[guide]Hulu on Droid 3 - Motorola Droid 3

Found this in the boinic forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1269476
No need to follow those instructions this works fine for me with the newest FlashPlayer.
-Download hulufix10.3.186.6-Bionic.zip from the OP
-Extract hulufix10.3.186.6-Bionic.zip/data/flash/libflashplayer.so
-Copy and replace /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib/libflashplayer.so , rename the original if you'd like
-Install Dolphin Browser HD and set the useragent to Desktop
Sorry but not sue where to give credit, there are a few links and some other people mentioned.
enjoy
[edit]
So "unfortunately " commercials don't work, oh well.
cbs works, just watched an episode of StarTrek ENT. nbc, syfy, abc, and fox dont' work. And tbs and tnt want you to login with an isp account, so didn't try that.
Anyone have a Kindle Fire or a Nook Tablet want to try this? Probably getting one or the other.

Hulu on android?[now working]

thanks to helpful members evilspawn and h8rift and the origonal developer of the modified libflashplayer.so
i believe this is also covered in another related thread as well. im not a dev at all and im trying to learn this stuff. i will try to put this in an update script later with a browser.apk that has user agent option added to the settings that i found. if it works and i post it i will credit the dev of the modded browser and the dev of the libflashplayer.so file but i cant remember their names at the moment. now we need to beg our devs to cook this into some roms!

I got it to work great on my Captivate. Thanks for the instructions!
To the people who see /data/data as *blank*....make sure to do this in adb after setting Desktop user agent, extracting the .zip, and wiping FlashPlayer data via Titanium Backup...
Then browse to hulu.com, look up a show, and have at it!

this isn't my work (found it on another forum), but it worked on my rooted droid x!!!
Complete instructions (requires ROOT):
1) Set your browsers to use "Desktop" user agent; xScope has a setting for this in its settings page; for the standard browser you must type about:debug followed by the enter key in the URL bar, then go into setting and you should have the option to change it near the bottom of the settings screen.
2)Start with the current (v10.1.105.6) flashplayer installed from the market, use Titanium backup to wipe it's data, but leave it installed (back up first if you like)
3) Downlaod and extract liblibflashplayer.so from this zip (libflashplayer.so.fix.10.1.105.6.zip) onto your sdcard (..if link doesn't work, get it from the source link below these instructions)
4) Copy libflashplayer.so from sdcard to /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib/
(..if you have problems make sure the permissions for libflashplayer.so are rwxr-xr-x )
5) Browse to hulu.com and enjoy!
(based on xda thread / post: xda - android flash hex edited to look like windows )
NOTE:
Info / download on a hulu application launcher is here: [Fix] Hulu working + Flash.apk September 24 - Page 14 - xda-developers
All this app does is give you a hulu icon in your app tray that opens an embeded hulu web page from Hulu Player Widget
It will work (portrait only) when the flash fix described above is implemented; The app still has issues with full screen, lock screen, and sometimes has to be killed manaully as it doesn't exit properly (.. all are known bugs).

Dolphin Browser lets you change the user agent to android, iphone, or desktop in its settings.
Actually hulu doesn't own the license to make copyrighted content available to portable devices. Blame the studios, not hulu. The premium pay service that will be available is to offset the licensing fees they will be paying to the studios.

^As much as that doesn't make sense thank you for clearing that up. I don't mean you didn't make sense I just mean the laws don't make sense.
Copy right laws are stupid. The browser is html, so why should it be classified as mobile. As far as I'm concerned this is a computer that makes phone calls. I guess its only fear of the lawyers that makes them block android browsers. it seems like it only take more work and trouble and limits the user base by charging people.
I'm not against them charging, if its consistent, its just you can get a lot of it for free on tv and you can get it free on the internet, it doesn't make sense to make a distinction between one flash and html capable device and another based on arbitrary specs and fcc classification, what's the difference to the studio if I watch hulu on a net book over 3g our if I watch I on my phone or tablet over wifi? I didn't pay a studio when I bought my pc, I don't pay studio fees when I use my pc, why do I have to pay them when I use my phone to do the same thing?. It should be illegal to make these laws, infact I'd bet it could be easily beaten in a court, just no one will put up the legal fees to challenge the studios who would just find another way to make life miserable. Some times I hate what this country is becoming.
Ok that'd enough ranting from me for tonight.

does changing the settings make hulu work.
I could be wrong but...
Hulu uses Silverlight rather than standard flash. My understanding is that our current Android situation prevents us from having support for Silverlight and it will be some time before we do. It is something you can be sure WP7 will have due to Microsoft's connection but we will just have to wait.

Flash 10.1 is not available for eclair, froyo is required. I personally have not tested froyo + dolphin + hulu, but in any scenario, froyo is needed.
There is information in the following thread about using the stock froyo browser and changing the user agent to get hulu to work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819930 (I have not tried this either).

I'm using froyo, tried dolphin hd, tried changing user agent in stock browser, tried sky fire, tried fire fox beta, tried opera. None work.
Problem is that even if you get past the "your using android ..." Screen it doesn't recognize the flash player. Even though it is flash player 10.1 hulu says you don't have the flash plug in.
yes I have flash 10.1 installed, and yes I have it enabled. Rather than checking if the version is greater than the minimum version they must have a way to block the flash player build for android.

I have been trying to get hulu to work as well, tried all the different browswer tricks for each browser on the market and none work..
You can try surfing anonymously that way the server doesn't recognize you're on a mobile device. Try something like anonymouse.org
Hulu disabled the ability for folks to be able to use their service on mobile devices awhile ago.
I thought it was due to the fact that the mobile carriers were freaking out over the potential bandwidth jump in their networks?
Either way - your going to have to find some type of proxy that truly tricks Hulu into thinking your browsing from your desktop. I think it is doing some pretty hardcore checks now (OS, Browser, Flash Version etc..) and then it will let you watch.
Don't blame Hulu... blame the carriers that whined about it.

I did it and now I watch hulu on my rooted evo! Just make sure u follow instructions. Uninstall ur current flash first then download and install hacked one and also change the UAstring in whatever browser u use from android to desktop. Instructions are on the same post as the hacked flash file as to how to do that. It's slightly easier in Dolphin browser. One less step. Just go into settings and I think advanced settings and change UAstring. Enjoy!

[Q] prevent mobile NY Times redirect to full version?

Aloha All!
First, thanks to all y'all for all the helpful posts on making the Nook Color the best Android tablet it can be!
I want to use my nootered NC to browse mobile.nytimes.com. After setting NC's built-in browser to mobile (vs desktop), I can browse the site with no problems.
Thing is, the built-in browser does not support tabbed browsing, which I can't go without. So I tried installed Dolphin HD, but try as I might, I can't get it to stop redirecting from mobile.nytimes.com to the full version (replace "mobile" with "www"). Even if I change the Dolphin HD's User Agent to Android/iPhone/Ipad, it still redirects. (And yes, I tried Desktop user agent too.)
I also tried Miren Browser -- no luck there either.
So, can anyone recommend a decent tabbed browser for a nootered NC that won't redirect mobile.nytimes.com?
Alternatively, any magic setting in the NC or Dolphin HD to stop the redirect?
Mahalo,
-Dave

You can just use Opera Mobile, type the mobile address, and it'll take you there.
Dolphin HD won't change user agents correctly on firmware 1.0.1. They all work except Android if you're on 1.0.

Can Nookie Run ADE for borrowing books from Library?

Trying to follow directions to enable my Nookie to take out books from my local library. Directions say I need ADE. anyone successfully find/install it and take out books?
I had ADE installed and was able to download and read a library book - before I rooted my Nook. If I remember correctly it was kind of a tedious process (maybe just because I was a newbie to the Nook and the library eBooks), but I did get it to work. I haven't tried again since I rooted.
You don't need Adobe Digital Editions, I could never get it to install on my Autonootered 1.1 Eclair. But I found some instructions when I googled around. You do need some kind of reader like Akido (the free one works, the paid one has more features). You just go through the checkout process with the library, select to download the book. It pops up a screen that looks like a trashed web page, but you select to save it. Then you use Astro or something like that to navigate to the saved file and try to open it, and you can at that point associate the file extension with Akido. Then the book opens up for reading in Akido.
How to do it
I download from library with ADE. Use warez to remove DRM, then move books to Nook and read with Nook for Android app - not Stock reader. I have 100s of book from multiple libraries now.
The warez is Python based. look it up.
Missed that this was a Q about nookie!
move along, nothing to see...

Book works on stock reader but not on Nook for Android in CM7

Recently after my SD card somehow killed itself after installing the ManualNooter thing for the 1.2 update (I really don't think it was their fault, by the way) I decided to just take the plunge and start using CM 7 on a regular basis (in other words, heck with dealing with the B and N updates). Very impressive by the way, it's much more stable for me than it was when I first tried it shortly after it was released.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had ever had a book that worked fine on the stock Nook Color software not work with the Nook for Android marketplace app? It's the weirdest thing. It downloads fine (as do all my books) but just won't load. All my other books work. If anyone has any ideas, please share them, it's driving me crazy. I've tried everything I can think of (reinstaling app, logging out and back in, deleting the book completely and redownloading...) short of trying another SD card, since I don't have spare at the moment.
It's a complete collection of Sherlock Holmes, by the way. Great stuff.
I found a solution! I'm going to share it here in case anyone else runs into this problem with a book. What I ended up doing was decrypting the book and then copying it to the My Documents folder within the Nook folder, it worked after that (although that begs the question "Why on earth didn't it work in the first place?"). I kind of think we aren't allowed to link to such things so I won't, but I did a quick search and found an absurdly easy to use suite of tools for decrypting eBooks one has purchased from various sellers.
Alright, not to bump my own topic, but this information is somewhat related. I keep seeing people say that Magazine Subscriptions don't work on the Market reader. While this is true in that you can't make them, or download the magazines, I've found that I can use the website to manage/download the magazines (well, that and subscribe to things), and they work perfectly fine if I then copy them into the documents folder within the Nook folder on my SD card. It's less convenient, but there you have it. Why they don't just add full magazine support in I'm not sure.
Just a tip. My next step after 'fixing' the previous book was to see if my magazines worked.

Are you saying that B&N Magazine Subscriptions can be used with the Android Nook app under CM7?
Can you link to where you download magazines? What file type does it download as?
Another problem with the B&N Android app is that you don't see the book cover for all the sideloaded books in the MY Documents folder. It shows up just fine on the stock reader.
Anyway, I've given up on the B&N market app. Started using Moon reader and Aldiko.

Well, if you sign into your account on the Barnes and Noble website, you can go to the newsstand to subscribe/unsubscribe to magazines and what have you (since you can't on the app itself). If you go to your Library when logged in, you'll see all your books. You have to click on the Magazines heading on that bar on the left there to see them (This link should take you there). You should see a download button for the current issue as well as a recent issues thing you can click on to get past issues you've received.
As for your second question, it's an ePub, though as a sidenote the DRM is different than what's used on the regular books apparently (or at least SOMETHING is different). Still works when read in the Market B&N app though (it HAS to be in the My Documents folder. Won't show up otherwise, in my experience). It is true that you won't see the cover, but to me that's a minor annoyance compared to it not working at all.

It's not in the magazine section of your Library on the Barnes and Noble website? Also, you won't see a link in the Nook app itself for magazines. After I got it from the website I had to copy it to the appropriate folder on the SD card (as said about "Nook/My Documents"). Also, make sure you refresh on the first screen of the Nook app in order to get it to see them. Sometimes it takes a second.
*edit*
Another way you can do it is to use the PC Nook program to download it (since it supports magazines). After you download the magazines in that case, you'll find them in your Documents folder, in "My Barnes & Noble eBooks\[email protected]"

Aaaaaah...apparently some subscriptions are Nook Color only, some aren't. I apologize, I only just now realized this. I tried a trial subscription of PC Gamer and it did what you described...on the page for that magazine it says Nook Color under the "Read exclusively on this..." blah blah line on the page. The only subscription I tried ("Asimov's Science Fiction") is available on PC and everything else.
I'd guess that if you downloaded it with the stock Nook software you could copy it off and then read it on the marketplace app, but that doesn't do a fat lot of good I suppose. Sadly it looks like a bunch of them ARE Nook Color exclusive. I guess I just lucked out...sorry to get everyone excited. It's too bad there's probably no way to spoof yourself as a Nook Color.

No, if you click on the name of the magazine/newspaper it will say part way down the page. When I said "tried" I should have said "looked at on the webpage". You might have to click on it, the thing that says something like "Read Exclusively on these apps and devices:" in the little informational section next to the picture.
This is unfortunate that only some newspapers work and others don't. Chicago Tribune is available on nook for android but my WSJ is not. Gonna have to keep my dual boot BN1.2 stock and CM7/2.3 and flip back and forth. Arghhh!

ps3 controller to nook color via bluetooth

Before i get started, i cant post a link since this is on my nook with stock version since i was on my way to a barnes and noble and i didnt know if i could use the free internet feature with a rooted nook soninleft my sd card home. Anyways, i found some instructions in how to connect a ps3 controller to the nook color but the app for it is two dollars. You also need cm7 since this is via bluetooth
1st. Google gbatemp.com
2nd. Scroll down until you get to the section called mobile phones and media players.
3rd. From the first to options click on andriod.
4th. Now you have to get to the eigth page so click next seven times.
5th. Scroll down the page until you get to an article called ps3 controller on andriod via bluetooth.
Again im sorry for no link but ill try to get it asap since there is no elecrtcity in the east coast at the moment and let me know how it works.
EDIT: it does work but with slight screen lag in high graphic games. Also no link because i cannot get it to copy and paste in cm7 browser. If someome could kindly post the link it would be great.
EDIT: sixaxis download alternative.
First go to 4shared and create an account in order to get the file.
Then search sixaxis.apk just like that and it should be the first and only one there.
Now wait for twenty seconds and then click download.
When it finishes, find the file and install it.
Note: this works with any app as longs as there is .apk at the end
