all I know is it effects Rom speed.

I don't have it to hand to check, but I'm pretty sure that the sdcard that came with my phone was a class four or six. I'm pretty certain it wasn't a class 10.

I have miui 1.12.30 and 32g class 4 sandisk card, with no problem. It sounds like your SD card is not working as fast/stable as it should be. What brand is your card and where you bought it? It may not be a genuine class 4 I guess.
By the way, regarding class 10 SD card, I would not recommend it cos most of the class 10 card is built based on the sacrifice of random read/write speed to achieve fasting large file access rate. In other words, while you may find copying music, photos to/from SD card becomes faster, but loading game will be much slower which determined by random read/write speed.

It's a SanDisk, I brought it from Amazon Marketplace. To be honest, a dodgy SDCard was going through my head to. Damn.
I've head that about Class 10 cards, actually. Was probably going to stick with the Class 4.

Yeah I dunno dude thought mine was but I could be wrong, I can guarantee you anything higher than a 4 will perform better than a 4.
If your really concerned weather or not its your SD card you could duplicate them and see what happens with each.
Read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1150369
You might change your mind. Basically depends on what you store on your card you might need to choose lower class card. Bigger does not always mean better.
I can't comment on amazon, but I had a lot of trouble with counterfeit 32gb microsd cards off ebay.
The cards would appear the right brand and speed, and would be formatted to appear as 32gb, even though the actual size would be far less (512mb etc). Cards would "work" as expected, until you start writing data to the part that doesn't exist.
Try formatting the card and/or speed testing it on a pc to know for sure.

as said, just make sure none of the apps that you run in the background are on SD card, maybe youve moved your lockscreen or home app to SD card by mistake if you arent using the stock MIUI one?
i never put anything on SD card that i use on a regular basis or want access to quickly
Well, incase anyone is remotely interested I bought another SDCard from Amazon, but this time from Amazon.co.uk, rather than from a seller. Not only does it look more legit, but the issue with the lag upon wake seems to have gone.
Looks like the issue was the SDCard being a dodgey one.

When I save pictures to the internal memory, it takes about 2 seconds. When I use the Storage Card, it takes 30 seconds+. Using 1m setting.
Is this normal or do I have a very slow storage card?
ps. I did search and read the wiki.
!!Solved!! See post #5
Bump!
Someone must know something about this.
More info needed
If you provide further info it'll enable an informed response. What are the details of your card? How does it perform when in its USB card reader? Have you wiped it and repartitioned/reformatted it? Have you tried any other cards in your Kaiser and if so how did that go. My camera takes nowhere near 30 seconds to save even max resolution pics to either my 6 GB or 16 GB Sandisk cards so something is not right.
***Edit*** Glad you solved it. I take the lesson from this to be, if any additional software has been installed and/or configured (which it's important to divulge), get rid of those changes before testing again. Perhaps the transfers are to fast for the card to handle so it's having to send the file multiple times before it's finally received without any data being lost? Not sure how this works, just a guess.
hi
try this,
after turning the camera on, turn the the screen off using the on-off button for about 5 sec. after you turn it on, the camera will be much faster!
I use 3 mexapix and it lags 2 to 3 sec.
Problem is a setting in Tweaks2K2
I found the problem was a setting in Tweaks2K2.
The setting is here:
System Tricks
System Tricks
Collection 5
Speed up sd/mmc transfer rate [Do not check this!]
If this is checked, my SD card gets really slow. It is supposed to increase the transfer block size and speed up the SD card but on mine it slows the card down badly.
After I unchecked this, a 3 mega pixal picture saves in a fraction of a second.

I do not see it in Advanced Config or Kaiser tweak, only in 2K2.
I've got a few questions about installing to NAND vs running it from the SDcard with heret, I'll add the answers under the questions once they have been answered
-What's the difference in battery life?
-Does windows mobile unload completely?
-What's the performance difference
-Is there a difference in running memory size'
-Is it possible to switch the install to NAND from SD and viceversa without user data loss

1. It's about the same
2. Yes it's completely gone from your phone.
3. It's faster from nand
4. no
5. yes
I get much better battery life on nand. better than wm. maybe its just me.

Same here, except when i use a 2.1 build, they drain my battery like crazy. But MYN's donut gives me way better battery life than any wm rom.
that's cause they still haven't quite perfected 2.1 yet. but myns build is near perfect! and the speed on nand is amazing

more like definite battery improvement!
my phone actually lasts a whole day!
WITH heavy phone usage
but now that opera mini 5 is on the market.
the battery should last even longer now
no more having to load a whole page
just images of the sites! haha
The only thing that I would disagree with previous posters is on the speed issue. To me this is all dependent on the quality of your SD Card and your setup.
With a class 6 SD card (even without partitions) I saw little difference in speed when I flashed to the NAND, OTOH I'm sure people with slower cards saw vast improvements.
Getting ready to go to NAND...
I've been running from my SD card for several months and now getting ready to take the plunge by installing Android to NAND.
Questions...Once you install to NAND:
1) do all Apps get installed to NAND or can some get installed to SD?
2) I assume that you can still reference music and other files on the SD card?
3) Are there any drawbacks to going to NAND? Wiping windows from ROM is not a concern.
Looking forward to NAND.
Thank you for your advice!
i made the switch from sd to nand last week, and boy, what a difference!
battery life:
i used to get about ~12 hours with sd, with no data, no browsing, and limited texting
with nand, i have synchronization turned on for both gmail and work email, do tons of browsing, games, and making calls, and still have ~70% after 12 hours
stability:
my phone used to freeze up about once a day (sometimes up to 3 times) with sd install, since nand install, i haven't had one freeze up
definately worth the switch to nand!

Great! Getting ready to unlock my phone.
there should not be a significant battery difference nand vs haret IF you are using the same kernel. I suspect that people who note the difference changed from an older zimage kernel to a newer NAND kernel (.nbh), as there were significant battery improvements in the last 3 or so kernel updates. i agree with other posters that you probably won't see a significant difference in speed if you are running a fast sd card, maybe a small one.
i personally use nand, cause I have no use for win mo anymore.
I have to disagree with the others. I used the same date nbh as zimage and after flashing I get about 6 more hours of battery. and I have a good sdcard. on startup it even says [new high speed sdcard installed] my old 512mb card never said that. so I do have a really good sdcard and again, after flashing, its much!! faster!!!
has anyone had issues with loosing connection to their service provider with a flash? I'm on verizon and doing a hard reset on the phone has made me loose my information and have to call to get it reset up before. If that happens we have to flash back to winmo to fix it?

I'm on sprint I have that problem only if i flash to stock winmo then out to another rom without loading winmo, letting customizations run, then making a data connection, if i do that then flash then i have no problems. But i can flash from rom to rom with no provider data loss
Sorry to revive an ancient topic . I'm really thinking about making the switch from haret to NAND but I would really like to keep my data. The second post in this said that you could keep your data. Is that true? If so I'm flashing it tonight!

1. All apps do get installed to the NAND, and you can move some apps to sd in the applications settings
2. Yes, you can, altough i haven't had much luck with video (maybe because my sd is class 2? it plays for 1 second and then freezes, but sound still goes, and when i try to push something, it force closes)
3. NO DRAWBACKS WHATSOEVER please go with froyo
I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem, my OB seems to freeze 9 out 10 times I try to record something, everything's stock and I haven't changed anything, using adw launcher and whenever I press the record button, it freezes and the timer stays at 0.00 and about a minute later it would skip to 1.00 and the video would be recorded with major stutters and off sync sounds, I'd have to perform a battery pull sometimes as it does not respond to anything at all. Using a class 10 Transcend 16 GB sd and I have formatted the card through the phone but the problem's still there. The problem comes and goes and it seems to work best when I allow it to focus before recording but this does not work most of the time.
Edit: Only happens in 720p mode... Other than that, everything's fine...
Same thing also hapening on my device
Might be related to your actual SD card. Any chance you can get a spare card for a couple of days (even if it is a lower-class one) and try out the recording function? this way you could safely say if it is the card or the phone causing the issue (process of elimination)
Im having this problem too, and i use class 10 card
Sent from my LG-P970 using XDA App
Try to upgrade the V10X version.
Figured something out, formatted my sd with SD formatter and recorded 3 720p 5 minute videos, smooth without stuttering... And the issue seems to be gone for now... Hope it stays this way... Also, back up any stuff in the card and once it's done formatting, take a pic to let android create the necessary files and copy everything apart from the files created... You can keep your apps and files this way... If you need to have pics in your phone, just put them anywhere but the DCIM folder... I don't know if this has anything to do with the problem at all but that's what I did... Hope this helps
XDA doesn't let me post outside links lol... New user here...
Just search for SD Formatter 3.0 from sdcard.org...
Hi all, and Happy New Year.
Let me explain the problem. I got 8 GB memory card Class 4. My phone is rooted with Froyo Pro v1.1. Before that i was with 2.2.9 CM Floyo v0.25. Everything works fine in the start. My memory card is full at 50%. Music and videos general. I've downloaded a few apps like no more than 15 and moved them to SD. And everything start to work slow. I am with included Launcher Pro. When I connect my phone to the computer to transfer files, when i disconnect the phone I am waiting for about a minute for the phone to mount the SD card and usually i get Force Close for the Launcher. My browser works slow, almost impossible to browse normaly. When I restart the phone usury I get force close for the launcher and wait for 2 minutes to boot after I enter my PIN code. I keep internal memory with about 100MB free space and ram memory between 30 - 50 mb. But still no difference. Yesterday I unmounted the SD card and browser everything increased it speed more than 50%. Like I just installed the ROM. Mounting the SD card bring the slow situation. So any ideas is this normal or should do something.
u can try this...
format sdcard..(don't perform quick format)FAT32
then try to see what happen (on phone)
if the speed good , now move slowly your files (I mean one folder by one folder)
ie: move picture folder and test...then move song then test...
until u find where the problem came..
Hi there. You know, something interesting happened. Iv'e made some changes in the Build.prob, for some other reason, rebooted the phone, and now it work noticeable better. I don't know what I did, just change some values for manifacture phone model bring them to stock values, nothing special. I put it to the test and it works fine. I will test it next days and I will post if it keep working that way. Even astro refreshes folder in a instance. Mystery at all
Mine was 8 GB, and works fine... Sometimes showed SD Card damage on status bar. I didn't worry just need to restart.

Hello. I have a question regarding my phone that is constantly running out of storage space and have to use cleaner almost daily. I would like to be able to install more games and other apps but I can't do that due to low internal storage space. I bought a sd card (32 GB) in the hope of installing or moving apps to It. Unfortunately I can't do either. I moved all other files to it but it's not enough. My phone is not rooted and no free program I have tried successed (thought rooting could help). Do I have to buy a new phone to get possibility of using more amount of apps or is there another way? If I have to buy a new phone, recommend me something please. I would like to get a phone with a comparable CPU and GPU or maybe better, at least 4GB+ and 64GB of internal storage or more. It has to be a budget phone but upgrade should be viable.
Hello, I'd like to asked to if you guys also experience this:
Whenever I try to maxxed out the volume and play something whether its a video or music, the phone just reboots right after.
Idk what happened but before I noticed those kind of stuff to happen in my Redmi 9. I just previously fixed it from bootloop w/o recovery & w/o fastboot due to downgrading from MIUI 13.0.5 CN ROM to MIUI 11.0.4 GLOBAL ROM.
So I was wondering whether it was a software issue or hardware issue in this case the battery. Idk if someone had ever tried this but I've watched a similar problem got fixed in youtube w/ Redmi Note 9 instead
with soldering or reheating the fuse within the battery.

Before, Android can still do that transfering apps + associated data to the sd card iirc it was Jellybean. Lol
But right now you can still do that but i think you need some root access correct me if im wrong. Though that is still not advisable cause accessing those apps would be much more slower or rather laggy than installing your apps within the internal storage.
One way to not run out internal storage is to transfer all "passive/static" files like photos/music/videos to your sdcard. The ones that are left for your internal storage should be the apps only that is if you want to install more apps in your device. Also you can set where the files should be saved everytime you take photo or video or download files, and set them to sdcard.
