[Q] A secret code : *#0228# - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Regading on thread Galaxy Note: tips and tricks
A secret code said : *#0228# ADC Reading
Its allow us to do a Quick Start but I found everytime I do Quick Start, the battery life going down... eg. I have fully charged 100%, then unplugged for a while. My Battery life showing 95%, after I do Quick Start, Battery Lift dropped to 90% without any reason..
Anyone have try this? and some explanation about this code? what's its really using for?

I often get that on any reboot. I think it is just the stats not keeping up, and being refreshed somehow when you reboot.
No idea about the code.

Thanks jeromepearce... I thought no one try this code and no any idea... - -"

I tried - but also have no idea what this is good for.
I guess the *#4636# secret code is of more use that also works on Nexus S and maybe more Galaxy phones.

battery drain very fast

hey appreciate ur g8 works thanks
please help me.
when low battery msg is pop up, I used to restart the device, battery indicator shows battery life half
ROM still came with diamond
thanks
I have had the same issue. My battery can show 75%, then I do a soft reset and it will show 90%. It's all over the board. I'm fairly certain it's a conflicting app causing the problem because if I do a hard reset and don't install anything for 24 hours, the battery meter works fine.
Just can't seem to narrow down the culprit.
I recommend you to download this package "htc test.zip" to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2511016
as well as various useful tools such as the control of GPS
will find one for the battery that shows you all the properties and charge cycles as well as the real capacity of the battery
You also gotta read that: Your laptop is lying to you.
And also all the various web sites talking about that article.

Battery status tool?

I came across this tool (thanks weasel5i2):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398555
the source code is included in the package...
This made me start thinking if it's possible to make a tool to reset the battery status so that what the battery meter says is actual true. I know most of you don't have any issues with this but my battery live a life of it's own. Sometimes the phone dies with as much as 90% left on the meter, sometimes 50% (and yes, it is a battery issue, I've tried several ROMs, radios and SPL's and so on).
I'm not into coding so if a skilled developer read this, please please please!
I'll buy a new battery anyways but it seems like other people having the same problems with a fairly fresh battery. I'll see if I can find the time to look up their threads and link them here (not right now though, the boss will start screaming any minute now).
Right now I'm stuck with a Omnia til' I buy a new battery.

Question Mark Over Battery?

Hey guys. My girlfriend just got her Focus S after being smoked by a Windows Phone. Needless to say, she loves it.
A few hours later, she calls me complaining about a "question mark over the battery icon" while charging it. Shes tried several different chargers including the one that came with the phone and still the problem persists. Not to mention it is charging incredibly slow. I Googled the problem and found only the Nokia Lumia 800 has this problem but it has been addressed with an update. She has not plugged in the phone to her Zune desktop yet so I am not sure if there is an update available to fix this problem.
Is this a known issue in the Focus S world?
Haven't heard of this issue. But if this is a new phone the battery should probably be conditioned via several full charge/discharge cycles.
Perhaps you can use the Diagnosis app to to see if there's a problem. Type ##634# in the dial pad (like if you're making a call) to install it. Then launch it from the Apps list. Type *#2*# to launch the Battery information page. However, I have no idea what any of the fields really mean so hopefully someone else can jump in....

If the battery is unofficial, it will do this. When my OEM battery died, rather than contacting Samsung I first tried to get an unofficial battery through eBay. I put in the unofficial battery and it charged the very first time completely. After I let the battery go down to 0% (To fully charge and drain the first few times of owning the battery to "prep" it) it stopped charging completely and I could not unplug the charger from the phone because the battery was always at 0% no matter what I did. I contacted the seller and he sent me a new battery. Did the same thing. SO this leads me to believe that you MUST have an official battery in there because I finally had Samsung send me a new battery and it worked fine after that.
I should note this also happened to me on Dell Lattitude laptop. Tried 2 different aftermarket batteries and both had the EXACT same issue.

Note 4 random shutdowns Battery at 15%,20% fix ( without root )

I know lot of users facing this issue after marshmallow update so i decide to made this thread.
I have n910t and i have multiple batteries but phone everytime shutdowns at 15% or 20% after. Updated to marshmallow i did everything i downloaded battery calibration app from playstore but didn't work.
So i figured out how to fix and clear current wrong battery calibration status without root and my phone doesn't shut down at 15 or 20% anymore.
1,open dialer and dial *#0228#
2,after dialing *#0228# the battery status menu will popup.
3,hit ( quick start ) at bottom of the screen in red color
4,hit ( yes ) and go to settings/battery and disable fast charging for 1 charge only.
5,power off the phone and charge to 100%.
6,turn on the phone and if it shows 97,98,99 plug in charger again and charge to 100%.
7,once it charge to 100% unplug charger and this will create new battery calibration status automatically.now you can enable fast charge again.
8, Next go to play store and download wakelock power app and install it. Open the app and hit (PARTIAL WAKE LOCK) as in screenshot below.
This app will help prevent the device from random rebooting and freezing this app does not require root access.
Download wakelock power app link below.

THIS METOHOD WORKS ONLY WITH STOCK OFFICIAL FIRMWARE IF YOU ARE RUNNING AOSP ROMS/CYANOGENMOD ROMS/NOTE7 ROMS/S7EDGE ROMS/ OR OTHER PORTED ROMS DIALING *#0228# MAY NOT WORK.
AND IF YOU HAVE VERIZON NOTE 4 THE HIDDEN CODES ARE DISABLED BY CARRIER SO DIALING *#0228# CODE WILL NOT WORK.

I am running a debloated rom, do you happen to know what system apps need to be in place to do this?
Some examples I see are,....bluetoothtest.apk, factorycameraFB.apk.

No idea .
for this method you dont need to mess with anything even no need to be rooted just follow instructions i mentioned in op.
Be aware if you have xposed installed or running cyanogenmod/s7/note7/ based rom it will not work.
You must be on stock otherwise dialing *#0228# won't work.
30%, no reboot.... 20%, no reboot.... 15%, low battery warnig, no reboot.... 10%, no reboot.... Yeah!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!
Does this work fix the problem when you switch batteries on the N910C too?

It should work just follow instructions in op and use 1 battery for couple of days until your device battery status will be perfect.

Excellent, so I should be able to switch batteries back and forth and charged them on my N910C fully without any problems by doing this?

Yep hopefully but make sure after recalibrate battery status use 1 battery only for few days
Thanks! My girlfriend is waiting for a new free battery due to warranty cover, but in case she keeps having this problem I'll tell her to follow your instructions

I'm running a note 7 port and the dialer codes don't work. Does anyone know the correct code for the N7? TIA
I booted into safe mode and tried again, but still get the "connection problem or invalid MMI code" error

Must be on stock to dial this code .
Read op all answers are there.
I'm posting this for FYI purposes and to thank Trex888:
I was having this problem on TEKHD's Lollipop Rom also, so it isn't just MM Roms that are affected. I bought an 8000 mAh battery with back cover on ebay and it doesn't happen when using it. I can go all the way to 1% without a problem. Any time I use my OEM battery that came with the phone, my phone shuts down at about 24% charge and keeps power cycling. I can't even shut the phone off with the power button because it just turns itself back on and continuously power cycles. If I remove the battery and then put it back in, the phone will stay off. I thought my battery was bad and bought the 8000 mAh battery, which doesn't behave that way. Now, after seeing this thread, I am relieved to know someone found a "fix."
Needless to say, thank you very much for posting a working fix for this issue. I'm going to hit thanks in a few of your posts since I can only thank you once in the OP
Thanks again Trex888!

Thanks. I tried this on my wife's ATT Note 4. I bought a used one that had MM, then i started noticing it not charging pass the upper 80s. I switched the battery that was in my back up Note 4 Verizon Variant, did what you suggested, and it has charged to 100 twice now. Hopefully this keeps up.

After do this instructions use stock for atleast 4 days to make battery status perfect.
After that you can flash whatever rom you want but flashing roms again might mess up battery calibration.
Make sure after flashing any new rom turn off fast charging and the phone and charge to 100% te recalibrate battery with new rom.
I hope i don't go too OT here, i don't own a Note 4, but my friend asked me to do that for him. These are screens from his Note 4 Snapdragon, he says he uses Nameless ROM with AEL kernel and after tweaking a little, after calibration and some kernel settings, he has obtained this pretty awesome battery life
My Note 4 is running on DN7 ROM by Team-Electron. The dialer code for battery status worked and it popped up the status and I went on clicking the red quick start button, it showed a warning window whether the fuelgauge will be recalibrated causing battery issues.
Should I proceed with further steps as mentioned, or are there any reported issues when operated from any Note 7 Port ROM's ??
Thanks.

Yep you can go ahead and hit yes
But i suggest you try this method on stock non rooted firmware and use for few days.
Once your battery status are perfectly calibrated you can flash any rom you wish.

Recalibrate Battery - *#02880# not working...

I want to see if re-calibrating the battery on my Note 9 will make any difference on how long the battery lasts. I've looked at a three videos, all of which say to wipe the cache, then boot up, go into the dialer, and type *#02880#. Then select Quick Start, and it will reset calibration. I won't cover the rest here...
But two things: When I enter that code on my Note 9 (U.S. version), it does not reset the stats.
Also, on two of the 3 videos it says to totally discharge your phone until it turns off automatically, and they both say to charge it to 200%. Uh...I don't think that's possible. Interesting both vids make the same mistake.
Any thoughts

It works for European versions , don't know for your one but at least you should do things in the right way to see because in you tube or generally in internet there are a lot of bad explanations for doing this :
1. Charge your phone to real 100% (wait until after reaching 100% the flash sign [emoji298] in the battery icon goes away) then disconnect the cable
2. Go in dialer and type *#0288#
3. Select quick start
4. Wait a wile (one minute) and then riactivate the screen if it went away wile waiting
5. If Android wasn't calibrated with the real battery value, you will now find the percentage of the battery capacity less then the initial 100% value.
6.a If point 5. figures out, charge again the battery until it reaches 100% and wait until the flash sign in the battery icon goes away to pull out the cable... now Android is calibrated to the real battery capacity.
6.b If point 5. doesn't figure out and so nothing changes and still having 100%, doesn't mean calibration doesn't work, means that Android and battery were already calibrated....
However, calibration with the past two or tree OS's is not so much needed because the battery gauge of Android is precise... I remember that up to Android 6, this method was good once evey two months because charging and discharging cycles made the measurements inaccurate after a wile .
If this doesn't solve your problems, look for apps that are draining your battery... If you find someone that does it, go in settings - applications, select the app and in its menù find and do a wipe cache and a wipe data to it..if doesn't work, try even uninstall and installing the app again.
Take present that after a year having your phone, maybe a new battery is needed so everything you can do, like changing and maneging settings, is worthless...

I really appreciate your input. I'll give it a go.
I have had my phone over a year, and was thinking about a new battery.
INterestingly, I have been thinking I have caused poor battery times myself. I do a LOT with my phone, and have installed apps for some smart home stuff, which also needs my location. So, it has a lot of actdive stuff, and I expect the battery to be used up quicker. But I'm not sure it should be as bad as it is.
I'll give this a go, and then maybe try a new battery.
Hey People I have a SM-N960F/DS and upto date with software wanting to know of a way to recalibrate battery that code does not work for me
Essentially you cannot recalibrate a battery . Calibration is a battery process .
See Google must be a million posts on the subject .

It still works for me on a note 9 exynos with android 10....don't paste and copy the code directly on the dialer because sometimes it won't work.
I found out another thing ...the code is not *#02280# but it's *#0228#
Open the dialer and then press every single botton to compose *#0228# ....after the last one (#), automatically the the battery status panel appears .

Calibration is intended as a battery and OS synchronization because after a while the OS goes out of the right value of the battery .
