I updated my Xoom Wifi to ICS, and I decided i needed a better boot animation than stock. So here's what I thought looked best:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2YwVd6hXI0
The boot animation is Retro Style by ihtfp69, and the splash is a icon made by ruvort. I will attach the files used in my boot setup.
Post your boot animations/splash icons here!

1. make sure you have proper drivers
2. make sure you have adb for the command module
3. download bootanimation.zip
4. plug in your xoom
5. open up command module, type in cd C:\[file location of adb]
6. type in adb.exe
7. after you have activated adb, type 'adb devices' to make sure your device is connected.
8. type in the following codes
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local (this sends the file to the local folder, under the data folder of the device.)
adb reboot
if all has gone correctly, you should now have a shiny new boot animation
now for the splash animation, which is Xoom specific, just download Team Eos's splash flasher on the android market. just search for "eos splash". it's idiot proof
how did you change the splash screen?

Youcan also very easily just dl the zip, and use root explorer to put it in data/local

I sent mine in for the 4G LTE upgrade. I did the factory data reset, unrooted, relocked the boot loader, but I forgot to change the splash back. It's no big deal. I sent it in for the upgrade . They do not care about the boot splash. All they care about is the boot loader being relocked, the original sys images are back on the device, and that the Xoom is unrooted. They are going to wipe your device clean anyway, and restore the Factory Boot Splash when it's done. Factory data reset, unroot, lock the boot loader. Let it go. You can go from thread, to thread with the same question and this will be the answer you will get from others that have gotten the upgrade. If you are really bothered about it, use the EOS Xoom Boot Splash market link that was sent - Hope everything works out for you.
Good work thanks
using it.. looks cool

I did not create the original animation. It can be found all over the web and I have no idea who created it. Credit goes to him/her.
This boot animation is based off of this gif:

I added a background layer, removed almost 200 frames (the original was almost 900 frames) optimized the images and made an "ERIS" loop at the end.
.
Note: Sometimes my phone boots up too fast and the animation doesn't make it all the way to the end. Please report how your phone does and I will update accordingly. Enjoy!
That's a badass bootanimation thanks for your work, any way you know how to change the in call screen?

lmao @ this ^ guy
doesn't work on at all on my phone. Evil Eris 3.0 rooted, etc.
I did install it through the recovery menu though. Is there anything specific beyond "Install zip file" that needs to be done?

ah. guess I'll have to wait till I get home from work to try it out then.
Get root explorer in market you can move it from SD card or to data/system/media and paste and it'll ask to overwrite and Say yes. Do easy and fast
Just installed, rebooted phone and runs perfect. No changes that needs to be made that I can see, looks awesome! I keep running adb shell bootanimation just so I can keep watching it. Great job
I just wanted to share my boot animation. It's a hybrid of the Nexus One's with a different HTC animation. I made it because I didn't really care for the original one with the android bot waving at me. This is just thrown together and isn't original but simply two boot animations I took and combined their best parts together. It's pretty simple and classic but nothing beats the X, imo
Installation:
Connect MTS to computer via usb cable.
Copy the bootanimation.zip into SDK/tools folder (your own directory location may vary).
Boot MTS into clockwork recovery and mount system.
Open cmd prompt and type cd /SDK/tools (again, may vary).
Double check device by typing adb devices.
And finally, type adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media.
Reboot and enjoy!
I was too lazy to make a gif image. So here's a general idea of what it looks like....

Is there a way to optimize it? If not its still niiceee

huh?! That's weird... Do you have an old animation in data/local or something? I just downloaded it and checked the link. Its the X and htc quietly brilliant... same as always.

no only thing in data/local is flash_image, mtd0.img and tmp folder which is empty
Whenever I try to push the file over, it doesn't allow me to. Running it says the folder is read-only, from clockwork the device is listed as offline. any idea?

I use the original boot that was in cyanogen 6.0. it has the same X animation.

Sounds like you might not actuall have S-OFF.
It's not quietly smooth at all :/
Hey all,
Since my DINC, I have been using the Simple Inverted Splash image & boot animation. I found someone created one for the TBolt so I give the credit for the original Thunderbolt version from this thread, only I took off the "TM" on my splash image and boot animation.
I darkened the black and removed the TM from the original Splash image which is attached to this thread. To put it on your phone; Rename it to PG05IMG, put it in the root of your SDcard, reboot into Bootloader, let the update load, Push Volume up to update, reboot & let it fly.
The original DINC splash & boot animation is found here; so you know where the credit goes. Anyway, I modified & centered "HTC Thunderbolt", kept the same darkness as the splash screen as well as smoothness of the original. I loaded it on my phone and it works like a champ so hopefully all you enjoy!
Thanks to the original creators of the images.
Here is the boot animation link:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IHBYJ427
First go to /system/customize/resource & rename the current VZW_bootanimation.zip to whatever. Rename the new boot animation to VZW_bootanimation.zip and stick it in /system/customize/resource, reboot and watch the new boot animation!

I really like the splash screen with the black background and the simple boot screen. I recently flashed a new ROM and came to get this back, but I see the megaupload link is dead. Any chance of getting this uploaded somewhere else?
BTW, I can't believe no one else ever replied or thanked you for this post.

No worries. It served its purpose for the era of the Tbolt. You're welcome. I may still have the files on my work computer. When I go back I will check, upload em somewhere and get em to you.
Hey man, I don't have the splash screen file but I do have these two bootanimations for the TBolt that you can have.

stupid noob question pls....would this be considered a boot.img?
Finally working!! But you have to manually copy zip file in to /system/media/
You will need Root Explorer or something like that.
Copy it here:
/system/media/bootanimation.zip
NEW!
Android L Bootanimation
30fps was too fast so it's 20fps. I'm also working on Boot Sound script so stay tuned
You need something like Rom Toolbox to install this boot animation, or you can copy it directly in:
/system/media/bootanimation.zip
It should work too.
It didn't work before because of bigger resolution. It was 1920x1080 but OUYA has 1920x1016 so now it is 1806x1016.
Bios
It's an old bios boot animation with XBMC logo in the end.
Download
I've made new version with THX sound and better animated, flashable in CWM recovery. But sound not work and CWM flash fail

Could anyone made from this CWM flashable file? Thanks.

How on earth did you get these to work? I have deleted the original bootanimation.zip from System/Media, added these boot animations 1 by 1 done a reboot after each one obviously and all i get is an 'Android' logo in grey pop up. Any ideas?

Make sure you set the permissions to rw/r/r or use an app like boot box
Ignore - Changed Permissions and it's fine, Just a little off centre on my TV. Cheers for the Bios Type
Yeah it's kinda tricky. But on every other device what I have even with different resolution work just fine. I dont know where problem is but it work soemtimes

They had some luck with this on the RN10P (not specifically the RN11 yet): https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/custom-splash-screen-for-redmi-note-10-pro.4277659/ as well as https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/tool-custom-boot-logo-splash-screen-generator.4378967/

Windows XP Bootanimation
hello! bootanimation of windows xp, it works perfectly on 1080x2400 screens, (RN10PRO) I don't know how to make a flashable zipper, if you are able do it please :)
forum.xda-developers.com
So, focus on the bootanimation.zip. There is risk, so first save off the original bootanimation.zip. This source above lets you see the steps to install one, once you get it set up with the animation of your choice. This one is also not yet flashable, but the steps are accomplished in custom recovery. I've changed the boot image before in other phones and I recall swapping the bootanimation.zip, but not sure if exclusively.
