[Q] Deleting factory bookmarks - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Since going to 2.3.5 (Fusion XII and now Serenity) I haven't been able to delete the factory bookmarks that came with the default browser. In earlier versions I could go to history and unchecked the star to get rid of the bookmarks, but that doesn't work in 2.3.5. I've searched but can't find anything. Anybody have any ideas?

Download Bookmarks Manager App from Google Market, and you will be able to Delete the default bookmarks.

Cool. That did the trick. Thanks.

[Q] Folder Organizer/Sprite Backup [SOLVED]

I used Sprite backup for my contacts, messages, bookmarks etc. However, when I restored, the bookmarks didn;t take in the web browser (Using Cognition 2.2 BETA). No biggie. But when I use Folder Organizer, they show up there. Now this isn't a problem, except for the fact that I can't seem to delete any of them.
Can anyone tell me where Folder Organizer gets the info for displaying these bookmarks so that maybe I can delete that and start over?
EDIT: Now it looks like I can't even add new bookmarks within the browser...grr... Well, it seems I can add NEW bookmarks, but if it's a book mark that I had before (one that Folder Organizer is showing) it won't add.
EDIT: I solved it by downloading Bookmark Organizer from the Market.

[Q] Anyone Successfully Replaced the Contacts App?

Well, I've got gmail (with two accounts, even) and the market set up with the instructions at http://nookdevs.com/Enable_the_Android_Market. And I've even installed both the Calendar and CorpCalendar using the APKs in a copy of update-cm-5.0.8-Droid-signed.zip (found, among other places, here: http://thekilpatrickproject.com/downloads/koush/motorola/sholes/)
But when I push over Contacts.apk and ContactsProvider.apk, nothing noticeable happens. I've still got the Nook contacts app.
Anybody had any luck with this? I'd really like not only to have the stock Android Contacts, but also to be able to sync them w/google AND have the autocomplete working in gmail ...

Bookmarks not showing up in browser

I used MyBookmarks to import from Firefox.
Import to android was successful, since when I start typing sth. in Google Search widget- bookmarked sites addreses show up.
BUT
In default browser- bookmarks tab is empty. So now the only way to get to them is through Google Search.
Any way to fix this ?
Already tried: clear cache/clear data/reset browser combineed with re-downloading bookmarks through MyBookmarks.
I had a similar problem after importing my bookmarks.
They did show up in my "most visites" tab page. From there I unchecked the 'star-icon' (wait till it tells you that it's removed from your bookmarks) and checked it again (it will tell you that it's added to your bookmarks) and this corrected the overview of bookmarks.
Hope this helps for you as well.

Pre-Installed Bookmarks

Anybody know how to edit the system settings that set the default pre-installed bookmarks in the stock browser? I am using Dolphin for Pad and Dolphin HD but neither of them seems to want to play nice on my 8.9 LTE. So I have to use the stock browser a lot of the time and I absolutely hate that they will not allow you to remove the pre-installed bookmarks. What a bunch of morons forcing that kind of stuff on us. Anyway what file or system setting would possibly eradicate these annoying bookmarks?
If i setup sync with google crome, it offers to delete all locally stored bookmarks.

This apparently does not work anymore, http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=63eebdb9d371658d&hl=en&start=40
Is there any way to get rid of these crappy stock bookmarks?
Longpress the bookmark and click delete

These are bookmarks that cannot be removed that way, they are carrier forced and protected bookmarks.
Alright. Sorry. Didn´t know. You can see my edit.

Except, of course, that that guy complaining to Google is full of ****. It works. Was working on mine from day 1. And I just factory reset my Tab this morning and set it all up again and it still nukes the AT&T bookmarks just fine when doing a Chrome sync.
Of course, you need to actually have Chrome bookmarks to sync. If you're using Firesux, Suxfari or Exploder, that ain't gonna help.

At that link I provided to a google forum its not one guy, its many many many people.
I have still yet to get bookmarks to sync properly between chrome and my 8.9 LTE.
Bookmark sync works for me, on 4 devices. Some time ago i had problems on GT10.1 but i believe this was a problem with Samsung firmware.
Well I finally managed to get rid of those damn ATT bookmarks.
Tried everything, kies sync, chrome sync, all the other things I found on the web.
The only way I was able to get rid of them was to manually edit the browsers sqlite database with SQLite Editor.
Using that I was able to fully nuke those links!
Yay!

Would you mind outlining the steps you took to edit the db file and where you found it in would love to do the same thing.
Sent from my SGH-I727 using XDA App
My google bookmarks don't sync correctly. It only syncs some of the bookmarks.

Browser question

I'm still on android 6.0, pure ROM, and have been using the Material aosp browser made for the M8, and just have to install the bookmarks sync.apk after flashing and get all my google bookmarks. I like the browser because you can set the user agent, it has a home button (seriously, why do they make browsers without a home button?) And I get all my bookmarks. Recently upgraded to the latest pure 7.1, cannot get bookmarks sync to work at all, tried several other browsers and apps, could not find anything that would sync my bookmarks. These are not through chrome, just the bookmarks that are in my google account. Deal breaker for me, I ended up restoring back.
Any alternative ways to get a browser that will sync with my google account, or way to install them manually?
