Has anyone been able to get the Droid X Keyboard to work with the Hero? I'm running Fresh 3.3 and am able to install it and select it after a long press on a text input box, but no keyboard comes up.

you have to install the lib's from the stock keyboard to get it working on any htc phone. there is a AOSP keyboard in the themes adn apps section just install that and the droidx keyboard will work perfectly.
check here
That worked! I like this keyboard =D

Good Morning!
Anyone knows if is possible/and how install stock Gingerbread keyboard and enable the imput method selection in settings?
I'm using the Endeless7 20111020 ROM (CY7), but I pull out CY themes and apps and just installed stock GB apps and launcher.
I still have the Swype keyboard (only one that works) and Moto input method (Chinese).
Thank you all!
Best regards.

haven't seen it here. did you search for it on the development forum?
Hey guys, when I installed GXR in my X8 it comes with a 'Android keyboard' (as described in Language & Keyboard setting).
While typing, accidentaly I press the button with the option to change between 'Default input' (the default keyboard of X8) and the 'android keyboard', and select to change it to default.
I tryed to search in the Dev tools, spare parts and settings, but I was unable to return to the custom keyboard, since the default doesn't have the option to change...
I found in the forum how to install other kb, but if someone knows how to get to previous, will be better.
Thanks..
Go on to messaging app. Where u type ur message keep ur finger pressed and go onto input method then select android keyboard.

Very simple.. Why I spend 2 hours trying to find it??
Thanks
Hello guys,
1. When I set phone to silent mode and vibrating (on notifications, example incoming text message), it doesn't vibrate. Can anyone confirm?
2. Any way to install Samsung original Mms.apk? Sometimes I need to send text messages to multiple persons. CM version of Mms.apk doesn't have that option, I think. Can anyone confirm?
3. When I was in stock ROM, cell numbers were saved as 09568483828 or +479349342671. I used Super Backup to back up all my contacts. The extension was .vcf (Samsung's is .spb I think). After installing CyanogenMod, I restored the contacts using the .vcf file. All good. But the numbers have been automatically formated as 095-684-83828 (WITH DASHES). Any way to return it to its original appearance? (no dashes)
4. I'm now using Samsung keypad. I can't find the option to go back to using Android keyboard (keypad). "Settings -> Language & keyboard"
only shows the "Keyboard settings". There's no way to switch between Samsung keypad and Android keypad. Can anyone confirm?
5. Anyway to install Google Play?
6. When I was in stock ROM, "adb devices" typed in command prompt worked (device was found). Not so with CyanogenMod. Can anyone confirm?
7. In Contacts (CM version), how can I delete all contacts at once?
I'm not complaining, I absolutely love CM. These are minor problems that I can live with. I just need to confirm it with you guys to see if I'm missing anything.
Thanks!!!!
Download and install this :
http://dl.xda-developers.com/attach...c560/7/7/6/4/0/5/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
there is Google Play
I don't know how you can install original Mms.apk, but you can download a third party app from play. And vibrate works fine for me but I had to go into thee settings of the app and turn on vibrate.

this one i use on the stock v20c rom, so if you are on stock you can try out, CM is also possible since the keyboard was integrated...correct me if i am wrong.
I just installed the JB keyboard on my Xperia Play running CM 10 and believe it or not works without a problem.
Edit: also it seems that it has some extra options in advanced settings. Like theme changing, One hand keyboard, split in landscape mode and Extend keyboard having the numbers above the QWERTY keys.
But the themes, some options and autocorrection does not work withouth the propper files for them.

Thanks for The feedback, i am actually using one of the 4 keyboard themes, quite nice. I will try to extract the theme apk and upload later, maybe you like to test. Is the path writing working? Which options are not working then?

So I installed your APK on my Xperia Play.
Autocorrection/Word Suggestion - Does work, it's just that I was on Google Now and it wasn't showing up. This also means that Auto Capitalize/Punctuation works aswell.
Touch Feedback - Sound works, Vibration or it doesn't or because the mecchanics on the two devices are different by hardware.
Handwriting - Works.
Path Keyboard - Works.
Keyboard Theme - Only Optimus. Selecting a different theme doesn't change, so I think the files are missing.
Hide Keyboard - Works.
One Hand Keyboard - Works.
Split keyboard - Doesn't work.
Extend keyboard - Works.
I transfered the APK file on the device and installed it right away, seemed to work.
Tho I tried to test it on 4X and it doesn't install, so I tried to replace it in the system/app folder and it removed compleatly the LG keyboard, tho I forgot to remove the .odex file and reboot. Might work but probably I did it wrong.
Edit: I might be wrong, but I think that by deodexing the .apk added these extra Advanced Options. On Stock LG they are missing and the theme doesn't change reguardless changing it from the Home Screen.
The official version, Google Keyboard arrived in the Play store today (AFAIK) - same as JB KB but seems more responsive and has some extra features.
