Will TI Backups work if TI is reinstalled? - LG Optimus 2x

Hey everyone,
I have made a Titanium Backup of all my files. Let's say I install a new ROM, and lose all my data. If I reinstall TI from the Market and load my backup files from my computer back into the 'backup' folder of TI will it recognize and restore all my files back properly? Sounds stupid but I havn't been able to find an answer.
Thank you all in advance.

It works perfectly good....In the free version...you will need to do it one by one....dont forget to select the correct backup folder location from settings in TB....
for the paid version...you can do a batch restore.EASY

Yes it does

Restore Applications

im going to change the rom on my 8125, and all my apps are installed to my SD Card. If i put my SD card back in the phone after i install the new Rom, will my applications still be there or will the shortcuts be gone?
shortcuts and programs
if you did not make a backup, your programs will not run .
i mean by this that everything you installed on your device will not run.
when a back up made by using sprite back up or spb back up these programs can be restored
ok i got SPB Backup, i installed it, do i just backup my entire device? or do i have to manually go through the windows folder and stuff and select what to backup? if i backup the entire contents, then install a different ROM, and then restore the backup, wouldnt that fook everything up?

Sprite Backup is the only application that can restore everything after a ROM upgrade, you need to run an Upgrade Util on the old ROM first to capture the .sbu file which is required to restore to the new ROM
what app can i use to get the SBU file?
i have SPB Backup installed, do i just do the entire backup? wouldnt the registries affect the new rom when i restore?
warning: SPB backup can only restore to the exact ROM version you are using now. it won't restore to other ROMs...

Can you tell me where is the upgrade util? I always re-install everything, which also scares me not to make many ROM upgrades.
thanks

[Q] trouble with titanium backup

I just flashed the new overcome ROM 2.0.0 RC1 Gingerbread and before doing so I backup-ed the apps that I wanted saved now I can't figure for the life of me how to get them back they didn't save in an individual folder I have a series of files that end with apk.gz tar.gz and .properties. There are 3 of these for each app, for instance lets say angry birds with have a file that ends in apk.gz then another with tar.gz and one more with .properties. Can someone please help me figure out how to restore these apps? Also when I got to batch everything says 0 under the restore section, so basically I can't figure out how to get titanium backup to read these files to restore them.

Sorry your procedure only set the location of Titanium backup folder. I want to know that how to restore *.apk.gz and *.tar.gz of same app.
I did it with *.tibkp by going menu > Import Backup (TiBkp)
this is simple to restore *.tibkp but I want to restore *.apk.gz and *.tar.gz of same app.
I m using Titanium Backup Pro v6.1.0
and I also want to know to make backup in *.tibkp format because titanium backup giving me three option for compression (LZO, GZIP, BIP2)
there is NO option to compress backup in *.tibkp format.
kindly help me as soon as possible

[Q] Working method for restoring Call logs/SMS to ICS?

I know there are a lot of apps for back up/restoring, but does anyone know any working for ICS? I have tried AppExtractor with ROM Manager, didn't work. The Message-app started to behave strange. Tried SMS Backup & Restore, was able to restore the sms but couldn't not open them.
I'm currently using NovaHD's ICS Rom.
You can restore your messages from /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db and mmssms.db-journal in your nandroid backup (just extract and replace)
And your calls from /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/database/contacts2.db and contacts2.db-journal
(Extract and replace)
Nandroid = CWM?
So, basically your saying that i should extract my backup and the rom, then find these folders extract the backup one to the rom and then zip it again?
Two options
#1 Restore your backup, copy the files to a temp folder on sdcard, flash your new rom and replace them
#2 Extract them from your backup and then replace them
It might be other solutions aswell but these are simple
Nandroid = CWM

just a small mention....file types from CM7 or Cm 9 are not the same with other GB formats....so are not comaptible....be careful with that.

Sreeprajay, i'm goding from stock rom to custom, should work right?!

Nope, just root and and root explorer (or similar)
You dont even need a computer
Or use nandroid browser from the market : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.goddchen.android.nandroidbrowser

from the stock to custom, it will be prefect...just make sure once you are rooted, backup your msgs and call logs by either apps or by backing the ROM totally....
Hope it helps
So, i installed root explorer, copied mmssms.db(no journal-file), flashed owain's rom, installed root explorer, replaced my mmssms.db file in the rom, rebooted and the SMS-client won't start.
Optimus, maybe this will help you:
This is "backup to gmail"
I have got this aplication (paid) but it`s works on ICS (owain 29)
Take a look on my screenshot.
sms backup & restore works perfectly for me, but no idea on that phone call log
Albatros2605, MoFosis, Thanks for your help guys, but managed to restore my SMS by using SMS Backup+, which copies everything to your gmail and then downloads it to restore the SMS.
Hi guys, I recently screwed the pooch on an upgrade to 4.0.4, and I forgot to backup SMS before doing it. I did a nandroid backup, but I can neither restore the backup nor locate the mmssms.db file in the archive. I tried AppExtractor and Titanium Backup, but with no success.
Can someone help me by telling me where to locate my SMS history in a nandroid backup? Thanks!

How do I restore apps from a different device?

Trying to restore titanium backup of downloaded apps and settings from another device. Apps restore properly but none of the settings do (game scores, etc.)
I have never had a problem restoring to other devices. Is there anything I have to do to fix this?
Dmore rom, semaphore kernel
Had the same problem at one point, tried fixing it but didn't know what to do and nothing seemed to make any difference. And then suddenly one day it was working again.
The only difference i can think of is I updated titanium backup. try that.
If that doesn't work try uninstalling it and reinstalling it (copy the titanium backup folder on your sd card onto your computer just in case it gets deleted, don't think it should.)
Other than that google the problem (Titanium backup wont restore apps - google search), there are ton of similar situations, there's probably an answer out there already that'll work for you

I'm on version 5 so that should be fine. and thanks for the link, although I did not find why data is not being restored.
Strange thing is that data from ONE app was restored but not others. After seeing that I remade the backup but the same thing happened. I wonder if its where the i9000 stores the data of backups is the issue
No other ideas? No one has had this happen?
I've been looking for a solution for two nights, this hasn't happened to anyone?

Go into options of titanium and make sure you have backup external data to always. I run a restore this morning because I was switching ROMs and everything worked fine.

In advanced, there is something to do with sym link. Check that. Try again. Some roms use that.

Restore manually. When you go to the folder with all the backups, there should be a bunch of .tar and other files. Just install the apks on the other phone and manually restore the data in the .tars

I see the tars, and in each tar there is a data folder, another data folder inside, and then the .com folders. what do i restore and where do I put it?
for example, in the AKnotepad .com folder there are these folders:
app_sslcache
databases
shared_prefs
some apps also have a files folder inside the .com
I can just place them using ES file browser with root browsing method on the phone, just am not sure where.
When O had a look into my backups, that had data folders in them. Go on your old phone and see where the files in data folders go. Most go to /data/data. I recommend Root Explorer.

[Q] Using old rom ADB file on new rom?

Hi Guys!
I've just flashed my HTC One to the ViperOne ROM. And since i backed up all my apps beforehand with ADB i was wondering if i could use the backup file that i have on my PC taken with the stock ROM, on my new rom?
Cheers!
What do you mean by 'backed up using adb'? Did you copy files from your phone to your computer?

Thanks for the fast reply!
I've followed this vid through the root process where it was suggested to do a backup as seen here: http://youtu.be/qpj6dEMn9dw?t=2m45s
So i basically used ADB to backup apps settings etc and it saved a file on my comp. And i was wondering if i could use that even if made on a different ROM.
I'm out and on my phone, don't really want to watch a video to find out what command you ran. I assume it was a whole system backup like a nandroid.
Because you've now installed a different ROM, you only want to restore certain parts of your backup ie. You just want your user apps and data restored. If you restored your whole backup, you'd wipe Viper ROM and be back where you started.
Have a look at TitaniumBackup and Helium which will allow you to just backup and restore apps. I use Titanium and it has options to extract from a nandroid or adb backup.
I ran it and it seems to have worked. Still on the Viper rom atleast!
But thanks for the help!
Just read up about adb backup. Thanks, learnt something new today.
You should look at Titanium as it will give you finer grain control over restoring.
