I had experia x2 for a couple of months and i will never buy a smartphone from sony agen. I am not very happy with my o2x but i've learned to like it after tryin almost every custom rom avalable. Now nunning on amno's twenty seven rom. So far best stable rom i have tryed. If he likes trying out new roms go for o2x.
My opinion

I have Arc and O2X. At this moment the O2X pleases me more... But they are both great phones. The LG is faster...
my wife use arc s while i'm using in o2x, here is some of my view about both product :
1. o2x run applicaton much faster
2. o2x has bigger storage
3. arc s very light weight
4. arc s very good camera(tested by myself in low light, arc s is really good)
5. arc s gives more heat when you use it compared with o2x, reason because arc s more thin, usually thin device will generate more heat
6/ arc s has locked bootloader, when you unlock you lose some feature, when you try to relock, those feature still missing, in you use unofficial way, you don't lose those feature, but you can't relock. compared with o2x, just smartflash, your phone will get like as stock without a problem
latest, it is up to you to pick what you want...

Agree the 2X is a great phone to mod. If you want a stabile stock phone that "always works " then buy the sony. But the custom rom are getting really good on the X2!!!

My personal Opinion is that the experia arc s is a little made for girls. Don't know why, maybe because I have seen lots of girls with that phone.
But if I were your brother I'd get an O2x or I'd wait for the next generation phones

Hey there fellow Canadians
I will NEVER buy another SE phone again after the whole X10 issue... (rogers customer)
I would suggest out of all of them go for the incredible S. Since all the phones your looking at are from different carriers I would also suggest look at the Desire HD.
The desire HD is my current phone. It is the same as the Incredible S, except a Metal Unibody design.
What I would say however..... Wait a few months if you can.
New Android powered devices will be out.
Expect Telus to get em first.
Edit: Stay away from the LG imo. The 2x is pretty laggy from the model I play'd around with. Go watch some reviews of it... pretty badly optimized rom. Rather wait for HTCs new models.
Cause incredible s is coming to bell April 4th and nexus s around 14 April and arc is coming 21st both with Rogers. How you like your dhd?

I've narrowed my choices down to the same 3 phones (rogers customer)
I'm leaning towards the NS. With the incredible second and almost out of the picture.
Waiting to handle all three in person before making my final decision

I believe the Nexus S is the way to go on this one. The incredible S from what I hear isn't shipping with 2.3 which is really not as important as the hardware specs but even in that area I might go with the NS. The only thing I really like about the IS is the 8meg cam but overall I'd go with the NS.
Xperia arc sounds promising even my first choice is nexus I think. And incredible s is running 2.2 don't think it would have much dev support on xda.

Hi, I might be out of the line here, but i sold my nexus s to get incredible s, the reason is good build quality & solid user experience, i first used HTC sense when i used hero, that was also very tightly controlled by HTC, but they have done very good job with it, i am holding on to my incredible s & i feel relieved that i got rid of my nexus s, believe me i had gone for nexus s for updates, but that phone is so badly made( according to my standards> u may find it Ok) ( dont make any decision on my comment see for yourself and decide)
but i am happy now

yes you are right absolutely no support, nobody could even root the phone not even Paul (Modaco.com) AFAIK, but that is added part for me, i am not going to reflash & reflash, i want stable experience.
The Xperia Arc has a pathetic internal memory of only 300+ MB. Note that still a majority of apps doesn't support installation on SD cards. It also lacks a notification LED light and Front-facing cam, not that it's important, but this phone should be future proof.
Plus, I love the overall experience and tweaks of the Sense UI.
As we all can see ... I choose the IS
Why? First of all htc's quality is far better than samsung's ... Hardware wise ... Also sense ... Well sense is just unbeatable ... And for those who care about shipping with 2.2 ... Who cares ... we are getting an update to 2.3.3 in q2 that is this month right ?
So over all the IS is the best choice sense and 2.3.3 are goind to be a crazy combo ...

I am currently using a Motorola defy but am looking at upgrade options. The 2x is by far the cheapest dual core regarding the plan i have in mind of taking with my provider. So, Im interested if someone could tell me what were your experiences after some time of use....i am mostly concerned by the reliability and the number of different problems that people seem to be having with this model hardwarewise...is the build quality really somewhat below standard od are those just som erotten apples?
Also, regarding rooting, flashing and all similar procedures, how would you rate the respective ease of those activities on the 2x comparing to other handsets?
Not recommended.. buy Samsung Galaxy S II..

Yeah, if you want good dual core phone go for Samsung galaxy sII, HTC sensation or simply wait for nexus prime.

No.
As others have pointed out:
Sensation (and XL) and Galaxy S2:
- Have much better versions of Android installed by default.
- Have better screens and hardware in general.
- Have companies who have improved their updating policy greatly.
Not to mention Nexus Prime, if the one who is asking is willing to wait.
Even after installing custom ROMs on this thing, I sometimes miss my HTC Desire with Oxygen ROM.
no due to the fact it's a LG phone. Spec wise the phone is great, stock software is ****. Other phones and companies seem to get updates out faster i would recommend anyone other one of them.
Like i keep saying.
Optimus 2x = Great hardware and built quality (GS2 built quality sucks IMO)
= Bad stock Rom.
So!
If your planning on installing a custom rom, like cyanogenmod, its probably the best device for the price by a mile. Am more than satisfied with CM. It's super fast stable and responsive.
If your planning to stay on stock, dont bother.
Period
I am on stock euro open v10d,and it is flawless!

If you plan on using custom firmware I would recommend it, especially cm7 feels great if you can do without fm radio.

Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
It's a good phone.
Stock software was really bad at first, latest Froyo (and baseband) works good but flashing newer custom ROM's based on GB leaks made it awesome
Our developers always have something better to work with, even without full support by LG or nVidia. I mean, just look what Samsung and Sony Ericsson did by recognizing community efforts and I believe LG will do the same, in time. After all, Optimus 2X was their first attempt to play hi-end game and was released only 9 months ago. So stop whining. HTC was on the same level just last year... Been there, done that - I had HTC Hero. Now they are praised, but last year only hated.
Never tried CM, there were too many setbacks at first, some are solved by now but really never had any need... Just waiting for Topogigi's 2.0 and new HP kernel. Don't expect too much from LG, follow xda devs and Paul from MoDaCo of course. Flashing is easy and device is un-brickeable
Yeah, I was thinking if I buy it to definitely flash some custom rom so this is good info, thx .
I can only recommendation the phone, i know five people with the ox2 and no one has hade any problems. I have tried cm and the leaked ginger but i am back on stock rom now.

just broke my galaxy s for the third time, so i think its time to move on. i have to decide to move to an optimus 2x, or an atrix. what u guys think? From what i saw, optimus have a better camera, what means a lot for me, lg have the best cellphone cameras imo. atrix have what it seens a little more speed and more space (16gb)
what do you guys suggest me?
I would not but a LG ever again. Imho Sony camera is much better.
Sent from my LG-P990 using xda premium
sony camera is cool too, but locked bootloader and still no dual core phone (or am i late?)
o2x imo is better than the atrix, the atrix has more memory so if that's what your after then get that, i love the design and shape and size of my o2x and if it wasn't for the ****ty lg support and nvidia ****ing with us by holding back vital drivers needed for ICS dev then this phone would be the best iv ever had.
The camera is pretty great iv never seen the atrix camera so cant compare tho.
The benchmarks tests always seem to show the o2x to be ahead of the atrix even tho they both have a tegra 2 chipset.
But with the customs roms this phone is pretty decent, its fast responsive, get a custom home screen and it will be smooth as you can imagine, the lg home screen is rather choppy but i use it because i like the way you can organize apps and games into separate category rather than just throwing them together into a big mess if you can do that with adw or go launcher then someone please tell me how so i can switch.
I only paid £200 for my o2x brand new so i cant complain too much, defo worth it compared to the 400-500 they are asking for that overpriced crap called the sgs2, decent phone.... ****ty price tag, no phone is worth that much.
In Australia there are close to no people using Optimus 2xes due to no one selling them on plans/contracts. Every second person has a galaxy s2 though so they can't be that bad.
I would lean towards avoiding the atrix due to the locked bootloader. Apparently there's a 50% chance of bricking it.

It's quite possible that they sent RC what he needed, he's been asking them since day one, and is a serious coder, rather than the 'cook' type 'dev'.
I would say get one, the stock GB is apparently much improved over froyo, and CyanogenMod is just great, that's the reason I bought mine in the first place.
If I hadn't have managed to get a freebie, I'd keep mine.
For its money LG O2X is the best phone.
Please, don't buy that phone!
It's have the worst supported in the WORLD.
Nvidia and LG = S**T
I sell my phone, and Im really happy with that choice.
And I don't wanna see that phone again.

And forget about the Galaxy S2, this only good because the Super Amoled, and Camera, nothing more...

the htc high end smartphones not near as fast like the o2x or the sgs2, the hardware component quality is low, if htc not change that it will be died. maybe the rom is good but it just candy.. if you want a phone what is broken often go ahead and buy a htc. i had many htc, i never ever want again.
sgs2 it will be a good choice if isn't very overpriced. by the way the samsung company almost act like the apple, soon booth company will be in the android users blacklist. o2x is a good choice but the stock lg rom is a crap, you need to flash one of the custom roms!

I dont think so.. the neo looks better and has a much better software support i guess. the neo will get the new android ice cream sandwich really soon. LG instead has a worse update policy (the users had to wait a really long time until they got gingerbread).

Very happy O2X user here too. CyanogenMod FTW!
To counter what everyone says: NONONONONO.
I honestly don't think there's a worse device to go for right now than the O2X. Sure the Dev work is good, but why go for a phone with zilch official support? The Neo's going to get ICS, I believe. The O2X might take 8 years to get it. Stay were you are.
Someone offered me a neo for my o2x once. I didnt even take the time to respond.
Off course you should go for the o2x, because it is an awesome phone!
Granted, the stock software sucks monkey balls, but custom rom support is way better than the neo. Once you put cyanogenmod on it, you can tweak it so its just how you like it. Thats why i love this phone. SE sucks imo for locking their bootloaders.

im so happy with it, i had xperia x10, galaxy tab, and if when i bougth lg 2x LG would have been spending $ 150 more of i must, but i cant so i go for 2x and a friend of mine has the ss2 and the lg doents ask much may be on multitasking but im not using ten apps at time im hapi muiu user, cm is good too but i like the tools on miui, limit data and those stuff
do the swap before the neo owner realises he is retarded...
I have an O2x while my sister has a Neo, both phones are good, but my O2X is faster, has better screen, and is better supported in fact of custom roms.
On the other hand, Neo looks better and has better stock rom support (and ICS soon)...
Summing everything i'll go for the O2X anyway
Hardware > Software

the P990 is like heaven if you want to try custom roms
Even if you manage to brick it, just install a Stock-Rom with NVflash, and it is back alive in 95% of all brick-situations. The only way to destroy it is the hardware-side, like smacking it with a sledgehammer
Very large user base all over the world, and a wide bandwith of CustomRoms that run stable and nearly bugfree.
The official ICS-Stock-Rom is also running pretty good with it But if you ever used a custom rom, or tried one once, you never want to go back to stock on any device
When I ask about ICS is because I've seen some posts where users say that ICS update for this device comes with some bugs and that was worst than previous version.
But when I see all yours answers I believe that this is good phone and good choice.

Exactly, i think that it is S2=O2X>>>S>>>Ace, too.
Btw rvrosa, ICS is working quite good, CM7 is perfect (but oldie if you had tried JBo ICS xD) and devs are working hard to give us a good experience with 4.2.1 and 4.1.2... and yes, it is very easy to flash any rom, and its really hard to brick this phone (someone said 95% of briks are back alive? Well, i think its 99% of them :'D).

I am running on ParanoidAndroid 2.5_2 by tonyp right now, which is CM10-based Android 4.1.2, and it feels stable I would recommend it to everyone for everyday-usage
Same is true for pengus77's CM10-Version for the new BL, it runs great

I will, I will... but first let me get the phone lol
by the way, as this is a used phone should i check anything in particular?
In case i get a locked phone, is it easy to unlock?
AW: [Q] LG P990 any good?
rvrosa said:
This is a straight answer and for sure i get different opinions...
Well, i have a chance to buy a P990. But when i see a top phone with low prices i suspect something is very wrong with it... and low prices are not only for the phone i found, is to all P990, so the problem should be with all of them...
Can you please tell me if this is good or bad phone? Battery, wifi, calls, android version...
If i compare this phone to samsung galaxy ace or ace2 or w, which one to choose?
Thank you all.

i think there are no real locked P990 out, are there?
they only are nation- or provider-linked for official updating, but there are really easy ways to change that

welcome to optimus 2x world.
compare to my friend Sony xperia P :
performance is absolutely win... xperia P laggy.... optimus 2x smooth... best for gaming
display : well, xperia P is the winner. because "bright pixel" . but, the optimus 2x display is not bad. for me, its good enought
body : xperia P is win. smaller, thinner . never mind...
ram : xperia P. oh come on... ram expander is everywhere. who's need big ram XD
i choose optimus 2x because its performance and for gaming experience
Well... at the end i didn't bought the LG... found a good deal and decided for HTC ONE X.
Thank you all.
If you get a locked phone, regardless of brand or carrier, it is easy to unlock - just identify the original carrier it was locked to, get the IMEI, submit that info plus $8 to cellunlocker.net, then boot the phone with any other SIM inside, and enter the code
Good job on getting the One X, great buy and way better than the P990... I like my P990 but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone in 2013, even those on a budget, since the better models from late 2011/early 2012 would be at a decent price by then.

No... the phone is unlocked from factory
Was in different language but when i put my sim card he asked me if want to import my sim card configurations or something like that and... guess what? I get the phone in my language lololol
I've bought it very cheap for that reason and for some small scratches. The only ones that i have some scare are in the front of the camera... the worst case scenario is i have to change the phone case, but i don't think this scratches affect pictures as they are in side and not in the middle.
So far very happy with it :victory:
Hi,
I got this phone after i sold my 3GS.I really enjoyed the extra core and the hdmi out(i even sold my htpc as i didnt need it anymore!)
but missed the smoothness and attention to detail of the ios.
Having said that it took me 5 days of reading to jailbreak the iphone and around 10 minutes to root the 2x.
I kept it stock because life is short and i didnt want to loose warranty.
I agree with the friend who said its a galaxy s2 class phone.I was considering the s2 ass well but the lg had a better bang for a buck at the time.
IMHO there is nothing wrong with it except for the never ending progress of technology, its just not top dog anymore.
