[Q] Is this a "bricked" Note? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey every1!
I was hoping that my first post here would be something more funny then this... But... you can´t always get what you wan´t.
My problem... My note is completly dead!
I was messing around with editing some pictures i just took on the kids when my phone just frooze... I then held the powerbutton for about 15sec before it died. After that... stonedead!
No matter what i do with it, it´s just black and doesn´t respond to anything.
- Had 20+% battery in it when it frooze, i´ve tried to charge it but no difference.
- Had the battery pulled for 30mins+ , no change.
- Can´t get to recovery mode whatever i do.
- Connected it do the computer, no sound no nuttin.
The phone is/was rooted, running rocketrom V.20 with abyssnote kernel 3.3 when it died.
Haven´t had any issues with it until now.
So... Any ideas on what i should try next? Besides using it as a really expensive paperweight that is
HELP!! =)
/Swe

dude dont worry , may be you need to charge your mobile then turn it on ( i hope it's just battery dead)

Hold the power button for 30 seconds or more just to be sure it's resetting

Not OC no... undervolted thoo... but have been running the same UV setting for 3 weeks.

Must be hardware problem, no doubt about it.

Try charging it for a while and then press the power button for 10-20 seconds.
Hope it's that simple! Good luck!

Well... Been charging the brick overnight (12+ hours), and still not a single sign of life.
I guess there's nuttin more to it then to return it.
Hopefully they won't notice the root and custom rom and kernel, i meen... It's completly dead so it shouldn't be a problem right?!

If you find, try other battery once.
- Use JIG
Switch off your phone and take out the battery for 15-20 seconds
Install the battery back but DO NOT turn it on
Plug this USB JIG DONGLE into the micro-USB port of the phone
Wait for a few seconds. You should see the Download Mode logo on the screen.
Unplug the module.

If i had a jig i would have tried that for sure. However, i got fed up on trying so it's now returned to the store and sent away for service.
Ty every1 for ur efforts with trying to aid me!

I would be interested to see what Samsung say if they noticed the root... might make me think twice about rooting it on such a expensive device. Good luck though!

Hey!
Yes, great news actually!
I got it back like 5 days ago...
And, it was the main circuit board that had faulted! That ment they couldn´t get the info of it ,or atleast they decided that it would be to much trouble to do so.
So it´s now back and running again... rooted, running RR v22 and franco kernel v6
Didn´t cost me anything
Hopefully it won´t happen again thoo... I can´t be without it anymore! Used my old 3gs when it was on service... goddam hated it!

First and for most I want to congratulate you on having your phone back & fully functional again. I too am in the same situation right now where my phone is hard bricked and can't turn on in any shape or form. I sen't it to a local shop to fix who do Jtag for this phone but say they can't get it to start. I wanted to know when you said "the main circuit board that had faulted" did they replace any parts? or just flash software with JTag again? Any help would be really appreciated.

Did yummy take out the battery and then insert it and den did yu try booting it up????
press thanx if I helped yu sent from sga

Ummm, plug it in and leave it alone for a few hours...
Ok I guess I should ask, were you flashing anything before your battery ran out ? That kind of information would be helpful.

Powered off for a little? TURN IT OFF. LEAVE IT PLUGGED IN.
Sometimes I must resist the urge to tell people who have android phones to just turn around and return it. Android is not for everyone, despite having a huge market share.

If that doesn't work then use Odin to get back to stock.

OG SGT won't charge

My Fiancée has been using my SGT since I got my Flyer last year, and has had no problems until recently. A few days ago, it stopped taking a charge altogether. It says it's charging, but is stuck at 8%.
I'm wondering if any one else has experienced this, and if it can be corrected without a factory reset (she doesn't want to lose progress in her apps, and won't let me root because I soft bricked it soon after I got it, and couldn't find the fix for a month.)
I know the fix is probably a factory reset... Can someone please remind me how to get into stock recovery to clear the cache? I can't remember the key combination.
Most likely I'll have to root it, and back up all her junk, factory reset, and leave it on a stock rooted rom (I'll just tell her I unrooted... Lol)

Thanks, hadn't had to do that in a while... I thought about it, and I don't think I'd even be able to root/flash with 8% battery... Any thoughts on how I could pull this off?
My tab's Flyer than yours (unless this is posted in a Flyer thread... Then it's just as Flyer...)

root is quick.
flash may take a while.
but depending on how good is the charge holding. 8% may still pull it.

One thing you might want to try is to turn your tab off completely and let it charge. Once you figure out how to root, you can try battery calibration app. It may fix ur prob. Worst case you may need new cable/adapter/battery.

I did that actually, and no difference in result... I'm hoping I don't need to replace the battery...
Does the bootstrap app still work? Thats how I rooted originally, but I think it was still on froyo?

well, this is how i solved it...
if it's rooted...
use battery calibrator....
or keep tab switched off for 4 hours or so...and then connect it to charger while switched off
if this also doesn't help then after connecting to charger while it's still off you can see a battery icon charging...simultaneously press switch on button and touch the screen ....if on aokp rom your tab will instantly reboot as i've noticed....if on stock rom which i was on when this thing happened to me....your tab will show a black screen and then again the battery charging icon shoots up....
One of the above things worked for me....i was enjoying my vacations when i encountered this problem and so i cannot remember exactly which of these things worked....
Hit thanks if i've helped..
calibrate your battery.. use third apps on play store

Thanks guys, but it's not rooted...
So I was about to factory reset it, and took the SD out, then decided to wait so that I could at least copy the files from the internal to my laptop to give her SOMETHING back... I went back a few hours later, and it had a 73% charge... I don't know what it was, but somehow, taking the SD out, and putting it back in fixed the problem...
I think I'm still gonna root it for safety's sake, but it's still taking a charge, and is up to 80% now...
My tab's Flyer than yours (unless this is posted in a Flyer thread... Then it's just as Flyer...)

Keep an eye on it
My tab also suddenly started charging....but after an increase of about 20% or so it again stuck....many people here got this problem....
Did u try the other two solutions.......try them......one of these three things worked for me and after that I never had this problem...
Best of luck...

My Phone wont boot! Help!

So, I was just charging my phone and i unlocked it, and was just
scrolling through the menu and BAM! it switched off!
I tried switching it on again, the phone would'nt boot, the light comes up for a sec and then switches off itself again!
and the same light would appear again, and again.
About 10 mins later, i put it for charge for about 30 Mins, it booted, but switched off half way through the boot animation.
I've lately been having some Major problems with my battery, If i charge it for 2 Hours, And I hardly get about 5 mins on Wi-fi,
is this a problem with my battery or is something wrong with my phone?
Im currently using Adrenaline v3 rom.
Please Help! Urgent!
It may be a hardware problem...now what you should do is flash a stock rom via ODIN...if the problem still persists, you best bet is sending it to the service centre and act dumb...

When I charge for 2-3 Hours, I get only 10-15 minutes!

[Q] My phone dislikes me.

I was running Sabsa Prime 8.5 on the Redux 0.8 Sabsa kernel when this happened.
I pressed reboot recovery from the power menu and the phone ran the shut down animation and the screen went black.
Unfortunately it never powered back on.
Now it shows no charge light, i have left the battery out for a good 10 minutes, tried running it without the battery, no luck.
I know it is not bricked, but, it has happened before and i never figured out how i fixed it.
I was also running 4ext touch recovery.
Thanks guys.

It's a issue with the battery + USB port.
Your battery drained to much probably because you plunged your device in and your device was charging as USB or not at all.
Plug battery and charger in, wait and look if it battery light is there, wait a bit and try to boot it again. Do you have blackrose?

Unfortunately the phone will not respond at all.
previous times, i would repeatedly take the battery out, put it back in etc and it would boot.
last time i did it, i remember fiddling around with the charging connector a bit and the orange light came on.
what is strange, is that the phone usually charges fine without me fiddling with it :S
At least i know it isn't hardbricked
Thanks again

I have a similar problem, Some times, my phone just go in charging status when no cable is connected. Also, some times, the cable is connected and charging is shown on the screen but actually battery is not charging instead draining battery much more rapidly.... I connected my phone to PC when it had 13% battery.... and after an hour its left with just 2% showing charging status .... it not happens every time but happens a lot!
So far I have reflashed different ROM 2-3 time with full wipe/reset. I have also updated to XXLQB fimware using odin.... so far no improvement! :crying:
the situasions you guys having will finally end up in bricking the device.
i had exact the same problem, it started with random charging while not plugged, then not charging when plugged in. next thing was that my phone didnt get discovered by a pc in any mode. last thing happen was it never turned on after a restart.
ssc replaced a part where you plug the cable and earphones in. everything is back to normal since then.

well, mine was 'fine' too, but all of a sudden it wasn't.
there's propably no easy way to avoid anything that has sth to do with hardware. using originall accesories is the only thing that comes to my mind.
tbh, i have the invoice somewhere, for the parts that've been replaced. thats the only lead what went wtong with my phone.

So it is a hardware problem. I was truly wishing it has some thing to do with firmware... I have one last hope by trying to downgrade to GB.

I would love to hear an angel saying that it is a software/firmware issue and can be fix without fiddling the hardware. Is there any?
