Use UOT kitchen, or copy the framework-Res.apk and manually change it (do not unzip, use winrar or 7zip to drag and drop the modified PNG back into the zip)

It works two ways. The XML is either coded to be linked to a status bar image if it is then you can decompile framework-res.apk using apk manager and just replace the image for the status bar. If it JUST a color it might not be linked to an image so you will have to decompile SystemUI.apk and edit the XML color hex. After you decompile the SystemUI.apk look for SystemUI\res\layout\status_bar.xml and edit it using Notepad++.
Hope this helps!

Status bar is a simple PNG edit, text would require a XML edit. I'll see if I can find the name of the status bar PNG a little later when I have some free time.

You have to click on battery or icon or whatever you want to change. Then just check each box you want to modify and make you changes (you can preview your changes as well) once you make all the changes you want then upload your framework-res.apk and systemUI.apk (from the rom your on, you can extract it by using a file system on your phone and navigate to system/app for systemUI and system/framework for the framework-res.apk. Then go to summary and make sure everything is green, if anything is red you'll have to investigate why, and submit your order. Click on "go to pickup page" and wait (anywhere from 3 minutes to 30 minutes)

The status bar is titled "statusbar_background.png" located in systemUI/res/drawable-hdpi folder

I was a themer for the Droid Charge and on that phone if you replaced the background image it wouldnt show up because the statusbar.xml was coded to read a hex color not an image.
The image is easy to find, its inside SystemUI.apk > res > drawable-hdpi > statusbar_background.9.
If it doesnt work its because its programmed to read a HEX color.
Good luck.

doesn't seem to work on my 6800 either... the old one worked though...
Edit:
OK, unlike the previous one... you should have the original SystemUI.odex file in it's proper place and everything works
(I had to rename it for the previous version to work)

The simplest way is to use the UOT KITCHEN (Not my work). That often requires some waiting time, though, and im not sure if it supports ICS touchwiz if ur using that.
If you want to do it manually it's unfortunately not only replacing a png in ICS, as the statusbar background is in xml, but I can tell you how to do that as well. Download and extract/install apk multi tool. (You might have to add Java to ur PATH). Then decompile ur systemui. Go to res/values/drawables and find the line status_bar_background and change the hex color to the value you want. Black is ff000000 and fully transparent is 00000000 i think. Semi transparent should be 50000000.

Ok please mod ics task manager and change date/clock to a blue colour. Thanks for your help btw.

In ClockworkMod Recovery, go to "install zip from sd".
Choose "choose zip from sdcard"
Select "ICS-JB_taskmanager_blue_clock-date.zip"
Enjoy !!!!!
It could be that the date hasn't changed to blue, if so, say it to me WITH A SCREENSHOT.

Yes, I see.
And what I also see, is that the color of the clock isn't the same as the other icons.
I am now modding it again to get the correct color (easy peasy).
The zip file, I don't know exactly. What I do know, is that I got the META-INF in the zip from another zip, a sample.
By the way, for the ICS/JB task manager, extract framework-res.apk from the zip and copy it to /system/framework/.
And I have the backup of SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk so if something goes wrong, ask me for them.
Oh, can I have /system/framework/twframework-res.apk also?

Dont worry, i already do a nandroid backup Now im gonna test ICS task manager and i will tell you the result.
Clock centered? nevermind, im prefer on right clock than centered clock.
Here's the (flashable) zip file with the blue clock AND date.
You may have to copy framework-res.apk (from the previous zip) to /system/framework/ if the ICS/JB task manager is gone (of course after flashing the zip file).

You can do this by de-compiling the apk and then changing the appropriate .png files inside the /res/ folder. The names can differ from apk to apk but in most cases you can distinguish what is what. After that is complete you have to recompile the SystemUI.apk and push it back into your system. Note that this assumes that you are using a deodexed ROM.

Yep it's deodexed it says in the thread you gave me ^^ And no it's not related to a setting in the phone. There are multiple folders in the /res folder you might need to edit several files. Try experimenting with them to see which combination gives you the best results. Also a nand backup would be good before doing this in case you want to revert. You can also just backup the original SystemUI.apk
