[Q] no su access on salsa - HTC Salsa

Hi
I have used HTC unlock bootloader method to unlock my HTC Salsa Icon G C510e and that worked fine with me.
Then I installem CWM recovery and falsh the custom ROM.
Then i tried to root my phone. everything went well no errors(atleast i could not see any on the screen)
Then isnstalled Link2SD, now here comes the problem. It now says that my phone is not rooted and Link2Sd cannot access root. I also installed Root Check app from and it said the same that my phone is not rooted.
I tried the whole procedure againa, no errors..
But the phone is not rooted (i guess so) or I still dont have root access.
can somebody please help..
Thank you very very much in advance

Download the latest superuser
And flash it via Recovery

Question..............did you flash the root.zip file?
if not theres your problem, thats what gives you root access. if you have then you got an error in the rom if you flashed another over your original....hope your making nandroid backups lol

Solved
Hi,
Thanks everybody for your replys. I could fix the problem by upgrading my SuperUser app.
In su app, i was getting a notification that su binary is out of date and when i used to hit the option to update the su binary from SU app settings, it used to fail.
The thing I did was to install SU again from Market and it worked.
Though i am not sure what exactly the problem was.

[Q] SuperUser update problem

Hello there,
Last Sunday I updated my SuperUser apk to the latest version and attempted to update the SuperUser binary to 3.0.6 through the SuperUser app. The update process failed, however, and left me without a working binary. The last 2 days I've been trying to get SuperUser back up using all sorts of things, such as flashing a .zip from the SuperUser website, pushing the contents myself, and using both SuperOneClick and FlashTool, but to no avail. I really need SuperUser because of the limited hard disk in the X8.
I was hoping someone knew of another way of fixing this problem.
Also, is restoring the stock ROM (which I'm using anyways) using PCC or SEUS an option to getting my phone fully unrooted so I can reroot it?
Thanks in advance, Thom
Yes, you can restore the stock ROM via SEUS or PCC, you can re-root later.
It happened to me on sunday when i update superuser, i was using gingercruzt... i lost the root access i was not able to restore all my apps with titanium backup! so, i reinstalled gingercruzt. luck!
For me updated su works fine. Just install and update binary.
Sent from my X8 using xda premium
when i updated the binary, i lost the root access too...
is not necessary restore the original rom.
step1:
make a backup
step 2:
just download “su-3.0-bin-efgh-signed” and flash via CWM
step3:
enjoy again
step4:
remeber never again update the [email protected]%& binary
http://goo-inside.me/superuser/
if it doesn't work, try other SU's like 3.0.1-bin
Hello, my firs post but not last . When I was root x8 15 days before, I installed xRecovery and link2sd, and another app. So, after I update superuser to 3.06, I lost root permissions. Now, there is no chance to access to xRecovery menu, with meny times clicking (I never didn't update android 2.1 to another version 2.2 or 2.3....).
Any help?
Does anybody know how to resolve this?? Please...

@Svartehjerte
Thanks for reply.
Yes, I am sure . What you think, whether to again try to root my x8 whit superoneclick?

(ROOT) Any version of android (kernel exploit)

In order to root your Nexus S (from Gingerbread to ICS!) I have made a script that all you need to do is launch with your PC! (credits to saurik for the exploit)
Hope this will help you
All you need to do, is run the script! Then, plug-in your phone (needs to be on with USD ADB DEBUG ON) and done!
You can download it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?qhefhtgs20fdtsd
This will root your phone, and then you can afterwards flash ClockworkMod from the market and then reboot into recovery =)
Peace be with you.

I'll test it later. Does this use fast boot to unlock?
And saurik? He's the king of cydia. He got the exploit?

It worked great, thanks guys
haha..rooted..thanx!!!!!!...
is there a way to make this work with a xoom?
When I try this it shows that it worked, but it doesn't seem to load properly since ROM manager says superuser not found. When I try to update the bineries it also fails on "checking current install path".. failed to find currently installed su binary.
Any ideas?
Edit: I'm running gb 2.3.6

does it work with all android phones.like xperia phone.
Thanks!
Just ordered my wife a Nexus S, will try this Friday and report back!
Nice!
Ran it and it worked. Well, ran it and then had to do a few things to prove that it had worked.
After running the script, you have to install Superuser in Google Play Store (Market). Then, I installed MyBackup Pro (paid version) which does a few more fancy things if it has root access. When I ran MyBackup Pro, it said that I have superuser access.
Sweet!
I ran this on a Nexus S i9023 running ICS 4.0.3.
It looks like root access remained after reboot. Pretty good!
COOL! Thanks for sharing! The Nexus is en route!

This is an early April Fool right? The Nexus S is completely open and doesn't need exploits to gain root. Unlock the bootloader then you can use fastboot to install a custom recovery image. Simples.
Hi there, have you made one for the MyTouch4G or do you know if one does exist for it ?
Thanks

Didn't work for me.
Ran the zip, plugged phone in. Downloaded superuser, and then Rom Manager. Rom Manager couldn't see root.
Modified version of this:
http://theunlockr.com/2010/12/17/how-to-root-the-samsung-nexus-s/
worked for me.
I had to transfer Rom Manager to the phone via email because I couldn't get it to download anything from the market on wifi. Flashed recovery through CW. MIUI is now on the pone.
SWEET!
got it to work to install ota 4.0.4 manually via cwm...only thing is i lost root and it seems this exploit doesnt work on ota 4.0.4 so i cant run it again...
this is cool
thanks for this man...i used it when i got 4.0.3 and worked well on my i9023...ini 4.0.4 it diddnt work...but i restore back to 4.0.3 and installed voodoo ota root keeper from the market...and i restored the the root ran with the script in this poost in one click in 4.0.4 . awsome
Does it wipe your phone in the process?

That requires wiping your phone, and unlocking your bootloader. Appears this works with a locked bootloader.

[Q] 4.0.4 XT890 - My device is "rooted" but the root isn't working.

I rooted my XT890 which is on 4.0.4. I don't know what it's called that I used to root it with and I don't have the same exact download link but it's the only one on the internet that doesn't require you to flash anything.
So I ran that and I thought I had my phone rooted. The major problem is that most apps that require root privileges don't work. The only root app that works is busybox. On other ones, the superuser permission prompt will pop up and will I press "allow". Then, it will say "[whatever program] has been granted superuser permissions". After that, whatever superuser requiring app I'm using will go to an error the same way it would on a completely stock un-rooted phone.
Will buying superuser elite fix it?
Will un-rooting and re-rooting by flashing a homemade fastboot fix it? If so, how do I un-root?
Can anybody help?
Did you solve your problem?

Hi, obviously we had a similar problem (
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42529975#post42529975) and I am not sure about how to tackle the problem. Did you find a solution for your rooting problem? If yes I am curious how you solved it.
Cheers

Nope I never figured it out.
It seems that most superuser apps aren't compatible with x86 Android unless the developers have specifically taken steps to solve it. Since RAZR i users make up an incredibly small amount of android users, almost no one bothers to make their root apps work.

That link above will install you cwm if you don't already have it then with that you can flash either the RAZR I Root or RAZR I Root 2 .zip... It just depends which one is for your ROM and I didn't link because I couldn't find it or have it bookmarked anymore but if you find it and flash it through cwm it will definitely work

Cause you are on ICS (4.0.4) you have to follow the instructions from this thread

There is a way with unlocked bootloader and one without

Help rooting after following XDA video

I followed the XDA rooting video for my HTC M7 (4.4.2). Nothing showed errors and everything went well until I used a root check app. They reported I wasn't rooted.
I tried weaksauce but it reported I was rooted.
I went ahead and installed xposed framework. Tried to update and it said I wasn't rooted.
I unlocked my bootloader.
I flashed cwm.
I put the su 3.1.2 zip on my phone and went into cwm and installed from the zip file. No errors etc.
Restarted my phone and SU app is there.
But I don't have any root. Tried pressing the build number in phone settings to unlock developer settings - there's nothing mentioning root in there like one site said there would be.
Now I am stuck.... can someone help please?
