You are not supposed to change the updater-script at all! I already updated that in the Build How To. Simply take one from another ROM and it should work fine Kitchens updater-script is not compatible with our device. Maybe dsixda will update it once
i know
it is great for htc phones
but one thing
i like singapour v20 roms
other roms updater scripts work fine with v20f and before...
but v20g and v20h dont. it has bugs.
wifi gives error
fcs with system apps etc.
i think something changed after 20f
and i tried latest v20 roms
they have bugs too
such as tantrums made this fail (i think)
he made 20h flashable zip
but it has same bugs which i have
can you look into this?
it is tantrums's rom

Here's a guide to cook a rom:
1-Download any rom you want
2-Put it on your phone
3-Boil some water and throw your phone into it.
P. S. This is the fast way.......
The slow way needs a little bit more effort, like finding the manuals and actually read them
(sorry, just couldn't resist)

yes..
Just taking a previous updater script won't always work. You need to edit it manually. The format is very readable and straight forward.
Look at a nandroid from the ROM your using to look at symlinks, permissions etc.

First don't be to hard on new users/posters , there is a time in life we all are newbies.
Correct that this should be posted in Q&A but you could just ask a mod to move it.
Now about the question;
I recieved my official ICS update or you flash a kdz V30A file on your phone. (how? look in the dev section)
Then I installed the unlocked bootloader (with nvflash), then I installed custom cwm 5.028e(with nvflash). Now I made a full nandroid backup.
Now I got a full system dump where I can start and build in root and init.d support and........
Then I made a cwm flashable zip.............
The rest is up to you.

There are several mods bt require individual replacement of files and changing of permissions
I intend replacement of a system app wid the new app
Regarding second question of mine
Is it possible to have cwm recovery that can work without switching off the device ( make a nandroid backup takes a lot of time in my xu almost 20 minutes during which the network is off)

What you should do is download a theme for the xu and just leave the META-INF folder in the theme.zip alone and edit the rest of the folders to your liking.

Not really. Just use 7zip. The Apks are the ones that usually need to be signed. As long as you use the original theme.zip you would download and just replace apks inside you shouldnt have any problems
