I recently flashed Saurom ROM kk4. after I backed up my phone I noticed that the conversations do not show up in messaging. They all are there, if someone sends a message I see the whole conversation but not when I open the messaging from scratch. This has never happened b4. Any ideas what to do. I tried changing out the apk but no luck

Has anyone else had a problem with handcent where it starts off handling mms fine, then it suddenly stops showing them unless you start a new text with someone who had sent an mms - it will show up there but after you hit send you can no longer see that message again...till you start a new text....weird...

I noticed the same thing with certain contacts (not all) for SMS (I don't receive many/any MMS typically) using Handcent. I could only see if someone replied by attempting to compose another text to them, as the convo did not show up in the conversation list. I thought it had something to do with flashing the CM6 nightly on 9/7/10, as that is when the problem seemed to begin.
I ended up uninstallling Handcent and reinstalling (yeah, a PITA to re-create all my settings). It seems to have fixed the issues I had but again, I haven't tried MMS in several days.
I think I am ready to give up on it...I liked it solely because you can stop your texts from scrolling on the task bar...from what I can tell, neither stock or chomp can do that...

only problems i have been having is if i send Mms to somebody without a android phone they only get a error message of somesort.
Hand cent works perfectly for me. I had one little hiccup, but it wasn't hand cent. Mms quit working completely. Just had to go to /data/data/com.telephony.blah blah and erase telephony.db then reboot and instant fix.

The same thing happened to me a few times. I went into app > manage applications > handcent SMS > clear data.
Its sucks because you loose you custom colors setup (if you have them) but everything pops back up

Alright. I bought Bell's Version of the of the galaxy s.
Within the first few days i messaged someone using a accidental area code (426) Instead of 416.
and now i cannot figure out how to change it back.
Every time i receive a message from said person, it sets my reply path to 426.
So I receive messages in one thread but have to reply in another.
I've also installed handcent
From what i can tell, its not saved on my sim or contacts.
I'm so lost
Please help.
Edit:
I'm also rooted
If that makes any difference.

login to your gmail account update the user phone number in your gmail account
then sync the phone
if you have a duplicated contact in phone and gmail, merge them
Well the number is kinda not saved in contacts
Like its a problem I have with messaging
The 416 number issaved.
Thee 426 is not.
I synced it sand edited out but it still happens

I'm on Cm7 with Gosmspro installed.. All my text convos are completely out of order.. Like in groups. But my outgoing are in a group Above the incoming.. Super effin annoying. Checked settings in both apps but can't find anything tht looks like the cause... Ideas?

If i remember correctly, this was a problem with it changing the time that the messages are received on your phone. There is an option in the settings menu of GOSMS to offset the time, you have to mess around with it to get the right timing. I dont remember much about it, sorry.
I only ever had that problem when restoring Tex messages from back ups. Even though the time was out of order they still stayed in the right order on my phone. Until I restored them. So I stopped restoring them after a flash.
I want to say FireFly has a fix for that, but its only MMS, not texts. Don't know if its compatible with GB.

I am using Stock GB version 20G... My Messaging App is showing "1" home screen but there are no texts. I have tired.. Battery pull, trying another sim card, deleted Messages data...
I can't think of anything else to try and don't want to do a hardware reset...
Any ideas???.
I had the same problem and solved by deleting the sms database.
You have to delete /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db
That's the SMS database file. After that, reboot your phone and try to receive a SMS to regenerate the file.
You can backup that file just in case.
Cheers!

When ever iv had that problem I just waited for another message and it cleared the 1 away.
Still got it showing 1 on the homescreen Messaging app. Deleted all android data on internal sd & external sd. Been texting off/on since it happened Friday. Just trying to ignore it but am sure it will delete itself after a couple of weeks lol (I hope).
U could try flash a new ROM if u want. Lol
For me, deleting the file with Root Explorer did the trick.

Just thought I would mention that its strangely sorted it self lol. As it was New Years, sent loads of texts and let them build up and it was showing 23 on Messaging App. Left them for a while and then started to read each one.
For some reason, this then refreshed the amount of messages and its not showing any texts unread now . Seems yet another bug with the O2X?.

If you are using an alternative messaging app, then you need to disable the notifications from the stock messaging app. Otherwise it will always be showing that there are unread messages.

Try and send yourself loads of texts and let them build up.. Then click on them one by one. That's what sorted mine, but got 23 texts from.different people on New Years Eve lol.
So I installed evolve SMS and everything was ok. Now after a day when a new text comes in and I reply it just disappears when I press send.
I uninstalled evolve SMS and have the same issue with my stock SMS app.
Any ideas as to what it might be or a fix??

reinstall stock sms from stock firmware zip.
if still nothing restore from backup
if you dont have a back up time for a factory wipe.
if you still have the same issue sounds like something got deleted and you need to restore to stock and re root.
I'm not rooted so how would I reinstall the stock app. I haven't deleted anything.

If you're not rooted and not custom, might go to the carrier and ask them to fix it.
