[Q] Random restarts?

I've been having a problem lately with my phone. It just restarts! It happens a lot when I'm using the desktop youtube site to watch videos and I try to change the position. If I use a different browser, it won't restart, it just crashes the browser.
Happened again today but while I was running and listening to music.
So far it's only happened like 3x today but I'm just wondering if thats the usual when you're running a custom rom.
Any ideas? I was thinking of trying to reinstall flash but I'm not sure if I should just dl that from the market or do I have to use a modified version b/c I'm using a custom rom.

This might be related to the problematic Samsung App update. Since I updated it has suddenly locked up or suddenly re-booted in the middle of doing something else. Anyone have any ideas how to roll back the update?
Just curious...... did you guys change LCD density and/or are you using ADW Launcer. I am not running a custom rom but after rooting, changhing the LCD density and using ADW I get a random restart maybe once every other day.

Help, tab very slow after 5-10min

After using my tab for 5-10min after a restart, my tab become very slow, to the point of it being unusable. I haven't installed any new apps, just updated some from marketplace, which I deleted. It started this morning. I'm running stock jjb Tmo usa. My tab is also rooted just to freeze some application with T. Backup.
Anyone else experience this? What could I try?

install advanced task killer and check what you have running. Kill some apps and see which helps.
once you have found the cause uninstall it and find alternative, If its a system app freeze it or uninstall it with systemapp remover.
I hardreset my tab yesterday, I kept some apps using titanium backup, only the important stuff and I have to say, it's way much faster.
I had several lags and crashes but now Im good
Ok I did a hard reset and my tab was working fine for a few days and now it's back doing the same, going really really slow after a few min of using it. I killed all apps and not even a spec faster... Is it my tab? Should I format internal SD card?

Sorry to say but don't use Task Killer. It won't help since it only lists what is residing in memory without any other useful info on what to kill.
The most you can do with it , is blindly killing them which doesn't help with the performance or might break something else. The best alternative is Active Apps or watchdog lite which monitors application's CPU usage.
A tip if you just start Android,
Try to use back button ( Close Application) rather than Home ( Put application on standby mode). If you forgot to close applications, try to use Active Apps / Samsung Task Manager to see if anything is left running and close them.
Hope this helps.
Nope, still getting random slow downs. Anyone using launcher pro? After reset, my tab slows down after a few hours. Slow to the point of not being able to do anything but restart.

Had my Tab for several months now using Launcher Pro and various roms without the problems you're having.
Are you using a custom kernel with overclocking and profiles? If so try reverting to stock speed (1000MHz) without profiles.
You could also try a full wipe and reinstall rom without any apps and see what happens. If ok install apps one at a time and test and see which app, if any, causes the problem
look in errlog
download error log from marked and see if u have continues errors.. close any 3d party apps and start the logger, then start any 3rd party 1by1 and see if it generates errors..
I'm running pure stock, us tmo jjb rom. I'm rooted but left rom alone. No overclocking either.
I downloaded log toast, anything special i should look out for? There's a lot of info, don't know what to make of it.
If It keeps happening, might just install new rom.

Ok so i installed log toast and i was monitoring all the errors on my tab. After a fresh restart, i was looking at this thing get errors for:
E BluetoothAudioGateway.cpp(2573)
Pollhup detected
It kept showing over and over and over, but no slow down...I think it was because i had bluetooth turned on.
So right when it started to slowdown really bad, keep in mind that i kept it on the home screen and wasn't using it, just connected to charger and that's it, i started getting a new error message:
E IMGSRV(2497)
PVRSRVEventObjectWait Timeout!
Anyone know what this means??

maybe the rom that you have now has defects which is quite common. if I were you I would flash to overcome version which runs better or return that to samsung for checking.

It's weird I have been experiencing the same type of things. I'm on defualt Verizon rom with superoneclick rooting. Everything else is stock. Started happening yesterday. Maybe it is linked to the update Verizon pushed out? I'm going to start looking into whether I received the update or not and work from there? Keep us posted nysoprano.

tried searching for both ure errors, came up blank, even if they would repeat endlessly it would not slow the system down that mutch. U tried a factory data reset right? guess u could flash a alternative kernel/rom and look for same trouble if so u would assume hw problems? sorry for no straight answer.

Actually my experience with Advance Task Killer (ATK) is that there is never a remarkable improvement! When you kill apps listed as running sometimes freed memory report seem to be temperamental - reduced, no change, increase...
The shocking thing is that killed processes quickly reappears in the list again!
Is there a better app than ATK out there that truly terminates and frees memory?
Ta.

The game is fine. I can play it. But not playing with the Feint connected. Some games will have achievement that need to be connected with Feint.

From 2 months I am trying to make roms for ubl work on my phone, but they just don't. I have a super slow phone when I install them, very unresponsive touchscreen... Please I have no more things I can try. In these two months I tried everything. Locked bootloader roms are better, but they still aren't that smooth and after a few hours I need to restart the phone, because I get unresponsive touchscreen again. I really want kitkat on my phone, because stock sucks too much with so low ram. I beg you guys for help. I am exhausted of trying and trying

Regarding your problem, if you think LBL roms are better then why don't you stick with them as they are equivalent to UBL roms in every aspect. I am on MrSteve555 M12 and can say it is smooth as silk, so what's all the fuss about?

Never seen this lag in the slightest.
I also have lag in the menu in the ui. Maybe it is from my phone? It is a little noticeable lag. Phone is working alright with 4.3, but with 4.4 it sucks

Ive run PA, Omni, PAC and CM11 and none of them have lag on quick settings or settings once the ROMs 'settled in' which is usually a few hours after install when everythings run and updated and synced fully. Is this lag happening for you on a clean phone with minimal gapps and no other apps installed?

Yes. I don't have any luck with phones. I am very sensitive to lag and I'm stuck with this phone 1 year more- good hardware- ****ty software. I like the phone, but no the software.

Use a small gapps package. It does wonders, as long as you do the following steps in the correct order:
1. Format /system.
2. Wipe data, cache and dalvik cache.
3. Install ROM.
4. Install Gapps.
5. Reboot and leave the phone alone for at least half an hour.
6. Run through set-up (if required)
7. Leave phone alone for another hour.
8. Enjoy.
Google Search seems to be a big problem for performance, even on Nexus phones. The easiest is to get a package which does not include it (Velvet.apk it is called, and it is found in /system/priv-app).
I recommend Paranoid Android's 'pico' gapps. Google it to find the post on XDA by TKruzze.

I remember running LagFix off of the Google Play Store. Someone recommended it to me. What it does is it enables TRIM on your /system, /data, and /cache partition, which, in theory should work and improve performance two-fold. It applies to the SP, which uses NAND flash to store these partitions and therefore would suffer from the afore mentioned symptom.

Don't worry if the CyanogenMod set-up app is REALLY slow, crashes, or skips steps, it happens to everyone, because the cache rebuild hasn't begun yet.

Try MrSteve build, if it fails then I guess it's a hardware issue
Sent from my Xperia SP using XDA Free mobile app
I sort of think that it is all with your mind. If you like, would you share a video showing the "lag" you've mentioned in those mentioned areas (notification sliding lag, settings lag) if you are currently running CM11. I would like to actually see it.
I would like to see a video recording of your phone by using another camera, not a screen recording or cast directly from your ROM.
With your video, people will finally could see how the "lag" is and decide if it is the normal lag, or supposedly a problem of your phone.
About touch screen sensitivity, I was unable to find a thread about the same problem (the one before you started a solution thread). I've searched like mad through the General forum. It contains a build.prop modification fix. If you could get me a link to it, gosh I would appreciate it so much and will show you to the right direction

Have you tried LagFix yet? Run it and see what happens.
Plus don't use themes unless you wipe your cache afterwards: the theme modifies SystemUI.apk and therefore the cache file is incorrect.

Gameloft games not working

guys, I don't know where else I can ask this kind of question, but Asphalt 8 and MC5 don't work on my galaxy s6e (SM-G925F) what do?
My Galaxy S6 Edge does not have that problem.
Asphalt 8 works perfectly.
What kind of issues have you got?
Maybe you should contact the developer.
well it used to work perfectly Untill one day. just loads the Gameloft logo and then it says asphalt 8 stopped same with mc5 .. really strange I installed whole lot of programs to troll my nephews like stadium horn hair clipper and animal sounds whatever lol. can it be some compatibility problem with some other app ? I dunno my phone isn't rooted and I don't have a firewall or an ad blocker beats me :/ btw nova3 works fine and any other game just these two. thanks for the reply though.
You could test that out by testing the apps in safe mode.
I have never tried it but safe mode is a basic technique of diagnosing issues you may have.
To do this power off the phone then once it is off hold down the volume down key and power button simultaneously.
Once in safe mode download the gameloft games you have trouble with and if they work you know it is a conflict with other downloaded apps.
Trying it now. thanks !
u cant install and run third party apps in safe mode facepalm
thats crazy it should work without issues..
I had no issue installing the third party apps in safe mode. Although I did see that when they are installed they can't be run. It seems unusual.
Sent from my SM-G925V using XDA Free mobile app
Is there any games from other companies heavy games i mean work with you ?
yes it can run any game except a few from gameloft and i say a few because nova3 works for example but mc5 a8 and minion rush dont. bummer :/
