So I had a little accident with my captivate and my screen is dead...the phone is booting normally I think but I can't see anything at all just a black screen...
Is there a way I can mount the internal storage with adb commands or something to get some of my files transferred to my windows pc?
I did have the pattern lock enabled so I don't know if that would make a difference.
Thanks

If you had a custom ROM with CWM then you could 3 button combo in to CWM recovery and mount your drives that way.
Unfortunatly I had just flashed the gingerbread leak so no cwm was installed...

Have you tried adb? Assuming that you usb debugging enabled, you should be able to do 'adb pull /mnt/sdcard .' and get a full dump of your card.
If not, i think that using Heimdall you could always flash a build with adb enabled and debugging on. You could also probably use Odin, but I am unfamiliar with it.
Finally, check with at&t online tech support and see if they have suggestions. My experience may be atypical, but I find them far more tech savvy than other at&t support staff.
I'm sorry I cannot tell you exactly how to do this but mobiletechvideos youtube site has a video for this exact thing, damaged screens. There is a way to use your pc as your phone screen that way you can pull off what you need.
Hope this helps some.

Have you tried just plugging it in to your computer? If it is powered up, and usb debugging was off, you may be lucky enough to fully access your files on the internal sd.
worst case scenario:
flash a custom kernel through download mode with ODIN, reboot into recovery, and
"adb pull /sdcard /path/on/computer/you/want/files"
may have to run a mount command to get it to mount sdcard though
It happened after formatting it with NTFS (it was a temporary thing so I can use it with one of Microsoft services), and my device is working and rebooting properly without any error messages..So what can I do now to make my SD working again?
(I don't really need the data that was on it, I just need the card to work)
Thanks..

try formatting the card from within CWM, i presume if you boot up the phone you can't mount/unmount it and subsequently format it from within Android.
but i would try fromating it as FAT32 from within Windows 7 first, NTFS is not supported by Android to the best of my Knowladge...
Thanks, yes I can't format it in Android since i can't mount it, I've already tried formatting it from CWM with no luck, it showed this:
Formatting /sdcard...
Error mounting /sdcard!
Skipping format...
Done.
And windows doesn't see the card at all when I connect phone to PC, so I can't use windows to format it too.

Try a formatting tool or recovery tool in My Android Collections
olaf2k4
Turned out you're right, the problem is android not being able to handle NTFS properly, I tried to format external SD card with NTFS to see what will happen, and I had the EXACT same symptoms, but of course I removed from phone and had it formatted using card reader and it's working properly now with my phone..
xsenman
The problem now is that windows can't see internal card at all, I've tried one of format tools form the link you put, but it didn't help since phone "doesn't allow" windows to detect the memory, any other way to do it? right now I'm trying this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1724078
It seems like it isn't easy to install NTFS support from the link above (since you need fuse.ko file that should be compiled for both your device and ROM), is there any kernal that support NTFS or any other easy way to do it?
If you are talking about your external sd just format at fat32. This is standard for sdcards and your phone wil reconize your card..
Unfortunately it is the internal one..

Finally, I found a solution, just do the following (I tried it and it worked):
1. First install the drivers ONLY if you haven`t already installed them, also if you have Kies installed there is no need to install these drivers, but you are better off installing these anyway : http://dev-host.org/ZRA
2. Download this package (it includes i9000 stock rom+kernel+odin) : http://dev-host.org/RAE, if you have a Captivate or a Vibrant just download a stock rom for your phone model and find a kernel which has root and cwm in it.
NOTE : The next step will require using the 3 key combo for accessing the clockworkmod recovery and also the download mode. The 3 key combo used below is for the Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000. If you own a Captivate or a Vibrant please click this link and choose your phone model to see what 3 key combo must be used, as it differs from one phone model to another : http://tinyurl.com/6q6ajpx
3. After you have extracted all the contents you downloaded and installed drivers, put your phone into download mode using the 3 key combo : volume DOWN + home button+power button, keep those pressed until it goes into download mode.
4. Connect phone to PC via USB Cable and open Odin (windows should detect the phone and install some drivers, after it`s finished you should see the message "Added!" in Odin which means Odin succesfully detected your phone so now you are ready to flash)>check Re-Partition Option>press PIT button and browse for the s1_odin_20100512.pit file, press BOOTLOADER button and browse for the APBOOT… file, press PDA button and browse for the CODE….file, press PHONE button and browse for the MODEM….file, press CSC button and browse for the GT-I9000-CSC….file. PRESS START button and wait for the green pass notification in Odin.
• When the phone reboots into the rom, wait for the setup wizard to appear and then just use the 3 key combo into the download mode again.
Close Odin and open it again> press PDA button and browse for CF-Root…file> Press START button and wait for the green pass notification in Odin.

No need to do all this.
Just:
- remove external sd card (if you have one inserted)
- reboot into CWM-based recovery
- mounts and storage
- mount USB storage
You will be able to see and format, FAT32, the disk using windows

I tried your method, but selecting "Mount USB" was throwing the error i mentioned in my last post. Though i solved it eventually. Somehow i ended up in the phone's own recovery/bootloader menu, had an option of "Low level format" there. Took around an hour or so .. but it worked :good:
This morning I was playing around in CWM and clicked on format external sdcard
Well for some reason it formatted my internal card and I lost everything. I tried using a backup cwm made I guess prior to doing all that but it says MD5 mismatch.
I tried using cwm to get into usb mode but that didn't work.
I also tried using the sideload option but that also didn't work.
Tried getting into download mode and it still only boots to recovery.
How do I get a new rom put back on there?
clockworkmod has a way to mount internal storage on you PC while in recovery. Go to mounts and storage section in recovery and way at the bottom it says mount as USB storage. Plug your phone into your PC and wait for it to find drivers. I would recommend a internet connected windows 7 PC cause that's what I used and it worked fine.
You might have to unplug it and plug it back in once after the drivers are installed.

I just tried what you suggested and it doesn't work either....I think I really got it messed up...but I still think it can be fixed.
After doing what you said CWM says Error: mounting /data
I'm pretty sure my entire file system has been wiped clean.

I used a 32GB sdcard. I think it is a Patriot. So you mean, it should be possible to mount an external sdcard with TWRP and install from it? In the meantime I could solve it using the advanced options. There was nothing under /sdcard but the install-image under /emmc. So I copied it with TWRP to /sdcard and then thank God the installation worked after a few tries.

for two days now i've been trying to get jellybean 4.1.2 onto my galaxy s plus. i used odin multi-downloader to do the things suggested and when i get to the part involving the zip file on the sd card everything goes south. it gives me a "cannot mount" message and now basically the phone can either be put into downloading or recovery mode. i'm making a last attempt to get something going using the pda button and a zip file. but it's been over an hour now and i don't think i've resolved anything. got this message initially "<1> setup connection..." but the clock just keeps on ticking away.
i'm desperate and feeling stupid. and tired. time for bed. maybe someone can help walk me through this again.

that message is normal, you have the roms in external sd or internal? if they are in external sd you have to search with "internal sd" option (is an error, internal sd shows you the content of external sd and sd shows you the content of internal one). make a factory reset and then try to flash one of the rom you have on your sd (if you can find them), if you want 4.1.2 rom i suggest you ivendor's one

After having some problems with my Xperia T (random reboots, reboot loops, crashes) on stock Android 4.3 I decided to give it a go and try to install Omnirom 4.4
I tried to follow this procedure to install Omnirom
1. I unlocked the bootloader using Sony's guide
2. Got root through towelroot
3. I installed TWRP, which seems to be recommend for the Xperia T, TWRP installed BusyBox Free (no idea what this does, but TWRP recommended installing this.
This is as far as I got. The problem I have is that I don't have access to the internal SDcard (my phone does not have a removable sdcard) when connected via USB to my computer.
The internal SD Card does not appear as 'mass storage' in my windows explorer, nor does the phone give me the option to access the internal sdcard as a storage device.
Therefore I cannot copy the Omnirom zip and the GAPPS to the internal sdcard.
I'm stuck here. I tried searching the web, but got no solution.
Anybody who give me a little help here?
I think you can mount the SD-card from TWRP, then you can access it from your computer. Not a TWRP user myself, but that's how it works from CWM

- USB-OTG location
What is what? And where should they point to?
Currently they are set to:
- External storage location: /storaga/sdcard0/media
- USB-OTG location: /storage/sdcard0
I can see the contents of the 'sdcard' but have no idea what to mount where.....
Seems right.
USB OTG is when you plug in a usb stick to your phone. So pretty unimportant.
Why cant you download the Omni zip with your phone?

If you have ADB drivers installed (from the Flashtools folder, for instance), you can access your entire phone through ADB while in recovery. Mounting USB storage to transfer files between TWRP and my PC has never worked for me; it has worked on CWM though, although I haven't used that method in ages since I prefer ADB.

Ok, I managed to get the omni rom .zip and gapps.zip to the sdcard using the adb push command.
I tried to install this via TWRP and select the zip file. Unfortunately when selecting 'reboot to recovery' in TWRP nothing seems to happen. The phone reboots, Sony and Xperia logo appear and the phone just starts as normal....
I can't get the phone into recovery. I tried to push the volume up, volume down, holding the volume up/down, push repeatingly .... etc nothing seems to work...
Some more info
- I verified that I'm root
- I reinstalled TWRP
- I downloaded and installed the recovery image in TWRP (for the xperia t this is 'mint')
- I tried other recovery tools such as Clockworkmod, but my device is no supported
- I tried 'Quickboot tool' to get into recovery, doesn't make any difference....
What am I missing?
I forgot to thank everybody who helped me out on this.
I managed to get access to the sd card, push customs roms (CM10 an CM11) and flash my phone. Unfortunately nothing helped fixing my Xperia T reboot problem. I flashed it back to the original Sony rom and returned it to the shop, up to 3 weeks without phone....
