Hey guys. I just got my Galaxy Note one week ago and I am still on my learning path. The specifications mentioned a digital compass, but I can't find it! Is it preinstalled or do I have to download and install. Thx in advance. Btw I am on rooted gingerbread 2.3.6 jpkk2.

Yoy may install an app to use it. There is not app by default.
You can also check out Google Maps, touch the compass icon on the top right screen. Pretty cool feature
Thanks for the advice .. downloaded and installed from Samsung Apps
I am using Compass Apps from android market.

Hey guys,
I'm new to the whole android scene so bear with me.
About 2 days ago i installed CM7 on my SGS and all went fine except Google apps.
I Flashed Google apps and got mail and android market but i didn't get Maps or Youtube app.
Any suggestion as to why this happened?
Thanks
Bobby
If you have the market working then YouTube and maps can be found there. I'm not too familiar with cm7 but they should still be available from the market.
Good luck.

I used to have this app, but now when I go to the market, the app is there, but the download link isn't. I noticed this with a few other Apps to... Anyone know why this happens? with the other app, I found the latest apk file and installed from there and this fixed the market link.
If it helps, i'm on pinnacle 1.2.
In the meantime, Anyone have the apk for the new mango?

Thanks for checking your market. I'm wondering if it may be because i'm in Canada and maybe there are some restrictions because of that.
Just to clarify my first post, I do find these apps in the market, but most of them do not have download buttons. If I find the corresponding apk and install from there though, then next time I look in the market, the update /uninstall buttons are there.
Once again, thanks for your help. I'll try another rom and see if it's different

I found the problem! I had changed my screen dpi, which seems to have caused some of the download buttons to disappear on the market. Just restated with native resolution and that solved the problem.
I hope that this can help people on the future.
And thanks to the dude that checked their market fir me. I'll thank you when I get to a computer

i have Nexus s with ics 4 i want navigation app that will work good thanks .
Sorry with ICS they decided there was no need for navigation, so no new phones will have it. You'll have to buy an iPhone if you want navigation and buy an app that's over $9000.
Try Sygic GPS, works here on CM9aplha11.
Search the Sygic support forums, there is a beta version for ICS...
TeleNav Navigation from the market

Hi! Im trying to find out if there is a way to get google navigation on my nexus running ics here in the philippines without rooting. The fix that i read from other threads requires rooting and i dont really want to do that. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

You could take a look at this thread here: [APP MOD] Google Maps 6.4.0 ownhere/Brut.all- NAVIGATION all roads.
There are 3 installation methods there.
From what I read, one method requires no root access, so you could give it a try.
Anyway, I used the third method using Root Explorer (replacing the apk & setting permissions).
Navigation works fine now in Indonesia.
also i confirm Sygic works, CM9 alpha
not perfect (app crashed one time over three usage) but works smoothly
I just got my Galaxy Note today, switching from Galaxy S2 , everything works perfectly and I loved the massive screen very much,
One thing brothers me, the Note come with the old version Market, like my old S2 does but my S2 will auto update the Market to the newer version with revamped UI and stuffs but my Note doesn't do that, it still run the old UI Market.
Anyone have the same problem? any way to update the new market? Thanks
You can download the new one by downloading the apk from the app and games section (main section, not Note).

Turn on auto sync and wait a little while. Then go to Market and see if it updates.

Thanks for the answer : ), I downloaded the latest 3.4.4 and installed manually. Thanks again
Hi,
I recently got note and previously I had HTC desire. After switching I found 2 things so difficult to adopt.
1. Very less widgets here than in my desire. No Samsung widgets for music, FM radio widget, gmail n Facebook separate etc.
2. The App drawer window. It just get grouped randomly in my grid view. Can that be sorted out based on alphabets?
3. Can I able to use HTC widgets apks for getting my ease back.
Any sites about reasonable Samsung galaxy note widgets will be much useful.
Hoping to get a solution for this probs.

2. Try appzorter from the market. Its how I keep my apps sorted alphabetically. Seems strange that its not done automatically but eh.
3. You can't run HTC widget without running sense and I can't imagine that will ever get ported to the note.
As for 1 you'll just have to find alternatives from the market
