This one looks interesting. It looks like it wraps all the way around the side of the phone, and slides apart on the back to open. This might keep from having the issue of jamming the screen cover in between the slider mechanism.
Has anyone ever used this brand? I'm curious if it is worth it.

Looks interesting. I'm curious, and half tempted to pull the trigger on this just to see the design..

Ill be watching this thread to see if anyone gets it. It is an interesting ide.

I am definitely interested in this too, I used to have a slider case for my touch pro that worked very well, but it was a side slider. I'm curious how that wrap around would mess with how you hold your phone though

What do they mean by the "sliding mechanism is on the back of the handset rather than the front or sides"?
Well I haven't actually seen the case in person, but I'm guessing its similar to my old case for my tp in that I didn't clip to the phone. You would put the bottom on, then the top by sliding the pieces together into their slides. This held it on the phone and made for no pulling apart the phone by the clips being in between the two halves. I've really been surprised that design didn't catch on a lot better then it did. I loved it!

sounds intriguing id like to hear if someone gets this and what they think
I just ordered it. I'll report back with what I find.
woo, sweet! Now we will finally know something.

Oic! I have a clear case for the tmo hero just like that so I know the design you're talking about.

Don't worry guys I'm still waiting on the case. It says payment received as the status.

Here is a thread from Android Central with a couple pics of this case. Just scroll down a little.

I just got it. It feels really good. It feels as though it should cost more money. It makes the phone fit better in my hands. Feels a lot sturdier as well. Once I get a hold of another camera I can take some pictures.

Just ordered mine too. Will post pictures when I get it.
I am highly debating getting this, I already have the max coverage invisible shield on my phone, but I would feel better if it had some rubber surrounding it. But I want to hear real world reviews before I jump.
This case isn't rubber. It feels like a hard plastic that is slightly rubbery. Feels VERY similar to the back of the evo shift 4g(without the case of course)

I got mine today. But its loose at the top right of my phone. Its like it doesn't fit all the way. So I'm going to return it and patienly wait for another one.

How does it attach to the phone? Does it actually clip to it, or do the two pieces of case hold to each other? I have a few extra batteries and I want to be able to pop off the back easily, and that usually breaks the tabbed ones. So if this holds on like I think it does, it's perfect for me. How does it feel protective wise? Like are you pretty confident it will protect the phone? or does it still leave a wavering feeling like I better never drop this thing or it's shot? lol

Mine is starting to get like that too. It doesn't bother me too much though.
@unityjasont: The two sides are independent from each other. The backpiece clips onto the rear part of your phone and the top piece onto the screen/slider portion. Then you match them up so that they are on the track. It feels very solid to me. I've actually dropped my phone twice since I got this case. Just scuffed up the case a little bit and I rubbed off the scratch easily each time. It's pretty easy to pop off the backpiece. It doesn't feel as though it's going to break. I also forgot to mention that the camera, flash, and volume rocker are now recessed. So there's no worrying about scratching the camera lens, and there's a lot less accidental volume key pressing.
I took some pictures as well as a video with my macbook's crappy camera.

glad your happy
Sorry, I just don't get the piece that slides up with the screen. Seems kind of strange and in the way.
Is there a point to this thing?
I've had a GT-I9000 SGS for about 4 months now. In terms of software and speed I'm happy after rooting and applying a lag fix.
The annoyance now is that the metal frame around the phone feels loose. So that always as I hold the phone to press the up or down volume or the on/off button, it always squeaks. Does your phone have the same problem? I've considered sending it back but I wanna know if mine is the rule or an exception.
Thanks in advance for your comments.

Mine is fine, sent it to repair or put a silicon case in it to avoid the effect

No problem here. But are you sure its metal? Mine feels like plastic and as my phone hit the table and then the ground it scratched on it like on plastic.
Mine battery is loose though, fixed it with a piece of plastic too
Good to know... Seriously considering sending it back. Anyone else?

Same here, but it was the battery cover at its border where it touches the phones frame.
Try it without the battery cover. Still the same?
yep i have this problem, its abit spongy wen you push it.
Well, trying without the back cover does make a difference. Not 100% perfect but much better. In the end I've just discovered the reason. Hmmmm. Maybe I'll just get an extra cover.

I recently purchased a packet of mybat-branded fitted screen covers for the Cricket Zio, part CRKM6000LCDSCPRTW. It appears to be a decent fit. Light sensor, LED and earpiece cutouts are within 0.5mm tolerance. Soft buttons are covered, does not overlap the hard buttons or trackball recess.
Now to see how it holds up. Or not. It may well be good, but my caffeine-addled hands cannot get it to go on straight, before the sticky gets covered in lint.
Ive got ghost armor on my screen. Gonna have the rest done later this week. Free replacement armor since it is covered in the price.
my soft keys are covered same as yours.

here is what I used for mine... looks to be the same stuff as the ghost shields for ALOT less

they also have a full body kit
http://cgi.ebay.com/2-Pack-Sanyo-ZI...958830?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item230b17b6ae
but I use a tight form fitted plastic case so.....
first time I had tried to use that type of screen protector on a different phone I didnt have as much luck.... same type of protector but when I squeegeed it down I think I pressed to hard and caused it to orange peel on the surface... it worked great to protect but just didnt look that good.....
this time though on the Zio it went down smooth as can be and more or less looks like its not even there.... only place you can really tell is where its cut to go around the trackball and hard keys... and for the price I am SUPER happy with it..... no scratches (even with a diamond earing that is KNOWN to destroy phone screens) and I personaly feel it adds a bit of smoothness to the screen when your touching/sliding things around on it.... for 4 bucks I aint complaining!
Yes.... but free replacements.

I wish they made a clear super thin plastic case that enclosed it 100%. Would be great for people in the trades industry. They wouldn't have to worry about gumming up their phones
Sent from my Zio using XDA App
They do the sides and back aswell ad top and bottom. At that point the only thing hurting your phone is being run over, dropped from a decent 10+ feet, water, and yourself.

I got tired of the hard case, and decided to carry my phone naked. Heck, first day having nothing on it, I got scuffs! I realized I should have applied some NuFinish car wax on my handheld prior to going naked, but I didn't. O well...I decided to purchase this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220709157635&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
Why have a thin light device, if you have to make it bigger?
Have you noticed how big the Huawei Ascend with full body armor? That thing is about as big as a bible!

I would have agreed with you three days ago, but I've carried my ZIO naked for a year and a half, and it's fared pretty well for being in a desert. Anyway, I hit up T-Mobile (I own a cricKet ZIO) for a screen protector only they give out, and for fifteen dollars, I'd give my full seal of approval. Straight up. It improves screen smoothness by 60%, and protects 90% as well as Zagg Invisible Shields for 25% less.

is it a problem that my sgs battery cover is a little loose, not too much, i cant see it actually move or sth i just feel it when i hold the phone
Cannot confirm. Maybe your cover is broken a little bit?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
i checked and it wasnt broken its just a little out of place at the right side.
Has it been bent for some reason? The only danger I could think of is the cover to fall off, along with the battery, which hard powers down your phone. Other than that it might just be good for cooling.
Good afternoon,
I dropped my bionic the other day shattering the glass. I don't have the 100 for insurance so I was looking for a quick way out till I replaced it.
Now, I know I can buy the glass/digitizer online, I even have the how-tos.
This is where my question gets unique. My coworker just out of the blue handed me his broken bionic. It was water damaged a few months ago.
Could I take the glass from this and put it on mine?? Or would it not work because of his damage? Could I rewire my good wires to his glass? I just figured free fix is better than sitting on a broken phone. Just don't know if it will work or not.
Ideas?
Sent from my XT875 using XDA
Well unless water penetrated the display (which, I think, I think, is a fairly well sealed unit) you should be able to use it. If your friend already gave it to you, just try it out
I mean, attempting to power on the unit with a potentially water logged display can't be any riskier than a cracked one imo
Sent from my SGH-I727R using XDA
The display on mine works great, just spiderwebbed glass. I would only really need the glass for it.
I am hoping it works, just don't want to waste (x) hours on my phone to have to turn around and take it apart again haha
Sent from my XT875 using XDA
Ohh ok, well, i'm certainly no expert on phone repair, I do know that the digitizer is a sealed unit, so, unless it stayed under water for a very very long time, I can't personally see why it wouldn't work for you
However, to be on the safe side and avoid wasting hours of your time (cause it does suck wasting time IMO) I'd hold up for a more experienced opinion.
sorry I couldn't be more assertive in my input
Sent from my SGH-I727R using XDA
Replacing the digitizer on the Bionic is incredibly simple, the only thing you need to be cardful with is removing the motherboard - be sure to pry the bottom away from teh LCD (small amount of weak adhesive there), because the digitizer cables (there are 2) run between the LCD and the board, so if you pull the LCD and the board out together, there's a pretty good chance of snapping those cables. Even easier than trying to swap digitizers is to just swap motherboards and LCDs. You might not even need to switch LCDs, but water isn't easy on them, so it's safe to assume that the water damaged one is trashed.
Anyway, all you need is a T4 screwdriver and about 15 minutes. The only other minor difficult area is the earpiece speaker area, but all in all, this is one of the simplest phones I've ever worked on.
Yeah it doesn't seem like a hard phone to work on. Just hope all the water damaged pieces work alright with this phone. I'll post up when I get home with results
Sent from my XT875 using XDA
Just google the ifixit for bionic its only 11 screws and 2 ribbon wires
I know how to do it. That's not what this thread is about. Haha.
The whole reason for this thread was would a digitizer from a water logged phone work as a suitable replacement for my screen.
