Hello just wondering how you all felt about the vivd,battery life stock,battery life with custom roms?Whats your honest opinion?

Its a great device, i love it. Despite the reviews on poor battery i believe it has amazing battery. I'm a heavy user like video, games, internet and music all day and still have 30% or so at the end of the day and on medium days i have gone 48hours without charging.
I used to get something like 12-14 hours when using stock, but after a day i had to root and remove bloat. The key to poor battery is bloat once you remove that you phone will last a while. Still using stock but with bloat removed.

Personally, I don't like where HTC is going with their phones. We now know AT&T is not the only company they send these things out locked for. The Skyrocket is 2 ounces lighter than the Vivid. However, the Vivid may offer some protection against say a .22 caliber bullet and the backing plate may deflect a .30 cal. slow moving slug. The Vivid also could be registered as a lethal weapon, where as the Skyrocket is more in the non-lethal category.

I gotta ask, I had the Vivid, but exchanged for the SR to boycott the HTC boot loader thing.
How is the battery life? Stock vivid was atrocious compared to the SR, but I don't know why.

Cant say the battery life is any better either way other than the wcx rom. Not enough action on Vivid unlike the Skyrocket. If the Galaxy s 2 had LTE it would be better than the Vivid so I think the Skyrocket is better most definitely faster. I owned all 3 just giving my opinion.
I love my Vivid. I prefer Sense to Touchwiz and the camera is great. Battery has been lasting me all day with 60-70% left when I go home. That's with several e-mail accounts on push and everything else on, data-pulling widgets, etc.
Literally, my only complaint about this phone is the weight, but I'm not a wuss, so I deal with it. The Vivid is a solid phone and very reliable.

Let's do it, we only need about a grand for phones, and 2 bullets.
Ahh, yeah, AMOLED likes to sip power at lower brightness, and the black/no light on LED helps I guess.
How's the actual performance now on the Vivid? I guess I didn't like Sense..
it's not a bad phone, I have used worse...as you can see there is not a lot of support for it in the forums, when you compare it to other phones. ROMs are slow to come out and update as well. I'm afraid this will be another ATT flop. Thats just my opinion. I have the Vivid and the Skyrocket. I really like the Vivid just wish there was more support for it on xda. Most of the time I find myself using the Samsung Sky Rocket Galaxy s 2.
so far I enjoy my vivid very much especially it's LTE capability. With a wild child's sense 3.5 rom, the performance got even better.
After having the Vivid for about a week now, I'm thinking about trying out the Skyrocket...
The screen on the Vivid is really nice and I like the more natural colors of the screen vs. Samsung screens. But I am not really liking how narrow the screen is, feels cramped sometimes. Also I'm finding it difficult to use in bright sunlight, gotta squint to see it.
While I like the look of Sense, prefer it over TW, I'm finding it to be a little quirky. Don't care much for some of the stock apps like email, calendar, etc. The led indicator seems a little random too, sometimes I get the notification, sometimes I don't.
Battery life has been ok, a little better than average. LTE performance has been awesome in my area too, no complaints. The main thing is the screen for me I guess... I know the Skyrocket isn't perfect either, but I think I might do an exchange and give it a try. :/

Having just retired my Vivid for a Skyrocket, I can tell you that it's a good choice. All of the little bugs and issues I had with my Vivid are absent in the Skyrocket: Duplicate text messages, youtube upload issues, Picasa upload issues, laggy keyboard, etc. I didn't even realize how much the keyboard lagged until I used the Skyrocket. I just knew it wasn't quite right.
All in all, I'm very happy with the switch. I just wish I had taken the Vivid back before my 30 days were up. Now I'm stuck with two phones. What's sad is, I really love Sense and it has a lot of great optimizations that Touchwiz is still missing. But the weight of the device made it unwieldy in my hand and the duplicate text messages were driving me nuts.

For those of you who have purchased the Vivid, any regrets? Why?
None so far for me. I switched from an Inspire and it is a nice improvement in all areas except for development, for now at least.
The screen and improved camera were enough to make it an easy decision for me to switch.
I exchanged from the SGS2 to the Vivid. Wasn't sure which LTE device I wanted. I went with the qHD display because I liked it more so than the SA+. The one thing I regret at the moment is the lack of development so far. The Skyrocket being so close to T-Mobile's version is off to a great start in that department. I had an Atrix before, so I'm used to waiting anyway. With other carriers releasing HTC devices with 1.5ghz makes me feel like there will be a new HTC LTE device being rolled out shortly.

I broke the screen on my Dell Streak back in March.
Heard about the HTC Holiday 2 days later.
Waited months for it to come to the US... all the while using a phone with a broken screen.
Became upgrade eligible in August...
I finally gave up waiting and bought the SGSII...
12 hours later (no, i'm not joking.) AT&T announced the Vivid(Holiday)...
I kept the SGSII for a week, seeing if it's annoying over-saturation and ultra light weight would grow on me...
Bought the Vivid on Launch Day.

It appears our phone has the 1.5 in it as well, just underclocked to save battery life.

HTC has done that before, underclock to save battery.
Nothing so far, everything work as expected, Wifi, GPS, call quality is great. I like the weight on the thing, don't really like litght phones, it's just me.

i switched from the iphone 4 and im kinda wanting to go back to it, but i think its just that im not use to android and im gonna give it time. the phone though i like a lot, its the browser and mail apps that bug me.

This year I've had iPhone 4, inspire, galaxy SII and now the vivid.Every phone has its issues just be patient when they get a perm root and devs get on it , its going to be amazing.

None, somehow the Vivid feels more complete for me as a phone, maybe i am one of those few who love sense. i dont really care much of development, to me the phone works
Switch from crappy since launch day,love the sense. Always wanted a HTC,and it's as good as expected.
As for development,it's only out for a week. HTC is known to be the fastest mgf to release update,no worry. Not to mention HTC already already announce we will have ICS January.

Yeah I have to say I love this phone! Came from an atrixand wow, what an improvement. I know we get lower benchmarks but honestly its way better IMO, fast UI and smoother... Can't wait for Roms oh baby

The phone's great for me so far. The only regret I have is the audio quality recorded from the camcorder, it's bad... I thought I'd be able to make it sound better by turning stereo recording off like I did on my Sensation, but unfortunately I was wrong. Hopefully this will be fixed in the future by HTC or developers. :l

My only complaint is the less than stellar battery life, but everything else is good, and my battery life seems to be getting better now that it's gone through a few charge cycles & I'm starting to return to using it as a normal phone and not a new gadget! I don't seem to have any of the connectivity problem others complain about, but I'm pretty sure at this point that's a network thing, because the Skyrocket experiences the same issues sometimes. The screen is nice and bright as far as I'm concerned (dare I say it's rather vivid?), and I like the qHD resolution. I think the speaker's plenty loud enough & call quality's pretty good. And overall I'm just a fan of HTC's Sense over Samsung's TouchWiz. Now if only we could manage to unlock the bootloader!

Haha, glad I could save your fingers some effort!
Coming from a Tilt 2, this phone is amazing! No more worrying about running out of memory. No more watching the battery guage go from 100% to 70% just by sitting on my nightstand overnight! No more typing and watching the letters show up on the screen 5 seconds later! Also, I love the qHD screen.
For my first Android phone, I think I made a wise choice!
I have no regrets about the phone, but getting angrier by the day about the bootloader. Seems absurd that htcdev doesn't have the unlock tool on day 1, let alone day 10, especially since its brother models are up there. Grumble, grumble...
I went to the Vivid from my trusty Inspire. The Vivid doesn't seem to be as sturdy as the Inspire, but still a nice phone. The 1.2 GHz dual core proc keeps everything running slick and smooth, but all that power sure generates some heat! This thing gets super hot when I run GPS, Bluetooth Audio, and other stuff at the same time. As soon as this thing gets an AOSP rom... it will be great!

I regret getting this phone, but I couldn't tell you a better option it's so hard to tell with phones without living with one for a week beforehand, and I don't have that luxury. I am displeased with some things within this phone to the point where I would move if I was given the option. I look at other phones and really I couldn't tell if I would actually like them once I had them.
If I could get an android from Telstra with a full slide out keyboard, that wasn't a low/mid range 450Mhtz snooze fest, I would jump ship so very quickly, I'm a fan of physical keyboards. Next time around though I think my main guiding factor will be stock android (ie a Nexus of some variety, or a phone that gets stock android asap)
Pro's
1. Camera is pretty nice, microphone is rubbish for vid, but the picture quality is very nice
2. Battery is pretty good under ICS, no android has awesome battery, but this I am finding pleasantly surprising.
3. Lots of internal space for apps and media
4. microSD card slot.
5. LTE, in Australia this is the only LTE handset currently available.
6. MHL compatibility is pretty nice with video output to HDMI via the adaptor.
7. Cheap accessories from ebay, covers and stuff are common, they are however unheard-of in shops in Australia, cant even get a screen protector or a cover from Telstra themselves, and they offer no solution beyond ebay

1. This is the first "sense" android I have used long term, and I gave it a good run but I hate sense so very much, and the ICS update to sense 3.6 made sense worse for me, sure its lighter and faster now, but features I want are now gone. I came from mostly using GB MIUI on a HTC HD2 to this phone with sense, and sense is just so far behind MIUI it's not even funny, sense feels like winmo 6.5, I was so disappointed.
2. Due to many reasons, not necessarily the handsets fault, the development options and ROM selection is quite limited, I came from a HTC HD2, which could run anything under the sun, and had developers coming out of the wazoo, even supported dual-booting and running ROM's from the SD card, including full desktop operating systems, I miss that hack-ability of the HD2.
3. The back cover falls off all the damn time, I can't get the damn thing to stick. Even if under another cover, it slides up and interferes with the speaker and the flash/lens of the camera, all of a sudden my photos are darker and I'll be like, wait not again, YES THE DAMNED BACK COVER AGAIN! This is a retarded design.
4. HTC's version of exchange email support is rubbish, the stock android app is miles ahead of it, I don't know why they feel they need to rewrite it because they replace awesome with mediocre.
5. USB mounting of the drives are hit and miss, sometimes both volumes don't mount, or none mount, other times they are good for 50 disconnection/reconnection in a row.
6. on the stock OTA update for ICS, issues with the screen remaining dull/not adjusting properly and all of the missing options that GB had are driving me nuts.
7. if I roll back to GB and attach my phone to exchange using the same account, I can install APK's still, under ICS with the same account, the security option is hidden from me... I can no longer install APK's under ICS.
8. whilst streaming music to my A2DP car adapter, I cannot find any way to get the email notifications to NOT interfere with the music, even if I remove all notifications it still makes the music "skip" slightly when an email comes in... this is frustrating, thought I feel it is an ICS issue as this wasn't a problem with GB.
Just my experience, if someone offered to swap a galaxy nexus I'd probably jump at the opportunity, and I'm kicking myself that I didn't take it (it was an option available at the time I needed a new phone).

At this current point in time.. the Vivid is ok. there's not much too it. there aren't even many themes that work properly with it. the skyrocket (samsung touchwiz in general) gets a bit stale. if you use your phone a lot (data and sms) stay with the skyrocket because your battery will last much longer. on heavy usage i get about from 7am to 11 am

Yikes, that's really bad. I do use my phone a lot so battery life is huge for me. How are you feeling about ICS on your phone? Does it feel different at all or was it all just hype?
I went to the att store at least 5 times to male sure j wanted the vivid over the skyrocket. Overall i think i made the right choice with the vivid. Battery life is bad but i bought a 3600mah battery on amazon for 10 dollars and i get at least 20 hours with very heavy usage. Plus i couldn't stand the low Res on the skyrocket display

I also had an Inspire before my Vivid, and other HTC's before that. i've always been a big fan, and loved my Inspire right up til the day I broke it. I like my Vivid 10 times better than that. I get a solid 10 hours on normal usage as far as battery. With the custom ROMs that are available, and the Mods that have recently been released, and the official release of ICS...hopefully development will pick up even more and we catch the interest of some themers and such too..
Edit: F me for not proofreading..that "solid 10 hours on normal usage" should have read "solid 20 hours on normal usage". To only get 10 hours it would have to be pretty much constant screen on. I literally watched my battery die the other day to try and work out another issue, so the screen was on most of the day, and it still took til right before I went to bed for it to die.
well i had a infuse 4g and went to the vivid after my infuse stopped functioning right i would have to say i am glad it broke love my vivid

it's a full hour of heavy LTE data usage
i dont know what yall guys are talking about my vivid battery last at least 10 12 hrs with heavy usage during the day and im in a lte area...my phone is always on lte and i dont see any differance between my vivid and my buddies skyrocket as far as battery...
and besides imo touch wiz sucks i have the so called battery hog sence and like i said my battery last just as long as his...we even have races to see whos battery will run out first and its all ways about the same time

besides they feel really cheap..i almost feel like im going to crush the skyrocket in my hand cuz its so light and weak feeling

they might not...but you can look up on youtube the vivid running ics ...
I kind of wish people would stop bashing the battery on the Vivid. It's pretty damn good. When I plug in my phone at night, its usually at more than 50% battery and is reporting more than 16 hours of use. I've experienced better battery on the Vivid than I did on the GS2.

I have to agree on the battery. If you are using it, regardless of which phone it is, the battery will drain. However the battery on my vivid does not die like the captivate would. I work two jobs and can comfortably go to both knowing my phone will not be in the red when I get off work. It always lasts. I had to bring my charger for the captivate wherever I went. The vivid is amazing!
I'm shocked at the bad battery reports.
I'm actually getting amazing battery life.
Play games rather often, have gps and wifi and mobile data always turned on. Usually browsing the net, xda, facebook, a bit of texting and a few phone calls, sooo many widgets and a livewallpaper, max brightness, and I get at least 12 hours out of my phone, usually more.
And on days I don't use it much... well I've been charging it every other day this week.
I would say that the battery is pretty good. If I can keep from turning on the display I can probably get 15-20hrs. The display really sucks the watts. While you can turn it down (I have it set on automatic) and that help out a lot. Unfortunately, if I just set it for say 20% brightness, I can barely see it indoors and forget outdoors. So automatic works best for me. I have push email and everything else updates at least once an hour.
how do you guys feel about the processor/ram? Do you have trouble playing the latest games or applications? although I'm not a huge gamer, I prefer to be at least moderately updated with the latest hardware.
another question: as was suggested earlier I started looking up some videos. I didn't see any videos showing off the really awesome multi-task functionality that's in ICS. Does it still work the same way on the vivid?
I'm running WC's ICS rom, his kernel is clocked to 1.5 instead of the stock underclock of 1.2. I have experienced absolutely ZERO lag on my Vivid, and I've played several games without issue, emulators also aren't laggy and super buggy on it either.
And the multi tasking is pretty intuitive and nice, you can long press on "home" and it'll pop up the apps you've used most recently in the state they were in when you left unless you fully quit that app or game.
Battery isn't going be great on any of the current LTE phones.

again with the bashing of the battery... the battery is great
my battery last longer than my old inspire and infuse so it has nothing to do with lte. all though lte does use the battery more but not like your implying
Ive owned 4 HTC's and the vivid is the best of the bunch so far.I can't imagine a day without it or a day using any other phone again for a long while!This phone is simply amazing!As for the battery i think its pretty awesome.Check out this post where i posted my battery report after 24 hours of use.Yea thats right 24 hours and then some on one charge!

+1 for battery life, especially if you check the automatic brightness.
I wouldn't stay with the skyrocket, especially with all the new devices coming out now (highres screens, ics, build quality, etc). I'm glad I choose the vivid and I always recommend it over skyrocket hands down.

Long story short, att messed up and ended up crediting me the price of my upgrade ($220) and pushing up my upgrade to eligible.
Ive had my eye on the one since it first was rumored but haven't heard much from people who actually have it.
Soo.... How is it? Should i use my newly obtained upgrade for this or should i wait it out some..

Excellent, I've not regretted choosing it - it's all I wanted.
I've upgraded from a Sammy S2. My primary phone usage is actually as a media player... A bit of on demand telly, but mostly listening to mp3s at work, and podcasts when I'm having a soak in the bath or lazing around at home.
The stereo speakers make such a difference, as does the Beats processing. It's a world away from the tinny output of the Samsung (which was in most other aspects an excellent phone, especially when I had Cyanogen on it to freshen it up)
Build quality is excellent, it really does feel great. Still not quite as impressive as an iPhone 4 though, but the best of the rest.
The screen is pin sharp. I'd like the automatic brightness to be biased a little brighter though (or customisable)
The Ui is truly butter smooth (Xperia z I tried in the shop was a lag-fest and very disappointing in comparison)
Blink feed is actually pretty good. I've always used Taptu for my news feed. Blink is allegedly going to be improved in the future.. It won't take much improvement to supplant Taptu entirely.
I've barely scratched the surface of Zoe, but it's impressed me so far. I've not even tried the Highlight options yet.
The camera seems to take good pictures, especially in low light... The flash hasn't kicked in for me yet!
Sense 5 is well designed, it looks good. I like the way the app drawer contents can be viewed in multiple ways and a custom view set up.
The phone must be powerful - it seems to play Real Racing 3 as well as my iPad - very impressive!
Battery life has seemed good, it doesn't eat battery on standby, but does during heavy use.. Which is understandable. I don't think I have enough experience to really say if it's good or bad compared to other phones, but its not died unexpectedly on me.
The phone seems stable... No crashes or lockups... Pretty good for such a new phone?
My gripes?
The phone got very, very hot when using Navigation whilst charging, with satellite image layer turned on.
I miss the menu button. and the Sammys physically clickable home button.. a bit.
I'd like the back and home buttons to be permanently lit, they don't show in bright or medium lighting.
I summary, yes I'd definitely buy this again if I had the choice
This is my third Android phone, previously owned Desire HD, One X (Tegra 3 - international version).
Only had One for two weeks, but so far really happy with it, no problems with build quality or functions.
Would go as far as to say it's the best phone I've owned.

i love my htc one. I picked it up a week ago. I've had iphones for the passed 4 years and didnt fancy the 5.
I went in to pick up an xperia z, but changed my mind for the one.
Ive used it more or less constantly since I got it, it has not crashed once, its fantastic.
I wasnt sure after ios for so long Id get on with it, but I love it. Il list why,
The speakers are fantastic, it really sounds great. The music player is impressive
The camera takes nice looking photos, the colours seem perfect. Theres alot to the camera I havent played with yet.
Everything is lag free, not just lag free, but impressively fast.
Blinkfeed is quite nice, although when I grab my phone to do something I end end up reading interesting news instead
I like android a lot more than I though I would.
Its an amazing phone. Hard to put it down. I looked through all the available phones, to me it was the winner, it is beautiful
The screen is just awesome.
Battery life has been good, it lasts as long as youd expect it to.
Sorry if i sound like a htc one sales man. its a lovely phone. Get one

Best phone i've ever had.
One massive thing i've noticed with the camera is that you don't have to stay super still for shots. The shutter is so fast i think it's the first phone i've ever come across with a LED flash that actually competes with cameras that have a xenon flash.
I went out last night and each picture i took in a low lit pub was superb, genuinely amazed at the camera and its quickness.
The Boomsound is awesome, the phone is so fast, the camera is great and the screen is A class. Literally the best phone i've ever had and the best purchase i've made in a long time.
I am soooo chuffed i got this and not the Z ( just for its waterproof feature ) which id probably never use.
I think the only thing that worries me is the battery life, is it atleast in the 8hr range with moderate to heavy use?

Hmmm, tricky to say - I've not spent more than an hour in one go where I've used the phone heavily (constantly browsing / watching video / downloading apps etc), but haven't been within reach of a charger and a power point. My Sammy S2 often ate battery even when in standby so I bought extra chargers and distributed them around the house
However... my experience of checking the battery usage graph when it's unplugged is that
1) the line is nicely horizontal when in standby
2) the line doesn't resemble a cliff when the screen is on and I'm doing something.
If you want some rather more scientific results, best check the reviews... I recommend the Anandtech review here. It's a great piece of tech writing

I've barely scratched the surface of Zoe, but it's impressed me so far. I've not even tried the Highlight options yet.
The camera seems to take good pictures, especially in low light... The flash hasn't kicked in for me yet!
Sense 5 is well designed, it looks good. I like the way the app drawer contents can be viewed in multiple ways and a custom view set up.
The phone must be powerful - it seems to play Real Racing 3 as well as my iPad - very impressive!
Battery life has seemed good, it doesn't eat battery on standby, but does during heavy use.. Which is understandable. I don't think I have enough experience to really say if it's good or bad compared to other phones, but its not died unexpectedly on me.
The phone seems stable... No crashes or lockups... Pretty good for such a new phone?
My gripes?
The phone got very, very hot when using Navigation whilst charging, with satellite image layer turned on.
I miss the menu button. and the Sammys physically clickable home button.. a bit.
I'd like the back and home buttons to be permanently lit, they don't show in bright or medium lighting.
I summary, yes I'd definitely buy this again if I had the choice

Can't really fault it too be honest, still in a love/hate relationship with blinkfeed but other than that it's not skipped a bit, zero lag and everything is super smooth no matter what you throw at it.
Minor gripe is that htc really do need to put back in the option for long press back for menu.

I was actually going to buy an Xperia Z as the idea of a waterproof phone really appealed to me (listening to podcasts in the bath). But I was sorely disappointed when I tried the Z in a couple of shops the scrolling between home screens noticeably hiccuped. Now, sure, I don't know what the rest of the phone is like, but that was enough to put me off straight away. After all if the software isn't smooth on something like that, hopes aren't going to be high about the rest of the phone. The One is smooth everywhere.
I suspect the only person telling themselves anything to keep themselves happy with their purchase is you, but it's no skin off my nose...
Edit: in retrospect 'lag-fest' in my previous post was a poor choice of words - an exaggeration. But it did, to some extent, reflect my initial impression of the phone. Perhaps, to nick the tag line of a fast food outlet,"where's the butter?" would do the trick.
Are there differences between the variants? Like will there be att, sprint, tmobile, and international development or is it all gonna be together?

There will be variants for different radio types (CDMA vs GSM) and LTE bands. The dev edition is aimed at ATT, and I don't think will fully support T-Mobile (I don't remember seeing 1700 in the specs). Best to check compatibility before buying.

I've been wanting to get a new phone to replace my s3 but was looking between the note 2 and the HTC one and would like to ask the owners they're opinion. What are the pros and cons you have found, what are your favorite parts of the phone, battery life, responsiveness and speed etc...

I've come from having the hero, the HTC evo shift and the evo design. This phone is a million times better. I haven't noticed any lag. Sense is very smooth and fast. Battery life is impressive. I thought my evo design was cool, but this phone is amazing. I've been waiting and hearing about a phone like this since I first got my HTC hero. I wouldn't go by what I have to say though. I would read reviews, watch videos and even go to a store to try it out. You can even buy it and try it out for a little while as long as you take care of it, then if you didn't like it take it back.
Here is my phone history as of the last 2-3 years.
HTC EVO - EVO 3D- S2- Evo LTE - S3 - One
I've gone back and forth on HTC and Samsung.
I like the upgrade from S3 to the One.
However, if you are deciding between the Note II and the One that's really an apple to oranges comparison.
They serve different functions.
Battery: The battery of the One is better than the S3. And if you didn't have problems making it a day with the S3 then you wont have a problem with the One.
HDD Space: The One comes with about 25gb of usable storage. If this this good enough for you then I don't a problem.

Had a Captivate Glide and a Note II and I just traded my Note for the HTC One. Couldn't have been happier with my decision. I will miss some of the minor stuff that TouchWiz had like the ability to scroll left to right instead of up and down in the app drawer and being able to group stuff into folders but that's nothing that a launcher or custom rom cant fix. Stereo speakers and a 468ppi 1080p screen makes watching videos at least 4-5x better for me then it was on my Note II.
The HTC One is such an amazing phone. I was damn impressed when I was playing around with the phone when I first got it and it was installing like 50 applications in the background, one after another without slowing the phone down at allllllll.... I didn't even know it was installing them until I saw the notifications pop up in the top bar. The camera is amazing and pulls in phenomenal sound quality. HDR mode works like a charm. Very solid build with the all metal body. The screen actually does a great job repelling fingerprints. If you do decide to wipe it once in a while, one wipe across your shirt should leave it flawless again. The phone does feel like it gets hot sometimes but it's a metal phone so it will absorb more heat than plastic does. On the plus side, it also acts like a heat-sync for the phone keeping the inside cooler.
There's already a root available for it and a couple different ROMs. The entire process is actually very simple to do as well. I did it for the first time ever and found it too easy to be considered a project lol.
You won't be let down by the HTC One if you decide to get it.

I have been trying to decide between the HTC One and the Galaxy S4 for quite some time now that I am actually getting tired from all the research and reading. My first Android device was the HTC One X, and to be honest I was thoroughly disappointed with it. The battery life was utter crap, Sense UI was incredibly laggy, I received absolutely no software updates (OTA) because I am in the Middle East and we usually get the updates 3 - 4 months after everyone else, the device was white and it started losing its color rather quickly and it garnered a lot of dings even though I am a careful user. I then moved to the Galaxy S3 and am pretty satisfied with it even though it isn't without its problems (which are also making me fear buying the S4), therefore I have a couple of questions regarding the HTC One:
1) How's the battery life? My usage is usually browsing, using whatsapp, installing new applications from the PlayStore to try them, listening to music from time to time and usually using Mobile Network (HSDPA or w.e it's called) instead of Wi-Fi, which I eats a lot of battery.
2) How's the material? Is it a bit weak like the HTC One X's or is the aluminum strong? If I get the HTC One I'll be getting the silver color.
3) Are there any heat issues? I remember the One X got really hot (but not unbearable) rather quickly and the material didn't help, either. Cases did, though.
4) Has the Sense UI improved in terms of laggyness when swiping and such from the One X's?
5) What is the latest firmware available for the HTC_J15 CID at the moment? That was my One X's CID and I am assuming it's because I am in Egypt, therefore the HTC One is supposedly going to be the same.
6) How's the camera in low-light conditions and the flash?

1) Excellent. I'm a heavy user, play ton of games, browse the internet with LTE (which uses more power than HSPA+) and it gets me through the day with at least 30% to spare.
2) Build quality is excellent.
3) It does get warm if you play graphically heavy games. other than that, I can't say it really got hot or anything.
4) Theres no lag on this phone at all. None. It's butter smooth, which you can't say the same thing about the s4 which lags like crazy.
5) No idea, sorry.
6) Low light is amazing. The whole benefit of the ultrapixel camera is for low light.
Thank you so much for your helpful and informative replies, they have definitely reassured me about the HTC One. I am not one to fully trust reviews from known people on YouTube or writers on Gizmodo and such because the biases are very clear, that's why even though this is a section dedicated to the HTC One I do not see a reason why someone would lie about their experience with the One in order to persuade others to buy it, what would they benefit anyway?

Yeah this phone is amazing. The phone does get rather warm when playing games or video chatting. But everything is butter smooth. 0 lag. At all. I still don't believe it. And the camera really excels at low light. At normal or bright levels its just good. Nothing super awesome, but good. And the build quality is top notch. Never seen a nicer looking phone or felt one that feels better in my hands. Hope this helps! I would definitely buy this phone again

2- aluminum phones get hot. this is not an issue its designed like that. aluminum transfers the heat from the internals which prolongs the life of the phone. this is why car engines are made of aluminum and more importantly heat sinks on cicuit boards are aluminum
I agree with you. Plus, just about any device I played games on or browsed for a long time got warm, so that's understandable, however the Galaxy S3 gets REALLY hot (50+) when doing normal tasks for a long time, and of course the heat results in the battery getting depleted, and unfortunately Samsung seemingly did not do much about that with the S4 since my friends are experiencing the same issues with it. I have decided I am going to get a silver 32GB HTC One; the only Developer Edition ones I found in Egypt did not have warranty, but since I am dishing out so much money (over 800 USD), I might as well go for warranty as well as an anti-impact screen protector.
Battery life is pretty good. About 4 half to 5hrs screen time. No lag on sense 5.
Camera is nice. Dont get the s4.i had it for a week and lag soo much.dont get me wrong the s4 is nice but lags kills the phone so i sold it bought htc one,plus speakers are awesome

Most of these questions could be answered through all your research. haha Sounds like you came here for that last bit of reassurance, but you already made the decision. Battery life is the big one. The regular Sense doesn't do as much as the S4, but therefore it has good battery life. S4 does all this stuff.....but it's all useless stuff and kills the battery.
It's a pretty phone...but you'll end up with a case anyway.
And you already knew about the camera. But for the same reason it's good in low light, it's not as good for regular photos.

1. Battery life pretty good. A lot (!!) better that my old One X. You can get 4-5 hrs of screen time and doing battery sucking activities along and pretty much all the time: Photos, zoes, editing,downloading, browsing intensively, etc
2. Its hard as metal Really, it does feel harder and sturdier than the One X.
3. Well, it heats up I tell you that. I mean, my "One" gets to about 37+ after I browse or snap pics and zoes for more than 5-7 minutes. It gets even hotter, at 40+, if you keep using it, but the good part is that it cools down really fast. Take a 4-5 minute brake and its back to 30 or so
Like other ppl have said, its not a flaw... Aluminum conducts heat and that is a good thing for the phone. And that brings us to the UI and lag..
4. No. No lag. No stutter. Nothing! Butter-free is the right term. Moreover, not only is it lag-free, but its super fast in terms of opening aps and dealing with commands.

No way! That would be awesome when 4.2.2 is officially out since the Middle East receives updates months later than the West. How would you go about doing so mate?

You can do S-OFF following this method by revolutionnary team found here Or Moonshine method found here you'll find the command to change the CID, you can set the CID that receives the updates firstly, to get updates with official OTA, or just root and install custom rom based on latest firmware leaks
That's awesome, man. If I am not mistaken, that was not possible with the HTC One X, or at least not when I had it - I really struggled with not receiving OTA updates when everyone else was receiving them, which is why I always went the custom route although I prefer the stock one. Would you happen to know a website like SamMobile (for Samsung) that always informs of the latest firmwares available for the device? I am using ARHD and therefore I cannot use the "Software Update" feature in the device.
