Hi guys, I just purchased a new Galaxy note and got an update from samsung to 2.3.6 works ok.
The only issue I have right now is when I change the dock icons, or create a folder under the applications screen the galaxy resets itself to the "default" application screen and leaving me only 3 icons in the dock, when it can hold up to five.
It undos everything related to folders, icon movement, ect done on the applications screen and the dock... Which is quite annoying.
I checked with a friend who also has a galaxy note but running 2.3.5 and she has the same problem.
Any thing you recommend?, the note is not rooted.
Thanks!
Hi..did you save after making the changes? By pressing the menu...

I just applied the hack to change backgrounds in tabs other than the home screen and my tab bar disappeared. I can still scroll through the tabs using gestures, but it's rather annoying. I tried switching to the original manila files, but it didn't bring it back. I don't wanna do a hard reset, I have my phone set up just right now... (well, apart from the tab bar being missing)...
Help?

When you've applied the hack did you turn of TF3D before applying the hack?
I did. I didn't do a soft reboot, though. Was that required? I read some people did that too.
After a few hours of experimenting, I went into TF3D config, appearance tab and hit Restore Default. This fixed it. I'll just wait for the proper way of changing the tab background.
Admin lock, please?
So I just got CM7 running on my SD card and was loading Netflix when I noticed that the icon with 4 boxed that lets u view your apps that is located in the small 3 icon tool bar thing at the bottom of the screen is gone. Is there another way to get to my apps or some way to get back the icon.
You might try hitting menu on the home screenm-->settings-->ADWLauncher-->Reset ADW
Just a shot in the dark here, but I'm guessing that will fix it.
Also in the menu you can go to general behavior-->Swipe up action and swipe down action, which will allow you to set what happens when you swipe up or down on the homescreen. Personally, I don't even use the 3 little icons, I just have swiping down display the app drawer.

On the Home screen, tap and hold on the empty space to bring up "Add to Home screen" window, then tap the "Launcher Actions" then select "Open/close App Drawer". It will bring the icon back on your Home screen, from there, you can drag it back to one of the 3 boxes on the Dock bar.
I kept having to reset it and got tired of that so I deleted the bar and put the icon on the screen itself. It hasn't disappeared yet since doing that.

It does not "disappear", you're removing it. Put it back and select "Lock desktop". You'll have to unlock when you want to change stuff on the desktop.

Hi,
I have a really strange problem. Yesterday I was playing with a game on my Galaxy S.
Suddenly the game started to lag and refuse input. The home key and the power button did not work.
So I took out the battery and restarted. I've done this before many times without problems.
But this time, after the reboot, I am missing 3 icons of the GUI: Phone, Contacts and Message.
I have only "Application" left, in the lower part of the screen.
I do not want to do an hard reset right now, I'm in vacation, I have many useful apps and don't
want to lose them right now.
I wish to kindly ask if some expert can tell me how to get my icons back !
Thank you !
Sergio
PS: my rom is a stock Samsung 2.3.4 and I have root access.
EDIT 1 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've found this advice:
From the home screen, press Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All
Search for TwLauncher and clear the data stored in there.
but.... I cannot find TWlauncher in my Applications. Even changing language from Italian to english. Maybe it was on Froyo, and now on Gingerbread it has another name ??
EDIT 2 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
After changing language, the name of some system application also change. But this seems a slow process. After 5 minutes from language change, I have finally found TWlauncher in my application list and following the advice i got my icons back.

When you open your Apps Drawer, are the Phone, Contacts and Messaging Apps still there?
If so, just press and hold the icon, then drop them back on your homescreen.

If you mean the quick launch bar at the bottom of the homescreen, do this:
Application -> *left menu button* -> edit -> drag&drop the apps you'd link to have there -> done!
Funny, I Was quite sure that the 3 icons were both in quick launch bar AND app drawer. So when I've found that solution I've seen that putting icons in quick launch removes them from app drawer. So I've tried the other solution but I found the same result.
Can you confirm that this icons normally stay in quick launch OR app drawer, and not in both ?
Thanks
Yep. When you drag an App to the quick launch bar, it isn't shown in app drawer anymore.

Simplest way it's download another launcher in then it will give toy then choice to choose from that or stock when you press home
You can also uninstall from the market just select menu so you know the name sounds like sb shell launcher

I think what you are looking at is the wallpaper?
It was change to Live wallpapers..by your son accidentally
you can press on the homescreen and a popup menu will appear, from there
choose wallpapers then choose wallpaper gallery and change your wallpaper
thats it..
by the way I hope you could specify a little more so that we can help..
hope this help in anyway..
Assuming you're talking about an alternative launcher, and you want to go back to the original Samsung one, you would do it as follows. Tap Settings on the home screen, Applications, and Manage applications. Now mine is ADW Launcher, so I'd tap that, but if yours is a different one, tap that. If you don't know which one it is, just look through the list for a likely candidate. If it isn't on the Thir-party tab, you could try All. Anyway, once you've found the launcher, tap it, and on the next screen tap Clear defaults. Close all screens. Now back on the home screen, tap the Home button. It should open a window where you can select Use by default for this action. Tap that, and then Samsung Home. From now on the original Samsung launcher will be used.
Thanks guys for the tips...it's working now
