Hi. I'm currently using MIUI rom.
But its battery drain can't be help. Thought of using cm7 kang.
But the outlook of cm7 bores me as im used too have it on my optimus one..

OK i think it CM7 is out of the picture. I am on CM7 at the moment and I do like MIUI but it is very integrated and sensitive. Have you tried vandonkas kernel on miui? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427646 or check my thread for other alternatives http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1460147
CM7/KANG (by Temasek) is my last choice... and my best one (IMHO) - Battery life with custom Kernel "CherryPicks" (I didn't try the stock one) is very nice.
A well balanced performance/batterylife one, with all CM7 options, spare parts and so on...
Hope this helps (a bit )
Try MIUI or CM7 with Vadonka's kernel. Should give pretty good battery life
Thanks for the replies.
I'm using back swiftextreme kernel back because its more lag free.
Do you guys recommend me the v20o stock with horse power kernel? :B

I don't use Stock roms anymore, even wiith v20L/O, but read some posts and impressions seems pretty good. With HP Kernel you can expect good performance, but no sure about the BatteryLife...
and if you need continuous improvements/battery balance, the custom ROMs and Kernels will give more choice - in my humble experience...
The battery life is indeed excellent with spica's or fps kernels! Three days and even more have been reported. If you use the phone a lot spica's sr1 or sr2 is very good, and the the pre-12 seems to be even better.
The problem with the stock ROMs it's the slowly fluency a pair of days later.
MIUI with vadonka's kernels has a battery save impressive and with a great fluency all the time.
The people speak very well about spica's kernels, it can be a good choise.

this is a great ROM...with HP and either ICS or Swish...
infact the SR2 and the RC-11R both works great....i have 2days and 18hrs now and still left with 41% battery perf.....good work Carburano
can we use vandonkas or spica's or fps kernels with stock 20l ?

spica / fps = yes
vandonkas only if you want bootloop (CM only)
so with stock 20l or stock 20o which one do u suggest for stability no lags and good battery life.

I wanna to open this thread to share experiences about V20L in combination with mod kernerls, packs, fixes, etc ... in order to know compatibilities and progresses with STOCK GB V20L.
These are my experiences with v20l;
SPICA KERNEl sr1: So good so far, I see some lags on slow scrolling, everything else work good (WIFI, GPS (not as fast as topos room))
NEOBLAZE KERNEL: The most stable kernel Ive prove with v20l. (not as fast as spica)
SPICA KERNEL RC8: Fas...t pretty fast, good memory manage but I also notice some slow scrolling issues.
SPICA HP PERFORMACE PACK: Almost necessary if you decide to go with spica's kernerls.
STOCK KERNEL: Not bad at all, but the others are just better
I Cannot test complete cycles with battery life, but seems to be pretty close to stock froyo
And you people?, what can you share? spica, neoblaze or stock, ext3 or ext4, battery life?
I'm running V20L plus horse power sr1 for a few days now, but you are right with a few lags from time to time. So I'll go back to topogigi 2 SP3 today. This combination is still the best for me at the moment. Snappy, fast and stable
I'm running V20L stock odexed with HP RC8 Kernel + HP Kernel Performance Pack.
This combination is really great!
i think for right now spica is the best choice, especially his performance pack it's nice one eventhough it's ext2
SPICA RULESSSS with topo sp3
I have tried most of these combinations.
The stock-stock is very stable, only downside that it cannot be overclocked.
BTW were can I find the stock kernel by it self?

whick pack are you using?
I'm running SR2 Kernel and Performance Pack V6 (first V2, then flashed V6).
It's really good!
Hi, my girlfriend wants me to flash her sgs with a new rom as her stock rom has become very laggy in the past month. What is the best gingerbread rom for speed, stability and battery life? I'm currently leaning towards F1 Innovation HD V7.
Thanks.
There are many good roms, my favorites are:
- SauRom
- Amestris
- Hybrid v12
- Tsunami

Which darky version do you use? and how long does the battery last on average?
For me the best is miui mintberry...stable smooth and good battery whit average use

and the winner is.......... miui mintberry.
I like it so much!!!
Just install ICS best rom ever for the i9000 i didn't even use GB i have skipped it currently on Dark Knight ram free no lag good battery and everything u need
I am using DarkyRom since months.. its rock-solid & fast.
Tried SAUROM, Simplicity,Ario rom -all of them are very stable, have almost equal battery life on Semaphore kernel. The best battery life i had with Elitemovil Rom, but i think that dev is inactive on that rom...
Right now i'm on Amestris 7.3 jw1 -very good rom, nice battery life, like that orange theme
I used the gingereal rom a long time! it´s very sad, that the porject was stopped for all time. With Semaphore Kernel my handy runs like hell and the battery was totally annoying. Darky´s rom is also a very good alternative, too.

Here is the page you can find almost all ROMs, including those for stock kernel. It's all sorted by versions of Android OS (from Donut to ICS)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1425240
I personally use PRIME HD 6.0 by Haka (Gingerbread 2.3.7)
It's fast, smooth, reliable, got lots of free RAM and you have GingerDX options in it.
or use GingerDream also a good soft with good results
why so ginger?
froyo is great for stock kernel and it has best stock-kernel performance!

its bcoz like having now ubuntu 8.04. Has no new improvements. all new mods work for GB not Froyo
Personally: LewaOS v4 (found somewhere in general section ) or www.xperiasite.pl pretty fast no bugs awesome ui
I would also recommend you try using either GingerDX or PrimeHD. Both offer great performance without much unnecessary apps pre-installed where sometimes it gets the phone laggy or slow.

I used PrimeHD now. Before I try GingerDX, GingerElite, PetrukHD and many. But I like PrimeHD.
For performance, try froyopro

I'm testing this civato rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1472515 and I must say that the stock version is very good, clean, smooth and stable (gps very fast, and the overall performances look to be faster).
But the battery drain is high like the 20q one's.
I installed the oc gueste-flix version but it looks to me less smooth then he stock one.
Is there any solution for the stock version (maybe the Dr4go kernel?) to get less battery drain and maintain the same smoothness?
(hope civato is developing version 6)
P.S. I tested many new custom roms and kernels but no one is like 20q or this

Have you tried the latest DJANGOMANOUCHE RC2 from Carburano and you have a choice of Kernels(including mine) and I have posted my battery life and performance in one of the posts....check it mate.
by the way have you checked your BB and RIL combo....maybe that is the culprit...install the GetRIL and check the combination of the Baseband/RIL of your device.
Hope it helps
EDIT: you can try the AF Kernel (link in my signature)on Civato's ROM also...should work...but...make a nandroid backup my friend

Thank you, I'm testing your kernel.
I'm testing custom roms/kernels since nov 2011 and spent very lot of time, so far I made some decisions:
only ext3 and no overclocking
fast gps
only stock roms
When LG delivered 20Q release I've been very satisfied (at last) and maybe I stopped my search, but it was not true and now I found Civato's 5.5 20R.
At present I have 20R bb/ril (I kept 20Q bb with the ril included in all the custm roms stock, miui or cm7-9 and had no problems ever); fleshbomb worked well with 20Q bb too.
Another personal quick test for custom rom cheks is the ad banner at bottom/up of Rom Manager window: if it appears I go on testing the rom otherwise I quit.
These days I've been testing Carburano's big products: today I did for RC2 but I quitted (it's a sin because I have many life affinities with Carburano).
I'l let you know my battery drain with your kernel, btw I didn't make any change in OTF Tweak.
testing new italian 20S rom
hope Civato will release new flexbomb 20S

As the title suggests I would like to know what kernel people are using with what Rom and why.
Do you use the same Kernel with every Rom you flash?

Well im on stock 2.2.1 froyo with CF-ROOT kernel. got this phone as present lats week. haven`t flash it yet xD but ,as anyone here, i just love flashing
I am using cm9 nightlies - based on 4.0.4 because of its stability, good battery life and performance, settings + twics - tw launcher, weather widget and some other things from sgs3, atm with devil3 .79 kernel, with stock ram (378mb, if needed, i can increase it up to 403mb), stable oc up to 1400mhz (with semaphore 1140max., 1200 -> bootloop), also gpu is oc-able ... but if u dont want to oc, semaphore kernel is better for u
I'm reinstalling right now the miui speed ics by lucainno, with devil3 kernel. I really love this rom expecially for the layout, which is different from any other rom! The speed is great and battery life as well. And the kernel is simply... awesome! For its customization
Hi, I'm using ics 4.0.4 cna by franzy with the midnight kernel. I had the devil before but i got a bootloop. With the last midnight the phone is smooth, no lags, good battery life, no bugs until now !
Saurom jw5 + semaphore + ext4 works for me.. very smooth ops. Sticking to 2.3.6 for the fm radio

I'm running the CM9 nightlies as well, with a Semaphore kernel. Very stable and good batteri life, although I'm thinking about comparing with a devil3 kernel. Right now, with the battery life I'm having the most important thing for me is the stability, though.
