I just rooted my Nexus 1 Froyo per instructions on theUnlockr.com. I installed ADB first, Then proceded to root. I then flashed a recovery rom: recovery-RA-nexus-v1.7.0.1-cyan.img. This was successful. I then booted phone into recovery mode. Selected recovery and the first couple times I received a black screen with an exclamation point in the middle of a triangle next to green android. I flashed recovery rom once again and this time it allowed me to enter. I made my backup image and even booted into recovery mode againwiped phone clean and restored image. I thought I was golden! Later I tried to boot into recovery mode again and I received same problem as mentioned above. I tried again no luck. I even flashed recovery rom again and It still dose not work. Why could this be happening? I even went through the steps to root phone again (that went well). But still no recovery mode. I even tried another recovery rom: recovery-RA-nexus-v1.7.0.1.img. It did the same thing. Worked one time and then nothing! I need to fix this before I load custom Roms.

I was able to flash recovery via your instructions but phone STILL will not boot into recovery mode. I hold down the volume key and power.....all I get is triangle with droid net to it. Im going to try and Un-root my phone and start from scratch! Thanks for the help!
you are getting the triangle with the droid because the recovery did not flash correctly, try usung rom manager if for nothing else, just to install Amon/clockwork

Did you remove the two scripts like you were told? /system/etc/install-recovery.sh and /system/recovery-from-boot.p

Cool thanks for the advice! I did try Rom Manager and used Amon/Clockwork recovery. After flashing the Recovery Image I booted into recovery from Rom Manger. No problem! BUT.....when I rebooted phone from recovery menu I again went in to Rom Manager and tried to Boot back in to recovery and I got the triangle with the Droid next to it. I pulled battery and started phone again. I flashed Amon/Clockwork recovery again from Rom Mang. and again I was able to successfully boot in to recovery. This pattern goes on and on. It seams that every-time I want to boot into recovery I need to flash Amon/clockwork image. Somewhere phone is not retaining the information. Everything looks to work just fine as long as I Flash before I go into recovery. I'm sure this is not the way it should work. Any ideas?

Khaytsus,
When was I told to remove the two scripts? Where did this come from? Please let me know what they are for and why removing them would help? Also, if I do need to remove these would it be done by using Root File Manager, finding file and selecting delete? Sorry if I sound new to this.....it's because I am! LOL. Thanks for any help you can provide!
Try this.

It's documented in random places, of course the post below also has the same info. I don't know precisely what the two files do, but they apparently try to restore the recovery.
Trust me, it will fix the problem. Remove them, re-flash recovery.

So, I'm not the OP, but I am having trouble deleting the files despite the fact that they are both say "YES" in read and write in properties. I tried to reflash from ROM Manager and I keep getting an error there. Not sure what to do.
BTW, I'm using a Galaxy Nexus. Would love some help as this is all uncharted terrain for me.

If I understand, your problem is that you can't actually flash a custom recovery from ROM Manager ?
Which do you use ?
Are you trying to flash a recovery in recovery mode ?
Please link here files you tried to flash.

I can't flash from ROM Manager. Initially, I didn't want to purchase the download capability. So, first, I used the program tools and flashed from there. I got Clockwork Mod to work, but then when I restarted it and went into "recovery," I got nothing.
Now, I can't flash at all.
The galaxy nexus should have fastboot capabilities, this is the best and safest way to flash your recovery partition
Be sure to use the proper recovery image for your device
If you need help finding it or setting up fastboot let me know

I have only ever found a guide for a temporary flash. I would follow the instructions and then CWM wouldn't stick. =\
So here is the typical steps to follow
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img
And that's it, were you using fastboot to just boot it? Were you doing another method? The more details you give the faster and more accurate your help will be

I used instructions from http://androidforums.com/internatio...root-samsung-galaxy-nexus.html#enter-recovery.
The ROM wouldn't "stick" and then the USB wasn't even recognized by the end of everything.
Start by booting into your bootloader and writing down everything word for word on that screen here. Next boot to recovery and write down what you see there. Even better upload pics of each. Again the more detailed you can be the more help you can get

I have just installed ClickWorkMod Recovery Version 4.0.0.2 on my revo. I booted in recovery and making a backup on my SD card.
I'm really sorry to ask but i thought I will boot to a new rom and use the improve features where do I get the rom from is it a part of of ClockWordMod application?
Also once I will get how do I boot to the improve rom and if I want to go back to stock how do I do this?
Thanks

Im stuck at FastBoot mode. Please help!
You should read the cmw ported to lg revolution 4G thread. It has a link to a post that explains how to restore the recovery img and boot into it from an adb prompt. Once in recovery you should be able to restore your backup or the original lg rom. You can also check the irc #lgrevolution on freenode.net to see if any devs are available to help.

Moving to General
Hi Everybody,
So it goes like this. I rooted my phone for the first time and I backed up using Titanium Backup. then i downloaded rom manager. Within rom manager i flashed CWM. When i get to recovery mode and i try to reinstall packages it starts a download and a quarter of the way it gives me an error like "Failed to verify whole file signature"...and installation was aborted. After trying other varius methods posted like uninstall rom manager and rebot your phone and try again. I still had no success. So in recovery mode i thought maybe if i delete my internal storage and user data with cache data it might work (not knowing what deleting user data did). after my process of getting the phone on track i checked to see if my phone was still rooted. In my applications folder i had superuser permissions so i assumed it was still rooted. I went straight to market and downloaded Rom Manager, and tried again to flash CWM. Went into recovery and i had no success, it still gave me the same error message. I downloaded Titanium Backup to restore my files (i copied my internal storage device so i have titanium backup's files that i backed up) and when it loaded up the application said that the phone is not rooted.
So to get to the point. HOw can i get CWM on my phone? and Why was titanium backup saying my phone is not rooted when i have superuser permissions and rom manager was also using it?
Thank you.

Hey Everyone the folks over at TEAM WIN RECOVERY PROJECT put together an image file for TWRP recovery for the I9505G. I take NO CREDIT for this but I did convert the image into an ODIN flashable .TAR file because an ODIN tar was not available on TWRP website. I have tested and flashed this on my Locked Bootloader and Stock Google Edition Galaxy S IV running 4.2.2. Please make sure you Unlock the Bootloader if you want to Root your phone, the Root will not work if you try to install it from Recovery on reboot.
As Always I am not responsible if you brick your phone doing any modification
HOW TO INSTALL
Open up ODIN and click on PDA
Select Recovery.tar from the attachment you downloaded
Make sure ONLY "AUTO REBOOT" is checked
Click START
After you see the PASS on Odin and "Removed" Unplug
Power Off or Pull the battery
Use Volume Up and the Power till you see the SAMSUNG logo and let go of all. Wait for TWRP to boot, it took a little longer so your not stuck, just be patient.

UPDATED TWRP IMAGES AND .TAR ODIN FILES http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/jgedlte
-----------------------------------------
KNOWN ISSUES For 2.6.0.0 & 2.6.1.0: 8/31/2023 ( post any help info on further releases ) UPDATE 7/21/2014 I have not been using the I9505G for awhile now so I am not sure of any issues or bugs on the latest releases please post them in the thread.
I have used TWRP from the Team Win site and the Odin package image I put together here and I have noticed and reported 2 bugs. The first is you can get stuck on TWRP screen booting into recovery, just pull the battery or reflash again until it boots up. The second is that when you restore sometimes you will get a FAIL immediately, don't panic, (1) reflash a ROM, and Restore or (2), pull battery and reboot back into recovery and Restore or (3) wipe and then Restore.
This build has some minor issues but if you follow this guide you will be OK.
Thanks to the Folks at TEAM WIN RECOVERY PROJECT and Chahk
MJ (attached file is for 2.6.0.0) PLEASE DO NOT USE ATTACHED RECOVERY PLEASE USE THE LINK ABOVE FOR OFFICIAL TWRP RECOVERY

I did not try to do a Nandroid this was the image from Team Wins website so I don't think you will have any backup issues like some did with the I9505 image. Goo Manager is always the best option but a .tar comes in handy at times that is the only reason I converted their image.

This is big news, but the lack of replies has me worried. I need more brave souls to flash before me.
BTW, did this trip your counter MJ?
Apologies if I am completely wrong - but does this mean that if I use this recovery my phone will be 100% identical to the official S4GE? I assume that would make a lot more stable and efficient than the current dumbs we have been leaked?
Thanks in advance!

From my understanding this is just a TWRP recovery. It's not something that will make your phone a stock S4GE because this is a custom recovery. It's a custom recovery for the S4GE GT-I9505G.

If there is no difference between that .img and the one downloaded from goo.manager, Its freezing under advanced settings. Cant restore defaults. It froze on me trying to do a back up. Im sure there are several other issues as I have not had a chance to review the thread in general section yet, but just a few results from my own experience.
EDIT: I stand corrected, I thought I was getting freezes, I let it sit and it finally completed.

Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2476353 to get back to stock and start over.
Also, usb will still work in download mode (follow instructions in thread). If you have trouble getting your device recognized in ODIN then try a different USB slot. That solves 90% of the problems with ODIN.

So I downloaded those files and went through that process of installing so what I should do is odin those files then I should be able to hit vol down and powrr to get into ss since it doesn't pop up like safestrap usually does? Because all I see is the note 3 boot screen not the ss before that
You need to restore back to stock using the link i posted earlier.
Then root using kingo.
Install custom safestrap apk.
Install recovery in safestrap app.
Manually reboot into download mode.
Use ODIN and flash 'togetsafestap'.
Reboot and select recovery at startup.
Wipe everything except 'ext sd card'.
Install custom rom ( I recommend Knoxdroid 4.0 + Bobcat theme)
Clear dalvik and cache.
Reboot into download mode.
Use ODIN to flash 'togetbooting'.
Reboot into system.
Enjoy.
This is the best and fastest way to avoid any problems that may have been introduced with what has already been done. If you need any help just ask and feel free to search the dev threads.
