Hi all,
this is a CM9 KANG built for the GT-P7500 (3G) model.
What does KANG mean, I hear you asking? It means I'm not the one responsible for the code behind this ROM, it's all CyanogenMod/pershoot/isimobile (as noted below).
I "only" compiled it and wrote this nice post, sharing my KANG along the way. Hope you will like it!
All credits to the CyanogenMod team and Pershoot, they're the real heroes.
Credits to isimobile as well for the 3G stuff. All you guys are great, keep up the awesomeness!
Needless to say, don't bug the CyanogenMod team about bugs (pun intended).
Also, neither I nor CM will be held responsible if your Tab explodes (or any other unfortunate side effect).
That being said, it should work beautifully
What is working:
- 3G
- WiFi tethering
- HW video decoding
- Quite a lot more
Not working:
- Camera
Bugs:
- For auto-brightness to work, lock/unlock the screen once.
- Searching for network providers doesn't work.
How to install:
Do a FULL WIPE/FACTORY RESET & WIPE CACHE in CWM if coming from another ROM!
If coming from any previous version of this ROM, full wipe/cache wipe shouldn't be necessary.
Then, flash in this order:
ROM
Gapps
Kernel modules (optional)
without rebooting between flashes.
Additional info:
To get 3G working, make sure you have the right APN with the right settings for your network provider selected.
For the most part this is autodetected but sometimes it's not detected properly.
Kernel modules are optional. If you want support for things like nfs, ps3 controllers etc... flash this. You will have to do the modprobing yourself (in a terminal window: first get root access with su, then modprobe <modulename-without-.ko>)
cifs.ko, ntfs.ko and tun.ko got moved into the ROM, no need for modules zip if you just want those.
To get your Tab to show up on your computer when connected via USB, goto Settings -> Storage -> click the three dots in the upper-right corner. Enable MTP or PTP.
Looking for a changelog? There's no changelog in the traditional sense but the latest merged changes can be seen here: http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#q,status:merged branch:ics,n,z (ignore all android_kernel_* and android_device_* projects) & https://github.com/pershoot/
Don't flash the kernel from Pershoots thread on this ROM. The latest kernel is included in this ROM already. The one in Pershoots thread is for Honeycomb.
Bandwidth kindly provided by my friend snapcase. Thanks man
Download (latest):
ROM: GT-P7500-CM9-KANG-032512-maba.zip - 121 MB (MD5: coming)
Requires CWM recovery from here (flash in Odin via "PDA" button). Thread by pershoot here
Refreshed CM sources, with new official boot animation
WiFi fixed, FOR REAL this time Pershoot has worked very hard on it, please thank him! WiFi Direct not working though at the moment.
Fewer graphical glitches (opening recent apps on home launcher still glitches)
Voice search fix is now obsolete; upgrade gapps to a newer version instead
Kernel modules: GT-P7500-CM9-KANG-032512-maba-kernel-modules.zip - 6.7 MB (MD5: coming)
Modules will be installed to /system/lib/modules, this will make modprobe find them properly
Gapps:
Download gapps from here
Download one of the newer gapps from that page (one of the gapps-ics-2012* files).
If doing an upgrade from an earlier version of gapps, be aware that upgrading gapps can make your tab unbootable. In this case you have to wipe data!
Remember to make a backup before upgrading gapps just in case!

from the other thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21717652&postcount=745
This is not an "older kang". This is freshly compiled from cyanogenmods and pershoots git, with the added code from isimobile and related build config to get 3G working for the GT-P7500 device.
So it's not AOKP in any way, this is "stock" CM9.
Anyway, I'm gonna get some sleep now, it's 4AM here and I'm off to work in ~3 hours.
are you serious right now... you mean the only thing wrong with this is the camera, the. Back camera right the front camera is working or what?
Just posting to confirm that htis indeed works perfectly on the T-Mobile Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G. I am getting download speeds of around 11 mbps.

Installing on my GT-I9023 as we speak. And it boots. It actually bloody boots. As previously stated, Wi-Fi doesn't work. It will detect the networks, though, so it's possible that it can be sorted, I suppose. Face unlock works a treat, and the camera also seems to work. Good work by the original poster.

As far as bricking a device goes, that comes into play with flashing radios or zips with radios right?

Changes in version 1.00:
Update to latest CM sources.
Update to 3.1 kernel from Pershoot.
Front and rear camera working.
Phone might work. No possibility to test for me.

First time installing Ganbarou GT-P7500 CM9 to your Tablet (3g version), or coming from another ROM:
Make sure you are rooted. (Plenty of thread available about how to do it)
Make sure you’re running a proper working ClockworkMod-Recovery (http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/?p=2553). This is the latest (2012-05-24) that works with the device make sure you flash this recovery via ODIN.
Copy Ganbarou ZIP to your internal SDCard
Boot into Recovery
DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (First Time Users)
Flash Ganbarou zip
Reboot
Enjoy!
Upgrading from Cyanogenmod nightlies or Ganbarou nightlies:
Copy Ganbarou ZIP to your internal SDCard
Boot into Recovery
Flash Ganbarou zip
Wipe cache partition and dalvik-cache
Reboot

Looks very tasty...
Does the lockscreen functionality work, i.e., ability to set lockscreen app short cuts (targets). This wasn't working on a recent version of CM9 while this worked perfectly on Milestone. Also LCD density didn't work on CM9 and worked on Milestone.

I need to mention the required version of GApps in post #1. When you use Goo Manager (should work soon, I am testing it with the Mai 29 version) it will suggest the correct GApps version.
So far very stable and no random reboot...just one thing, is it just me or is flash not showing example on this xda website...I've tried to reinstall flash player but still not showing up.
Connecting to PC
Hi my friends, another "problem" is for me, that the Tab will not connect into MTB Modus to PC, Debugging works when i connect, but i can`t open my Tab as Harddisc-Drive on Windows 7 Ultimate, drivers are installed surely! Is there any chance to get it work!? In moment i have to use MobilePhone Explorer, but it`s not the best way to store datas between Tab and PC!

Just checked and you are correct. With this build of CM9 there seem to be a problem with flash. I will try to find out if CyanogenMod is aware of the problem or if it is only my build.

BeeGee, your rom is already unique due to Samsung Apps integration (waiting for official Touchwiz framework integration, of course). To make your rom even more special, you could modify Pershoot kernel to improve overclock capabilities. In my opinion our devices can reach 1.6 GHz and even more. That would be an interesting experience to make these tablets really fly.
Time ago, I read that Pershoot himself is not interested in overclock but he said that everyone could improve that, editing sources and rebuilding, so I assume that Pershoot wouldn't be upset if you modify it for your rom.
If my question was unpolite to you, I'm sorry.
Keep up the good work.

I tried my tablet on 1.4GHz and it got unstable, not sure if the 1.6GHz is really safe. Running it now on the standards (CPU Governor INTERACTIVE, Min CPU f=216, Max CPU f=1GHz) and my tablet already flies, my battery time is +12h with GPS and 3G all time on. Have to say that I use ADW launcher instead of the Trebouchet launcher, that might change the usage feeling as well.
For messing with a kernel I have to learn a lot more things, maybe someone with more experience can do it.

Thanks for your reply. I'm on 1,4 GHz since Honeycomb releases and haven't had any issue. Maybe stock production differs.
I will no longer be maintaining this port, as I have upgraded to a galaxy s3! If anyone wants to take over and or needs instructions for porting this ROM themselves, just send me a message!
Credits go to DerTeufel1980, be18, and all of the other International Galaxy S devs for Jelly Bean!
This is just a slightly modified version of the build for the International SGS (original thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775169)
Steps for flashing
For V9:
1a) If coming from another rom: wipe data/factory reset/format system/wipe cache/wipe dalvik cache
1b) If coming from previous version: delete folder /data/sys-parts before flashing (you should be fine without wipe, but delteing this folder is important), wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache
2) Flash ROM
3) Flash kernel
4) Flash addon (don't flash gapps from an other rom!)
5) Fix permissions
6) Reboot

- built from latest sources as of today (07/19/2012, 4 pm)
- /datadata partition now working
- google tts working now (pico tts already working before?)
- extended power menu
- more menus in settings (some of them still are not finished and lead to a force close of the settings)
- all kernel settings stick after reboot
- using "data-symlink-script" from RolluS to get everything into the rom many thanks for this.
V5
- based on the last release by pawitp (compiled rom is not booting atm, i hope this gets fixed soon)
- fixed notification sounds
V6
- compiled from sources of 23/07/2012, 2 pm
- new boot animation
- removed apex launcher
- fixed installing bug: no need for delting data/sys-parts anymore
V8
- compiled from sources of 25/07/2012
- moved some files from sys-parts back to system and the other way around (trying to optimize the use of /system space)
V9
kernel (1.0.4):
- hack mfc driver, to give all available mem to an application, if the requested mem is more than the max. available (maybe useful later, does not change anything right now (afaik))
- fix execution of boot-patch.sh, disabled twice execution of init.d, enabled tv-out server for all devices (i9000 already had this)
- battery: fix charging display for car dock
- increase read-ahead on moviNAND
Note: The back button is broken on the notification pull down!

Just flashed all the Fixes/Gapps on the release FE did a hour ago, and they all work.
But yes, same issues as you listed in the OP.
Wow this is so close to actually being a daily rom!

Great job man,downloading now .
If I didn't need a stable from for work, I would be all over this. I still may give in. See what a few days of testing brings in.

Try flashing glitch kernel on the rom you were on, and then flashing this.

Flashing Glitch kernel then the rom worked, I am going to install the rest of the steps.

Stupid Question: How do you take on phone screen shots? Like everyone else does.

I’ve been compiling some Cyanogenmod 10 builds for my tab recently and I've decided to share them here. The Cyanogenmod project is still under heavy development, so there will be bugs. Although I will be testing the wifi builds before I post them I may not be able to catch all bugs before I release the build; install these builds at your own risk and be aware of what you are doing. I take no responsibility for any damage caused by these builds. If I notice small bugs while testing I will make a note of them with the release. I plan on updating these builds every week or so.
Thanks to:
The Cyanogenmod team and pershoot- This is all their work, I am simply compiling their code.

NOTE: Pershoot mentioned in his build notes that the goo.im july 26 gapps caused problems with his installation. I have tested this package on my build and it is working just fine. I think the problem is fixed but if you have issues try the older package.
Instructions:
1. Make a nandroid backup and save it in a safe place.
2. Wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache.
3. Install ROM zip in CWM.
4. Install GAPPS zip in CWM.
5. Reboot
Note: A wipe is probably not required for every single build, but it can't hurt. Make sure you make a backup even if you don't wipe.

So far so good! Just a quick question. Is there anyway to just theme and change the battery to the circle mod or one like it? Thanks in advance!!
What kernel version is compiled with this build?
Not criticising, but was expecting front camera to work on this

If you go into Settings > System > Status Bar there is an option to change the battery status style. Unfortunately the percentage display doesn't seem to work but I'm sure CM will fix that soon. Your best bet for now is probably to enable it on the lock screen under Settings > Lock Screen > Battery status.

2.6.36.4, pershoot hasn't added the 3.1 kernel to the jellybean repository just yet.

I thought coffeebean's rom might have been the latest iteration of this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30240005#post30240005
If you look at the names. CM= cyanogen. That link is AOSP. Android open source. Totally differwnt
Thank you Coffeebeans, this one is all ready better then the last experimental from pershoot! I find it smoother and with better battery performance!! Sweet
i tried installing this :/ but i got Status 7 error on CWM6 it said some symlinks dont match , im using cwm6 that pershoot included

I've been using TWRP for a while. No problems so far but I haven't flashed anything since Pershoot's last build on droidbasement.com.
Is there a means to change the items in the notification popup menu (the one in the lower right that pops up when the clock is tapped). I know Maple got is right in AOSP, just not sure what he did. When I make it visible, it seems to truncate some of the options.
Nice work on the ROM.
Getting a lot of screen flicker all the sudden, not sure whats causing it or how to best diagnose it.

Awesome work Hash! Thanks for your continuing development for the D4. I've been checking every day religiously for more news on a more stable version of CM10 and today looks hopeful! Can't wait til these bugs get ironed out.
Thanks!
Thanks Hash! Any info on MMS (workaround, or eta on fix, still getting the "Destination address invalid")? Might want to mention that in the "doesn't work" section.
Thanks a bunch Hash! The work you do here is always much appreciated!!
I've made some screenshots from the latest build.
Looks like almost all works normally, except GSM
LED from flash - OK.
are there any workarounds for incoming call bug?

Just curious because I noticed this in your screenshots, but it says you only have 840mb of working memory. I know that sometimes memory shows less than installed, but we should have a 1 gig showing as installed memory.

This is normal, no matter which phone / ROM you are using
although there is 1GB of RAM, some is reserved for different purpose, like bootloader, video ram, etc....
so the actual usable memory will be less than 1GB
Too bad the d4 doesn't have a gyroscope... no photosphere

u have to edit the build.prop
set
ro.mot.lte_on_cdma=0
ro.mot.phonemode.vzw4gphone=0
ro.mot.phonemode.vzwglobalphone=1
ro.telephony.default_network=3
ro.telephony.gsm-routes-us-smsc=0
telephony.lteOnCdmaDevice=0
this will bring up APN options and let u use GSM
an other tip: if u search the developer/performance options u can go to Settings->About->Buildnumber (the last entry in the list)
and touch it 10 times (fast). this should enable the options
Nice work @Hashcode without u the Droid 3 and 4 wouldn`t rock so much
and will the batterybar added to this rom? i know its available as app but its more comfortable as option

No phone audio
I just installed a fresh copy of the 1/18/2013 build an I am not getting any phone audio.
I tried with bluetooth, Speaker and from the regular speaker.
Tried turning bluetooth off and rebooting and I get audio back, but as soon as I turn bluetooth back on I get no audio.
Any ideas?
