the easiest way is to download a home alternative and download the themes that are compatible with whichever one you choose, or root the phone and then install themes that way.

Where do I find this home alternative and how do I root? Guess I wll have to go and research on the site. Thanks!
in the android marketplace. do a search for open home, ahome, or dxtop. i think they all have lite versions so you can try it out without paying and then they have the paid versions. i personally like open home the best but it all comes down to personal opinion. before you root make sure you read through it and understand what steps you have to do. heres the link to root your phone:

with the post above that gives the walk through there is another way to root your phone, search for app that roots your phone and try it out. if you have any questions about either process i can help send either pm or a message here and i'll answer asap. but please read through the entire walkthrough or app thread pending which you decide to do before asking questions

Question about wifi tether and Rom

okay I'm a newbie at all of this but I managed to root my hero thanks to regaw for the epic work, and to a few members who helped me with other issues
enough of that, I really didn't root for roms or themes, just for wi-fi tether.
My question is I'm running rooted sprint .5 update with the stock sprint rom.
can someone point me to a stable wifi tether release @ their website? the one I have gives me frequent disconnects ;(
The other question is I tried to install darch's 2.7 rom(just to see what all the fuss about them roms was about, which I so far like ) but i had to revert to stock because I was @ work and I would like to know how can I install the android market.
I downloaded the google ****s and got the marketupdater.apk and youtube.apk uploaded to my dropbox account but when I downloaded them to the phone they would not install after selecting them from the browser's downloads section
Thanks for the help
and did anyone see the first iphone 4 camper?

This should help http://tinyurl.com/2dojxtt . Use the first link.
The above poster,
You are a ****.
With the time it took you to make that link you could have provided me with an answer...
The problem I'm having is that the version of wifi tether I have doesnt work, I didnt ask where to get it...
Wow, settle down the e-nastiness. Learn to have a sense of humor. Everyone uses the LMGTFY around forums. You asked for a website with a stable release. I gave you one. Oh, and it has taken me longer to type this response then it did for me to post that link. I use this one and it works flawlessly. http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/detail?name=wireless_tether_2_0_2.apk .

Recently Rooted moto Droid Question

Hey everyone,
I recently rooted my moto droid and was wondering now that I have done this can I drop 1.5 or any other OS on there that I choose? Also, if that is possible can someone post a link or tell me how to go about doing this. That being said, I was also wondering if there is a way to easily switch between android versions for development.
Thanks for your time and help,
Tommy
Here is a link to droidforums. It has links to most rooted Tom's for Droid.

You can also try other sites like alldroid.org, phandroid. The developers site which is "xda" and "sdx". There are many others so just search around they all have forums for different devices for this information. One of the most helpful I've found for noobs was unlocked.com. give it a try.

Look-up RomManager in the marketplace if you will be moving between versions alot, it handles these changes very well.
As to going to previous versions I can not say for sure. In theory yes but you will ether have to find a pre-made Droid rom or build it yourself.
Thanks!
Thank you both for the replies and information. I will continue my research and see what I can dig up. Hopefully I can find a 1.5 rom as building it myself is a little out of my ability right now.
Yes rom manager would be a good idea forgot to mention it. It works great for switching roms I just have a little problem with mount sdcard in clockworkmod recovery so mine will reboot after entering recovery and rom manager doesn't help some times but it seems to work great for most devices. My problem is I have to reformat sdcard because I came from Eris and I don't want to till I can get a computer to backup info on it.

Sent from my CDMA Hero. I got some hot Gingerbread-on-Hero action here!
can you give me a specific link?
i found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=717416&highlight=Root+Sprint+Hero
But my phone runs 2.32.651.2
Z4Root works from my experience, Also super one click root works. Make sure you install busybox and superuser app from the market otherwise you won't know if you're really rooted and it wont seem you are. After that go and get ROM Manager and flash CWM (you'll know what im talking about when you get there). From there you can snoop around the development forums and grab tons of stuff with step by step guides to tweak and modify your phone to perfection

pathsaver

does anyone have the pathsaver i am currently on 902 and i want to root and flash ics but all the links seem to be broken someone please give me a working link or upload one to mediashare or something would be much appreciated..

Don't ask me why they don't have it in the Droid Bionic section because that part doesn't make sense. For some reason, they put it in Android Development and Hacking/Android Software and Hacking General.
